How To Succeed? Get More Sleep
Posted by michellemoquin on January 8th, 2011
Good morning!
Well…when it comes to sleep, the one thing I can truthfully say, is I definitely get a lot of it. It is the one thing that I choose, when I can, to not deprive myself of, because when I do, I pay the price.
Perhaps some of you might think that sleep is a waste of time, when you could be doing so much more. I sometimes feel that way too. And from what I have read, six and a half hours a night is enough time for the body to do what it needs to do, to regenerate the cells, etc. I have tried this and for me, it is not enough. I know my body and I know when I’ve had enough, and when I need more. I also know that when I am too tired, I don’t think and perform as well.
I found this video on TedWomen. It is a talk on sleep by Arianna Huffington, that I wanted to share with you:
In this short talk, Arianna Huffington shares a small idea that can awaken much bigger ones: the power of a good night’s sleep. Instead of bragging about our sleep deficits, she urges us to shut our eyes and see the big picture: We can sleep our way to increased productivity and happiness — and smarter decision-making.
Readers: I didn’t learn anything new necessarily, but I wasn’t disappointed because of that fact. I like Huffington. I read quite a bit of her writes. With respect to this write, I liked her approach: light, humorous, and to the point: “We as a society need more sleep.” Whether you agree with Huffington or not, sometimes to get a simple point across, one doesn’t need to be all serious and deep.
However, from some of the comments that I found posted on Ted.com, some of the men were not digging her talk at all. They’re upset because they didn’t see the value in her talk. Are they upset because they didn’t see the value or hear the message in her talk, or because Huffington is taking a few humorous digs toward men? I’t's obvious that she’s having a little fun at their expense – after all it is a TedWomen talk and her target audience is mostly women.
But I wouldn’t say that she hates men as some have pointed out. I think that’s a bit harsh. To me, there’s a message here that perhaps some men aren’t hearing because their feelings and their egos are getting in the way. I say, get over it and roll with it. What if the message came from a man? Would men react differently then? Hmm…something to think about. So… what are your thoughts? Blog me.
Zen Lill: Girl oh girl…I thought you were pretty much an open book. I am surprised that you have been holding all of this in. Not good. And I am even more surprised that you felt you did not have a good friend that you felt you could confide in that wouldn’t use “your story to tell at a party”. Next time give me a call. All of my close girlfriends, and guy friends, know that they can confide in me and my lips will remain sealed, and that includes not a word to Doug either. It is an agreement that goes without saying, and one that I honor. I HOPE that next time you need a confidante, you will feel that you can talk to me. I am here. :)
On another note, our Sunday night plans have been cancelled, so I am most likely free if you want to call me. It would be fun to share a laugh.
Peace out.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,

Ah Misch, that is exactly what my friend said also (and she’s a therapist, she says I’m her #1 inner circle so of course confidentiality would go without saying, I was honored to hear that info and I found her to be a good ear though off the mark as to how to handle it the ZL way, she thinks I should throw copies of the emails in the mail to fellow doc professionals, I’m not doing that…) and sigh, I know it’s me and me always wanting my privacy and handling things myself, I’m a bit of a man like that : ) I like to come up with my own solutions and not get a lot of input that takes me away from what I think I should do. The ‘being a story’ thing is a side issue though it was on my mind. What’s that saying, no man is an island, well…neither is any woman including me…lesson learned…though I know me best, I tend to keep it in and keep on keepin’ on. If there’s ever a next time, it’ll be a call into you though commander : )
I understand both sides of the Huff comments, she is very light and she says some man slams and it’s not on the scientific side, but her point is a good one nonetheless, I know people who ‘brag’ about how ‘busy’ they are and how little sleep they get bc of that, hmmm, no one is holding a gun to your head to overbook yourself you know and sometimes I’ll say that and somtimes not, depends on how much they appear to be getting out of sticking to their story. some people get the attention they crave that way.
I am stoking to get 6 in a row and I’m on fire when I do, 7 is incredible : )
Have a fun weekend, luv, Zen Lill

There is a new policy being activated by the Right. They plan to assassinate democratic house and senate representatives in states where the republicans have governors.
They have also put hits out on federal judges now that the house is in control of the republicans.
If Obama doesn’t find a pair, this could get interesting.

