3 Issues, 3 Calls, 3 Minutes

Posted by Michelle Moquin on March 26th, 2009

No excuses. EVERYONE has the time to pick up the phone. I did minutes ago and it was simple and easy.  So what am I talking about?

Members of Congress will begin debating President Obama’s budget this week, with a vote likely set for next week.

What are you going to do to make sure that your voice is heard? What are you going to do to make sure that the debate that will take place is not dominated by special interests and partisan voices intent on keeping the status quo?

I’ll tell you what I did…I picked up the phone and made 3 calls in 3 minutes to my representatives. AND, I reported my calls to Congress by filling out the simple easy form…maybe another minute.

I live in California’s 8th congressional district. If you do too, pick up the phone and let Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, and Sen. Barbara Boxer know where you stand on President Obama’s budget.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-08)

CALL: 202-225-4965

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)

CALL: 202-224-3841

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA)

CALL: 202-224-3553

Let them know you support these 3 issues:

    * Renewable energy to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil

    * Making health care more affordable for every American by cutting costs

    * Improving education so our children are prepared for the jobs of the 21st Century

Here is a sample script:

Hello, my name is __________ and I’m calling you from __________ (city or town).

I’m calling today because we are in the grips of the worst economic crisis in generations — and President Obama needs the support of every member of Congress to create jobs, fix our economy and rebuild and renew America.

The President has proposed a budget that is honest, responsible and invests in the priorities we need to get our economy moving again and create jobs now and in the future, including:

  • Renewable energy to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil
  • Making Health Care more affordable for every American by cutting costs
  • Improving education so our children are prepared for the jobs of the 21st Century

Can I count on Rep./Sen. _________ to support the President’s plan?

Easy yes?

Click here when you’re done calling.

Oh…so you don’t live in California? No problem. You can look up your representatives’ contact information by clicking here.

Last week, thousands canvassed their communities to talk with neighbors about the need for a new direction. Now, it’s time to take that message to Washington.

We can’t afford to ignore the long-term threats to our prosperity. Now is the time to build the foundation for a recovery that lasts.

Just do it. – Thanks :)

DNSR!: Good to hear from you again.  I love the Bush-less! – We clear-cut him out of the White House…why not trim a little bush at your own house too? I bet BNMV!’s garden is beautiful!

Mary:  Ah…the things we love most are sometimes the most difficult to get. My philosophical thought for this morning :)

Jani: Me too. And thanks for giving me the heads up on the time. I didn’t switch it when daylight kicked it. It is done now.

Manny: Why not? Good luck!

Gratefully your blog host,

    Guam

Guam-21 year old Danielle Dizon will be heading to the states to audition for the popular FOX show, “So you think you can dance.”
Dizon was picked hands down, by a panel of judges for her choreography, and dance routine. She will now have a fully paid for trip to the states to get a shot at winning the big prize.
Dizon is from Mangilao, and is a communications major at the University of Guam. She is a 10 year veteran of dance, so we wish her the best of luck.
FOX 6 is already crafting another competition for next year, so all you dancers, start practicing.
