Keith Olbermann Unmasks Saboteurs Behind Phony Town Hall Protests

Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 12th, 2009

Good morning.

I am headed to downtown San Francisco this afternoon to give my two on health care reform at Sen. Feinstein’s office. I hear that people have been flooding through all week supporting Obama in his push. We also know that in town hall meetings there are those that oppose….and they are trying to drown out those that want change. It’ll be interesting to see if they are hanging out in SF too. I’ll let you know after my visit today.

So….did you all see the special comment from Olbermann yesterday?  Oh..it’s a goody. I’ve posted it especially for you. It’s not just the insurance companies that we need to watch out for, but the saboteurs, the instigators of all of this crap that is pushed into the publics minds, via Fox News and other right-winged media channels.

Check it out….It starts out with Palin’s death panel and goes on and on from there. I think it is a must see.

And repeating the words of Olbermann: “THINK”

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Helena: All I know is that our present health care system isn’t working for everybody, and to me that means it doesn’t work, period. I am personally leaning toward a single payer plan. The HR 676 is the plan I’m checking out, but I am still doing my research. In regards to preventative medicine: I think any plan has to include this. Just like in Michael Moore’s movie ‘Sicko’, I believe I remember Doctors getting paid more money for getting people to quit smoking. I think preventative medicine is a must and getting to the root of a medical problem instead of just putting on the quick fix band-aid.
Al: Nope…no feather duster needed. I’m not saying that he didn’t make an honest mistake, but my point being, even if he meant to say ‘Obama’, he still could’ve reworded it asking her opinion and Obama’s opinion.  Hillary is an intelligent woman, and she’s got opinions just like everyone else.
It wouldn’t have bothered me if he was asking for Obama’s opinion but it does bother me that he asked for the opinion of two males, regardless of which male he meant to say, and he didn’t ask for hers. I mean she is the Secretary of  State. I just don’t see this incident happening this way if she was a man. I think Hillary was in the right to say what she did. If she didn’t stand up for herself as a strong, highly capable woman in a country where women are certainly not revered, how would that look? Especially since the context  of her trip out there included meeting with women  who have been raped and abused….treated as weapons of war.
Have a great day everyone!
Gratefully your blog host,
    Donald Trump’s 6 Secrets to Keeping Your Edge in Life
    Donald Trump
    The Trump Organization
    At an age when most people have contemplated retirement and are slowing down, Donald Trump, at age 63, is busy ramping up his activities. In addition to developing hotels and golf courses around the world (including in the Dominican Republic, Dubai, Washington, DC, and Scotland), he has had resounding success with the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, founded the online education company Trump University, gotten his golf handicap down to three, written another best seller, Think Like a Champion, and concluded the 2009 season finale of his TV show, Celebrity Apprentice, by selecting a 75-year-old dynamo named Joan Rivers as champion. The series has received terrific ratings and will soon be entering its ninth season.
    Even in trying times, the charismatic, outspoken Donald Trump manages to stay energetic and stimulated by life. And as we all know, money alone can’t do that for you. So Bottom Line/Retirement spoke with Trump to find out how he stays so productive and keeps challenging himself. Here are his six secrets…
    1. RELENTLESSLY CONFRONT YOUR FEARS
    You can’t let fear — fear of the new, fear of growing old, fear of failure — settle into place in any part of your life. Fear has a way of making problems bigger than they are. The trick is to recognize your fears and then zap them with a problem-solving attitude, faith in yourself and hard work.
    Example: I owed billions of dollars in the early 1990s, and many people thought I was finished. Major newspapers were announcing my demise. The difference is that I didn’t believe that I was finished for one second, no matter what people thought. I simply refused to give in to the negative circumstances and kept working to overcome my challenges.
    Useful exercise: Rename your fears. Call them “concerns.” Just using a different word can affect your approach and reactions. “Fears” create blocks that will only hinder your creative thinking. “Concerns” can be broken down into units of thought and dealt with in an orderly and persistent manner.
    2. MAKE YOUR COMMUNICATIONS SHORT, FAST AND DIRECT
