Tucker Carlson: The Racist And Hypocritical FOX Speaks

Posted by Michelle Moquin on December 30th, 2010

Good morning!

I was going to blog something else this morning but hey why not post the most controversial topic happening in the airwaves, on the net, and evidently here too:

Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick ‘Should Have Been Executed’ (VIDEO)

Tucker Carlson filled in for Sean Hannity Tuesday night on Fox News and made a shocking claim: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick should be executed.

Carlson led a panel discussion pegged to President Obama’s recent phone call with the Eagles owner, in which he applauded the Eagles for giving Vick a second chance following his time in jail over his dogfighting scandal.

But Carlson is not as forgiving as Obama or the Eagles.

“I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances,” Carlson said. “But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should’ve been executed for that. He wasn’t, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale.”

Readers: I know you have more to say…so say it here.  The forum is open. Blog me your thoughts.

9:34 AM: Hmm..Just caught this on the Maddow Blog and wanted to add it to my post today. Worth the read:

Melissa Harris-Perry would like to add (and does)

On her blog at the Nation, Melissa Harris-Perry expands on her point last night about Michael Vick, racial history and animal rights. She writes, in part:

“Not only have animals been used as weapons against black people, but many African Americans feel that the suffering of animals evokes more empathy and concern among whites than does the suffering of black people. For example, in the days immediately following Hurricane Katrina dozens of people sent me a link to an image of pets being evacuated on an air conditioned bus. This image was a sickening juxtaposition to the conditions faced by tens of thousands of black residents trapped by the storm and it provoked great anger and pain for those who sent it to me.

“I sensed that same outrage in the responses of many black people who heard Tucker Carlson call for Vick’s execution as punishment for his crimes. It was a contrast made more raw by the recent decision to give relatively light sentences to the men responsible for thedeath of Oscar Grant. Despite agreeing that Vick’s acts were horrendous, somehow the Carlson’s moral outrage seemed misplaced. It also seemed profoundly racialized. For example, Carlson did not call for the execution of BP executives despite their culpability in the devastation of Gulf wildlife. He did not denounce the Supreme Court for their decision in US v. Stevens (April 2010) which overturned a portion of the 1999 Act Punishing Depictions of Animal Cruelty. After all with this “crush” decision the Court seems to have validated a marketplace for exactly the kinds of crimes Vick was convicted of committing. For many observers, the decision to demonize Vick seems motivated by something more pernicious than concern for animal welfare. It seems to be about race.

“It is into this murky racial history that President Obama inadvertently waded this week. Whatever the quality (or lack thereof) of his argument about incarceration and its lifelong effects on those who serve time, I suspect President could not be heard over the din of emotion, anxiety, and history around race and animals in this country. Last night I found myself similarly unable to articulate the difficult and complex relationships that can make it so difficult to hear one another across this divide. My goal was not to defend Vick nor to condemn him, but to try to understand our very different national reactions to him.”

Do yourself a favor and read Dr. Harris-Perry’s full post. You’ll feel smarter when you’re done.

Brenda: Oh how true that is. :)

Zenetta: And a Happy New Year to you as well!

Hi Suzanne: I like it and I agree. Here is an excerpt, somewhat in the same vein but of a different perspective, from one of my fave authors:

“Often people attempt to live their lives backwards. They try to have more things or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.”

    Free2Love:

Did you ever ask yourself why “they couldn’t find (it sic) at home?” The answer is in every article that comes from one of their publications. They imprison their women.

The women can’t leave the country without permission from a male or without being escorted by a male. But Arab males get to go where they please.

So you get to experience being treated “much better than I have been treated by English or American men.” You also get to be treated much better than they treat their own Arab women.

Perhaps it is because they cannot beat you at whelm; or restrict your movements or force you to cover yourself from head to toe regardless of the weather or any other circumstance that would make such attire extremely uncomfortable.

Or has any of that occurred to you while you were “giving up what they couldn’t find at home?”

Perhaps a suitable reward for you would be for you to marry one and get to be taken back to their country. Oh, then your comments of how well you are being treated would indeed be interesting.

