Antibacterial or Back to Basics?
Posted by Michelle Moquin on January 6th, 2014
I choose back to basics. In fact, I stopped using antibacterial soap years ago. I didn’t find it necessary to use to clean my hands as long as I washed my hands thoroughly with good ‘ol soap and hot water. And it is bad for the environment which is one of the main reasons I stopped. Now, like many things, we find out that it may not be safe. I for one, am grateful that the FDA is investigating this. If I had my druthers, I would eliminate these products completely.
From Daily News:
FDA Wants To Find Out Whether Antibacterial Soap Is Safe
Are antibacterial soaps and body washes safe and effective for long-term use? The Food and Drug Administration wants to find out.
Under a proposed rule issued Monday, Dec. 16 by the FDA, makers of antibacterial products (not including those used in health-care settings) would have to demonstrate the products are safe and effective with clinical study data.
If they’re not, the makers will have to reformulate or relabel their products in order for them to stay on store shelves.
In addition, the makers of these products would need to show that their antibacterial products are more effective at preventing illness than regular soap and water.
“Antibacterial soaps and body washes are used widely and frequently by consumers in everyday home, work, school, and public settings, where the risk of infection is relatively low,” Dr. Janet Woodcock, M.D., the director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the FDA, said in a statement. “Due to consumers’ extensive exposure to the ingredients in antibacterial soaps, we believe there should be a clearly demonstrated benefit from using antibacterial soap to balance any potential risk.”
The FDA is cracking down on consumer antibacterial products due to concerns that some ingredients in the products — such as triclosan, which is found in liquid soap, and triclocarban, which is found in bar soap — could raise the risk of bacterial resistance or affect hormones. Therefore, the FDA is reexamining the data that makes antibacterial products “generally recognized as safe and effective.”
Because this is a proposed rule, it does not mean antibacterial products have to be removed from store shelves. However, upon finalization, the makers of consumer antibacterial products will have to provide the clinical trial data showing the effectiveness and safety of their products, or will have to reformulate or relabel their products. The public is allowed to comment for 180 days on the proposed rule.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hand-washing with soap and water is the best way to clean hands of microbes. However, if you don’t have access to soap and water, hand sanitizer that has at least 60 percent alcohol levels is your next best bet.
Recently, a Journal of Environmental Health study showed that only 5 percent of people correctly wash their hands for 15 to 20 seconds. The average amount of time we spend scrubbing? Six seconds.
*****
Readers: Still questioning whether you should use antibacterial or regular soap and water? A test study was done with E-coli bacteria. People’s hands were doused with the bacteria. Some then washed with antibacterial soap and others washed with regular soap and water. They found that 75% of the bacteria was washed away withe the antibacterial soap. 75% was washed away from the soap and water as well.
On a similar note, if I feel the need to use a hand sanitizer, which I do frequently after I pump gas at the station or if I am touching a lot of public areas, I don’t use those icky gels, but a great product from Clean Well. It is a natural hand sanitizer spray that kills germs. And it contains no Triclosan. (Nor do their hand soaps which also kill germs naturally.) I keep one in my purse and one in my car. I love and use many of their products.
Here’s a few pluses about their soaps and hand sanitizers:

Blog me.
Anna of Guam: Thank you for posting that interesting write. I have known a little about Guam but only because a friend of mine lives there. However, because you, Peter and Lea have been posting interesting writes about Guam here for the past 6 years, I have come to learn so much more. I never knew that there was not very much information about Guam available to the mainlanders. But then I never sought out information past reading here, and from my friend. I think that the lack of books available is sad, because Guam is a part of the U.S…a beautiful and interesting part and more people should have access to all that Guam is and offers. Thank you for all of your efforts to make your part of the U.S. known to me and my readers.
Howie: It was nice to chat with you as well. Thank you for the kind words.
Peace & Love…
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,

Ps thank you Edwina

Actually Katrina, you must always do what feels right to your heart. It’s not about spreading legs blah blah blah that’s minimizing anything good that can happen between any two people, that being said if that’s tha way you feel that’s the way you feel…
I’m not condoning following all biological impulses I’m condoning following your owm best female instincts.
& If it’s one thing I learned – trust no one. I mean that as a way of knowing that ultimately you are in charge so watch carefully how you feel, feel good about what you do in life and be very careful who you share that information with…

My family doctor told me not to use those products when they first came out. He said to just do proper hand washing & that the boys would develop the immunities that they needed. He also told parents to let their kids play outside & get dirty. A bath without antibacterial would clean them up just fine.
They’ve been pretty healthy, but they don’t have serious illness, either.
January 6th, 2014 at 12:26 pm
Healthcare centers use them??
I have been having a hard time finding them in the stores. Wal-Mart only carries one type anymore. You used to be able to find many scents. I can’t anymore.
After almost losing my arm to a community based infection, I use ant-bacterial everything!

