…I know you’re out there. In fact, I know there are many of you out there.  And…you’re wanted. :) For those of you who have told me that you wanted the opportunity to be a Girlz, if you changed your mind, let me know – that is perfectly fine. Otherwise you will be visited. Good luck!

~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of GirlzMadaline: Zen Lill is asking if Anonz is alive and well. If so, a simple “Yes” will do.
AnnaPeter: I am sorry for your loss. Peter, I can tell from your comment that she was most likely more than just an acquaintance. I can sense your angst. Peace to you and to Jaysine’s family and friends. Hafa Adai.
Helena: I just wanted to say hello and wish you well. You’ve been a regular for some time now, and I just wanted to acknowledge you. :)
Zen Lill: I read about her book “committed” and I have been waiting for it to come out. Now I know it has. Happy you are enjoying it. Maybe you can loan it to me when you are finished. Have fun painting this weekend!
Beverly: They certainly are calling the kettle black, because if I remember clearly, it seems to be more of a Republicans trait to have a  lack of conscience. Many Republicans tend to be the antisocial ones, at least when it comes to socializing with anyone that isn’t their kind.
Readers: We can’t be big “L”, little “a”…you know where I’m heading. Go to the polls and vote in November. Today…if you can, phone bank – there are phone banking events everywhere. Do it. Thanks.
Have a great weekend!
Good morning.
Once again…I’m gonna to go a little loco today, and once again, I don’t mean crazy. :) I mean loco as in “local”, as in “California”, my home state.
I watched the debate last night between Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman. Did any of you catch it? I just wanted to wipe that smirk off of Whitman’s face.
Today at 1:00 pm is the final face off between Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina for the U.S. Senate race. I missed the last one; this one I’m not going to miss (I HOPE). Here’s a little reminder from the CarlyExposed team:
Dear Friend,
Tomorrow, Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina will face off in the second and possibly the final debate of the California U.S. Senate race.
Hosted by KPCC-FM (Pasadena Public Radio) and moderated by KPCC’s Patt Morrison and Gabriel Lerner, Metro Editor for La Opinion, the debate will air LIVE ON KPCC-FM for one hour, beginning at 1:00PM Pacific Time.
For this debate, KPCC is accepting voters’ questions for the candidates – so if you have a question you’d like Carly to answer, you can call the KPCC message line at 626-583-5250. You’ll need to leave your name, where you’re from, and your contact information so they can verify that you are who you say you are, but many voter questions are sure to make it on the air during the debate.
Of course, the entire CarlyExposed.com team will be listening – and listening closely – during this debate. So even if you are not able to tune in to KPCC-FM tomorrow, we invite you to join us for some live blogging on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00PM PDT at CarlyExposed.com.
We’ll be fact checking and hopefully we’ll provide some insightful commentary about what Carly has to say, and how she performs in this forum.
Consistent with our mission to shine a bright light on the real records of conservative Republicans, we expect to help expose Carly for who she really is — a failed CEO, a diva with little understanding of the day-to-day struggles of average Californians, a job killer, and a tool of her Wall Street corporate pals, like the U.S. Chamber, the Koch Brothers and her significant donors from the Oil & Gas industry – the same folks who are funding the campaign to Pass Proposition 23 and kill off California’s progress on global warming.
We’ll be watching closely to see if Carly tries to amplify the anti-Boxer message in her current TV advertising – attacking Barbara’s performance in a Senate hearing in order to deflect attention from Carly’s own record of failure. If she does, as the debate goes on, remember these important facts:
- Carly was a failure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard. She was fired from that job, where she killed 30,000 jobs, shipped thousands of American jobs overseas, and drove down the company’s stock price. For more info, watch our video “Carly the Job Killer.”
- Carly is being helped in her campaign by some of the most extreme and shadowy elements of the political right. Karl Rove’s “American Crossroads GPS,” dumped $1 million in CA on a TV ad attacking Boxer. The U.S. Chamber, The Club for Growth and lots of Carly’s other corporate pals are planning pro-Carly ad campaigns as well. The anti-gay National Organization for Marriage is funding a $1 million program to boost Fiorina among Latino voters, with a statewide bus tour on the road right now.
- The real Carly Fiorina is a right-wing extremist. Carly mocks Boxer’s leadership on climate change as being “worried about the weather.” She’s a darling of the Tea Party movement and says she agrees with them. And, she recently said, “I agree with them.” She also agrees with her close pals Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum. A few weeks ago, the infamous Koch brothers helped sponsor a fundraiser for Fiorina – and these guys have dumped millions into the Tea Party nationally and of extremist causes and candidates from coast to coast.
Armed with the facts, we will all be much better judges of tomorrow’s proceedings. Then, together, we can shine the light of truth on Carly Fiorina.
Thank you for your help and support.
Sincerely,
The CarlyExposed Team
Readers: No more words from me today, I am sorry to say. I have another early meeting. All good, but I miss engaging in the banter with all of you. So…carry on without me. :( I trust you’ll all have plenty to say about whatever, as you usually do. :)
Peace out…..