The High School Reunion Diet
David A. Colbert, MD
New York Dermatology Group
Patients who try Botox often say that they want to look good for an upcoming wedding, high school reunion or other important event.
Botox is very effective at treating some wrinkles, but it doesn’t improve the aged look of skin. Nor can it reverse the aging effects of obesity, including lack of vitality.
The right diet can not only help you lose weight, it also can make you feel and look 10 to 20 years younger…
Eat low-glycemic carbohydrates.
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a measure of how quickly the carbohydrates in foods turn into glucose (sugar) in the blood.
A food on the GI is ranked relative to pure glucose, which is given the ranking 100.
High-GI foods cause a spike in blood sugar and a consequent dip, which causes cravings for more sugar. A consistently high-GI diet not only causes weight gain and risk for insulin resistance and diabetes, it compromises the radiance and suppleness of skin.
A food with a low GI causes a more even rise and fall in blood sugar than a food with a high GI. I advise patients to eat lots of fresh whole foods.
Many green vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli and asparagus, have GI rankings under 20 and are full of the antioxidants that promote beautiful skin.
Slightly higher on the GI but still wholesome are whole-grain products.
Example: Oat bran bread has a 68 GI versus a French baguette with a 136 GI.
To find the GI ratings of foods, go to http://www.GlycemicIndex.com.
Limit refined sugar. The trick to looking years younger just by changing your daily diet is sugar control — know how sugars work in your system and where they lurk in processed foods and avoid them.
The sugars added to many packaged foods trigger a process known as glycosylation, which causes the skin to become stiff and discolored.
Don’t buy any product that lists sugar in the top three ingredients. Be aware that sugar goes by different names, including dextrose, galactose, high-fructose corn syrup and caramel.
Fruits have a lot of fructose (sugar), but if eaten whole, they are full of fiber that slows down the effect sugar has on your blood.
I tell patients to avoid drinking fruit juices, though, and to go for the whole fruit.
Eat antioxidant-rich foods. Much of the skin damage that accompanies aging is caused by free radicals.
Oxygen-based molecules that are produced in higher-than-normal amounts when we’re exposed to sun or environmental toxins (such as cigarette smoke).
Free radicals damage cells and alter genetic material, leading to skin aging, including wrinkling, and skin cancer.
Antioxidants can fight free radicals. Here are a few of the powerful antioxidants that can help repair skin…
Allium — in garlic, onions and scallions.
Anthocyanin — in berries, pomegranates, cherries, blood oranges, black beans and soybeans.
Helpful: Blueberries are particularly good for skin. I recommend one-half cup to one cup a day. If you get tired of blueberries, switch to blackberries.
Beta-carotene — in carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkins and squash.
Lutein — in spinach, kale, broccoli and brussels sprouts.
Lycopene — in tomatoes, watermelon and pink grapefruit.
Quercetin — in broccoli, cranberries, onions and apples.
Eat fish three to four times weekly.
The omega-3 fatty acids in cold-water fish, such as salmon and sardines, can help reduce acne, rosacea and other forms of skin infection and inflammation.
The omega-3s also help reduce joint inflammation — important for maintaining youthful flexibility.
If you don’t like fish, take a supplement of 1,000 mg of omega-3s daily.
Eat plain unsweetened yogurt. It’s high in protein as well as calcium — important for skin collagen as well as healthy muscles and joints.
Yogurt also aids weight loss. One study found that people who ate one serving of yogurt with blueberries daily lost an average of 12 pounds in a year without doing anything else.
Look for Greek yogurt, which is strained longer and therefore is thicker — it delivers the highest amount of protein.
You can add berries, nuts or a touch of honey.
Drink water — at least eight (and preferably more) tall glasses a day. Water literally plumps the skin and makes wrinkles less apparent.

