Just Noticing: “Observations of A Blogger”

Good morning!

Readers: I loved reading all of your suggestions for which Wonderful Woman Of The World should grace our currency. Thanks for partaking in on all of the fun.

Speaking of racism, a black man in the White House, people wanting the president to fail etc., the comments from yesterday inspired me to post this from West View News:

“Just noticing…”

THE NIGGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE

By James Lincoln Collier
Published July 2014

James Lincoln Collier is a writer and musician. His book My Brother Sam Is Dead (1974), was a Newbery Honor book that was also named an American Library Association Notable Children's Book and nominated for a National Book Award in 1975. His email addess is Jazzcol@aol.com

James Lincoln Collier is a writer and musician. His book My Brother Sam Is Dead (1974), was a Newbery Honor book that was also named an American Library Association Notable Children’s Book and nominated for a National Book Award in 1975. His email addess is Jazzcol@aol.com

Jim Collier is a straight talking man so when a few months ago he wanted to use the word “nigger” in an article to shock us into accepting that there still are people who believe and use this outrageous word, our editorial staff took collective objection and we did not print it. The editorial staff continues to object. In this article however Jim reminded me that the New York Times avoids using the word which convinced me that WestView should. –George Capsis

The uproar in the press at the stunning defeat of Eric Cantor, the former majority leader of the House, “unrivaled in the history of Congressional primaries,” according to the New York Times, has shown a spotlight on the persistence of racism in the United States. The newspaper reports have said that Cantor was “insufficiently conservative” on issues like immigration. This is undoubtly true; but it covers a greater and more important truth: Cantor was defeated mainly because his opponent, a man happily named Brat, was able to tie him to Obama in the minds of voters. Again according to the Times, Brat’s most effective campaign tool was a photograph showing Cantor standing next to the president. Brat took it for granted that a connection to Obama would be disliked by the voters in question. The Times added that such conservative Republicans have “a vocal base that demands unflinching opposition” to Obama and are “determined to stage confrontations with the president at every juncture.”

Presidents have been subjected to stinging attacks before. Franklin Roosevelt was royally hated by conservatives for his advocacy of social programs and support for unions; and Lincoln was shot for his tolerance of the recent enemy. Ironically, Obama has never strongly pushed for the strong social programs liberals expected of him. He has, indeed, been quite passive in his approach to governing. Conservatives ought therefore to have recognized that for a Democrat Obama was about as good as they could get. But, says the Times, “any hint of cooperation with the president” was the kiss of death for candidates in conservative territory.

It is possible to draw only one conclusion: these far right voters hate Obama because he is black. The simple truth is that there is still in America an irreducible measure of racism. A large minority have for some six years have been quietly angry that they must have in the White House a member of an inferior class of people. Until recently. however, they have felt constrained to keep their mouths shut. But America’s increasing tolerance of far right opinion has made racism more acceptable, so long as it can be disguised, however thinly, as politics.

Unfortunately, the media, including the New York Times, has been wary of addressing this issue. In its reporting on the subject it says only that Cantor’s problem was his support for immigration reform, including the legalization of people who had been smuggled in as children. There is no doubt that easing of restrictions on immigration, which basically means admitting more Hispanics from Central and South America, is opposed by substantial numbers of Americans. So doing is entirely consistent with what we know about the behavior of groups, about which I have written in WestView before. Groups don’t like strangers, and to non-Hispanic Americans these Central Americans are strangers, with a different language and set of folkways.

But blacks are seen as even more “different.” In this viewpoint, Obama is not “one of us” to many Americans and is therefore, if not exactly the enemy, at least an outsider.

One of the great surprises of this particular election was that the polls consistently showed that Cantor had a huge lead over Brat. The polls were not just slightly off, as they often are, but dramatically wrong. Nobody should have been surprised. Clearly, a whole lot of people who would not admit to a stranger on the phone to being racist, in the polling booths did what their hearts urged them to do: vote against Obama, even though he wasn’t on the ballot. And one of the results of the Brat victory is that we are unlikely to see another black candidate for president for some time to come; the risks are too great for major political parties to take.

Thoughts? Rants? Blog me.

Happy Birthday Social Butterfly & Al! I HOPE you both are having wonderful celebrations.

PS: I never see any banter by anyone on the blog as “monopolizing” my blog, so you don’t need to ever apologize.

Lewis: Your comment made me smile. You may be a true conservative but I somehow don’t think that you are a modern one riding on the extreme right. You sound pretty levelheaded…even though you are kept up ranting about the insane opinions of my highly liberal regulars denigrating the right. (I have to say there is very good reason to…denigrate the right, that is :)

I’m going to side with your Darling Wife and HOPE that I, and my readers, can covert you to a liberal.  It won’t be the first time. C’mon, try it, you might like it. After all, it seems you did marry one –  am I right?  Happy you read here nonetheless. I HOPE that we continue to keep you up. :)

Rufus: Loved your comeback comment.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Peace out.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

  1. HOWIE Says:

    THE ANTI-ZIONISM LIE

They are not shouting “Death to the Israelis” on the streets of Paris. They are screaming “Death to the Jews.”

The war in Gaza has exposed many myths. We now know the extent to which Hamas duped the world as it pleaded poverty and used the world’s aid for munitions and missiles – even as it turned its leaders in absentia into multimillionaires.

We now know how cement allowed into Gaza on the pretext that it would be used for the construction of schools and basic infrastructure was misdirected to building the most sophisticated tunnels meant for terror activities on an unimaginable and unprecedented scale.

