The Future Well Being Of Our Planet…

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 29th December 2009

I received an e-mail from Organizing For America (OFA) yesterday, asking me to give them feedback by filling out a short survey. Did any of you receive this?

One of the questions they asked was, “What other issues would you like OFA to work on?” ‘Oh…I am so happy you asked.’ This was my answer:

Women’s issues, specifically in Darfur, the Congo, Iraq, Iran, and any other country that supports the plight of women. I feel that we should pull out of doing any business with any country that abuses their women and girls. By buying oil from Iraq, we as a country, are saying that we are okay with the fact that they rape and abuse their females…that we are okay with the fact that they treat their females as second class slaves. I find this unacceptable.

If we truly want to change the world we must change how women are treated in this world. Women and girls suffer daily because we help support countries that abuse them. And the only way to drastically make women’s lives better is to make a drastic change in how we do business with these countries.

We must stand up for these women…we must tell these countries that we will no longer do business with them until they treat their women as equals, and give them the same rights as men. We have to give the men ‘no choice’ but to comply.

The lives of women will not only profoundly change but so will our world. The minds and talent of girls around the world will be able to thrive and grow. It will be amazing what they will be able to offer this world, that they presently can not, because they are nothing more than slaves to men.

I wish for our president and OFA to take the plight of women and girls around the world more seriously and to take drastic steps. If we don’t take this stance, it will be a very long time before women in these countries will be free from their horrific plight.

I encourage you to fill out this survey if you get the opportunity and tell OFA what issue(s) you would like them to work on.

In the mean time, women and girls around the world are still suffering. I receieved the following e-mail. Once again, can we all send a few dollars to help?

Dear Michelle,

All the talk of progress in Sudan masks a horrific truth: Unprecedented levels of rape and sexual violence threaten women and girls on a daily basis.

Next year’s elections could spark more instability and violence, and our contacts inside Darfur and Sudan tell us women and girls may pay the highest price.

Help Save Darfur speak out for the silenced victims of genocide by making a generous tax-deductible donation right now.

Save Darfur works directly with activists like Niemat Ahmadi to monitor events on the ground and get information.

Niemat told me, “The enemies are everywhere, the terror is unrelenting, and the tragedy of these awful years has fallen especially heavily on both the women of Darfur—and, with more horror than my words could possibly convey—the girls.”

In the weeks leading up to Sudan’s first elections in over 24 years, we urgently need your help to speak up for the women and girls of Darfur. Your donation will give Save Darfur the resources we need to:

  • Give activists on the ground a megaphone so that their voices cannot be ignored;
  • Petition, rally, and lobby the U.S. government and the United Nations to increase peacekeeping forces in Darfur, to help protect the millions of women and girls there;
  • Develop and distribute reports and benchmarks for fair elections in Sudan; and
  • Pressure the world to isolate and ultimately arrest indicted war criminal Sudanese President Bashir.

Donate now so that we can be that megaphone the people of Darfur and all of Sudan so desperately need.

https://donate.savedarfur.org/08/electionsnd

Niemat wanted to make sure I told you—your efforts are working. She talks of the indictment of President Bashir, of the global pressure on his regime, and of the increased number of UNAMID peacekeepers in the region.

But then she says, “These are not the greatest measure of your impact. Hope is. That is the gift you are giving to the women and girls of Darfur.”

Don’t let these women and girls down.

Please make a generous contribution to support this movement today.

On behalf of Niemat and the rest of the amazing activists whose outreach your donations are supporting—thank you for standing by Save Darfur at this critical moment in our fight for peace.

My best,

Jerry Fowler
President, Save Darfur Coalition

Readers: Thanks again for all that you do. I’ll end my write with this beautiful quote:

As the Dalai Lama has affirmed:

“The future well being of our planet rests

in the empowered hands and compassionate hearts of its women!”

Hi Zen Lill: Nice to hear from you. Love the ‘self talk’. Yes when you’re in the midst of it, it certainly can feel like someone else has stepped in and taken over. Thankfully I have no physical PMS symptoms – did when I was way younger but not at all now. I am grateful for that.

