Subway Footlong-’Shoe Rubber’ Chemical Removed From Subway Bread Found In Nearly 500 Common Foods
Footlong fans breathed a sigh of relief at the beginning of February, when sandwich chain Subway announced that it was removing azodicarbonamide — a chemical used in shoe rubber and yoga mats — from its bread.
Though the World Health Organization has said that the chemical is safe for human consumption, some studies have suggested it could be linked with asthma and skin and respiratory problems. And when the chemical is baked, it forms another chemical that has been linked to cancer in animal studies, CBS News pointed out. A series of popular petitions circulated by blogger Vana Hari, who runs the website FoodBabe.com, have also argued the case that its efficacy as a “bleaching agent” in bread just isn’t worth the potential health hazards.
It’s been well-established at this point that azodicarbonamide is a relatively common ingredient in processed foods. But a newly released study by the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit, suggests that azodicarbonamide is far more common than we may have realized. EWG pored through the ingredient lists of more than 80,000 common grocery foods in an attempt to figure out which products contained the chemical. Andthey found it in nearly 500 items sold under 120 different brand names.
The list of foods runs the gamut from the “healthy” — Weight Watchers meals, Fiber One breads — to the obviously processed and indulgent — Entenmann’s pastries, White Castle Cheeseburgers. The industry doesn’t care about what it does to its customers because they have liability protection either from republican legislation, or their refusal to fund the federal organization responsible for their regulation.
So they use whatever chemicals they want to prevent spoilage and make their product look good to the eye.

Hello Michelle, been a while. I had to pipe in on this one. Rather than make an effort to clean up their products and remove the Azodicarbonamide, the industry has hired a promotion firm that is busy sticking ringers on every blog touting the bad journalism of Huff Post and others that claim Azodicarbonamide is dangerous.
They are out to convince the customers that it is okay to eat shoe rubber in your food because it is in such small amounts that it couldn’t possibly hurt you.
Even if that was true considering that it is in so many different products that a person consumes it would be easy to reach those limits, but hey, that would be logic.

Yes, Alfredo, you are correct and it also illustrates another point often mentioned on this blog which is most white women follow their men Lock-Step when it comes to applying racism and unfair class favoritism.
Superior court judge Jan Jurden is but a typical example. But if it were her husband who had raped their son and then their three year old daughter.
Imagine setting this pedophile free to prey on other children with the excuse that it would be unfair to him to send him to jail?

I was an officer at the state prison on a sex offender yard. 90 percent are child molesters. They do NOT feel remorse for what they do, and it has been proven time and time again. They get out they re offend. They cannot be rehabilitated. Prison is not for coddling inmates. It is for punishment of the offender and protection of the public.
I agree with Becky#9, I believe this loony whack job of a judge was paid off by Dupont money. I think a serious investigation needs to be started to look into the relationship between this judge and the rapist.

EXCUSE ME??? Under ANY circumstance is it “appropriate” to touch a child in a sexual manner?? TO the point she is telling her grandmother she does not want daddy touching her anymore? Obviously it was scary/painful/traumatic enough for a three year old to relay this message.
He also admitted to “abusing” his 19 month old son around the same time. Rape by the way is NOT a “wide” collection of sexual offenses. The collection is broken down into different terminology for different acts.

Pedophiles tend to defend other pedophiles. Most of them believe that it is not wrong to have sexual relations with children….especially their own children.
Pedophilia personality types usually believe that their children and spouses are property that they can use as they so please. This is the main reason that their recidivism rates are so high…..prison won’t stop them.
Unfortunately, our court system in the US is plagued with judges who are either corrupt, and/or are uneducated regarding the dynamics of abuse.
Most protective parents who report that their child has been molested are waved away at the police station…..only a tiny percentage of child rapists serve prison time….and they are typically poor.