Victoria #3 Yesterday:
This is the comment you wrote in yesterday when people thought this Man-Child pretended to be Alien in his Captain Kirk Pajamas.
“Howie, I couldn’t get in the last two days so I am at work taking my 9:30 break early. We have been laughing at your reference to TOTFC and making up titles to fit his/hers initials.”
I can tell you that TOTFC is poorly pretending to be an Alien. I know the real thing from the fakers and he is human, yet he has the nerve to criticize me for naming a wormhole — what a jerk.
Live long and prosper,
HOWIE
What a phony. He should chill out and watch Star Trak reruns on TV.

What Is the Purpose of Myron?
This pertains to #19 on December 29.
Myron It is an exact duplicate of the earth’s solar system without animal life made by the Emperor.
Even the oceans have no animal life. It was captured using the new Wormhole technology the Emperor discovered from the Evom. Their telekinetic ability work to create a sucking form one end of this new type of wormhole.
The result is a device that can suck up sections of space and send it to another. Like you going to China with a vacuum and sucking up some Beijing air and mailing it to Miami. The difference would be that the air when it came out would resemble the space it occupied before it was sucked up.
Placed tangentially over the exact space in a different location gives it the property of a mirror. Hence a person looking into it after it has been put in such a relationship with its duplicate gives one the ability to see what is happening. By moving it to a different location on a curved time continuum one can see the possible outcomes of particular actions before they occur on earth.
Let us not forget that we are under the jurisdiction of the Emperor and his Armada which enforces his edicts such as no weapons to fight each other anywhere near our Solar System. Those who disobey are annihilated.
His Power has a tremendously long reach. He has much to deal with. There are thousands of Alien visitors in and around our Solar System and Galaxy which he must keep an eye on. They sometimes try to disobey the Emperor and pay the ultimate price. Their Motherships are annihilated along with thousands of Crew members.
A Mothership can be the size of Jupiter with Millions of beings aboard . . . Can you imagine a ship that tremendous? — and there are thousands of them hiding just out of the reach of our scientists and Astronomers.
We are such an arrogant species. We think we know it all. We are like little children.
HOWIE

Arrogant species is quite apropos. One might want to investigate further before spewing falsities.

Katrina, today…this is what you wrote yesterday:
Zen Lill#12 excellent post. Men need to learn that what is good for the gander is certainly as good for the Goose.
I think part of the conflict is that most women require a bit more intimacy before the spread their legs than a man who is benefitting from that spreading. Men will fuck anything and just move on.
Very few women could do that, and even fewer on a regular basis. Most women need to feel that when they give themselves to a man there is more to it than a spastic bit of pleasure.
Yes, we like men, need to have that spastic pleasure called orgasm just as often, it’s just that ours come with a lot more emotional and thoughtful content than men.
I responded: “Katrina, read again I didn’t say goose gander without feeling, but I’ve been misunderstood before, all good.” (*** because you did misunderstand me and I’m still standing : )
& because, Katrina, I didn’t say what’s good for the goose is good for the gander (or it might be but that’s up to the particular ‘gander’) and I did not say to proceed without trusting you instincts/intuition about any affair of the heart/body.
I didn’t mean to infer that all women should fuck and move on as if they are merely poorly behaved testosterone driven jerks, not.at.all. I don’t indulge in one nighters, never have, (I am OK with it if my pals do though as long as they can handle it) I don’t indulge in jumping into ‘it’s a relationship’ too early either, (and I have watched many pals think they’re in one bc they slept with one man several nights/weeks in a row, or bc they’ve told their life story to said dude in 3 months or less) – *taking a breath here* –
and…
so that means that I could be capable of having a relationship with true caring but without extreme commitment to a ‘future’ together and (likely) that after spending time in a long marriage that I would want to be completely committed and monogamous ‘forever’ more again (or just not for a long time), so I think therein lies a lot of latitude to just be and care for one or more (not necessarily always searching for a second or for just sex) << though if someone wants any of that, as long as they and their peeps are cool with it, do whatever…if one is so inclined to do any of the above.
I tend to be a serial monogamist but I see that an open relationship rather than breaking up could work for others and possibly even me. I even leave open the possibility of a woman though I don't search for a 'one' I just have no aversion to anyone's sexuality being expressed as long as they are cool with it and so are their consenting others.
If you would rather feel that all sexual experiences are simply a matter of who you 'spread em' for bc he benefits more, it's ok, just rather a limiting belief to think that HE gets something and you do not out of the sexual encounters you have, and that alone maybe a bit heavy and/or damaging on the femme psyche to only think of your worth/value to men (in relationship) only in those kinds of terms, and it sounds like it compromises how you get or value your pleasure.
I do not happen feel that way at all (he benefits and I don't), it has not been my experience out there in the world of man n' me. Capice? & I'm not trying to be facetious or snarky with you, & I really hope you get that?
Howie, I better come back with questions, I have too many right now! Unbelievable…
BTW, I called a plumber to cap off an extra faucet I installed for my alkaline water (2.5ph is hand sanitizer, Mischa, just looked it up!) and he said I can come over and 'cap off your cockhole' – there was a long pause after which I said, 'are you fucking with me?!' – nope that is what all plumbers call those holes in your granite countertop where fixtures go…Fek…really?