==========Robert Reich: What will happen to the US economy in 2011? If you’re referring to profits of big corporations and Wall Street, next year is likely to be a good one. But if you’re referring to average American workers, far from good. The two American economies — the Big Money economy and the Average Working Family economy — will continue to diverge. Corporate profits will continue to rise, as will the stock market. But typical wages will go nowhere, joblessness will remain high, the ranks of the long-term unemployed will continue to rise, the housing recovery will remain stalled, and consumer confidence will sag.
    ======================================
We have given the keys back to the party that wrecked the financial car and now I brace for more of the same.

What can Obama do when white america has saddled him with a House full of white male bigots?

    Psychotherapy for Lots Less

    Joseph Rogers
National Mental Health Consumers’ Self-Help Clearinghouse

Rising unemployment rates, falling home values and battered retirement portfolios can take a toll on our mental health as well as our finances.

Difficult economic times exacerbate depression, anxiety and other emotional problems.

Psychotherapy can help us cope with emotional and psychological issues.

The trouble is that the same economic problems that are causing anxiety and depression also are making it difficult for people to afford the rates charged by professional therapists, which often exceed $100 per hour.

Health insurance can help pay therapists’ bills, but not all policies provide extensive coverage for counseling… and employees who lose their jobs in this recession typically lose their health insurance as well.

How to find affordable high-quality counseling…

    SLIDING SCALE FEES

Some therapists reduce their hourly fees for clients who cannot afford to pay the full amount. Call therapists recommended by your doctor or family and friends.

Explain why you are seeking therapy… be upfront about your limited financial resources… and ask if they will charge on a sliding scale.

If a therapist says yes, ask for details about the sliding scale policy to make sure that your bills will be manageable — some sliding scales slide much further down than others. If the therapist doesn’t have a sliding scale, ask if he knows a local therapist who does.

    GROUP THERAPY

Ask local therapists if they offer group therapy appropriate for your needs. Five to 10 patients typically meet with the therapist at one time.

That allows the therapist to charge each patient significantly less. If a therapist does not offer relevant group therapy, ask if he/she can recommend one who does.

    COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AGENCIES

Many regions have community mental health organizations run by either the county or city government or a nonprofit organization.

These agencies often provide low-cost counseling for perhaps $5 to $50 per hour. If your local mental health agencies do not provide low-cost counseling, they might be able to refer you to area counselors who do.

To find resources in your community, check your local Yellow Pages under the heading “Mental Health.”

You also can search for organizations in your area at the Web site of the nonprofit group Mental Health America (www.nmha.org, under “Get Help” select “Finding help,” then “Find local MHA”). Or contact my organization, the National Mental Health Consumers’ Self-Help Clearinghouse (800-553-4539, http://www.mhselfhelp.org).

    EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Your employer might provide free or low-cost access to local therapists through an “employee assistance program.”

These programs sometimes are available even to members of employees’ immediate families. Ask your employer’s benefits coordinator if such a program exists at your company.

Therapy provided through an employee assistance program typically is covered by the employee’s health insurance or paid for by the employer.

At the very least, the employer likely has negotiated a below-market therapy rate. Participation in employee assistance programs normally is confidential, so the employer does not know which employees seek therapy.

    RELIGIOUS LEADERS

Some ministers, priests, rabbis and other community religious leaders have master’s degrees or even doctorates in counseling and extensive counseling experience. Contact your church or other area religious organizations to see if a pastoral counselor is available.

Pastoral counselors typically charge lower rates than other therapists with comparable levels of experience. Some waive their fees entirely for patients with limited financial resources. This varies, however, so ask about fees before arranging an appointment.

If your house of worship does not have a counselor, it might be able to refer you to other local religious organizations that do or to private counselors in the region who charge on a sliding scale.

    LOCAL UNIVERSITIES

Universities that have schools of psychology, counseling or social work sometimes offer inexpensive therapy to members of the public.

The therapy typically is provided by graduate students who need experience to earn counseling degrees or licenses. They probably are new to the field, but their efforts will be overseen by qualified professors.

Contact the school of counseling or social work at any local university and ask if there is a program providing low-cost counseling to the public.

If not, the school might be able to refer you to inexpensive therapists in the region, such as recent graduates.

    HELP HOTLINES AND “WARM” LINES

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255) offers free counseling over the phone, 24 hours a day, for people in severe emotional distress and suicidal crisis.

