Why Do Moms Matter?
Posted by Michelle Moquin on May 9th, 2010
If you had only ‘six words’ to describe why moms matter, what would you say?
Women One-2-One started a campaign, “Six Words on Why Moms Matter”, to honor mothers around the globe on Mother’s Day and help raise awareness on the struggles they face each day. From celebrities to politicians to everyday people, more than 8,000 have posted their own personal memoirs on mom to their website.
I thought that was a fun and cool idea, so I decided to add mine. Your ‘six words’ will not only be posted on their website, but you can choose to surprise your mother or any mom that is the inspiration for your ‘six words’ by forwarding your sentiment to her.
Readers: I posted my ’six words’ last night. They were:
“Mother’s love is like no other.”
It will be a pleasure to tell my mother in person because she doesn’t own a computer. :)
And just like Earth Day honoring our mothers can’t be only ONE day a year. We need to honor our mothers every day, if only in a small way. They gave us life – without them, we would not be here.
And not to take away from honoring all Mothers on this Mother’s Day, but this morning I woke up and I wanted to expand and express my gratitude; I wanted to honor Mother Earth too. This came to mind:
“Honor Mother Earth, Mother To All”
Without Mother Earth, we wouldn’t be here either.
But how about you? What ‘six words’ describe why moms matter to you? Blog me. I’d love to read yours. And if you care to share with the world, keep reading.
Share your six words below and visit Women One-2-One’s “Six Words on Why Moms Matter,” to learn more about the campaign and post your six words along with the thousands who’ve submitted their “memoirs.”
Happy Mother’s Day!
Oh...Zen Lill: Have fun with Lilly. And Ruth and Evelyn: I hope that you are able to share a beautiful day together too. :)
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my ‘loyal’(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,
michelle
Aka BABE: We all know what this means by now :)

Michelle
I told my mother to check your site for my comments on mother’s day. I couldn’t and neither could she pull up your site. Today I see that you did do a mother’s day special.
What???????