We now know how those who speak in pious platitudes on CNN about how much they want only to ensure a good life for their children readily use them as shields and praise death and martyrdom as their noblest ideals.

But there’s one more myth which for all too long had many supporters around the world that can now no longer be sustained. The argument about the real meaning of anti-Zionism can finally be put to rest.

Many years ago there were those who already perceived the truth. When they expressed it they were often mocked, if not vilified. One would have to be blind though, today, not to agree.

Martin Luther King recognized this during his lifetime. He was fearless in speaking truth to power. His words resonate all the more forcefully now in the aftermath of the world’s response to Israel’s long overdue reaction to missiles indiscriminately fired on its inhabitants:

“When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You’re talking anti-Semitism!”
As Stephen Harper, the first Canadian Prime Minister to address the Knesset, said bluntly and clearly in January of this past year: “Anti-Zionism is the new face of anti-Semitism.”

And Harper was criticized. The pundits repeated their mantra: Opposition to Israel isn’t opposition to Jews. Hating Israel isn’t the same as hating Jews. Just because people take issue with Israeli policies doesn’t mean that they have anything against Jewish people all over the world.

Open your eyes now and see what is happening in the supposedly civilized capitals of Europe. In France, demonstrators physically assault Jews in synagogues. Not Israelis. Not the Israeli embassy. Jews. Jews at prayer, Jews who may lean left or right with regard to their views on settlements or may disagree with Israeli policies. As long as they are Jews, they remain the enemy.

Murderous slogans dating back to the days of Hitler have been chanted at pro-Palestinian rallies in Germany. Jewish-owned shops were attacked and burned. The Israeli ambassador to Germany, Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, said: “They pursue the Jews in the streets of Berlin . . . as if we were in 1938.” There have been reports of protesters chanting “Jews to the gas chambers.”

Dieter Graumann, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, said the rise in attacks was a terrifying reminder of an era that was thought to be in the distant past. “We are currently experiencing in this country an explosion of evil and violent hatred of Jews, which shocks and dismays all of us. We would never in our lives have thought it possible any more that anti-Semitic views of the nastiest and most primitive kind can be chanted on German streets.”

Roger Cukierman, of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France, said Jews were living in fear. “They are not shouting ‘Death to the Israelis’ on the streets of Paris,” he said. “They are screaming ‘Death to the Jews.’”

In Belgium, a sign at a cafe in Saint-Nicolas, a town located just east of the southern city of Liege reads: “Dogs are allowed in this establishment but Jews are not under any circumstances.” In major cities there are reports of Jewish stores being boycotted, of businesses refusing to sell to Jews.

Let us grant for a moment that there may be those who feel Arabs have legitimate grievances. Should we not wonder though why invariably disagreement with Israeli policies legitimizes calls for genocide and a renewal of Hitler’s efforts to wipe out the Jews wherever they may be?

In 2008 a State Department report already cautioned that “New forms of anti-Semitism often incorporate elements of traditional anti-Semitism. However, the distinguishing feature of the new anti-Semitism is criticism of Zionism or Israeli policy that – whether intentionally or unintentionally – has the effect of promoting prejudice against all Jews by demonizing Israel and Israelis and attributing Israel’s perceived faults to its Jewish character. This new anti-Semitism is common throughout the Middle East and in Muslim communities in Europe, but it is not confined to these populations…”

The best way to recognize the current anti-Israel hysteria for its anti-Semitic roots is by making use of Seymour Martin Lipset’s brilliant warning sometime back against “the dangerous confluence between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism” and his recipe for recognizing the difference between them. I would urge everyone to carefully note them and then consider contemporary criticism of Israeli actions in Gaza:

“Consider the source. Is the speaker someone with a history of anti-Jewish attitudes? His anti-Zionism is but a cover for anti-Semitism.”

“Critics who habitually single out Israel for condemnation while ignoring far worse actions by other countries (especially other Middle Eastern countries) are anti-Semitic.”

“Likening Israel to Nazi Germany, or to traditional anti-Jewish stereotypical behavior is another sure sign of Jew-baiting and anti-Semitism.”

“Attacks on the merits of Israel’s existence rather than individual government policies are anti-Semitic.”

By all these standards we can finally bury the myth under which Jew haters have so cleverly camouflaged their racism. When Israel is attacked by its critics simply because it refuses to commit suicide we know with certainty that they are no better than a long string of historic figures who sought nothing less than death to the Jews – and that they will most assuredly meet the same fate as all of our enemies.

Gabrielle #5 Friday August 1 — This was for your education on Anti-Semitism. It is alive and well . . . Especially in France, Germany and throughout Europe. — Just history repeating itself due to those who have not learned from it.

  2. Al Says:

Janet#25 Aug.2: Hi, I have a little material Louisianay, not my work, but let me see what I can find.

    How’s this
Cajun moon, where does your power lie
As you move across the southern sky
You took my babe way to soon
What have you done, Cajun moon
Someday babe, when you want your man
And you find him gone, just like the wind
Don’t trouble your mind whatever you do
‘cause he got me like he got you

    Paula#26
So tell me who can’t be difficult at times, you should see how difficult I can get, well no you shouldn’t, and who is perfect? Intimidated by money, you gotta be kidding me. Have not, want not or is it easy come, easy go. I don’t know.

    Al

  3. Al Says:

Michelle: I think Ralph#47 yesterday said it well. And this is not a direct quote. “How can any American possibly want their president to fail, if the President fails, America fails”. A congress that is working against the president, is a congress committing treason.

