Some Americans Are Clueless About The Meaning Of Memorial Day

Good morning!

The Huff Post says that most American’s don’t observe Memorial Day. Well, sadly that may be true.

However, after perusing the net I found this video and perhaps the reason why some people don’t observe it is because they have no idea what Memorial Day is all about.  Yes, you read that right. Clueless. Idiots.

This video was recorded 2 years ago but I have no doubt that unfortunately,  it is still valid today.

Clueless Americans Don’t Know Why We Celebrate Memorial Day

Mark Dice interviews random beach goers over the Memorial Day holiday two years ago in 2012 to see how many of them know the reason behind the holiday.

Dice insinuates absurd reasons for the holiday and finds that most people agree with him and confirm his outlandish statements

Watch the video:

*****

Readers: It’s shocking to watch this…sad and disconcerting.

I know my readers aren’t clueless about the meaning behind today. So whatever you’re doing, whether you are having a BBQ with friends and family, watching a parade, or just sitting at home relaxing, I HOPE that you are honoring the men and women who have given their lives, to ensure that we are safe at home. And although we are remembering and grateful to those whom have died while on duty, I also like to take a moment and appreciate those that are still out there fighting and protecting us, ensuring again that our country is safe.

My heart is full of appreciation.

Peace & Love to our fallen soldiers and to those still out there – I wish you a safe and quick return home.

What would you like to say about today? Blog me.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

Gratefully your blog host,

I couldn’t even finish watching that, fek, now you know what I deal with down by the beach sometimes. I wonder if some surfers haven’t gotten tossed in the waves one to many times…that was scary…

    Larry, prevengeda – hilarious.

I’m being a busy DYI-er today and enjoying quiet poolside chilling, and while I’m not into war at all, I will send off my silent thank you to the people who have bravely served to protect us from harm.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  2. Brandon Says:

Thank you for the info. We shall honor this day in peace.

  3. Tori Says:

i will always love Memorial Day.

  4. Edie Says:

TO ALL THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES AND TO ALL THAT HAVE SERVED AND ARE SERVING I GIVE UNDYING THANKS FOR PUTTING YOUR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR ME AND ALL OF THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA MAY JESUS PROTECT YOU AND GUIDE YOU IN ALL FACETS OF YOUR LIFE AMEN

  5. Gwen Says:

    words by Charles M. Province:

“It is the Soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us Freedom of the Press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us Freedom of Speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer,
    Who has given us the right to a fair trial;
And it is the Soldier–who salutes the flag,
    Who serves the flag, and
Whose coffin is draped by the flag–
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Please join me in a moment of silence as we all remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I ask that you please continue to make a difference with your words and actions. Thank you for coming.

  6. Luci Says:

Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Unless you knew someone who worked in the military, worked in the military yourself or were in some organization with some connection to the military chances are you don’t pay much attention to the real purpose of the day.

In hopes of getting back to the true meaning behind Memorial Day a humanitarian organization in Washington D.C. recently thought up something called a “National Moment of Remembrance” which suggests that every US citizen “observe a minute of silence at 3.00 pm (local time) to honor” those who lost their lives in the employment of our military.
Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Now you know.

  7. Tina Says:

Michelle, how about telling us what the government spying on us is all about. It would also help if you could tell us how to prevent as much spying on us as we can.

  8. Christopher* Says:

Very surprised at the large percentage of zombie Americans who have no idea why we recognize Memorial Day. It’s no surprise that republicans & corporate interests have such a stranglehold on this nation. So many just haven’t got a clue, not to say that I am so well informed, but this is about as basic as it gets.