In regards to the abs, I agree with you. It’s nice having a flat strong stomach – I mean Pilates is all about building the core…and toned arms are great for opening jars, etc :). The exercise physiologist (EP) was speaking strictly in terms of building the ‘percentage of muscle mass’, when looking at your overall body and body fat percentage.

From what I understood, if you have a high percentage of body fat, say 30%, and you want to decrease it and turn it into muscle, increasing your percentage of muscle mass, those three muscle groups are the only ones that will increase the percentage of muscle mass. Your percentage of body fat and muscle mass is determined by this very high tech machine that while laying on it, scans your body calculating and reading your body fat and muscle mass. The ‘ol pinch of the skin body fat reader is way passé, so I was informed. Maybe I wasn’t clear before, so thanks for bringing it up.  But again, do your own research as I know you do. :) Happy New Year if you don’t tune in!

Hi Larry: Have you written in before about you and June? Hmm seems to tweak my memory but maybe I am mistaken. It is a drag when something you want is not available. I knew people were having trouble posting but I didn’t know that  you couldn’t even view my blog. Hmm..Anyway Happy New Year to the both of you too. It makes me smile knowing you read my blog together.

Jon: Thanks for your post. I have only been reading tidbit of this. But I agree with you. After flying last week, I was reminded just how much it isn’t working.

Peter & Anna: Hafa Adai. You need never worry if you are posting too much. I know how much your peeps rely on the info you post. Oh and Anna, on a side note, it does not surprise me that your letters were returned – hopefully I will receive the one without the return address – clever girl – let’s see if it works. I have yet to get to my PO Box to pick up my mail. When I do, I’ll let you know if I received it. Thank you.

Hi Ruth: I really miss it too when I don’t see comments from my readers. Whoever I am upsetting,  - no big deal. I have powerful friends too. :) Thanks for posting your article on meds. Those stats about breaking the hip are scary and match up with what I learned last week from that EP that I mentioned.

So…How are you? I loved hearing that the girls had such a good ‘first’ Christmas. Made me smile when Evelyn mentioned that they were sure ‘Santa was a very nice man.’ Evelyn, you made me laugh over ‘the sampling of the goodies’ – love the relationship you two have.  So…besides hanging out with the girls and feasting on english pudding, what are the plans for New Years?

Mary: Yeah I’m wondering. Can you blog us some info please?

Readers: I know I am posting late today but we were out late last night and I really wanted my beauty sleep, which means sleeping till 9 am. I was pretty prepared with my morning post but then I woke up and saw all of the comments, and I wanted to take a little bit more time today to address all of you since so many of you were able to read and blog.

Lastly, In regards to the health care bill…we all know that it isn’t perfect. But it is a start and many people who don’t have health care will now have it and those that have pre-existing conditions will no longer be denied covered. That in itself is incredible. I believe it is worthy of a thank you letter, don’t you? Do it.

~Thank you

Happy New Year To All Of You!

(just in case my blog becomes invisible again!)

Peace out…

michelle

Color: What’s It To Ya?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 28th December 2009

Being a designer, color has always been a part of the design process. As I have transitioned into a stylist for women and men, I have found a new love interest in color that has me fascinated with color in a different way than ever before. I have begun to pay more attention to the different reactions people have towards color….what people love, hate, and are attracted to compared to what I am drawn to.  A lot of it has to do with preference, but it even goes to a deeper level.

I recently took a class where we examined, very closely, the eye color of several people. When you look at eye color in good light and up close, you will see that most people have two, three and even four different colors in the eyes. It is no surprise for instance, that people tend to match their main eye color to something that they wear to enhance and feature their eyes, but I have learned that people are intuitively drawn toward colors that are actually present not only in their eyes but in their skin too.

Try this out: Have someone look closely into your eyes and describe the colors they see. You’ll not only discover that you have several colors that you may not have know about, but more than likely it will be colors that you like and/or are drawn to wearing.

Here’s an interesting article that I found that takes color to an even deeper level.

USING COLORS TO CHANGE YOUR WORLD

What’s your favorite color? It’s a question we all have very strong opinions about because colors are powerful in many ways — for changing mood, expressing emotions, even influencing action. While somewhat controversial, a whole world of modern color research has evolved to help marketers and others use color in productive ways.