Flap Your Lips Friday
Good morning.
I’m going to go a little loco today, and I don’t mean crazy. I mean loco as in “local”, as in “California”, my home state. I mentioned Barbara Boxer yesterday and her run in the Senate race against Carly Fiorina, aka: Palin #2, and Palin’s latest BFF. Can you tell I am just not excited about Fiorina to say the least? Boxer is my girl. Always has been. But more on Boxer later. Fiorina needs a little exposing
By the way a little side step towards Palin…I can’t tell you how many times I misspell her name as “Plain”, as in “simple or ordinary in character, not special or remarkable, no pattern; in only one color, bearing no indication as to source…etc”. Huh…no wonder I misspell her name all of the time. It is a reminder to me of who she is.
Anyway back to Fiorina…I found this website Carly Exposed, and did a little reading on Hewlett Packard’s ex girl…eh…ex-CEO. In case you’re not in the know, Fiorina was fired from HP with a severance of 21 million. And now she’s running for California’s Senate against my girl, Boxer.
Here’s some important facts about Fiorina:
  • Carly was a failure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard. She was fired from that job, after she destroyed a corporate culture which once prided itself good relationships between management and employees, killed 30,000 jobs, shipped thousands of American jobs overseas, and drove down the company’s stock price. For more info about Carly’s tenure at H-P, and the thousands of jobs she shipped overseas, watch our video “Carly the Job Killer.”
  • Carly is being helped in her campaign by some of the most extreme and shadowy elements of the political right. Karl Rove’s new conservative group, “American Crossroads GPS,” dumped $1 million on a TV ad attacking Boxer in the Los Angeles area. The U.S. Chamber, The Club for Growth and lots of Carly’s other corporate pals are planning ad campaigns attacking Boxer as well. The anti-gay National Organization for Marriage, via the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, is running a $1 million program to boost Fiorina among Latino voters. And, as we’ve mentioned, her BFF is Sarah Palin.
  • The real Carly Fiorina is a right-wing extremist. During her primary campaign, she mocked Barbara Boxer’s leadership on climate change as being “worried about the weather.” She’s a darling of the Tea Party movement, the same people who put up the billboard in Iowa comparing President Obama to Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin. And, she recently said, “I agree with them.” Last month she was hob-nobbing at an L.A. fundraiser with Andrew Breitbart, the same wingnut who decided to edit down the speech Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod was giving to an NAACP chapter to make it look like Sherrod was a racist.
Last week Boxer and Fiorina went head to head in a debate here in the East Bay. How I missed it, I am clueless.
Ms. Boxer: First, let me apologize that I missed your debate last week. I watched the debate this morning. You’ve got my vote.
Readers: If you live in beautiful California, I hope you are joining me and voting for Boxer. Want to do more to expose Fiorina and help Boxer win this November? Here’s 4 things to get you going:
1. Make a commitment to help the Lantern Project’s CarlyExposed.com team to expose the record of Carly Fiorina. Exposing her record and agenda is our sole mission, but we need your help to get the job done.
2. Consider supporting our efforts exposing Carly Fiorina by donating $50, $25, $10 or whatever you can afford right now. The funds raised by The Lantern Project today will go directly to the work we do tracking Carly Fiorina and will help us offset the cost of producing original video content for distribution in the weeks to come. And your contribution can help us put the truth about Carly on the air through a set of smart, concise television ads in California before Election Day.
3. If you haven’t already done so, watch our video called “Carly the Job Killer.” This hard-charging 2-minute video tells the story of the Carly’s tenure as Hewlett Packard’s CEO, when she laid off 30,000 Americans and shipped their jobs overseas. The story isn’t new, but the way we tell it is.
4. Spread the word. Tell your friends about CarlyExposed.com. Forward the video to everyone on your contacts list. Join our Facebook page, and ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
Live In the Bay Area?  Fiorina is going to be in Mill Valley this morning. Support Boxer and be there.
Fiorina Is Coming to Mill Valley (Meeting)
Carly Fiorina is holding a Town Hall in the heart of Blue Marin and we want to make sure she knows just how Blue we are.
We are gathering outside the Mill Valley Community Center at 11:30 a.m. to show support for Senator Barbara Boxer & No On Prop 23!
Please bring homemade signs, or we will have rally signs available.
We will be joining the Crush Prop 23 folks!
Time Friday, September 10, 2010 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM Host Patti Ravitz, Marin County Democrats Vote 2010. Location:
It’s Friday… Start Flappin…
Robert: Thanks. And good observation.
Marcie: Loved it!
Chrissy: That is really scary. If this happens and people actually fall for this Big Pharma BS, they are in my opinion, lazy when it comes to taking care of their body, their temple.
