For Women Only
Posted by Michelle Moquin on December 27th, 2009
Good morning! Back on track. Woke up this morning feeling sooo good, physically and mentally. I hope all is better in your world.
So this write is for women only, but hey, it just may be what your girl needs. So guys, if you are reading too, don’t worry, I am not going to write anything that you men can’t handle. Evidently, Doug was thinking of me when he sent me this e-mail the other day.
Doug knows how much I have enjoyed yoga in the past, but I think he sent this e-mail to me partly because I enjoy yoga, and partly because I was experiencing PMS in a way that I never experienced it before a few months ago. I call it my Pain-in-the-ass Monthly Showdown. Although thankfully, I discovered the magic pill(s) – yes I can honestly say I can feel a tremendous difference between 2 months ago and today – like night and day.
I feel I have resolved the rearing of PMS wicked head (Thanks to Nature Made, Sam-e, Jarrow 5HTP, and Gaia Herbs, Rhodiola Rosea! – highly recommended from moi) However, I am grateful for Doug’s e-mail. I do enjoy yoga and any way to ease my PMS is always welcome and worth a peak. Thanks Doug.
Dear Doug,
Happy holidays!
It’s snowing here in Boulder and I’m keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that I can make it out on my flight to visit my family for Christmas!
In the meantime, I have a very special holiday gift for you! It’s an audio edition of my BRAND NEW
Yoga for PMS practice CD:
http://www.thewayofthehappywoman.com/yogaforpms
*There is NO charge for this CD, we just ask that you pay shipping and handling.
So what’s this about?
Well, I’ve been working on this for a long time now and it’s exciting to finally be able to tell you about it!
As many of you know, I have traveled around the world working with women of all ages, nationalities, shapes, and sizes. One of the biggest things that I notice is that women are confused about how to adapt their yoga practice for their menstrual cycles.
On top of that, 80-90% of the world’s women experience PMS each month. That’s a HUGE percentage. Yet It is possible to eradicate, or at the very best significantly ease, your PMS symptoms (think bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and moodiness–oh, and too much chocolate).
Not only that, but adapting your yoga practice during your pre-menstraul days can regulate your cycle and eventually ease menopause!
I talk all about this in depth during the practice CD–which features traditional hatha yoga postures, adapted for the feminine form–to create a simple, effective, and ancient yogic self-care ritual.
… so rather than popping a pill to ease your symptoms do yourself a favor and pop this CD into your CD player instead.
I was originally going to include this practice in my Women’s Yoga Home Practice Kit or my I Love My Body! Home Transformation Kit (more details coming soon!), but I realized that it’s so specific (and needed). So I took it out of these more comprehensive programs and now stands alone as a simple, yet powerful, practice that is available to anyone and everyone.
Enjoy and let me know what you think!
With love and happiness,
Sara

p.s. Oh yeah, I almost forgot! There’s another little (OK, big) surprise for you that you’ll learn all about when you order the CD!

Well Girls: What do you think? I think it may be worth the S&H if you experience the Pain-in-the-ass Monthly Showdown, and/or if you’re into yoga. Or even if you’re not; you may be inspired after you listen to this CD.
As we all know an exercise routine is so important in our lives. Zen Lill and others have posted about the importance of exercise, and we all know many have gotten great results thanks to ZL.
My disclaimer: No I am not getting this product for free nor do I have any affiliation with this company or the supplements that I mentioned, what-so-ever. :)
On a side note, when I was at Canyon Ranch in Arizona, last week, we met with an exercise physiologist who gave us what I think is a very important tidbit of information. She told us that the most important muscle groups to strengthen for people over 40 are the chest, back, and thighs. Everything else that you pump up may look good, but it is only aesthetics, and it will not add to building your muscle mass, which needs to be at a certain level to protect your bones. By keeping these three muscle groups strong, they help support your bones that are most likely to be affected by age – think of how many people you know that fall, break their hip and are incapacitated. She informed us that the life span of one who is dependent on others to walk, dress, shower etc. dramatically decreases, than one who is independent and mobile.
My parents are great examples of this. They are both in their 70′s and my mother goes to the gym religiously 2 days per week, and has for the past 12+ years. Her bones have been tested and they are that of a 20 year old (I hope that I take after her!). My mother fell off of a ladder onto her side. It was painful but she broke nothing.
My father, on the other hand, was biking in Italy and fell on rough terrain and broke his collar bone. He does yoga, which is great, but he has done nothing in terms of strengthening those three muscle groups. I encouraged him to do the exercises that the exercise physiologist showed me.
Oh…and my disclaimer: I am just passing on some information that I thought you would appreciate and find useful. I am not a health expert by any means. Please do your own research and talk to your own doctor and/or physical trainer. See my disclaimer in the right side column. :)
Have a beautiful healthy day!
Gratefully your blog host,