Racism and spite are two ugly traits. We all know that Bush wasn’t failing America, he was robbing it blind and trying to kill it. Wile stealing every civil right he could from the citizens of this nation. But damn it man, Obama is an honest man with nothing but good things and high hopes planned for America, both middle class and it’s poor and disadvantaged people. What’s wrong with taxing the super wealthy, they made that money off of the rest of us. To work against the President solely to see a black man fail along with the country is nothing other than pure evil.

The conservative right wing GOP are the Devil incarnate. They want to take all the Country’s money away and give it to their political cronies. And brag to their buddies, with all their secret societies like the Freemason’s, Skull and Bones, Klu Klux Klan, Bilderberg Group, Illuminati, ad infinitum. We are investing jack to maintain our infrastruture, think those 1%er’s give a shit?

Womens rights mean absolutely nothing to these monsters, and neither does the fate of this nation. Nothing but ME,ME,My,My,Mine for this bunch. They don’t even give a shit that the planet is dying. We could have had electric cars perfected long ago, and greener energy. But that idea was killed by our oil baron Friends From Texas. How many Americans Died when Bush attacked Iraq for their oil? He knew Bin Laden wasn’t there. But he wanted Saddam’s oil. I wouldn’t put it past the Bush Administration if they arranged the whole 9/11 tragedy.

I get so fu**ing bent knowing that OUR President cannot make a goddamn move because the GOP will not work with a Black Man. I can’t even begin to tell you how this affects me on a personal level.

I am friggin’ smoking mad at the racist bastards who call themselves Americans, don’t they know they are the worst of them all? The average, everyday Joe Bigot, this whole scenario would not work without him.

  4. Nancy Says:

The Obama administration on Friday condemned “outrageous” violations of an internationally brokered Gaza cease-fire by Palestinian militants and called the apparent abduction of an Israeli soldier a “barbaric” action…..

At the same time, Obama called the situation in Gaza “heartbreaking” and repeated calls for Israel to do more to prevent Palestinian civilian casualties.

That’s the same thing I said. Why aren’t you ripping him a new one??? Bunch of hypocrites.

  5. Patricia Says:

Rufus, may I take this one for you. Nancy is becoming an embarrassment to thinking women everywhere. Nancy#4, why can’t you just admit you were wrong and get on with it. Or at the very least, you can claim that you missed the trip down the Yellow Brick Road to get a brain.

But to help a sister out let me clue you again: Obama never compared civilian deaths in Israel to the civilian deaths in Gaza, he merely asked Israel to make more of an effort to try to limit the civilian casulties. You on the other hand did. – “Rufus, what killings of Israels citizens? Last report is 1000 palestinians dead (“a few deaths” you say) versus 3.”

So NO, that is not the same thing you said. Now who’s the hypocrite?

  6. Marian Says:

Why are you people entertaining that idiot? She is obviously just vying for attention.

  7. Irene Says:

Nancy#4, if you bother to answer a few of the salient questions that Rufus put to you, then your accusations of “Hypocrite” might have more weight.

  8. Juanita Says:

Nancy#4, are you french? If not, they could probably use another nut in the Rue, screaming at Israel.

  9. Monroe Says:

I would call this a cat fight, but it don’t qualify if one of the cats is brain dead.

  10. Monroe Says:

I would call this a cat fight, but it don’t qualify if one of the cats is brain dead.

  11. Irene Says:

Fuck you Monroe#10. There thousand times more ignorant men. And a woman doesn’t need needless harassment from any male.

  12. Howard Says:

You cave n!@@ers are a bowel movement. No one asked you smelly disease infested neanderthal apes to leave your caves in Europe.

Had you stayed in your natural habitat the dark dank urine and feces caves of which you mayonnaise monkeys come from the world would be a better place. You piss gum n!@@ers poisoned the world with your hatred.

  13. Owen Says:

If “Whitey” is gone where are you going to get your handouts from, Cracker? Lawd have mercy, you may actually have to get a real job.

  14. Scott Says:

In all honesty its probably a good thing that Obama got elected simply because it made white people realize “holy shit this is actually happening”. In other words, more white people are waking up and its in part thanks to Obama winning the election.

  15. Emma Says:

He should have just called his piece “I Am Desperate For Attention.”

  16. HOWIE Says:

    Rufus #31 and 36 yesterday:

I applaud your comments. They try to teach those who are so stuck because of their lack of knowledge about what is really going on in Gaza.

These kinds of people change their opinions from one newscast to the next — as long as their is death involved because they must be keeping a tally.

War sucks but if a neighborhood gang tried to enter my home and hurt and kill me and my family, I would do anything I could to annihilate them. I would not be keeping a tally of how many I killed.

It is silly to try to reach the minds of someone who has already mad up their minds to believe in a certain reality . . . even if it is totally wrong.

Thanks for using the brain that God gave you.

    HOWIE

  17. Patrica Says:

Monroe#10, allow me to echo Irene#11′s comment to you. Women don’t need assholes like you picking on them. Rufus made a statement to Nancy as just another person.

You are attacking her gender. Get lost creep.

  18. Larry Says:

“My Writing is Not Good Enough to Stand on its Own: Why I Had to Shock People into Reading My Thing”

  19. Dudley Says:

Has anyone reached his black best friend for a comment?

  20. Mimi Says:

Why do so many non POC want to use the N-word?! Seriously stop, you don’t sound ironic, clever or whatever the hell you think you sound like besides stupid, racist and hurtful.

  21. Brody Says:

“If the slur would not plausibly and accurately be used against you, then you really have no business whatsoever dictating it’s appropriate usage (if there is any).”

It’s really not a hard concept, but some people can be a bit slow.