Howie,
- has CARR met or is he in contact with the Emperor (and I’ll apologize now if you ever disclosed this info before but archives are closed and I can’t reference anything but memory)
- and is he of similar stature (a God and an Emperor of the known universe, which gives in to the other or do they ever have to deal with any of that anyway?)?
It is hard to imagine fleets of ships with thousands aboard hovering just outside our scientists watchful eyes, are most of them looking for new planets to live on or? & why aren’t our scientists allowed some air-time so we can learn how to grow up as a species?
Maybe the q’s are too ethereal? If so, I apologize.
Also, is weather out in the known/unknown universes the kind of ‘weather’ we envision when we think about weather or are you referring to meteor showers (or something similar to that kind of thing)?
Thank you, ZL
January 6th, 2014 at 8:19 pm
TOTFC#8&9, give it up. We know you are a phony.
January 6th, 2014 at 8:41 pm
Howie, my brother loves your alien post. He is a cosmologist for a tech firm that supports NASA. He says that it is very logical that aliens who have the technology to traverse the kind of distances you are talking about would need huge ships the likes we could only imagine.
He said that if the requirements were relative to the size of our oceans and war ships that would mean ships the size of Jupiter far dwarfing the size of earth.
I asked him how could such a ship approach earth. He said that it would not be able to because it would be 120 to 200 times the size of earth. He said the aliens would probably use smaller craft launched from outside our solar system to approach the earth.
I asked if that meant they would be giants. He said not necessarily because the size of their space ship merely reflects the vessel requirements to navigate the distance and circumstances that would possibly be met during a long space journey, somewhat like what a battleship has to endure on the open seas between its destinations. The size of the occupants doesn’t necessarily have a correlation between them and their vessel.
Is that true Howie? Are these aliens giants or not?
January 6th, 2014 at 8:45 pm
Zen Lill, I can answer your weather question. Howie has mentioned it before. “Weather is how space travelers describe the conditions they have to deal with in space. Some of them may be regular like our weather patterns, such as comets and meteorites and asteroids that travel in a regular cycle or pattern.
The other is just whatever happens along their path.
lHow did I do Howie?
January 6th, 2014 at 8:48 pm
TOTFC, if you don’t have something constructive to post, leave the Q&A to Howie and those of us interested in learning something.
If you wish to be a nay sayer. That is your right, but this is a blog that accepts Howie and the belief that aliens exist. There are plenty of other blogs that don’t find one.
January 6th, 2014 at 8:50 pm
TOTFC, “One might want to investigate further before spewing falsities.” So if you have evidence that something Howie said is false, spill it or sit back and learn something.
January 6th, 2014 at 8:51 pm
Ignore TOTFC, he/she is just looking for attention.
January 6th, 2014 at 8:53 pm
Zen Lill, why would it be hard to imagine huge ships hovering outside our vision? They surely have the technology to cloak.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:04 pm
Zen Lill, let me refresh your memory. It was Carr who disciplined the Emperor because he got on the bad side of Howie. He stepped on the Emperor’s ship and removed the TAO from his vision and got rid of one of them because he sassed Carr.
Azza is the result of Carr removing her ship (do you remember it’s name? You visited it) from the Emperor’s armada and giving them autonomy.
Did Michelle, or Madaline remove your memory of these events as punishment for your throwing Michelle under the bus? Michelle, you and two other women went up to visit Azza and the TAO. I understand a GOOD time was had by all.
You came back GirlZs.
My sisters have the complete chronicle. I wish I had saved all of it but I only saved the alien references. I did get some additional blog material before Michelle shut us out.
Many of us exchange info across the globe. My sisters are so petty they refuse to share their bounty. They claim it will be valuable some day.
Michelle I hope you prove the wrong by releasing the entire early years. Book it and sell it. I for one will buy several copies.
Thomas
January 6th, 2014 at 9:07 pm
Kristofer, thank you, got it, I must’ve missed that somehow.
Albert, let me just rephrase: I want to be on the Climax again. (A girlZ mission : )
I actually don’t have trouble imagining anything really but the amount of ships hovering out there and we don’t get to see even one? (Boo)
And again we have a MM pairing TOTFC and ‘Rita Mae’ you can play nay say together and not base it on anything you can prove or even throw out a real theory on.

