The Rand Paul Stomp
Posted by Michelle Moquin on October 29th, 2010
A young woman from MoveOn had her head stomped on at a campaign event in Kentucky a few days ago by a Rand Paul supporter. I am sure that you have seen it as it has been all over the news. The Democrats rallied and using the footage, they put together a very powerful ad against Rand Paul. It is not only powerful, but very disturbing.
What kind of man would throw a young woman down to the ground? A Republican. What kind of man would thrust his foot in between her legs, pressing her down with all his weight, and pinning her to the curb? A Republican. What kind of man would viciously stomp on a young woman’s head with his boot, as she lay there helpless? A Republican. And what kind of men would stand there and do nothing about it? Republican men.
Would any woman in her right mind want to support a party that subjects women to such abuse?
Lauren Valle, the young woman, is now suffering a concussion. This is so disturbing to me. Is anyone else feeling sickened by this?
I don’t know about you but I have been feeling a little nervous these past few days. And a little scared. Nervous because the Republicans are too close for comfort in quite a few states. And scared because…well because there are so many radical, scary, extreme Republicans running for office.
I am realizing just how important this election is, because we just can’t let these extremists run our country. It just can’t happen. I go to my mail box and all I find are flyers promoting the midterms. So many. I don’t remember having this much stuff mailed to me before. And my inbox is the same. It feels a little desperate. And how can it not be? – we are in desperate times. This is probably one of the most important midterms we have ever come upon. Is anyone else feeling this way?
I watched Michael Moore on the Rachel Maddow show last night. And he reiterated just how badly we all need to show up at the polls and vote Democratic. Call your friends. Call your family. Make sure they vote on Tuesday. He expressed his HOPE that those who voted Democratic in 2008, and are thinking of voting Republican this time around, will step into the booth and realize that it has only been 2 years since Obama has been our president…and that they will remember the last 8 years, cringe at the thought of a Republican majority, and vote Democratic again. I have the same HOPE. Is anyone else feeling this way?
Five days left.

Zen Lill: Girl…you have been quite challenged these past few weeks. Happy to hear that you are handling it. I am out of here early again, not too early, but I won’t have time to e-you. I’ll try calling you when I am back in my office. Good luck with the burial. :)
AH: So good to hear from you. Thanks for your explanation on anomalies. The effects and repercussions of anomalies are quite interesting to me, for reasons that you mentioned. And thanks too for explaining the process of time travel. Surprisingly, I totally get it. I would love to say more, but honestly I did not expect to see any comments this morning so I indulged in my beauty sleep. Hence, I need to sign off. My best to you, Adam and Bita.
Charlie: I always have HOPE.
Readers: It’s Friday…flap your lips.
PEACE OUT.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. It is rather interesting and saddening of the lack of thought many women in America put to themselves and the needs of women and society. This video is getting played continuously on the web and many TV channels around the county. This gives the image acceptance within the psyche of the subconscious of the people of this country, that this kind of action is ok. The man was not arrested for his assault. This, and the fact that the man who accosted the woman and stomped on her head is asking HER for an apology.
This has become the accepted new consciousness of our warped country to where people are hearing the accoster ask for an apology. Sounds a bit like Goldman Sachs, BP, or Enron. I’d say Bush, or Cheney but they have never apologized for any of his atrocities…
As Anonz has stated herein so many times, if you don’t vote for the change then you deserve what you get. Why don’t women heed his words, as it seems they don’t seem to enter the consciousness for the betterment of their own lives. Why is that?
Michael Moore went on to say that he finds it interesting that Canada also allows gun ownership and nearly everyone owns guns, but there are only a few hundred murders in that country in a year while in the United States we have THOUSANDS of murders a year. This country is a violent, ego centric, greed based, but religulous country that stands by the word of god…right. Funny how the GOP is phrased as the right wing…I’m sure in certain circles the phrase is used as the right hand…and FOX tries to get society to worry about Muslims?
I yearn for the day when people stop seeing with their eyes wide shut!

Very Disturbing…!
…also disturbing, I heard on the radio this morning that my ilk, registered Independents, were leaning towards voting republican, I almost bipped the back bumper of the person on front of me.
Btw, a repug man would probably say this woman wants equality well them she got her head stomped just like a man would – yeah right…now lets talk about the rest of these equal rights then mister RePug.
A male challenged me (in front of a gather of other males) about women in politics being hormonally uh too challenging. I could hardly contain my laughter bc honey if you haven’t seen what two hundred F’ing years of testosterone (ahem, a hormone) charged decision making has done, I for one welcome and take on that PMS/monthly challenge, we couldn’t do much worst if we were collectively supercharged on Midol : ) and yep, I continued laughing my ass off. Needless to say, da boys were left a titch speechless.
I’ll beg again (I’m not proud) please vote FOR women not for men who might help is if they want to…
Off my soapbox for now : ) Luv, Zen Lill