  22. Van Says:

What is it about the n-word that makes some white folks so desperate to find a context in which they are allowed to use it? It’s like, white folks can’t say this one thing and we just can’t handle it.

  23. Katie Says:

I was called a nigger last night. So there’s no confusion, I’m a white girl. I was having an argument with a girlfriends new bf, and he said “you’re being a nigger”. I said “excuse me?!”

He says “look it up, the definition of a nigger is an uneducated person. You’re being retarded, you’re a nigger”. So of course I left the room and informed my other friend, whose bday party we were at, that I would be leaving because I was not going to allow someone to call me a nigger.

There were 4 black people there. They calmly tried to inform douchebag why he should not be using that word, and he argued w them that they did not know the “definition” of nigger, and he was allowed to say it.

So obviously, he almost got his ass whooped, and did manage to get his head bounced off the wall once or twice when he escalated the argument and pissed off one of my girlfriends. I’m still pretty mad about it.

  24. Alycedale Says:

WOW. The arrogance of telling actual Black people that THEY don’t know what the N-word means… That is astounding.

That makes me feel like maybe sometimes murder is ok?

  25. Helen Says:

Maybe we should start handing out a flow chart: Should I Use the N-Word -> Are You Black? -> No -> Then NO. -> B-but… -> I SAID NO.

  26. Graham Says:

There was a Key and Peele sketch about an app that determined if it was okay for you to say it. probably one of their best.

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kXgY_F

  27. Xena Says:

I don’t think there are that many people who don’t realize that there is still vitriolic racism at work in this country. There is a way to communicate it without using the N-word in a headline that is bound to upset some of the same people you are defending.

A headline like: “Republicans are Racists” would still generate attention and uses no offensive language.

  28. Jesse Says:

“But it’s not fair!!! How come they can say it and I can’t?! My black friend says it around me!”

Can’t tell you how many times I have had that argument. White people: you get literally everything else so please just acknowledge that that word is off limits.

  29. Elizabeth Says:

Katie#23, I am also a white woman and my husband is black. I was called a nigger by a black coworker of ours because I “became a nigger the moment I had a nigger dick in me.” Excuse me, what?!

My other friend-coworker (also black) who witnessed this was horrified and told her to shut up and to knock it off. Offending-coworker’s response? “Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

Once that dick is in you, your skin color doesn’t matter.” I simply stated that language wasn’t work appropriate and asked her to leave my desk. Then she said I was acting white. Umm. Yeah.

Of course, I took it to our manager and she looked like a deer in headlights. And somehow, offending-coworker didn’t get fired. She got written up.

Then she tried to tell me I “misunderstood” her and she couldn’t believe I didn’t get the “joke,” and asked me why I had to snitch on her ……yeah, ok. I wasn’t falling into that trap.

I respectfully asked her to stay out of my business and only to speak with me if it was work related. She agreed to do that. Even though she didn’t get fired, she did leave me (and my husband, as we all work together) alone after that incident, so that was good.

I don’t understand why anyone uses the slur. I don’t use it, ever. I don’t think anyone really should but who am I to determine what anyone other than my self and my children say? (I would speak up though if say I had been at the party you were at, or a similar situation like that.)

I am glad people tried to handle things for you. That guy had it coming.

  30. Ginger Says:

My personal favorite is listening to white people try to tell black people they shouldnt use that word, either. Because obviously white people know what’s best for everyone else, and dictating what words non white people can and can’t say is not only NOT racist, but will help end racism. OBVIOUSLY.

  31. Grace Says:

Elizabeth#29, your post really hit home. I have had a lot of white guys ask me if I ever slept with a black person. Everyone said that if I did he would not be interested in dating me.

It used to hurt until I told my aunt when she asked me what had made me so upset. She told me to say, with my cutest smile, “Why you don’t think I would appreciate a tiny dick afterwards?”

The first time I said it, I thought the guy was going to hit me. So now I only do it when I am in a safe public place.

The look on their faces is always worth the effort. LOL.

  32. Eric Says:

Wow. I have to tell you, I never use that word. Neither do the people around me. The topic does two things. It shocks people like me into paying attention, and it draws in the people that actually feel that way.

Jesus, put on your big girl panties. It is a word, and as long as it remains in the vernacular it is going to be used in discussions of race relations. Declair it illegal or get over your self.

  33. Sam Says:

This is to the author. It’s a pretty valuable thing to have a black friend you can run that by, like say me. When I deck you for saying it, you’ll know not to print it.

  34. Oscar Says:

Eric#32, You sound like you have no idea about the kind of implications that this word holds. The “it’s just a word” argument is just so, so tired.

  35. Nancy/2 Says:

Eric #32, Why would some random columnists use of the n-word shock you into paying attention? And attention to what? His opinion piece? Are you unaware that racism still exists?

  36. Jackson Says:

Everyone is jumping on this guy, and that title was NOT a good way to go about it, but he was abso-fucking-lutley correct about the Anti-Obama push. Teabaggers and run o the mill GOP’ers are pissed that a ‘sub human black’ is in the whitehouse. You can see their language acrobatics trying to avoid the Nword when discussing Obama (socialism, muslim, athiest, white enslaver, welfare pusher, etc). And thats when they DONT use the Nword.

Hes absolutely right about the America. Liberals and the Democrats have become so fucking tolerant and complicit to right wing ideals and views that intolerance is tolerated in the name of tolerance. Which is fucking stupid, because if you tolerate intolerance, you are just being intolerant by proxy.

  37. Adam Says:

Imprison blacks at a rate in excess of 500% that of whites for the same crime, give college-educated, clean record blacks the same hiring opportunities as a convicted white felon, or interrogate a black guy for trying to enter his own home, and no one bats an eye.