One of the most recent pieces of research is from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, that assessed how a red or blue background color on computer screens affected the work of 600 students. When the background was red, students responded with greater recall and attention to detail. When it was blue, they became more creative. According to color therapist Jill Morton of Colorcom in Honolulu, Hawaii, a possible explanation lies in the different wavelengths of the colors, causing people to perceive red objects as moving toward us and blue ones as moving away. She speculates that one reason for the finding was that students may have focused more on close detail work simply to get relief from the aggressiveness of the red background… but of course, it’s hard to know for sure.

COLOR AND HEALING THERAPIES
While modern scientists continue to debate the whys and wherefores of colors, there’s much that can be learned from ancient healing therapies, where colors have revered and established roles.

In the Ayurvedic tradition, it is believed that there are seven energy centers — the chakras — that run from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with a specific color as well as emotions and parts of the body… and also with a specific element which in turn carries a certain vibrational frequency that correlates to the visible light spectrum. For example, the Muladhara or Root Chakra (red) is governed by the earth element — red has the slowest frequency of the visual light spectrum and earth has the slowest frequency of the elements.

Diantha Harris, color therapist and author of Simply… Color, told me that color can be used to address challenges on the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. The individual chakras can be balanced with color to help particular issues. There are two ways to do this — you can enhance a quality by adding a color… for example, more yellow in your day may bring an increased sense of personal power (represented in the third or solar plexus chakra). You could alternatively use a dose of color to offset a problem. If you are struggling with feelings of envy, you can regain balance by adding its complementary color (red) to your environment. Harris suggests some ways to increase the presence of a chakra color in your life: bringing flowers into your home… adding foods of that color to your diet… wearing it (in socks or underclothes if it isn’t one you like)… or using sheets, towels or blankets of the color.

THE CHAKRAS
Briefly, chakras, their colors and associations are as follows:

• The Root Red Chakra — at the base of the spine, associated organs include spine, adrenal glands and others. Red therapy replenishes courage and energy. A red challenge includes anger, frustration and issues with survival including money. Complementary color: green.

• The Sacral Orange Chaka — in the lower abdomen, its organs include reproductive ones and lower intestines. Orange benefits community, connection, creativity and sexuality… it helps to create and support healthy relationships and boundaries, as well as healing shock or trauma. Negative challenges include addiction and moodiness. Complementary color: blue.

• The Solar Plexus Yellow Chakra — near the navel and under the ribcage, its organs are the pancreas and liver. Yellow is for clarity, focus, will or personal power and to help assimilate knowledge and experiences. Negative challenges include an ego that is out of balance and feelings of timidity. Complementary color: purple.

• The Heart Green Chakra — in the center of the chest, its organs are the heart, lungs and thymus gland. Green supports feelings of safety, love and expansion. Negative challenges are envy, bitterness and the need to refocus and regain energy. Complementary color: red.

• The Throat Blue Chakra — in the base of the throat, its associated organs are the thyroid, throat, mouth and neck. This is the color of communication and truth, trust, faith and peace. Negative challenges include isolation, loneliness and depression. Complementary color: orange.
• The Third Eye (the Brow) Indigo Chakra — at the center of the head, between the eyes (third eye). Associated organs are the eyes, brain and pituitary gland. Indigo has to do with higher mind functions of intuition and clairvoyance and it also can be used to enhance meditation. Negative challenges are severe depression or isolation. Complementary color: yellow.

• The Crown Violet Chakra — on the top of the head, associated with the brain and pineal gland. It is the color of healing, as well as spiritual and emotional issues and offers support during times of transition. Negative challenges include loss, grieving and suffering. Complementary color: yellow.

The colors you need at a given time will shift according to events in your life. There are a number of books and Web sites that have information on color and how to incorporate its healing influence. In addition, you can meet with a color therapist to work on using color to improve your life. Sessions generally cost in the $75 to $100 range and you can find a list of holistic healers including those practicing color therapy at The International Wheel of Colour (http://www.wheelofcolour.com/ or http://www.byregion.net/).

Readers: Pretty interesting huh? Did you click through the last two websites? There is some pretty interesting reads if color fascinates you as it does me. What’s your fave color? Mine’s always been green – no surprise it is also the main color of my eyes.

For Women Only

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 27th December 2009

Good morning! Back on track. Woke up this morning feeling sooo good, physically and mentally. I hope all is better in your world.