Some local mental health organizations offer “warm lines,” which are like hotlines, only they provide non-emergency phone counseling.

These call centers typically are staffed by volunteers, not by professional counselors, but they are a useful free option for those who need someone to talk to.

Ask your county’s mental health agency if there are any relevant warm lines in your region… or type “warm line,” the name of your state and the name of your condition (such as “depression” or “addiction”) or symptoms into a search engine such as Google to see what comes up.

    SELF-HELP SUPPORT GROUPS

Support groups let participants meet with others who are facing similar psychological or emotional issues. There usually is no professional therapist present, but the groups are free and can be helpful.

Ask local churches or the social work departments of area hospitals if there are support groups in the region for people coping with your particular issue.

If this is not helpful, use Google to search for a national nonprofit organization that deals with your condition, then contact this organization to see if someone there can point you to support groups in your region.

Example: The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance has a network of more than 1,000 peer-run support groups.

It also offers online support groups. (Call 800-826-3632, or go to http://www.dbsalliance.org, select “Find Support,” then “Find a support group near you.”)

    HELP WITH PSYCHIATRIC DRUG COSTS

Most major pharmaceutical companies have “patient assistance programs” that provide their prescription drugs — including psychiatric drugs — for free or at greatly reduced costs.

Only patients who have no health insurance and very limited financial resources are likely to qualify.

The Web site of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, an organization sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry, can help you determine whether you are eligible (888-477-2669, http://www.pparx.org).

Or contact the pharmaceutical company directly to inquire about its patient assistance programs.

The Web site of the National Alliance on Mental Illness lists the applicable 800 numbers for many commonly prescribed psychiatric drugs. (Call 800-950-6264, or go to http://www.nami.org, select “Medication,” then “Prescription Drug Assistance Program.”)

Personal interviewed Joseph Rogers, founder and executive director of the National Mental Health Consumers’ Self-Help Clearinghouse, Philadelphia, which is funded by a grant from the US Department of Health & Human Services.

He also is chief advocacy officer for the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He served on the Congressional Task Force on the Rights and Empowerment of Americans with Disabilities. http://www.mhselfhelp.org.

“It’s the DOING with money that develops us – it’s not in the having.
And when you have more, you’re enabled to DO more.”
    –Jack Canfield

But obviously that is not what is happening. It is laudable, but the rich are about getting richer at the expense of those less well off than them.

Unfortunately we live in a society that support a political party in bed with the rich. So this country is experiencing a divide between the rich and poor like that back in the days with the French had a king.

We know what happened to that bunch. Maybe that is the revolution that the tea party is talking about. I doubt it though because that bunch of racists are the ones supporting the republican party.

So middle class American will have to rise up on its own and kill off the filthy rich.

I’m game, locked and loaded. Let the beheading begin.

  8. Doug The Main Dude Says:

    Lois,
I appreciate the kind words. We are all but a reflection of one another.

We are all but mirrors of our selves. There is beauty in that statement, and yet, there is much troubling concern in it as well. To know that the beauty we find in others in simply an inner reflection of ourselves gives one pause and hope to go out into the world and make it a better place. However, it also means that there are dark sides of all of our souls when the likes of Kent, Mindy, Anonymous#19, our resident ass George, etc. that show us our dark sides as a specie. It is easy to bring judgement upon others first as it takes away the energy to take a hard look at one’s self in order to become a better person. Most people will immediately go to the reaches of religious dogma that lie in the back of their minds in order to make sense of such a statement of “a better person”. Although, as from the mind of Ayn Rand, there lies an inherent truth to the laws of the Universe. Beyond the dogmatic approach to fear based teachings, or through the rhetoric of words put into mindless blabber that can tie people’s rational thoughts into a mess of ideas, there does lie an inherent truth to the Universe.

Despite this, humans are the only animal on this planet that will kill for no reason. Although, they may try to rationalize a reason, it is for no reason. So, it is to say, that they hate. And they rationalize hate in order to make sense of something in them they do not understand which differs from the known, albeit, perhaps unconscious knowledge of this inherent truth. We all struggle with this unconscious knowledge, however, as this blog presents there are many people who are lazy and lack the inner strength to look deep into one’s self and that find the meaning within this truth. The emotion of hate begets the action of killing. There are animals that do kill each other within their own specie, however, as based upon our human intelligence, there seems to be an inherent rationale for survival that is the reasoning behind the action. There are a slight few exceptions to this rule, just as the Universe is random, seeking order, seeking random. But I digress.