January 6th, 2014 at 9:24 pm
Thomas, nope I wasn’t punished and I’m not talking about buses wichoo – she wasn’t the only one thrown under – noodle on that, my friend.
So there was no ‘punishment’ bc she doesn’t operate that way nor do I when someone makes a mistake and breaches my trust either, though again, noodle longer…
Thank you for pulling out your archives, I tend to live here in real time and I didn’t take the opportunity to copy the archives when they were open, smart sisters you’ve got…! And yes, it was the Climax, how could I ever forget?

The gas scam is on again. Guam – (Tuesday, January 7) – As usual, Mobil led the way, raising the price of regular unleaded gas overnight by 10-cents to $4.73 cents a gallon.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 76 had raised their price by 10-cents as well, but Shell was still lagging back at $4.63 a gallon, but they are expected to follow suit before the day is out, as they usually do.
Its not clear why Mobil raised its price. The price of crude oil has been falling in Asia as well as on the U.S. mainland. The island’s fuel suppliers do not comment on pricing decisions.
Guam’s gasoline is brewed in Singapore where one of the Asian benchmarks is Malaysia’s Tapis crude which has recently experienced a $5-dollar drop in price from a high of $118 dollars a barrel on December 30th to about $113 dollars a barrel this past Friday.
SEE a chart tracking the price of Tapis on AIP.com.au HERE
In addition crude oil prices in the U.S. have also been falling. According to a weekend report on Bloomberg.com, crude prices experienced their biggest weekly decline in 19 months, after a government report showed that U.S. supplies of distillate fuel and gasoline climbed.
Still, even in the U.S. mainland gas prices have been gradullay rising over the past month. According to the Triple A Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the average cost of unleaded in the lower 48 was $3.32 a gallon, up from $3.26 a month ago.
READ the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report HERE
This was the first change in the price of fuel on Guam since November of last year, and the first price hike of 2014.
There were 8 price changes last year.
2013 Gasoline Price Changes for regular unleaded
1. January 29th – 10-cent price increase from $4.78 to $4.88
2. February 11 – 10-cent price increase from $4.88 to $4.98
3. March 11 – 10-cent price decrease from $4.98 back down to $4.88
4. April 8 – 10-cent price decrease from $4.88 down to $4.78
5. April 16 – 10-cent price decrease from $4.78 down to $4.68
6. July 17 – 15-cet price increase from $4.68 to $4.83
7. August 8 – 10-cent price decrease from $4.83 to $4.73
8. November 6 – 10-cent price decrease from $4.73 to $4.63
Guam’s gasoline is brewed in Singapore where one of the Asian benchmarks is Malaysia’s Tapis crude which has been edging lower this month, dropping from nearly US$116 dollars a barrel on November 1st to US$113 dollars a barrel as of this past Tuesday.
When you enjoy a monopoly, you can fleece the customer whenever you wish. We have to take a cue from our President and switch to more fuel efficient cars or better yet to alternative fuels like electric or solar.

Peter, Honda and Toyota with their electric cars, Volt and Prius, are scoring big-time and getting 50mpg with them is pretty major savings.
I posted the green car of the future here a long while ago, my dream car, the Fisker Karma, and if the HK billionaire who bought it out of bankruptcy recently would start producing again every exotic car owner in the US (and maybe Guam?) would want one, it drives like a dream, no gear shifting just pure acceleration, it regenerates it’s own battery while driving downhill, it’s interior is all ‘green’ fabrics and recycled wood, gets between 80-85mpg…depending on how you drive it.
Gas prices here are high as well, and ‘fleecing’ is the word for it.

Ditto Linda. Al your incites and wit are missed. I have been reading this blog and I used to look forward to your comings and goings. I belonged to Kitty’s South Florida’s Al’s Bat Crazy Club. We still meet once a week at Denny’s to laugh at your old antics.
We loved watching your entries after you had behaved for a while and blown up and cursed everyone out. It was hilarious in a good way. You were the ONE real character. We would take bets when you would arrive at the point when you couldn’t take the bullshit on the blog any longer and let go.
Your fans and defenders of the KSFABC Club are standing by awaiting our Commander to once again take the helm. I got the dibs to write in for the club.
Please don’t disappoint us you have been away way too long.

Beings of all types – including OBs (other beings) post on this blog. I would advise to not rush to judgment just because they don’t appear one way or the other to you. There is room for everyone here. This world is made up of many different entities doing many different things in ways not understandable to all.
Mayhaps one day the stories will be told.
