I supported Kucinich and his HR676 plan. I appreciated his unwavering commitment towards the single payer, as much as I knew it was a long shot. Hell, health care reform in itself was at one point a long shot, but we stuck in there and did what we needed to do to get it passed. And as I mentioned yesterday, at the expense of women’s health which I am not happy about at all.
But to not have health care reform when so many have died, and are dying because of the lack of insurance is a reason in itself to vote for reform. We have to start somewhere and I am hoping that all of us will continue to fight for women’s health to be made a priority in our health care system.
And…since I’m posting those that opposed the health bill, I thought I would post those that voted ‘aye’ on the Stupak amendment that I wrote about yesterday. I suggest you copy and paste to your desk top too – we need to keep our eyes on this bunch too.
And as Libby suggested, “…learn their names and vote them out in the primaries and select democrats that will support Obama.”….And in my own words, “….select democrats that support women too.”

Larry: I thought it was a hoot too. :)
Lora: I had read about animals and the H1N1 too and was concerned over Lucy our beloved dog getting it. Thanks for the post. Hafa Adai.
Robert: Is this from our used-to-be-a-regular Robert or ? Anyway….Great post about viagra and the side effects. Once again people reach for the ‘quick solution’ when losing some weight, eating better and getting some exercise may be the only thing you need to do to engage again. And it’s not like all of those things aren’t good for your overall health anyway. Hmm….Men are you reading?
Helena: Loved your joke! Tooo funny.
Mike: I did not go – a bit out of my price range, but I hope that they had a successful turnout.
Doug: Thanks. You’re right. This isn’t over.
Anna: You can also blame it on fast food restaurants such as McDonalds coming to town. I am always shocked when I see a country that is healthy living off of their native traditional foods, and then a fast food restaurant enters the scene- the next thing you know there is an obesity problem not to mention other health problems like the ones you talked about. Hafa Adai.
Hi Evelyn: Yeah, I figured when I saw no comments that something was up again. Thanks for your post. I am big on probiotics and I highly recommend Dr. David Williams. Health info has posted him before.
Hey Eunice: Thanks for your post. Like Doug and your post mentioned, we still need to finish this fight. If people can donate to both, hopefully they will.
Peace out.
Gratefully your blog host,

I’m sure we would chip in to get you to one of these fund raisers. You’d be a big draw. Our Palin, with brains.
I got this from Moveon.org:
———————————–
Dear MoveOn member,
Huge news: After decades of progressive efforts to fix our broken health care system, on Saturday night the House of Representatives made history by passing health care reform!1
But now comes the real hurdle: the Senate. Winning there is going to take a massive organizing effort—and we’re kicking it off with big rallies across the country this week to celebrate the passage of the House bill and demand the Senate do the same.
We’ve been pushing together for months. But now it’s go time. There’s a rally in San Francisco on Thursday—can you come? Click here for details and to RSVP:
http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=99476&id=
The House bill isn’t flawless. It includes a compromise version of the public option and an ugly anti-choice amendment.2 But it’s a huge step forward: it would expand coverage to 96% of Americans, offer more choice through a national public option, and help end Big Insurance’s stranglehold on our health care system.3
And the only way we’ll get anything like it through the Senate is if we all come out right now and demand it.
Less than a month ago, conservatives and Big Insurance were gloating that health care reform with a public option was dead. But millions of us showed up and spoke out, and we proved them wrong.
This week, we’ll seize the momentum to move the Senate action forward. We’ll thank House members who voted for reform, and call out those who voted against it. Then we’ll turn to the Senate and make sure our senators know the ball’s now in their court and it’s time to get it done.
Can you come to the rally in San Francisco on Thursday? Click the link below to RSVP:
http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=99476&id=
Thanks for all you do.