In the human race, we kill each other without cause, without rationale for survival of the specie. We kill other species without reason, cause or concern. We kill our own biosphere without cause or concern. It is all greed and ego based without thought of the “Part of the Machine” mentality that is lost unto the dominant specie of this planet. A very sad situation indeed. One would argue that Bush started the war in Iraq as based on the rationale that he was protecting the United States from weapons of mass destruction. (despite the fact that they didn’t exist and we know it was based on lies) However, to prove a point, the act was not to aid in the survival of a specie but, a class or a self proclaimed part of the specie. In other words, through a deep seeded unconscious view of self that there were millions of other human beings, of the same specie as Bush is (we think), that were killed without cause. Simply collateral damage to a whim. This could go with any action of war throughout history. There is not any other action that create such imbalance to the inherent truth of the Universe.

Brittany – oh dear. I am fully aware of why they can’t find it at home. What I said was, perhaps because they couldn’t find it at home. I do not understand your vitriole that a -suitable reward- for me would be to marry one. You are expressing I need punishment? Maybe you are just jealous that I am free to make my own choices and live my life on my own terms. I would also like to point out the absurdity of your last sentence -get to be taken back to their country. Oh, then your comments of how well you are being treated would indeed be interesting-. You found my comment interesting enough to post something about it. Peace to you. I hope a little sunshine warms your soul today.

Is it possible that we have two or one of the Holy of Holies on our planet?

  11. Keith Says:

The recent Tucker comments are yet another example that establishes that Fox News is the communication arm of the Conservative movement. The history of Fox News engaging in biased and slanted reporting is a matter of public record. A simple Google search will yield a plethora of information in that regard. Tucker’s comments are all about inflaming the attitudes of Fox viewers who then will act on their fears by further tightening their thoughts and tolerance.

Who is it that Fox is trying to reach with such hyperbolic reporting? Well, “The Simpsons” show said it most simply when it stated in a recent show that “Fox is not racist but it is #1 with racists”. Obviously this is an over generalization. The fact of the matter however, is that Fox is not necessarily interested in who its viewers are as opposed to what message it can disseminate to whomever views their broadcasts. They spew a message in search of a hollow mind. They capitalize on the fact that Americans have become increasingly comfortable having their views and attitudes shaped through commercial sound bites and sensualistic news broadcasts. As an organization Fox is closely aligned with the conservative movement which has spent decades defining their ideas, carefully choosing the language with which to present them, and building an infrastructure to communicate them. This is where Fox comes in. Fox frames the debate on major issues within our country by utilizing words and phrases that tap into fears and biases that naturally exist within all of us.

The objective of Tucker, the Conservative movement and Fox is to parley the fears of some Americans and through this fear mongering mobilize them into political action designed at protecting the status quo power structure within this country. It is through these tactics that people vote against their own self interest. For example, the medically uninsured will vote against a universal health care system if they believe that illegal immigrants who are in this country taking American jobs might be able to receive health care also. They will do this not understanding the immigration policy of the United States or how a universal health care system actually works. They will act on their fears and biases even when doing so will be to their own personal disadvantage. In this instance Tucker, Conservatives and Fox fully understand that racism trumps logic and at least as it relates to universal health care what other countries have determined are sound public policy. This effectively creates the environment wherein the uninsured will vote to remain uninsured fully knowing that an untreated illness could lead to their financial ruin. It’s an absolutely Machiavellian strategy!

So in relation to Michael Vick let me first start by stating that his behaviors as it related to owning and operating a dog fighting operation was one of the most irresponsible and reprehensible acts I have ever seen. Nationwide outrage over his behaviors was well earned and deserved. Tucker’s comments regarding Vick however, should not be construed to be about Vick. Tucker’s comments are designed to convince shallow viewers that President Obama is supporting a dog killer because they are both African Americans. This certainly isn’t the Christian thing to do now is it? In addition, Tucker opines that Vick should have been executed for his transgressions in spite of the fact that Tucker clearly understood that the law proscribes no such penalty. Vick received the penalty the law established for his crime. Why would Tucker make such a clearly inflammatory statement on a network whose slogan is “fair and balanced.”