This is a bad scene but as one who has done some work with pedophiles who are in prison I’ll say there’s some truth to what was said about treatment over incarceration.
The fact is the majority of pedophiles were molested when they were kids. It becomes a vicious cycle. It can also never be ‘cured.’ The only hope is that they learn to suppress their urges but that takes treatment.
We know that pedophiles serve very hard time in prison. Almost all of them serve in Protective Custody and even there they’re considered the lowest of the low…and rightfully so. But punishment alone won’t change the behavior.
So it becomes a question of do you want to severely punish the offender only to have them get out and do it again or do you want to protect kids in the future?

This is unacceptable. Someone who has sex with a 3 year old will not react to treatment, they will not get better. Studies have shown once a pedophile orgasms with a child who has not gone through puberty they have almost zero chance of recovery.

Why was he not sent (at the very least) sent to one of those minimum security prisons that wealthy white collar criminals are sent to? That would have been better than probation and being sent to carry on with his life. It’s not like he risks losing his job or anything. Maybe his family will cut him off from the trust fund he lives off of.

Olegar#33, My guess? The judge “sealed” the criminal case, and placed gag orders on the mother and any other family members who were aware. Judges do this with pedophiles quite often…..they claim that it is to protect the identity of the victim, but that’s complete BS.
Judges enjoy making deals behind cloaks of secrecy, where they can get away with such aberrations….if the public doesn’t know, then she would likely be reelected during the next elections cycle. Great system, eh?
Create a veil of secrecy so that the judge and other court cronies can make big money off of such cases…..all while enjoying judicial immunity and securing a very comfortable retirement.

He raped a 3 year old and gets probation. Many people would not do well in prison but if they commit the crime, they have to do the time. We send children to prison, treating them as adults for specific crimes.
At the very least, the man should be confined to a mental hospital; he definitely has problems if he can commit a six act on a toddler. What he should not be allowed to do is repeat the crime nor prey on other children.

I’m hoping that the DA and the mother decides to push this case to the supreme court and makes such a big stink that this judge who sentenced him gets removed the bench and disbarred and possibly even some federal prison time herself.
This man belongs in prison in the general population. Bad enough it was rape, worse it was a three year old, and the absolute most disgusting thing was its his kid. let him sit in general population of a maximum security prison for three days bet he will never even think about sex again.

Selling drugs and using drugs–creating a cycle of dependency and poverty, that creates a cycle of dependency and poverty because once a young person is charged with selling drugs due to his parent’s poverty, his poor location, and lack of education and transportation, he becomes legally blacklisted from social help toward self-sufficiency and blacklisted from honest work.
He ends up back in prison, the mother of his children and her children live in poverty, and struggle while dad is here and there, and his children enter into the same cycle. YET–rehabilitation and a clean record are rarely considered for these people–people with the most potential toward advancing our society vs. baby rapers..
So whether you enter the cycle of drug selling or you end up tragically addicted to a substance therefore abusing no one but yourself, you have very little recourse. Raping a child is a tragic crime. It’s a crime. How is any other criminal less deserving of rehabilitation and the recognition of his human value?
How is it that any other criminal should be considered to “fare better” in prison than this bloke?

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Accusing them of involvement in “a widespread conspiracy to save President Obama’s failed health-care program,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California) today subpoenaed the approximately seven million Americans who have signed up for Obamacare so far.
Arguing that the impressive enrollment numbers “don’t pass the smell test,” the House Oversight Committee chairman told reporters, “Any rational person would come to the same conclusion that I have: namely, that this is a well-orchestrated conspiracy of seven million people trying to make Obamacare look good.”
The California Republican said that the seven million co-conspirators targeted by his subpoenas would be required to travel to Washington to testify before his committee or risk being found in contempt of Congress.
“If you signed up for Obamacare, you have a lot of explaining to do,” he said.
In announcing the subpoenas, Rep. Issa indicated that his committee could begin grilling the seven million Obamacare enrollees as early as next week. “If my suspicions are correct, this could be bigger than Benghazi,” he said.