So this write is for women only, but hey, it just may be what your girl needs. So guys, if you are reading too, don’t worry, I am not going to write anything that you men can’t handle. Evidently, Doug was thinking of me when he sent me this e-mail the other day.

Doug knows how much I have enjoyed yoga in the past, but I think he sent this e-mail to me partly because I enjoy yoga, and partly because I was experiencing PMS in a way that I never experienced it before a few months ago. I call it my Pain-in-the-ass Monthly Showdown. Although thankfully, I discovered the magic pill(s) – yes I can honestly say I can feel a tremendous difference between 2 months ago and today – like night and day.

I feel I have resolved the rearing of PMS wicked head (Thanks to Nature Made, Sam-e, Jarrow 5HTP, and Gaia Herbs, Rhodiola Rosea! – highly recommended from moi) However, I am grateful for Doug’s e-mail. I do enjoy yoga and any way to ease my PMS is always welcome and worth a peak. Thanks Doug.

Dear Doug,

Happy holidays!

It’s snowing here in Boulder and I’m keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that I can make it out on my flight to visit my family for Christmas!

In the meantime, I have a very special holiday gift for you! It’s an audio edition of my BRAND NEW
Yoga for PMS practice CD:

http://www.thewayofthehappywoman.com/yogaforpms

*There is NO charge for this CD, we just ask that you pay shipping and handling.

So what’s this about?

Well, I’ve been working on this for a long time now and it’s exciting to finally be able to tell you about it!

As many of you know, I have traveled around the world working with women of all ages, nationalities, shapes, and sizes. One of the biggest things that I notice is that women are confused about how to adapt their yoga practice for their menstrual cycles.

On top of that, 80-90% of the world’s women experience  PMS each month. That’s a HUGE percentage. Yet It is possible to eradicate, or at the very best significantly ease, your PMS  symptoms (think bloating, breast tenderness, headaches,  and moodiness–oh, and too much chocolate).

Not only that, but adapting your yoga practice during your pre-menstraul days can regulate your cycle and eventually ease menopause!

I talk all about this in depth during the practice CD–which features traditional hatha yoga postures, adapted for the feminine form–to create a simple, effective, and ancient yogic self-care ritual.

… so rather than popping a pill to ease your symptoms do  yourself a favor and pop this CD into your CD player instead.

I was originally going to include this practice in my Women’s Yoga Home Practice Kit or my I Love My Body! Home Transformation Kit (more details coming soon!), but I realized that it’s so specific (and needed). So I took it out of these more comprehensive programs  and now stands alone as a simple, yet powerful, practice that is available to anyone and everyone.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

With love and happiness,

Sara
http://www.TheWayoftheHappyWoman.com

p.s. Oh yeah, I almost forgot! There’s another little (OK, big) surprise  for you that you’ll learn all about when you order the CD!

***********

Well Girls: What do you think? I think it may be worth the S&H if you experience the Pain-in-the-ass Monthly Showdown, and/or if you’re into yoga. Or even if you’re not; you may be inspired after you listen to this CD.

As we all know an exercise routine is so important in our lives. Zen Lill and others have posted about the importance of exercise, and we all know many have gotten great results thanks to ZL.

My disclaimer: No I am not getting this product for free nor do I have any affiliation with this company or the supplements that I mentioned, what-so-ever. :)

On a side note, when I was at Canyon Ranch in Arizona, last week, we met with an exercise physiologist who gave us what I think is a very important tidbit of information. She told us that the most important muscle groups to strengthen for people over 40 are the chest, back, and thighs. Everything else that you pump up may look good, but it is only aesthetics, and it will not add to building your muscle mass, which needs to be at a certain level to protect your bones. By keeping these three muscle groups strong, they help support your bones that are most likely to be affected by age – think of how many people you know that fall, break their hip and are incapacitated.  She informed us that the life span of one who is dependent on others to walk, dress, shower etc. dramatically decreases, than one who is independent and mobile.

My parents are great examples of this. They are both in their 70′s and my mother goes to the gym religiously 2 days per week, and has for the past 12+ years. Her bones have been tested and they are that of a 20 year old (I hope that I take after her!). My mother fell off of a ladder onto her side. It was painful but she broke nothing.