Tucker’s use of the words “Christian”, “executed” and “getting behind” should not be viewed as accidentally. Tucker fundamentally understands that every word is defined relative to a conceptual framework. His use of the word “Christian” is in my humble opinion meant to suggest that if you consider yourself a “Christian” your views should be consistent with the one he has stated. In addition, Tucker attempts to establish himself as the ultimate moral authority or father figure by stating what should be Vick’s discipline and punishment for having fought and killed dogs irrespective of what the law proscribes. Tucker through his message represents Mr. Discipline. He knows what’s right and wrong and as a Christian so should you. The law (read “government”) did not allow Vick to get the appropriate penalty. The fact that Vick is an African American male successfully playing in the position of quarterback (a position until a few years ago the exclusive domain of white males) taps into latent racial biases that Fox knows exists in millions of American households. Tucker’s very persona represents what conservatives are about – anti-Obama and anti-government!

Obama’s comments to the Philadelphia Eagles were not an endorsement of Vick’s behavior. It was simply an acknowledgement to them as an organization for being willing to give Vick a second chance. I believe some where “Christians” believe in forgiveness. I guess not a Fox watching Christian.

Oh, so you know why they can’t find it at home but as a woman a fellow sister that doesn’t matter to you.
F**k what he is doing to other women. Let me spread my legs and get my jollies.

But, oh how horrible that I would wish upon you the treatment this creature who you lay down to please is doing to your fellow sisters in the name of some cult religion.

You would have made a great understanding companion to Ted Bundy. He was in need of something he couldn’t find at home to.

So it is vitriol to wish upon you what you fully accept the creep is doing to other defenseless women. And you concern is my treatment of you.

May I remind you that I am only using words where that creep and his kind are using physical violence against women whose only crime is to be born female in their society.

And like some others who post here, for you, the mere upset that you have to endure because of my vitriol is equivalent to the physical violence suffered by those unfortunate Arab women.

That IS a lot to be jealous of. Speaking of which those nice gentlemen Arabs that venture out to f**k white women despise American women. They feel that any deception used to couple with one is justified because you are the enemy and the devil.

So go ahead and feel privileged to be used by them. That is its own reward.

And I do believe that the thinking women of this blog would be most interested to hear your laments were you foolish enough to marry and return to one of their countries.

But obviously from your “You are expressing I need punishment?” You are fully aware of the dangers of accompanying one back to his own country.

That makes you a consciousness hypocrite. One that spreads her legs for the “misunderstood married man” as easily as you do for the Arab who “couldn’t find it at home.”

I don’t expect you to be able to see the difference. As it is difficult enough for you to understand why your post caused concern for reply.

Brittany – unfortunately, your ignorance shines though. Again, your judgment -go ahead and feel privileged to be used by them-. How do you know that it was not I doing the using? I read that you are angry based on your perception of my writing (perhaps re-reading D’s comment on mirrors might be of some help to you at this time). Or perhaps you find in your own life that you must roll over and be dominated by men. I forgive you for your misplaced anger towards me. But I do take offense to your further comment -One that spreads her legs for the “misunderstood married man” as easily as you do for the Arab who “couldn’t find it at home.” Again, you judge, assuming I sleep with married men. Because I am sexually free, you judge I must be F’g everything? Absurd and short-sighted. (Re-reading M’s blog about judgment and observation might be another good direction for you to take today.) I give thanks I am smart enough to not pass judgment unto others because of what some in their clan may or may not do. I leave myself open to experience, to accept or reject for myself, and I thank the Universe for giving me the wisdom and the power to do so, leaving me Free2Love

Tiffany – I am not one of Michelle’s Girlz (not sure what that means but if I guess and its what I think it is, I haven’t been so lucky!) but I’m a high femme top if that’s the info you are looking for. Keith:

I really liked your explanation for the most part. I differed on a few points. Mostly those areas where you gave great deference to the white man’s feelings. For instance when you said “fears and bias that naturally exist within all of us.”

What you are really talking about is the fears and bias that naturally exist in white america. The rest of us really have no say in the face of their collective voting power. So why not be honest and say it is the whites against the OWTS in America.