Say the “N-word” in an article or recording, and everyone loses their fucking mind.

This is exactly the problem with today’s discussions about racism.

  38. Michael Says:

Someone who belongs to the party of the Klan should not be writing an article like that, and using that as a claim that OTHER people are racist… especially since the author has been in the Democrat party since segregation, and so was probably IN the Klan…

Considering some of his books have been banned and criticized for liberal use of the very word he is now using yet again… one has to ask WHO exactly are the unnamed racists using this word? Why, the author of course.

We’ve seen this before with other “reformed” klansmen in the Democrat party… Robert Byrd or Harry Truman anyone? Everyone else is racist, but not me, I WAS in the klan, but now I’m “reformed.”

Now I just accuse other, nameless, people of racism… which I have the practiced vocabulary to illustrate what these unnamed racists might say…

The only person I see writing racist screed, is the author. He is not quoting anyone but himself…

  39. Traci Says:

Not that this is the exact case, but there are a certain number of non-Black men that get these sad little highs or figurative (perhaps literal) boners from using that term unnecessarily, because…it makes them feel tough. *then they rush back to the safety of their home environment.

  40. Carter Says:

Adam#37, Sweet baby Jeesus. Even if it was meant ironically who gives a flying fuck? It’s still in EXTREMELY poor taste and just should never be fucking uttered by ANYONE in the white community.

That one statement completely undermined anything positive the article might have stated.

If I saw the piece of shit on the street, I’d be hard pressed not to want to walk up to him and kick his lily white ass.

  41. Matt Says:

i think this is the stupidest debate ever, if a nigger can say nigger but a cracker can’t then that’s racisim. Free speech and all that shit. You niggas be crazy. Oh I can’t say that because I’m white? Racist. Get a damn life and stop making everything a cause.

Michelle, no one of importance cares about your stupid blog anyways.

  42. Denise Says:

So you can use the word “Nigger” as long as you aren’t racist? Sounds logical.

  43. Jason Says:

Matt#41, please make my day and use it around me. You are the kind of coward that is so brave on a blog. But out in public you will literally kiss a black man’s ass sucking up to him.

If you even thought about using that word in public around a black man you would be his bitch for life. Go ahead and practice that “free speech” in public.

  44. Shawn Says:

The best thing that comes from something of this nature, is to drag the cowards out of the shadows who refer to President Obama this way. It’s beyond disgusting, and equally as pathetic are the repub talking points we hear now… they constantly throw b.s. at us trying to make us not believe what they definitely are… racist white guys and gals, rigid ignorant jaded idiots who don’t have the common sense God gave a rock.

Let them keep their hate inside. It will eventually kill them. And meanwhile, people see this ignorant hate and it pushes them away from the repub party.

It’s a shame that an intelligent black gentleman has to be the fall guy for it, but it seems there’s the reality.

  45. Harris Says:

These conversations never cease to amaze ME. People present these issues of Racism as if people of color should feel like victims. History confirms that racism is product of fear.

Those who fear, are the real victims. Being trapped in a cycle of offensive racist behavior deny one’s ability to live. People of color do not practice fear tactics, and therefore cannot be victims.

This Fear, is a reaction to some policy, practice, or procedure that inhibits the quality of life. It is a practice of Racism.

So, if you are so afraid of people of color that you have to practice fear through racism. How does that make people of color, victims. Why does it matter to them if you are in fear.

Case in point; you are writing this article in some state, (Brick Building) other than where I am. You may be afraid that I may succeed where I am right now. But should I be concerned about you and fear with you about my potentials.

I don’t subscribe to, believe in, nor practice “Hate” or “Racism”. And I certainly don’t fear them. Both of them must come to me and seek permission to enter my world, and I make them bow down in my presence. They say to me all the time…”Can I Hate You” sometimes I say to them…”Go Ahead; but i’m watching you in your hateful state.

  46. Donald Says:

The white republican hate in 21st century America towards President Obama is the same hate that has heaped on Jackie Robinson, Dr. King, Medgar Evers, the 4 freedom riders who were murdered for registering black people to vote in the South, the four little girls whose church was bombed and they innocently were killed.

There is no difference in the level of hate and if the republcans could kill Obama they would. If the so called pollsters and their racists spin doctors want to know how hateful whites are to President Obama simply ask the black folks in the south who are living yet today and they will tell you.

They will tell these lying and manipulative pollsters and spin doctors that President Obama is doing an excellent job considering all the bigotry and hate being hurled his way along with the road blocks.

  47. Doris Says:

The bigots make excuses for their dislike of the black president by saying it’s his policies that are wrong but won’t say anything good about him either (there must be one good thing about him bigots can come up with if he was elected, such as being a good family man which he certainly is) and then at the same breath they deny being a bigot.

  48. Lettie Says:

It is my best recommendation for everyone to pray, pray and keep praying. The hate towards President Obama is going to be repudiated in the name of Jesus. These folks is going to reap what they sow. God help them for they know not what they do.

  49. Greg Says:

Donald#46, White Republican Hate – right. That’s why some LIBERAL just called Obama a NI**ER in print. Not a Republican, a LIBERAL. That’s why LIBERALS keep bringing up race. Because Republicans are obsessed with it. Thanks for clearing that up. You are confused. Here’s a hint for you: Those freedom riders will killed by DEMOCRATS, not Republicans. And perhaps you don’t know: Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican, James Earl Ray a Democrat. The four little girls who died in the church bombing – Democrats did it. The KKK – it’s members were Democrats, though a couple of them later, WELL AFTER THEY RENOUNCED THE KKK, became Republicans.