My father, on the other hand, was biking in Italy and fell on rough terrain and broke his collar bone. He does yoga, which is great, but he has done nothing in terms of strengthening those three muscle groups.  I encouraged him to do the exercises that the exercise physiologist showed me.

Oh…and my disclaimer: I am just passing on some information that I thought you would appreciate and find useful. I am not a health expert by any means. Please do your own research and talk to your own doctor and/or physical trainer. See my disclaimer in the right side column. :)

Have a beautiful healthy day!

The Flu Shot: Need Reasons Why Not To Get it?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 23rd December 2009

I know that I’ve written about getting the flu shot before, but I think it is worth writing about again. I just received this from Dr. David Williams, a known trusted source in my book, and I thought it would be helpful to my readers who are still debating on whether or not to get ‘the shot’.

Flu Shots Are Worse Than Useless, But 99% of the Population Doesn’t Know That Yet.

The big pharmaceutical firms that make flu vaccine have to start about January in order to have enough for everyone by the fall flu season. Trouble is, they don’t know what strain of flu to make because it hasn’t showed up yet.

So they take a guess. Literally. And your chances of getting protection are almost nil.

In fact, the vaccine really increases your chances of catching the flu. Keep an eye open, and you’ll see that most of the flu victims of today are those who got inoculated for it. For example, in 2002 a nursing home in Grand Island, Nebraska, got hit bad. The flu swept through there like Sherman through Georgia because 98% of the residents had been vaccinated.

In 1976, our own government created hysteria by estimating that over 2,000,000 people in the US would die from the swine flu unless every man, woman, and child was vaccinated. This triggered a massive vaccination program. As that whole fiasco proved, the vaccination actually caused more damage and deaths than the flu itself. Nearly 500 people who got the shot developed the degenerative nerve disorder, Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Going back further, the 1918–1919 flu pandemic killed 500,000 Americans. A billion people were sickened and over 21 million died worldwide.

Today, you have more troubles: Vaccines now contain generous amounts of mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, antifreeze, carbolic acid, and so on. Put them all together, and you have a killer cocktail! Plus, the vaccine itself is toxic, if you didn’t know.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s proof positive that the preservative in flu vaccines causes unmistakable damage:

Just One Shot With Thimerosal Causes Damage in
Newborn Monkeys

Placebo-controlled test of a vaccine containing mercury (as with swine flu) delays development of neural skills necessary to life in the wild

This is it. I, Dr. David Williams, am blowing the whistle on the flu vaccine. An experiment on primates has now proven that just one needle jab with a vaccine containing the highly controversial preservative thimerosal can cause life-threatening neurological damage.

A careful laboratory study published October 1, 2009 in the respected journal Neurotoxicology has discovered a clear and present danger in a vaccine using mercury (thimerosal) as a preservative, as does 90% of the flu vaccine. Thimerosal is 49.6% mercury by weight.

This is just the beginning. In this bulletin, I quote 30 outstanding medical authorities, all of them disgusted with the flu vaccine!

I’ve inserted my comments in red in the left column, as well as below, in the right column. Fasten your seat belt; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Although the government-sponsored vaccine has never been tested for safety before, Washington authorities brag endlessly that it has. Well, here at last is that test — (but not the one they wanted (a study conducted in their own laboratories, where they could doctor or obscure the results as they wished).

Instead, this study was done mainly by prominent scientists from the University of Pittsburgh, and the results showed huge differences in neural development between vaccinated and non-vaccinated newborn male macaque monkeys. In tests of three crucial survival reflexes (like sucking), the two groups showed differences at the 95%, 98%, and 99% confidence levels. The 95% level (meaning only a 5% chance of coincidence), is the usual standard for proven results, and 98% or 99% is considered a slam dunk.

The US Centers for Disease Control is the government’s ultimate authority on vaccines, and their own analyst Thomas Verstraeten discovered years ago some high risks for infants who had received shots with thimerosal: 5 times worse for sleep disorders and 11.5 times worse for autism. (This damning information was discovered by prying it out through the Freedom of Information Act.)

Age of Autism editor Mark Blaxill now asks, “What happened to the CDC findings that are now forcing us to rediscover the risk of thimerosal-containing birth doses? … The answer is simple. The CDC team simply censored the data.”