    As someone on the receiving end of conversations with people who do not know how to edit themselves, I know what agony means. I think to myself, How long is it going to take for this person to get to his/her point?
    People are very, very busy today. They are overloaded with information. Don’t drone on and on. Don’t force people to sort through it all to get to the important stuff, the good stuff. More often than not, your listeners — whether it’s your family, business associates or those in a social setting — will be grateful for your ability to get to the essence quickly for them.
    In any conversation, I give myself an internal deadline. I say as much as I can in as few words as possible. If you practice this technique every day, whether it’s relaying a message to someone, writing a letter or ordering lunch, it will become natural for you — and you will accomplish more.
    3. PUT BAD NEWS IN PERSPECTIVE
    The way you handle difficult situations in life says a lot about who you are. The same event can wipe out one person but make another more tenacious. Whenever I am in the midst of difficult times, I ask myself, Is this a blip or a catastrophe?
    This question reminds me that most problems are temporary if you keep your equilibrium and maintain your momentum. Realize that there will always be blips in your daily life but that you never know when the tide is going to turn in your favor, provided you are paying attention and still working toward something worthwhile.
    Example: I was scheduled to make a brief appearance on a boat docked in New York City and then get off before it departed on an evening-long cruise around Manhattan. I was about to leave when I noticed that the boat was already in the middle of the river! I wasn’t too happy about this turn of events, but it wasn’t the end of the world. Instead of fuming and complaining, I adjusted my mood and treated it as an unexpected adventure. I actually wound up having a memorable evening, meeting some fascinating people and getting some great ideas.
    4. DON’T TAKE YOURSELF SO SERIOUSLY
    Over the years, I have been offered a lot of TV commercials and turned most of them down. But my favorite one allowed me to display a self-deprecating attitude that I think took people by surprise. It’s a commercial for Visa. I’m shown on the top of Trump Tower in Manhattan holding my credit card when a gust of wind blows it out of my hand, down many scores of floors to the street below. Next, I am seen rummaging in a dumpster in search of my lost card. A well-dressed passerby remarks, “And I thought he was doing so well.”
    I do take my work seriously — but the ability to laugh at myself keeps my perspective intact, adds an element of fun to my endeavors and makes people realize that I’m a complex person, concerned about more than just ambition.
    5. NEVER LET ONE PERSON DETERMINE YOUR WELL-BEING
    Several years ago, the now notorious hedge fund manager, Bernie Madoff, approached me in Palm Beach, Florida, where we both owned property. He said, “Why don’t you invest in my fund?” I had enough going on in my own businesses, and I didn’t know much about him, so I declined.
    I know a lot of very smart people who became victims of Madoff’s unscrupulous scheme and had their futures severely compromised by it.
    Money is not a prerequisite to live an active, exciting life, but it does provide security, confidence and comfort. The takeaway here is that you must be careful with your financial transactions no matter how much you like or respect a person. Never bet the ranch on one person or one person’s idea. Spread your money around with numerous people and organizations. While we have no guarantees in life, we can take precautions.
    6. TURN YOUR PASSIONS INTO PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES
    One thing that I’ve learned about life is that it should be a series of discoveries. Remember how exciting it was to learn to ride a bike? If you can capture that kind of excitement as you age, you will never “stop” — you will always be on your way to finding where you are meant to be in life. Remember, whatever you do at this point in your life, it’s better to love it. Enthusiasm on a big scale equals passion, and passion is what gives you the resiliency to take yourself to amazing places.
    Example: I love playing golf, so when I was looking for new real estate projects, I wanted to build the world’s greatest golf course. I spent five years reviewing sites around the world and turned down more than 200 possibilities. Finally, I found a dramatic, 1,400-acre landscape in Aberdeen on the north coast of Scotland with miles of spectacular oceanfront and sand dunes of immense proportion. The place had sentimental meaning for me — I have Scottish roots, and my mother’s first language was Gaelic. I knew this was the right place, but the scope of development and the cost, one billion pounds, was such that no one thought I would get approval to go ahead. In fact, building this course became such a saga that the BBC hosted several documentaries and HBO did a feature. I’ll be breaking ground in 2010.