Black folk will tell you Obama is doing a good job? Black unemployment is at record high levels. If that’s what they call ‘doing a good job’ I’d hate to see what happens to them when he does poorly.

  50. Lois Says:

Racists won’t get it but maybe it will help some hiding behind their denial that that’s what it really is, finally wake up a little.

  51. Greg Says:

Doris#47, No, actually the bigots and racists are the ones who keep bringing up bigotry and racism. But I can do better than that. I can show you one. Go look in a mirror, you’ll see her.

  52. Alycedale Says:

    Greg#49etc:

You are obviously one of those paid trolls employed to go from blog to blog using different aliases to push your LSOS propaganda.

The Republican party or 1860 is not the same as the party or 2014. Review the history. The Republicans (1800s) was the party of the north and the Democrats was the party of the south.

When Johnson said that he was going to sign the Voting Rights Act, the Civil Rights Act, Housing Acts and institute a war on poverty the Dixiecrats told him that they would leave the Party. They did and became members of the Republican party.

This is the only president that has been called liar to his face, had a mayor wave her finger in his face, has had several members of the military refuse to be redeployed because they claimed they did not believe that he was the Commander-in-Chief and published their comments on the web. They have faced court martial and were kicked out of the service and served time.

In 2008, within 24 hours of his election Mitch McConnell said that the only thing that the party would focus on is making him a one term president.

From the very beginning no matter what he did or said they disagreed with him even when he was willing to sign bills with every thing they asked for. The Republicans said no. That is not politics.

As much as Bush was disliked, a candidate was not penalized because he was civil to him. But candidates are penalized when they are civil to Pres. Obama.

Look at what was said about Christie before the bridge scandal. Republicans did not like the fact that he shook his hand when the President visited NJ. The hatred towards Pres. Obama goes beyond politics.

Now he is being sued for taking executive action once. How many times is Pres. Bush do it and no one wanted to sue him. As a black people we are seeing more overt racism since 2008 than before.

There are also bobble head dolls of the president with vaudeville features. They had a float in a parade for everyone to see of his head on an outhouse. There have been caucasians dressed in black face calling themselves Barack Obama in the style of vaudeville.

There have been protest especially when ACA was signed with people saying a black man cannot be a legitimate president.

Yet, you and your fellow racist LSOSs troll the blogasphere with these disingenuous claims. Those who make it their mission to be denying they are racists are racists.

  53. Greg Says:

Lettie#48, See, you people, so full of hate, really are clueless. Obama is actually a very likable guy. The only ones talking about hating anyone – well that’s the liberals, because that’s what they do so they figure others do, too. But they’re wrong. I’m a good example.

I don’t hate Obama, not one bit. I dislike a lot of the things he says and does, but as far as the man goes, he’s not that bad.

  54. Levin Says:

This article seems like a thinly disguised rant of a racist finally getting in his shot at using the potent n-word to satisfy a long-standing desire to vent his bitter hatred.

In college, I was confronted by these types of white people on several occasions. They appeared to tolerate some blacks as the acceptable thing to do, until they could no longer hold back their true feelings, and the n-word came spewing out at some unexpected moment.

One guy, with whom I’d shared many nights of slamming beers and hanging out at the campus pug, just blurted it out one night, as if he needed to get it in to add to his bucket list, or pass some fraternity initiation task…who knows. I remained stalwart, refusing to give him the satisfaction of my being offended. We never spoke again for the remainder of college, as he had so clearly chosen sides.

Mr. Collier somewhat awkwardly threw in this offensive phrase to reveal, as he explains, what what was whispered frequently in his circle of non-black friends and acquaintances. Really?

I think he just needed to take his shot while the White House still has its current tenants, and vaguely connect it with a political story of little relevance. The dissonance is glaring, but his self-satisfaction is complete and satiated.

  55. Greg Says:

This is just a guy trying to get attention, telling the same old lie: He claims people are against Obama because of the color of his skin. He forgets: Obama is half white. So which color are they against? The white half, or the black half?

People are against Obama because of what he says, what he does and the severe negative impact these things have on their lives. Oh, I’m not saying there may or may not be a handful of people stuck in the 1930s who don’t like Obama because of the amount and type of pigment in his skin, but they’re inconsequential.

Notice the only people who say his skin color is a problem ARE LIBERALS.

  56. Dave Says:

nigger? cracker? chink? wetback? They should ALL be deported. Well, except for the crackers.

  57. Mathew Says:

What lengths will these libtards go to to falsely paint Obummers critics as racist. I don’t care what color he is he is a stinkin traitor same as Bush. Send them both to the Hague along with there cronies and puppet master. Not sure who that is but I’m pretty sure the same hand was up both there asses.

  58. George,WNge,WN Says:

Niggers, get over it. If the word offends black people let them take it up with themselves as they are the main perpetuators of it.

And sorry but it makes perfect sense for them to print the word every rapper says ad nauseam.

  59. Henry Says:

Obama’s 1/2 White! That would make him a Wigger or Cracka!

  60. Anonymous Says:

    Henry#59,
How is he half white if his mom has a jewish last name and does jewish things like be a porn whore, sleep with and have babies with third worlders, has greasy black hair, and obama is allowed to run the jew-s govt.. and obama is an anti white.

Wtf so now we can just forget people who have names like speilberg, and stein, and dunham are jews and just make up whatever in our heads?

  61. Dennis Says:

Let this be a lesson to African Americans, Asian Americans, Mexican Americans on how we going to show RESPECT to the PRESIDENCY when the next White Man comes into office.