I know that an intelligent man like yourself probably figures that it is best not to rile the beast unnecessarily. But I think it is best to call the proverbial spade a spade. White America is so racist that any spark can race them to the polls to vote against their own best interest as long as the stimuli is phrased in racial terms.

Again you digressed to avoid the being honest when you stated “Tucker’s very persona represents what conservatives are about – anti-Obama and anti-government!”

You and I both know that what conservatives are about is white supremacy. They are NOT anti Obama or anti government. That statement implies a legitimate or honest difference of political opinions. What they are about is returning the quarterbacking of the government to a white man.

While we are on the subject of giving difference to whites when they coin descriptive titles to imply honest political differences. Let us deal honestly with the label “Conservative.”

It is a term that whites have used to get away with being racists and bigots without having to apologize for the stink. Since when is it conservative to believe that you are better than another because of the color of your skin?

That tolerance gives the them the privilege to fly that Confederate flag which represents the continuation of slavery. They are just “conservatives.”

My conservatism makes be believe that the Arabs should do what they will with them in any place or building they are in. Blow them the f**k up for all I care. If the OTWS of this country were to say they will no longer fight the battles of this racist race they will come to their senses quickly enough.

Like in Vietnam when the Vietcong started telling the OTWS to not fire at them and they would not fire at the OTWS only the whites. They complied and the war ended because while whites will pontificate about their ideals, they are not willing to die for them.

If America’s OTWS were to say to the Arabs do what you will the the whites we will look the other way. This “we want our country back” will end a hot minute because the gutless wonders will not want to die for a cause.

Otherwise as the girl from Israel said let them kill each other, the world will better for it.

Everything (email’s/texts) ended after that call, self preservation worked on the doc’s part luckily…but being who I am, I had too many q’s to just let it roll, so I’ve done a bit of exhausting investigating to get to the ‘inciting incident’ and it’s someone I know well that started the whole matter, so I feel totally sucker punched at the mo’ though I’m young and I’ll get over it. : ) Done deal…thanks again.

I’ll catch up on the reads and the comments over recent days soon, the Brit/Free free for all caught my eye today.

I’m a femme but I like being on top occasionally. I don’t feel the need to be one or the other in relationships. Maybe because I am Bi.

I love to feel a hard dick inside me on occasion. Sometimes afterward I feel so butch that I can’t wait to take my little pigeon and make her scream with delight.

Other times a good hard dick makes me feel so weak. I feel like I could melt in the arms of a good butch.

Or be forced to lie between the legs of my lover and suck his dick all night. I never really know how a hard satisfying dick will make me feel.

I always know how being with a woman who is a good lover will make me feel. Maybe it’s that need for the occasional mystery that keeps me bi.

Getting the Most From Your Omega-3s

    JoAnn E. Manson, MD, DrPH
    Harvard Medical School

Omega-3 fatty acids are not all created equal. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are found primarily in fish and so are called “marine” omega-3s.

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is found in plant sources — flaxseed, walnuts, canola oil, soybean oil.

Evidence for health benefits is much stronger for EPA and DHA than for ALA.

The marine omega-3s appear to protect against…
Heart attacks, stroke and cardiovascular death — by reducing blood clotting, irregular heart rhythms, triglycerides (a blood fat) and perhaps arterial plaque.

Cognitive decline and depression — by combating inflammation, improving function of nerve cell membranes and boosting brain chemicals that help nerve cells communicate.

Some types of arthritis and bowel disease — by easing inflammation.

Bonus: Omega-3s may reduce menstrual cramps and menopausal hot flashes in some women.

How much do you need? Adults should eat dark oily fish (such as salmon, tuna, herring, sardines, trout or mackerel) at least twice per week.

This provides 400 mg to 500 mg of combined EPA/DHA per day, on average. If you have heart disease, get 1,000 mg of EPA/DHA daily… if you have high triglycerides, your doctor may recommend 2,000 mg to 4,000 mg daily.

It’s hard to eat enough fish to meet the higher dosages, so consider supplements.

Advantage: Whereas fish may be contaminated with mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Consumer Reports found that none of the 16 major fish oil brands tested contained significant amounts of these toxins.

