Don’t forget to pay your annual service fee…

…or your house may burn down.

Firefighters Watch As Home Burns: Gene Cranick’s House Destroyed In Tennessee Over $75 Fee (VIDEO)

A smoldering rage may be all that remains after Gene Cranick’s home burned to the ground last week in Obion County, Tennessee.

Firefighters are usually the bold “veni, vidi, vici” sort, but those from neighboring South Fulton could only say “veni, vidi.” They came. They watched. That’s it.

Cranick lives outside of the city limits and he admits that he forgot to pay a $75 annual service fee that would have provided him with fire protection. Firefighters wouldn’t lift a finger, much less the hoses that might have saved the house.

The fire reportedly started in some barrels outside. As the flames crept closer to the home, Cranick says he offered to pay whatever it would take. The plea fell on deaf ears. Hours later, the home was gone.

So were three dogs and a cat.

“They coulda’ been saved if they put water on it. But they didn’t do it,” Cranick told MSNBC.

The South Fulton firefighters did show up and managed to save a neighbor’s field. The neighbor had paid the fee. But they would provide no heroics for the Cranicks. A local news report shows them climbing back on their trucks, flames still dancing over what was once the family’s home.

The event was dubbed “pay for spray” by MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. It’s a chilling vision of what could play out in a third world America, where paying taxes isn’t enough to cover basic services. Fire protection, it turns out, is a privilege in some communities. On Monday’s show,Olbermann railed against the larger implications the incident, calling it “a look now into the America envisioned by the tea party … just a preview of what would come in a kind of a la cartegovernment.”

Think Progress was equally incensed:

As ThinkProgress has noted, there are currently two competing visions of governance in the United States. One, the conservative vision, believes in the on-your-own society, and informs a policy agenda that primarily serves the well off and privileged sectors of the country. The other vision, the progressive one, believes in an American Dream that works for all people, regardless of their racial, religious, or economic background.

The conservative vision was on full display last week in Obion County, Tennessee.

Cranick’s wife, Paulette, doesn’t blame the firefighters. “They’re doing what they are told to do. It’s not their fault,” she told WPSD.

South Fulton Mayor David Crocker didn’t exude compassion when interviewed for the same report, comparing the service to an insurance policy. “Anybody that’s not in the city of South Fulton, it’s a service we offer, either they accept it or they don’t.”

A family in Tennessee didn’t accept. They lost their home over a $75 fee.

Readers: You’re probably on it, but I missed this one a a few days ago, and when I heard of it, I was shocked. I don’t even know how to express what is appalling anymore because these days there is so much that is “appalling”, that the word “shocking” has lost much of its impact, not to mention the word “appalling”, and “atrocious”, and “disgusting”…Need I go on?

These days what isn’t shocking is actually what is quite “surprising”. Do you know what I mean or does it sound like I am just talking in circles? My example is the homeowner Paulette Cranick, who doesn’t blame the firefighters. “They’re doing what they are told to do. It’s not their fault,”

Okay. I have a problem with this. I don’t care if they are doing what they’re told, it isn’t right and they know it. How can firefighters just stare at a burning house when it is their job to save it? Not to mention knowing that the family pets were in their dying – what if a person was in there, would they still stand by? Can you imagine?

When are people going to stand up for each other and do the right thing?

Not to mention the tax dollars in this particular area that aren’t going towards covering a fire unless you pay this “extra” fee. And what about Beck? Fuck Beck. It’s not surprising what came out of his mouth.

That’s just my opinion. What’s yours? It’s Friday…start flapping your lips. Blog me.

Josie: That stat is scary and very disappointing.

Chin: You make a very valid and logical point and it is noted.

Democrat women: How about changing this stat that Josie reported and making sure that you go out and vote on November 2nd? Do I really need to ask? Just do it.

Anonymous: That is so funny!

Now I’m out of here. Happy Friday!

Well, of course they should’ve ‘waived the fee’ and put the house fire out, that’s pathetic and lame, and I’ll ask one more time, where’d all the humanity go? They also let horses burn in a barn…who are these people???

Thanks to those who liked the pics…there will be more coming – hmmm, could be a minute more than planned though due to a computer crash, though my iPhone has my ‘private’ camera roll bc that’s just how I roll ; ) when I can synch the two again, I will and I’ll be back in biz.

Liz, Doug has seen both of my eyes, but he said I had a nice ear : ) actually both of them are nice ; ) I included it bc it had artistic composition by my kid but I think ears get overlooked and mine are just another point of – contact let’s say…

Harriet, I fell apart laughing when I read your comment, thanks for that. I do dig my own hair, it’s silky and ahem, if you have never given a man a hard on using your hair, well then, sister, start tonight! Just drag it along all his parts (up the legs and down the arms, along the neck and chest can be very stimulating for some men)…and do a nice slow clock-wise stir thing when you get to his ‘d**k’ (I laughed at that also, why not just say dick or cock?) if he’s not a-stir by then, check his pulse, he might be dead, hahaha…

OK, everyone, have a nice weekend, Luv, Zen Lill

  2. Harriet Says:

    Zen Lill

I took your advice and when I was baby sitting for my brother in-law today. I unzipped his pants and proceeded to drag my hair all over that fat dick.

It didn’t work because he upended me and the next thing I knew he was plunging that big fat dick so deep in my ass it bled. I screamed and he pulled it out ran into the bathroom washed it and returned to shove it up my dry pussy.