We have a road map of the last 6 years and we must learn from it. The degrading remarks will not be because the color of that individual skin but the policies we disagree with…….if our eyes was not open….then we are truly still in chains.

  62. Liz Says:

This is nothing new. – Since President Obama has been elected we see the true colors of this nation. This hatred is what is going to destroy America.

  63. Shawn Says:

Dont unevolved third worlders from africa openly insult whites in jew media, jew advertised rap, and jewlywood 24\7? They rob beat and kill off whites in mob violence in america everyday.

Fuck these niggers and jews who could never acheive shit without us whites giving them free handouts 24/7.

Soon either we will exterminate the jews and these blacks will be in labor prisons repaying all their free handouts they have been robbing from our families.

  64. Kim Says:

Who is shocked that white people call black people n****rs? Who needed to see this headline to let people know that there are white supremacists? Nobody is that clueless. In denial maybe, but not clueless. This headline served no purpose other than to shock and incite.

  65. Nancy3 Says:

So the question then becomes “who read the article”? Though he is in favor of President Obama and his admistration and is saying that the far right wingers are using racism or sublte racism when speaking about the president and/or his policies, who actually paid attention to it.

I see what he was trying to do, but he should have found a different way to grab readers. I was on a far right site not to long ago (I’m mad that I can’t remember) but the site itself is anti-Obama, but they put up the article and then took it down.

All THEY seen was the headline and ran, more like sprinted, with it without reading the article at all.
So, I see what he was trying to do, but he went about it is just a simply bad manner.

  66. Lana Says:

Liz hatred is destroying this blog too

  67. Dee Says:

Racially insensitive headline? – Please it was an insult!! If this does not give you one more reason to vote nothing will!!!

Well at least we know where he stands. He has the nerve to say it. How many think it but would never say it, those are the ones you have to watch out for.

  68. HOWIE Says:

    Right On Elkizabeth!

  69. KT Says:

Kim#64 Actually, I am also offended, even though, afaik, I have no melatonin rich blood in me… at least not for MANY, many generations.

However I think it may also have served to draw in a few genuine bigots who agreed w/ the headline’s sentiments, but then were shocked to be chastised later in the article.

I dunno if it was ‘worth it” because trying to convince small minded people they are wrong can be an exercise in futility…. but something has to get through to these morons…. maybe this at least made a chink in their armor?

  70. Dennis Says:

Nancy3#65, If you were on a far right sight and they took it down quickly, doesn’t it make more sense that they removed it due to the content and not the headline? Think about it…and take all the time you will need…..no hurry.

  71. Scott Says:

Howie#68, I couldn’t find “Elkizabeth.” What was her number?

  72. Becca Says:

Nancy3#65, You mean another way, that people wouldn’t read? Passivity can be productive, over a very long time. Directness is better and more effective. Softsoap = no change.

  73. Nancy3 Says:

Dennis#70, I don’t think you read what I wrote. You are pretty much saying EXACTLY what I already stated. That no one read the contents of the article they just saw the title.

The far right site put it up because they thought it was an article criticizing or clowning Obama. Clearly they were wrong.

But the journalist who wrote the article was trying to cause a dialog… he did but not because the contents of his article was inciteful, but because people thought he was being racist based on the title of the article alone.

  74. Doug Says:

Dee#67, Thank you Dee, the naive generation of today are clueless it’s a shame. I was always taught to respect the Highest Office of this Great Nation.

If he said this about an ordinary African American Citizen I would take the view of Racist and lets move on. But this is the President and First Lady and First Children, that represent the U.S.A.

I bet you my last dollar, that these so called positive people won’t get angry over this, but let some unknown SISTER on Facebook call them a b*tch and then they want to make a fight video.

Oh well, they won’t care until they become the “THE HELP” again.

  75. Nehes Says:

This is why it’s Imperative that U.S. Blacks be involved with this Pivotal 2014 Midterms. Make some serious statements. #theblindinglightofmisinformationmustend.

  76. Lawrence Says:

Will this news rag allow an opposing headline, like ” F-U Mutha F’krs ” and Kiss the N-word ” Black azz 4 two more years….now deal with it you commie Bast*rds.

  77. Manny Says:

Shawn#63, you’re extremely angry, or a crazy racist.

  78. Shea Says:

Come on everyone chant the motto ” Your rights end where my feelings begin”

  79. Melvin Says:

The Headline should have read “Drone King in the White House”

  80. Albert Says:

Liberals got some foul mouths on them… Their shit is more deadly than people walking around with guns.

  81. Shawn Says:

Quit letting jesus rape your asshole and brain. The left right\libertarian is all jewslave propaganda. Most people here know at least half that. (Although many love following the burg-el-stiens who make up and push open border liberatarianisim)

  82. Hubert Says:

Obama’s not a nigger. He’s a half breed. Jeeze! Get it straight already! :P

  83. BIG WILLIE Says:

he didnt say ape, porchmonkey, etc.. why is it offensive?

  84. Tony Says:

An obvious (and grotesque) publicity stunt from a writer and a publication no one has heard of before today.
He got the attention he was seeking.

  85. Daniel Says:

wow, look at the niggers who DIDNT READ THE STORY but decided to give their 5 cents anyway,

  86. Anthony Says:

BIG WILLIE#83, Yes “Porchmonkey”!! Bringin it back! :P

  87. Gennie Says:

    LOL!

  88. Sarah Says:

the writer of the article is running TOO POOR so he needs to invent some news to MAKE more MONEY for his pension time.

  89. Debby Says:

Wow, talk about freedom of speech… gone to far!