WHEN OLIVE OIL ANTIOXIDANTS BREAK DOWN
It’s great to save time and money by buying things in bulk — but there are some foods that apparently don’t hold up well over long periods. Two recent studies show that healthy antioxidants in both green tea and olive oil dissipate over time… findings that led me to ask Connie Diekman, M.Ed, RD, director of University Nutrition at Washington University in St. Louis, what consumers need to know in purchasing and storing these particular products.
GREEN TEA
The green tea study, by the US Department of Agriculture’s Western Regional Research Center and Korea’s Uiduk University, measured catechins in green tea leaves, which are the antioxidants credited with helping fight bacteria, viruses, heart disease and certain cancers.
Researchers analyzed eight commercially available green teas after one week, one month, two months, four months and six months of storage in boxes in the dark. The catechins in the tea lost potency over time — averaging 32% after six months.
OLIVE OIL
The olive oil study, conducted at Italy’s University of Foggia on several varieties of Italian extra-virgin olive oil, found that antioxidant-like polyphenols were stable for three months after pressing, but decreased by about 40% after six months of storage in the dark.
BUYING & STORAGE ADVICE
Diekman offers some helpful tips on keeping these and other antioxidant-rich dry goods fresh for maximum nutrition:
• Store both tea and olive oil in airtight, light-blocking containers and keep them in cool locations (less than 68 degrees). Oil can be refrigerated up to a year versus six months in a cool location, but make sure your refrigerator’s temperature is constant. Fluctuations cause oil to change, possibly leading to flavor and antioxidant changes.
• Look for packing or sell-by dates on olive oil containers to get a sense of how long they remain nutritious at home.
• Packaged tea may only have a best-if-used-by date (referring to the tea, not the antioxidant activity), so Diekman suggests marking the purchase date on tea boxes to alert you when it’s time to discard the box. Note: While this research involved green tea, it’s a good idea to do this with all types of tea. Diekman adds that this technique works with spices, too, since they also lose flavor and value over time.
• Smaller containers are better for both. Store loose tea in small air-tight containers. Tea bags and the foil wrappers that some of the premium ones come wrapped in are somewhat protective. For olive oil, even if you use lots, it’s best to transfer it from the larger container into smaller ones, since each time the container is opened, air enters and facilitates breakdown of antioxidants.
• Buy in quantities you’ll finish within six months. Purchasing large quantities only saves you money, concludes Diekman, if the quality is the same in the last bite or drop.

Thanks for posting the names of the 39 representatives on the take. It will certainly help us to remember them when their time comes for reelection;

Saw you at a party over the weekend. I wanted to broach a subject or two that was on your blog. but I didn’t know if you felt that would be appropriate.
My friends and I debate your various topics all the time. Do you mind being approached in public?

Hi Mischa, good info to have – frankly I’d rather not pay for penile dysfunction products, viagra or abortions (massively funding prevention products and research to provide ones with ease of use by males as well as females, and preventatives with less harsh symtoms/side effects also, this lessening the amount of abortions required I’m all about that, abortion has its unique issue – see below) but one is a function of usage and the other is a function of creating or NOT ctreating new life (here is below – therein lies the rub: Christian beliefs have life/conception starts when a man looks you in the eye, yeah and they pay a lot of dough to perpetuate that belief and as mere non-believers or other believers, our opinion/beliefs do not matter, that being said I would not mind my tax bucks funding what seems a personal decision, and is, but often is made due to difficulty getting BC and/or financial hardship to raise a child), female prevention of said pregnancy is a much more important issue, though a male would argue otherwise about his limp dick ‘issue’…
hmm, men, why not use the ‘comment’ this weekend re: healthy techniques to improve that issue, as I’ve been saying to the women, it’s all about the blood flow to the area (any area), figure it out and stop using magic bullets to fix it (your dick) and go get some healthy foods in your body, exercise that tush so she wants your groove thang anymore, and THEN you can yak about the first thing that pops up, tee hee…
Sophie, I appreciate your offer, though I will pass, not only am I quite a hetero female but I definitely prefer my 7 or more attached, warm and engorged : ) and fully engaged as a person with this female, just a preference. I’m sure you are beautiful, I’m not and never have been beautiful or a model, I think I’ve got an interesting, lived in face that some call pretty (and freakin’ Julia Roberts looking), the fact that others dig the whole tall/slim/blond ‘package’ is nice but whatever, looks are great until into the convo 10 minutes, if you haven’t gotten my attention is another way by then, looks don’t cover it…at that point: I’ll gaze from afar and enjoy the scenery, no more talking necessary : ) and thats if I’m in the mood to people watch, good lookin’ or otherwise. Others here might feel differently but that’s my basic dealio re: the attraction factor. Ah, but if you’re attractive (to me) and you can hang in convo with me, now we’re onto something ; )
Ma Qin, I’m grateful for your report, it makes my day to hear a positive result from the ZL program, and a renewed interest in learning English is a nice side benefit to hear about also.
Be back later for the additional exercise, I am still trying to make a concise yet detailed description of the position for the most effective sit-up on this planet! I’m just not sure if it works on aliens ; ) sorry to all the TAO, though something tells me you do not require human exercise anyway.