That hurt too. So your advice was shit!

The people who claim that people should pay their own way are usually the rich who don’t want to support the tax system that provide services for the rest of us. The stupid republicans that go along with them are usually the inbred peckerwoods who have shit for brains.

How to Choose the Right Athletic Shoes

    Vahan Agbabian
    University of Michigan Health System

When you work out or play a sport, your shoes affect your performance — and your risk for injury. Key: Choose sport-specific footwear.

Examples: Tennis shoes have side support and flexible soles for fast changes in direction… running shoes give maximum shock absorption… walking shoes need low heels that bevel inward so feet roll easily through the stride. Also…

Learn your foot type. Ask a podiatrist or athletic trainer… or visit a shoe store that offers computerized foot-type analysis.

Wide feet: A too-narrow shoe leads to shin splints, so if even wide-size women’s shoes feel tight, try men’s shoes.

High arches: Look for a shoe with a thick, shock-absorbent heel, such as a gel heel or air bladder.

For feet that roll inward: You need a deep heel cup and wide mid-foot base.

For feet that roll outward: Choose a somewhat rigid shoe.

Check a shoe’s flexibility by bending and twisting it. It’s too flexible (and thus can lead to ankle sprains) if it bends at mid-sole instead of the ball… flattens at the heel cup… or wraps like a towel when twisted.

A shoe that’s hard to bend or twist is too rigid (except for cycling) and may cause shin splints.

Know when to purchase a new pair. Wear and tear affect a shoe’s ability to support and protect.

Replace sports shoes after they’ve taken about 500 miles’ worth of steps. If you’re a walker or runner, that’s easy to calculate. Otherwise, replace shoes when treads and heels are visibly worn.

Bottom Line/Women’s Health interviewed Vahan Agbabian, clinical instructor and rehabilitation specialist, MedSport sports medicine program, University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor.

It’s that time of year again. The winner of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize is expected to be announced Friday morning. Recall that this “honor” has been bestowed on such suspicious fellows, including the Palestinian terrorist Yasser Arafat, the climate huckster Al Gore, the disgraced U.N. leader Kofi Annan, the second worst president in modern American history, Jimmy Carter, and the dude who is shaping up to be the worst president in modern American history, Barack Obama.

Thus, in anticipation of tomorrow’s Peace Prize announcement, Human Events has assembled a list of possible candidates whose accomplishments and moral compass follow in the “august” footsteps of past winners.

Dog Abuse Case Throws Guam Animal Cruelty Laws into Spotlight

WRITTEN BY TINA CHAU, GUAM NEWS WATCH ANCHOR
    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 05, 2010

GUAM – It’s possibly one of the worst animal abuse cases on Guam in recent years and the case has thrown the island’s animal cruelty laws into the spotlight.

According to GAIN, or Guam Animals In Need, Macon, a dalmatian, was found mid-August at a Dededo home.
He was starving and in need of medical attention.

Right now, he’s in the care of GAIN and has gained 16 pounds since his rescue.

There are many other cases just like Macon’s that the public may never know about.

GAIN is pushing for legislation that would make more strict Guam’s animal cruelty laws.

“Everyone is in lack of man-power and funding and resources,” said GAIN Board of Directors’ Julie Grady, “we know that.

We would be glad to be an asset to the island and the community so people can call on us to help. We’ve drafted new legislation and we are proposing to senators to enforce more strict penalties in cases like Macon.

GAIN says right now, if a person is convicted of animal cruelty, current law allows for a fine of between $50 at the minimum and a maximum of $500.

GAIN has also sent a petition to the Attorney General’s Office, asking them to prosecute Macon’s previous owner.

The AG’s Office did not have a comment at this time.

One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class.
She came to the part where Chicken Little warns the farmer.
She read, “…and Chicken Little went up to the the farmer and said. “The sky is falling!”
The teacher then asked the class.
And what do you think that farmer said?”
One little girl raised her hand and said. “I think he said, “Holy shit! A talking chicken!”

  10. Cheryl Says:

Mike, I hate to admit it but you are so very correct in your assessment of the American white male. My husband eats up any racial put down of an OTW male the Right puts out. He is an avid reader of Human Events.

He is always reminding me and his two daughters of the dangers of associating with non white men. But his latest sheer enjoyment of proclaiming his belief in this article is pathetic. I finally told my daughters that their father is just plain jealous of non white men.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Is the White House attending meetings with a terrorist organization? The Muslim Brotherhood is a jihad terrorist organization formed in 1928 to implement sharia law and establish Islamic domination worldwide—with a special focus on the United States as the leader of the free world. According to these jihadis, we’re the Big Satan. Israel is only the Little Satan.

The extensive infiltration of America by the Muslim Brotherhood was unmasked in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial, the largest terrorist funding trial in history. But is anyone paying attention? Human Events is on the story.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) boasts “57 state” members, heads of the Islamic countries. The OIC held its “Islam and Muslims in America” conference last week in Chicago where a controversial White House appointee rubbed elbows with Muslim Brotherhood front organizations—including unindicted co-conspirators from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the HLF trial.

If you read one story today, read about this infiltration of America in my story here.

Also, over the weekend, Big Labor and Marxist organizations (is that redundant?) marched on Washington. Check out the outrageous stories and more in our Human Events hotlinks just a short scroll down the page! — Connie Hair

Why would anyone take delight in call their President a corroborator to terrorists? To even consider it shows the willingness to accept on its face anything negative about a black man.