Bonus: Fish oil may alleviate dry eyes and dry skin. Keep in mind…
Many fish oil capsules are only about 30% EPA/DHA — so look for a product with more concentrated EPA/DHA. If you have high triglycerides, ask your doctor about a new prescription fish oil supplement that has 840 mg of EPA/DHA per 1,000-mg capsule.

Fish oil can thin the blood and trigger excessive bleeding in some people — so do not take more than 3,000 mg daily without your doctor’s okay.

Check with your doctor before taking any fish oil if you use medication that affects blood clotting, such as aspirin, warfarin (Coumadin) or clopidogrel (Plavix).

If you prefer not to consume fish products, get 1,000 mg to 2,000 mg of ALA per day from ground flaxseed, flaxseed oil supplements or other sources.

To avoid gastrointestinal upset, start at a low dose and gradually build up… and drink a glass of water with each dose.

Consult your doctor before taking high doses of flaxseed if you have a personal or family history of breast cancer or another hormone-sensitive condition — flaxseed contains substances than may have estrogen-like effects.

Women’s Health interviewed JoAnn E. Manson, MD, DrPH, a professor of medicine and women’s health at Harvard Medical School, and chief of the division of preventive medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, both in Boston.

She is one of the lead investigators for two highly influential studies on women’s health — the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study and the Women’s Health Initiative. Dr. Manson is the author, with Shari Bassuk, ScD, of Hot Flashes, Hormones & Your Health (McGraw-Hill).

    Bonjour Robert:

Yes, we french have a history of killing our oppressors. But I happen to think that our ancestors threw out the baby with the bath water(If I may borrow an american proverb).

I think the King and his family should have been spared, but then I am part of that aristocracy, I could be biased.

It seems that the US is moving quickly from being a oligarchy to a plutocracy. I would guess that is because your Republican party which was once content to exist in the high middle class range while accepting “gifts” from the Rich have decided that it is time for them to fleece the flock directly and get rich themselves.

Now that your Republican party has an “Alamo”(the defeat of the white man for President of the US) as a rallying cry, they seek so many possibilities to use the inherent racism of their fellow whites to get rich and stay maintain political power.

The remember the “Alamo” is bringing whites to the polls in record numbers to vote against their own best interest as Keith alluded to, but you deftly pointed out.

  26. Ochesius Says:

American arrogance springs form the fact that the white race has ruled their OTWs with impunity for so long that they think they can extend that behavior to the rest of the world and we will be forced to accept it. With those equal bigoted British they have managed it for this long.

But their time is coming. I am encouraged by the Roberts of America. If enough of America’s OTWs would stop supporting that money worshiping race, the rest of the civilized world could break the hold they have on it.

I am not ashamed to admit that I hate America and everything it stands for in the greed department. When white americans come to my country and I have to serve them me and my friends do whatever we can to show our hatred of the bastards.

Me, I do my part by pissing in anything I have to serve them. We often get together and laugh about what we have put into their food or how difficult we have made their travel experience.

    Ochesius

  27. Dirk-Jan Says:

Great topic – hatred of white americans

When they come to my country, they complain about the minorities and illegal immigrants(of course they make it clear that they mean the non-white ones) and their black president.

I think they feel that they are bonding with us because we are whites against the world. That shows the ignorance of the american white person.

There is no universal white person. We are people who happen to be white. I have no special attachment to american whites.

I remember the time I put little balls of cat shit into a group of them’s food eating at our restaurant. They were a bigoted bunch. But I concluded that if they were willing to back stab their own country men because they weren’t white, they would have no conscious about hurting me because I wasn’t a white american.

So I pissed in their food and added the cat balls for flavor.

    Come back anytime.

    Dirk-Jan

  28. Mika Says:

Americans, especially white americans, seem to have no idea how much they are despised. The worldwide financial crisis which they caused hasn’t helped their cause any.

The election of President Obama did improve their position for a while. But when we see the resistance he is afforded because he is black, our disdain and disgust with that country grows every more.

White americans come here and disparage their non white country men without the slightest encouragement. It is despicable!

I find it strange they would expect us to believe that all that is wrong with the USA is because of their non white citizens.

I have not attempted to spike their food or anything, but their arrogance is beginning to really tempt me.