    Bottom Line/Retirement interviewed real estate developer and entrepreneur Donald Trump, chairman and president of the Trump Organization, New York City. He is author of the recent Think Like a Champion (Vanguard). http://www.trumpthinklikeachampion.com.
    Finally we on Guam are beginning to take the addiction to tobacco seriously.
    ____________________________________
    GUAM – In our ongoing series covering efforts to curb the deadly and pervasive addiction to tobacco on Guam, Guam News Factor spoke with four Senators who have emerged as key players in the much-anticipated passage of a strengthened version of Bill 150. Introduced by Senator BJ Cruz, Bill 150 has gained overwhelming support from the medical community, cancer survivors and even the majority of Cruz’s colleagues in the Guam Legislature.
    In fact, Senators Adolpho Palacios and Tina Muna-Barnes are prepared to amend Cruz’s bill to forgo the referendum and increase the tax by an even greater amount than Cruz’s original bill proposes. And now, with eleven of 15 senators in favor of amending the bill, Bill 150 may be law by January 2010.
    i received this from Scam Busters;
    ————————————————-
    One final thing before we get to today’s topic of Cash for
    Clunkers scams: It seems that we goofed in last week’s
    Scambusters issue, where we featured a list of urban legends
    published by The Independent newspaper in London that included
    a mystery flower said to look like a parrot in flight.
    The newspaper had it down as an urban legend and we reported
    it as such. But we’ve since established that the flower really
    does exist — MANY subscribers let us know. It’s a rare
    variety of the impatiens flower species found mainly in
    Thailand. We apologize for the error.
    ————————————–
    I thought it was worth mentioning because it shows that they are willing to admit when they make a mistake and I think the flower is cool.
  4. Zen Lill Says:
    Hi Mischa, good luck in SF today, can’t wait to hear how that went. I rec’d an email from Harman’s office here in RB and haven’t responded yet…not sure yet what I’d like to say, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something, have to check the date on the ‘call to health care arms’ convo.
    Dear Al, hey bro boy, I think it’s funny that you would ask my permission to use a tribute to your moniker al’a'mode, how very Alfonzo-ian of you : ) hahaha…and yes, please feel free to use Alfonzo-ian and Al’a'mode-esque whenever you please. I read your comments on health care and it is precisely those reasons why I feel I must first come up with a reasonable ZL ‘speech’ to inspire whoever is in attendance at Harman’s health care forum, that is insanity to buy meds at prices that are so inflated that it screams ‘rape.’
    I’ve been busy working and indulging myself in my new love…tennis…oh man, where’s this sport been all my life??? It’s so much more accessible than my need for speed: skiing…though it is so tempting to just say wtf and book a flight to Chile’ and schralp a slope or two or a hundred : )
    On another note, I am strangely attracted to Keith Obermann, ok maybe it’s not so styrange he’s articulate, intelligent and dry-witted, traits I love, as long as I get equal rant time : ) so if he wanted to meet for a chat, I would meet him, but first he has to go off the botox, I like expressive faces : )
    Now, I am feeling the need for a feed so caio for now, Zen Lill
  5. Al Says:
    Michelle Hello,
    I not saying Clinton got the recognition her position demands. That flick was a bit to short for me to come to any concrete conclusions.
    So I’m gonna agree with you on this one.
    They don’t have a secretary of state, and the translator may have been in over his head.
    I thought the secretary of state was the Presidents receptionist or some clerical office worker when I was a youngster.
    Being in a country that gives little respect to woman if any.
    Clinton was there to do a job, to help these woman to regain some respect.
    And improve living conditions by stopping the abuses.
    And I have no idea what I have been talking about for the last two paragraphs.
    I will hit my ownself with the featherduster for that.
    Sorry, I know this is a serious issue and I do hope conditions improve there for the sake of the women and young girls.
    Michelle
    I am going to the same meeting in San Francisco that you are today. I hope to see you there. My daughter and wife are so excited to hear that you will be attending. We are bringing our cameras so that we can sneak a few pictures of you.
    We are big fans of your blog. My daughter introduced her mother and me to it back in February. I am an old Trekkie fan from way back. I envy Howie and Al being selected to venture into the unknown of space.