Since Zen Lill has passed on you. I feel brave enough to make my pitch. I am attending a screen test too. They are housing us at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles from November 11 – 23.
Please say we can meet. I will leave a pass for you to meet me at the Universal Studios cafeteria if you say yes. I am a 5’10 former beauty queen. I won’t mention my state here, but when you meet me, I think you will know. Also I can’t give you anymore information less I identify myself on the blog.
I am using the name Brittany. I can’t believe that I am doing this. But if you are willing to take a chance so can i.

Thanks Michelle for making it easy for us to vote out those 39 traitors. I also think that we should all click on that Newt Gingrich ad on your blog and get on his mailing list so that we will know what the misogynist bigot is up to. I joined.

This was a comment on Huffington Post about an article that proclaimed that blonde blue eyed Debbie Shields is Michelle Obama’s 4th cousin.
—————————–
I am trying to figure out how come the media was not as interested in connecting the Bush’s, Clinton’s or any other first family to their Black ancestors. We are so quick to tie Michelle Obama to her White ancestors, just wonderin!

My reply to that comment was not printed so I am printing it here.

The reason is white people loves being able to say you were a slave to some white family. As if one could find anything redeeming in that information.
I wonder if they would as proudly proclaim “my mother was raped by a member of this family 100 years ago and I am so proud that that family is telling everyone that I am a product of that rape.”
When will white people get a clue that slavery in America involved rape, incest, murder, dismemberment, and degradations and humiliations inflicted by a group of humans against another beyond imagination.
Does the word holocaust mean anything to white america? Just because no one has seen the bodies showing the cruelties inflicted upon Africans by white americans doesn’t give them a pass.
What makes them think that it is okay to say that a member of their family abused a member of someone else’s family? Because that is what it was! Abuse, no different than that suffered by our Jewish brothers and sisters at the hands of the Nazis.
The only difference is white america gets to control what the history of their holocaust against the Africans say. White america doesn’t even call it a holocaust. Yet, have you ever seen a graveyard for dead slaves? The Nazis didn’t bother to bury their victims in graves with human dignity either.
I don’t think Michelle Obama is happy about someone telling her a relative of hers was raped regularly by a relative of theirs to produce her linage. Only white america could find news in that.
So go right on white america and brag about the rapists family that enslaved and raped Michelle Obama’s great, great, grandmother. Was it just rape or was it rape and incest? To be proudly broadcast November 9, 2009.

I also was at an event you attended. I didn’t mention your blog because I didn’t know how you would take it. This is my first time writing in. But I would have liked to talk about some of the things I have read on your blog with you.

Excuse me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anybody ever hear of a plea of “No Contest”!! !!!!!!!!!!
That is available to everyone, and does just what you are decrying neither admits or denies guilt!
Why do you think this should deny this right to those you dislike, or claim to???

The plea wasn’t derived to allow repeat offenders to continue repeating the same crime without notice to others that this is their modus operandi.
The plea is being abused and should be amended as to who can use it as other matters of law have been adjusted to prevent the clever from using them to take advantage of the public.

i thought your readers would like to hear about the Woman, Sgt Munley dropped that crazy Major. She was shot three times by him, but she stood her ground.
——————————————
Sgt. Munley was nearby getting her car tuned-up when the 911 call came in. Without waiting for backup, she was the first law enforcement official to arrive on the scene at Fort Hood.
“She Fired Until He Dropped. The Killing Ended.”
Much has been written about Sgt. Munley’s heroism, but few have described her behavior in the heat of a confrontation with the Fort Hood shooter better than the editorial writers at the Las Vegas Review-Sun.
“Could Sgt. Munley, hit in the wrist and both thighs, really be blamed if she’d ducked for cover? She didn’t. From all reports, she stood her ground under fire, calmly reacquiring her sight picture, putting four rounds right where she wanted, in the advancing murderer’s center of mass. She fired until he dropped. The killing ended.”