  90. Will Says:

This asshole will be dead before the end of the year. Why waste time and press coverage on this racist fool?.

  91. Dave Says:

    n-word..say it nigger…nigger…FUCKING NIGGER…pc pussies!!!!!!!!!!!!

  92. Michael Says:

This guy that printed the article is an dumb ass. Not because he told the truth, but to be facetious about it. Listen, the reason many hate Obama is NOT because he is a Negroid; or half a one.

The reason is that he is not even a legal president first of all, and this has been proven. But of course the government( oh, sorry the new mafia) will get away with it.

Second, he acts like a tyrant, is a communist, has communist ideas and polices, and is the worst president we have ever had.

If society wasn’t so brainwashed over the last 60 years about race, and what the Negroid really is, this would be no problem. Really though, I am not into “hate” many people have got me totally wrong. I am a separatist. Big time. There is a difference between a separatist and a hater.

To “hate” something or someone for a reason that is not their fault is ignorance yes, but it’s also human nature to want our “species” to survive and “protect” it. Integration is not the way to go.

  93. A Proud White Man Says:

it was written and published by Jews, let me guess. It looks like a backhanded spit in the face of Obama. Under pretense of defending him from racists, they spit on him. Jews don’t have much courage…

Jews started attacking Obama, because they think he is not fanatic enough in defense of the Jew Squatter State In Palestine called Israel. They want him to sacrifice even more…

  94. Dominique Says:

I just don’t think I can read your blog any more Michelle. There’s nothing constructive going on here. It’s just hate hate hate and more hate. Everybody has an opinion but I never see any solutions. It’s just a bitch fest of “do me” queens

  95. Jeff Says:

The color of his skin has nothing to do with it. He could be purple for all I care it still wouldn’t change the fact that he’s incompetent, clueless, criminal, egomaniac, with zero experience, who’s never managed even a lemonade stand.

As both a state and federal senator he did nothing, not one notable bill introduced, only voted on fluff or bills to steer money to his cronies, like mooochelle who had a $316K a year position with the University of Chicago Hospitals after then state senator Obama steered a few million in grant money their way.

  96. Wayne Says:

I don’t like his white half either. Does that make me a racist.

  97. Sharon Says:

Stop with the racism crap!!! He needs to be accountable for his actions and all I see is someone who constantly blames someone or some thing for his inability to be a true leader. This has absolutely nothing to do with race but it does have a lot to do with the maturity of an individual.

  98. Clete Says:

I don’t use the n-word but I fail to see the difference between a white calling a black a nigger and a black calling a white a cracker. Can you explain the difference to me??

  99. Ty Says:

Jeff#95, I totally agree with you Jeff…well said!!

  100. John Says:

Wayne#96, No because you are an equal oppurrtunity hater.

  101. Larry Says:

Clete#98, A “cracker” is a Jim Crow southern democrat, ironically.

  102. Dominique Says:

I do like Al and those like him that might have social causes and help direct people to websites to try effect change. Why just talk about it ? That’s action and leadership I can respect

  103. Anita Says:

that “brian” dude is a douche nozzle I don’t like how he uses his hands while talking
Maybe they’re saying that because they put him in their house and he’s simply acting as their “Nigger” They did say “Pro piece” LOL

  104. Kelly Says:

this is bullshit.every newspaper is owned by these cooporations.they were told to say that, to try & cause more problems. black agains white, gay against straight, muslims against Christians…bla bla bla…same shit different day..

  105. Mary Lou Says:

OMG Jeff#95, couldn’t have said it any better. Very sad that people just refuse to see the truth and still support this liar, fraud and cheat.

He needs to be arrested for treason and pulled out of the White House; and have everything he has done nullified.

  106. Richelle Says:

Wayne#96, No but that statement just makes you an idiot.

  107. Ed Says:

Clete#98, Or one black person calling another of the same a nigger, as I hear almost every day when I leave my house and go out into the public.

In less than 5 minutes I heard one person refer in his conversation with another, he used that word no less that 20 times while talking to the other person.

Everything was N this and N that, and what the F, Ngrs? Yet if one person of another color were to use that word we are called Racists? Why the double standard?

If you don’t want people to use that word then EVERYONE needs to remove it from their language and enforce that removal when they raise their children making sure that they know if they repeat it that it is a terrible word.

Using it constantly in your conversations only makes sure that it continues to be a bone of contention between people of different colors.

  108. Salvatore Says:

Racism has nothing to do with anything ..he is just an idiot & reckoning The good old USA !!!

  109. Dan Says:

Well I’m shocked that anyone is shocked, just like I’m offended by the easily offended. With regard to this guy, Obama, who is definitely an arrogant, pathological liar, narcissist and ego maniac ass. When you’re one of these, it’s no matter what color/race you think he is!

  110. Milgar Says:

I do not understand why the words “Negar,Niger, Negro”, etc. is such a big deal… The word originated as a neutral term referring to black people, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun “Negro”= Black, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger (“color black”) Why is OK to say “Black” in English, but is not OK to say it in Spanish?

Is this not some RACISM toward the roman languages, because in all Roman languages the word black is a derivative of the word Negro!!!

Enough already with this Racism, currently the negros are bigger racists in my opinion!!! Also why it is OK the blacks to call them self Nigger, but for white it is not allow? Is it not some kind of Racism toward the whits then???

  111. Samuel Says:

Words are just sounds that the mouth makes that the heart conveys. It has no meanings to people if people just choose not to give any attention to it. Sticks and bricks may break my bones but words won’t hurt if you don’t give it loans.