    I feel that I have done everything I want to on this earth except help others who have not been as fortunate as I have financially. I have made more that 200 million dollars in my 47 years of living. I did it on my own. The only assets my parents gave me was my white skin and a desire to work hard at whatever I tried.
    I loved them for their dedication to helping others and for raising me to respect everyone’s right to be different. They have helped me instill the same values into my beloved daughter. She told me that she wanted me to leave a considerable portion of my accumulated wealth to charity.
    I will leave everything to her and her mother. I am in excellent health so I do not plan on leaving this life anytime soon. However, if invited, I would leave for space in a flash. I can afford to pay my way and I would leave a sizable endowment to the charity of your choice.
    I am a member of MoveOn.org. For those of you in the bay area and are interested in attending other functions happening politically here is some additional information.
    ———————————————————-
    Dear MoveOn member,
    Your local MoveOn Council is organizing an important event tomorrow in San Francisco—can you be there?
    We’re taking action at events like these because this is a make-or-break moment—right-wing extremists are crashing political events around the country and trying to dominate the public debate over President Obama’s agenda.
    We can’t let that happen in San Francisco. Local MoveOn members are making sure Sen. Barbara Boxer knows that we’re counting on her to support clean energy jobs and save the Clean Air Act. Congress must move quickly to stand up to coal lobbyists and fix the energy bill—so it creates the clean energy jobs we desperately need.
    The event is on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at 6:30 PM in San Francisco. Click here for more details and to RSVP:
    Yes, I’ll be there on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
    Sorry, I can’t make it.
    Location: Golden Gate Ave. & Van Ness
    Here’s the description provided by the event host:
    We will be rallying and supporting Senator Boxer to strengthen the Clean Energy Act. Our progressive presence is vital to Senator Boxer during the August Congressional recess! We want Senator Boxer to know that she has constituent support behind her to strengthen the Clean Energy Act.
    We will be meeting in front of Books Inc. at 6:30pm. Please look for the pro alternative energy signs!
    Sen. Boxer needs to hear from her local constituents. Right-wingers are doing everything they can to hijack the debate—they’re even using fraudulent tactics, like bringing people who don’t live in the district to town halls.1 That’s why we’re organizing “Real Voices for Change”—an ambitious campaign to show that the overwhelming majority of Americans continue to support Obama’s plans for change.
    We have numbers on our side, but Sen. Boxer won’t know it unless we all show up. Coming to this event is a timely and easy way to make sure thoughtful constituents are heard in the public debate over clean energy. Can you join us on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.?
    Hi Chalipa, I am sorry that I am capable of scaring anyone, especially you. I do not mean to be angry when I respond, but sometimes I am asked things that cross over certain lines of loyalty, and that angers me. Chalipa, I will try to be more gentle.
    I appreciate your telling me.
  9. Zen Lill Says:
    Hey, just watched the Hilary video…even if the asker did not know what the Sec of state does in the US, though if you’re going to be asking high ranking officials anything don’t you think you should make it a point to know (?) and fyi, it was a rude q no matter how you cut that cake (what’s your husband’s opinion?! wtf? Ask him!) and I loved the response (though pretty cheeky in a public forum, to be sure…) – NOT channeling Bill Clinton – hilarious : ) and that’s just my opinion – ZL
    Oh and p.s. – anon/whatever #, I think the term ‘teabagger’ should replace ‘republican’ bc the definition is basically the same, no? ahhahaha…
  10. General Info Says:
    Q: Is it worth putting only one new tire on my car?
    A: Putting only one new tire on your car can negatively affect suspension, transmission, braking and treadwear.
    Why: A tire with a tread and tire design much different than others can cause the car to run in an unbalanced manner, imposing strain on all those components.
    What to do: If you must buy only one new tire for your car, match it with the same manufacturer, size and model as the other tire on the axle. Placing them on the same axle minimizes any imbalance caused by the new tire.
    And placing the tires with the best tread on the rear wheels reduces risk of “oversteering” — having the rear of the car slide sideways during a turn on a slick road.