When nonfat and fat-free products started hitting the stores many years ago, people assumed that meant they could eat as much as they wanted. And now our country has more obesity because of it. People need to be accountable for their actions. Adding statins to fast-food restaurants will be the excuse some people are looking for that will need to allow them to visit there more often, and eat more than needed.  I understand that people are busy and when money is tight they might opt for something easy and fast, but fast food shouldn’t be it, and certainly not with statins on the menu. This is a subject that is relevant to many. Thanks for posting.
Peace out….
WWII’s ‘Last Mission’ Started, Ended On Guam
WWII’s ‘Last Mission’ started, ended on Guam
by Airman 1st Class Anthony Jennings
36th Wing Public Affairs
8/22/2010 – ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam — – Guam’s history is one of bloodshed and celebration, hardship and prosperity. It’s also one of significant events that would later alter the course of history.
Sixty-five years ago, on August 14, 1945, Northwest Field saw the launch of 143 B-29 Superfortress aircraft assigned to the 315th Bombardment Wing for what would become the last combat mission of World War II.
The mission would be the longest continuous mission ever attempted by the Twentieth Air Force, logging more than 17 hours of flight and covering a distance of 3,760 miles to destroy the largest remaining oil reserves in Japan at Akita.
At a time when most servicemembers and Americans were hoping for a swift end to the war, an air raid seemed unavoidable.
“There was little doubt on the part of the 20th Air Force commanders, B-29 bomber crews, or even ordinary Americans that the bombing of the Japanese homeland was an inevitable part of the war,” said Dr. Andreas Fischer, 36th Wing historian. “Few on the Allied side doubted it was necessary.”
The Japanese situation during this period of time was desperate. The major cities were devastated by atomic or conventional attack while the casualties numbered in the millions. Millions more were refugees, the Japanese fleet of naval vessels was lost and merchant shipping could not leave home waters without braving submarine or mine attacks.
Clearly the time to surrender had come. Incredibly, many in the military urged the Showa Emperor Hirohita to fight on, preferring death to capitulation. The idea the Emperor would support surrender was inconceivable to many in both the Japanese Army and Navy.
Twenty minutes after midnight, the bombers from Guam reached their target of processed crude oil from the fields around Akita and released their payload. The after-mission damage assessment on all structures averaged 86 percent with no part of the refinery complex untouched.
During their approach to the target, Japanese radars picked up the 315th BW B-29s as they neared Tokyo and the city went into a blackout. This occurred as a number of militarists attempted to kidnap the Emperor and prevent him from recording a speech announcing Japan’s unconditional surrender. Their plans were foiled and some attribute this to the blackout and utter darkness after the 315th BW aircraft were pinged on the Japanese radar.
Jim Smith, a member of the crew and writer of the post war narrative “The Last Mission,” was a proponent of the theory that the 315th BW’s mission thwarted the Japanese militarists’ plans.
After the blackout in Tokyo, “the B-29s continued north to Akita, but it seems that the blackout happened precisely at the moment when a number of militarists bent on keeping the war going were about to kidnap the emperor and put a stop to the effort of recording a surrender speech,” Smith said. “With flashlights and candles, soldiers searched all night for the recordings, but were unsuccessful, and the speech aired on Aug. 15, 1945 as planned.”
Whether or not the theory is accurate will surely be debated for years. However, it is undeniable the 315th BW crew members from Northwest Field played a vital part in the Second World War.
“The crews of the 315th BW were on their way back to Guam when the bulletin [announcing Japan's surrender] was repeated over and over,” said Fischer. “They yelled, for they knew that they would not have to test their luck over Japan again.”
Make Every Day A Day of Thanks
Posted by Michelle Moquin on 26th November 2009
Good morning.
Today is Thanksgiving in America. (Yesterday in Guam – Anna & Peter: I hope it was delightful!  Hafa Adai. :) Today is the day for expressing what we are thankful for in life…it is a day for giving thanks to all that you feel grateful for. It is also a day for friends and family to get together share expressions of gratitude….and basically pig out….or turkey out...or, as in the case of last night – both!
Yes, we went to our yearly pre-Thanksgiving feast that friends of ours have hosted for the past seven years. It is always a fun time and this year we were all grateful to be sans kids so that everyone could share their best dirty, adult joke.  It was a hoot, the highlight of the party, and a new addition to the yearly tradition.
But funning and food aside, and respectfully not addressing Thanksgiving historically, I enjoy Thanksgiving because it can remind us just how blessed we are even in today’s economic climate. It can remind us that even today, we as Americans need to realize the abundance that we have, and especially in these difficult times for many, what is really important in our lives.
So, why not recognize today, a day of giving thanks, and make the daily practice of being thankful and giving gratitude, habitual? I believe that if you make every day a day of thanks…it can have a dramatic effect on one’s attitude and perception of the world….that we all need to be thankful for all that we have, and all that we are, no matter how different and diverse.
Ruth, Evelyn, Zen Lill: Thank you for your admiration and recognition, and most of all your understanding and support.
Geraldine: I read only what you posted and did not see the photo. My only comment is the acceptance of the degradation of women in general across the world is sick and yes otw’s experience the worst of it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Gratefully your blog host,