The game is over.

I strongly believe H1N1 flu is not a major threat, and there is little evidence that flu vaccines are effective in preventing the flu. Get the full story in my report Do Not Get Shot.

The world’s leading expert on influenza vaccines says, “One does not need to predict the future when the future has already happened somewhere else.”

Dr. Tom Jefferson has authored 10 reviews of research on the influenza vaccine for the Cochrane Collaboration, which is a widely recognized leading international science institution that evaluates clinical research. Jefferson notes that Australia has just completed its wintertime, and only 131 deaths related to the flu occurred this year. Because Australia’s population is 22 million people, this death rate is not significant. One does not need to predict the future when the future has already happened somewhere else.

Former FDA division chief says “vaccines are worthless.”

“There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza. The producers of these vaccines know that they are worthless, but they go on selling them, anyway.”

—Dr. J. Anthony Morris (formerly Chief Vaccine Control Officer at the FDA)

French government says it’s “useless, costly.”

“It is unquestionable that flu vaccination is not only useless but also costly. And it is a ‘surprise’ only to those who obstinately ignore reality or who still harbour illusions because they are poorly or totally uninformed on this vaccination (and other vaccinations).”
—Official French document

If there’s no data on the safety or effects of the H1N1 vaccine, but serious risks like Alzheimer’s, why are people lined up like sheep to the slaughter for a dose? My report, Do Not Get Shot, will tell you how not to become a “sheeple.”

The world’s greatest immunogeneticist says the vaccine can lead to Alzheimer’s

According to Hugh Fudenberg, MD, the world’s leading immunogeneticist and 13th most quoted biologist of our times (nearly 850 papers in peer-reviewed journals), if an individual has had five consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980 (the years studied) his/her chances of getting Alzheimer’s disease is ten times higher than if they had one, two or no shots.

I asked Dr. Fudenberg why this was so and he said it was due to the mercury and aluminum that is in every flu shot (and most childhood shots). The gradual mercury and aluminum buildup in the brain causes cognitive dysfunction. Is that why Alzheimer’s is expected to quadruple?

Notes: Recorded from Dr. Fudenberg’s speech at the NVIC International Vaccine Conference; Arlington, VA: September 1997.

At last! An honest man!

“In the course of a vaccination trial that took place in France on October 1st, 1981, Professor Mercie, former director of the glamorous Pasteur Institute, was asked why the Institute kept producing and selling its anti-flu vaccine despite its recognized worthlessness. Professor Mercie’s candid reply: ‘Because it helps financing the Institute’s research’.”
—(Hans Ruesch, Naked Empress: p81)

Shoot first, think later.

Needle and Flag

Recall the swine flu scare of 1976. In a politically charged atmosphere where Gerald Ford was seeking election to the Presidency, the swine flu suddenly appeared at a military base. Vaccine was produced and millions of Americans were vaccinated. But the vaccine was worse than the disease, causing hundreds of cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome and a few deaths. In a replay of the past, the White House is directly involved in promoting the H1N1 2009 swine flu vaccine. The federal government will use federal funds to pay off schools to administer vaccines, promote vaccination via highway billboards and TV advertisements, and conduct military-style mass inoculations in such rapid fashion that if side effects occur, it will be too late. The masses will have been vaccinated already. Over $9 billion has been allotted by the federal government to develop and deliver an unproven and experimental flu vaccine. Don’t be a guinea pig for the government.

The flu vaccine causes autism.

Health officials want to vaccinate women during pregnancy, subjecting the fetal brain to an intentional biological assault. A recent study showed exposure to flu viruses among women during pregnancy provoke a similar gene expression pattern in the fetus as that seen in autistic children. This is a tacit admission that vaccines, which inject a little bit of influenza into humans, causes autism.

Al: You’re only missing something good and worthwhile if you want to be able to communicate with friends, or other people around the world, like you do on my blog. Each venue has it’s unique platform to basically do the same: communicate and spread the word of one’s ideas, beliefs or anything else one wants to share with the world. Some use these venues to generate business.

The reason why I do FB and twitter is because I can link them to my blog by sharing my ‘words of wisdom’ :) therefore growing my readership and reach, and hopefully inspiring people with my writes. I don’t do it from a place of ego; rather a place of service, although don’t get me wrong, if I didn’t get some type of enjoyment, satisfaction, etc.,out of it, I wouldn’t do it.

As far as reading other blogs…I have to admit I am rarely on other blogs except a select few. I am too busy just trying to keep up with the current news. But there is a blog for almost everything. Most blogs are focused on one subject such as politics, or gardening, or health, etc. Some treat a blog like an on-line diary. I myself, didn’t want to be limited to one subject, nor did I want my blog to be ‘all about me’, therefore I take creative license to blog on whatever I feel I want to blog about. It keeps it exciting and interesting for me, and I think for my readers alike.  Hope that answers your question.

Readers: A good friend of mine has been challenged with health problems for the better part of the last 20 years, and a few months ago she contracted the swine flu from her son. After spending the last 5 days with her in her daily life, accompanying her to all of her appointments with doctors,  and nutritionists, and healers…after being a solid shoulder for her to lean and cry on for support, I am reminded so blatantly that health is simply everything.

I was grateful that I could be here to support her in such a trying time. I am also so grateful that besides the few minor issues that challenge my health, and although they are a pain in my butt, I am basically a very healthy person. And as much as I feel that I am an extremely empathetic person, my experience into the daily life of someone dear to me these past days, has deepened my compassion for those that are challenged and suffer daily. May good health come to you soon.

Got to run and catch my plane now.

With love….

Okay…You Fix The Climate

Posted by Michelle Moquin on 18th December 2009

How about a little fun today?

Think you have all the answers to fixing our climate issues? Think you can do a better job with the budget? Okay, prove it.

Fix the climate. - Play the game.

Details….details….what are the details?

As a participant in this game,  you need to to figure out a way to help save the planet from the effects of climate change up until 2010.  A cute Frog is your partner. You have to help him by choosing the smartest ways to help the planet feel better.

The deal is this: You have 250 billion US dollars available each year to spend to figure this out. You can also save up money to spend on other good stuff. The game lasts for 90 frog years which is about one week of game playing. Based on real scientific results developed by the Copenhagen Consensus Center.

Any players out there? Need more details?  Read on…

Which response to global warming do you think will be the smartest for the planet? Should we spend money on adapting to living in a warmer world? Should we immediately regulate greenhouse gas emissions to minimize the causes of global warming? Should we invest in technological solutions like a large-scale manipulation of the planet’s atmosphere?Different solutions to climate change will achieve different things, and cost varying amounts. Help the frog saving the planet from climate change in the smartest way.

How do you do it?
You have to help him by investing in the smartest solutions to climate change. The game lasts for 90 Frog Years – each one corresponds to one week. The cash balance tells you how much money you can spend on the 8 different solutions to climate change at any given point in time. The balance grows over time. You have 250 billion US dollars available each year. This amount corresponds to real estimates of the potential cost of avoiding damages from climate change. The actual total cost depends on the solutions you choose. If you spend it smartly, you can save money to help the world in other ways: doing ‘Other Good Stuff’.

This timeline tells you what year you are in. The time is accelerated so one Frog Year corresponds to 2 hours; that is 12 frog years per day or 90 frog years per week. So the game will last for 90 frog years or about one week in your human terms. You have to help your frog during this week, by choosing the best ways to make the Earth feel better. If you spend your money wisely, you can save up money to spend on other good stuff.

Four Prizes
This game has four prizes – one for the frog that tops each Hi-score in the end of week 1.

Each prize consists of one iPod with key material from the Copenhagen Consensus Climate Change Projects, and signed copies of the two exciting books ‘Cool It’ by Bjorn Lomborg and ‘Global Crises, Global Solutions’ edited by Bjorn Lomborg.

The winners will be notified by: Jan 5, 2009.

Readers: Think you can do it?  Wanna try? Go ahead, It’s Friday – give it a go.

Roy: Hi – good to hear from you. I am a bit concerned from your blog comment. How are you and is there anything I can do for you?

Anna: I am aware that there are issues getting on…so sorry. Thanks for being persistent! Hafa Adai!

HI Al: How are you?

Got to run…it’s my early morning..peacin’ and blissin’ out….