History reflects the fact that the white race remains on top by never respecting the rules. So why not kill off the democrats as they did the American Indian.
First you take what you can get, then you make treaties until you have the strength to break them. Then you kill anyone who gets in your way.

Oh I also wanted to say (in my own defense!) that I was also in a state of shock for 2-3 days, I’ve never had anything this bizarre happen to me before…that’s it. I’m done with it now : ) thank you for your words though, you know I appreciate having you in my life. Right?! : ) ZL

Most of the males in my family are just clapping and congratulating each other on the recent shooting of Representative Gilford and the federal Jugde.
They are “taking their country back.”
This is just too sick for me to stand. I never believed the hate would come to this. I hope the world will know that not all white americans feel the way they do. I don’t!

Wow John that’s harsh but very true of our white race more pointedly our white males.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:12 pm
White americans know they can do whatever evil they choose because other white americans will find a way to condone it.
They have no real consciouses. This is the race that refuses to back health care for those less off than themselves. This is the race that votes to give the rich tax breaks because they see themselves as one day being in that class.
This is the race that votes color over their own self interest.
If I thought they would end up killing each other off, I could feel better about this new round of senseless fervor on their part.

This is the country that claims to know best for mine. They are killing their elected officials to gain a political advantage.
They kill their judges that don’t rule as they would have it.
Their law is but an illusion based on their hypocritical claim to “justice for All.”
Get out of my country or die!

Anonymous, your claim would seem ludicrous except the conspiracies and crimes that have been discovered already leads me to believe that you will be proven correct.
It is not a comforting thought to have.

Monica Lewinsky was walking along a beach when she tripped over a clam. A genie popped out of the clam and said, “You have released me from 1,000 ears of imprisonment, but since you’ve been a bad girl I will grant you only one wish instead of three.”
Monica thought and said, “Well, I’m already rich from my best-selling book. I’ve already had relations with a powerful man. Can you make my love handles disappear?”
“Your wish is granted,” said the gene, and with a nod of his head–poof!–her ears vanished.

Guam, we are being abused again. The mainland has taken away our native fishing grounds because they can.
The result: Our people can not teach safe fishing methods to our heritage. And that has resulted in TWICE as many drownings as before.
========================
The report concludes: “Before the MPAs were established, Guam residents fished primarily in the protected areas of the Western (leeward side) and Southern Coasts.
Non-Chamorro fishermen were predominately recreational users, while Chamorro fishermen were more likely to subsist on the resource. As MPAs were established and enforced, the traditional and popular fishing grounds on the West Coast and Southern tip of the island were restricted.
Non-Chamorro recreational fishermen most likely scaled back their fishing activities since few accessible, safe areas remained open. At the same time, Chamorro subsistence fishermen began fishing more heavily on the East Coast (windward side of the island).
… That increased exposure to more hazardous conditions resulted in higher risk of drowning.”
==================================
That last sentence says it all. We are being forced to accept more hazardous conditions on our own land because invaders say we should.

Six dead people Who was the republican politician who said “if we lose we can always resort to our 2nd Amendment rights.
I guess she got her wish. I used to think that Robert was as hateful as they were. But I have come to believe he is right. This white race may not be human beings.
What has God delivered within our mist?
So now will be target 22 year old white boys with guns? Somehow I don’t think so.

That is why we piss and shit i their food when they come to Greece. They seek to gather us among their race. We are caucasians, not white americans. That is a breed of its own.
We too believe them to be subhuman.

Science has shown that proper sleep duration aids in decision making, happiness, calmness, kindness, openness, healthiness, and many other “ness” es that benefit not only the self, but society. I’m with Arianna, and Michelle. And I like sleep, too! With proper sleep the body tens to look younger, as well. It is easier to get an extra hour of sleep or two, than to make bad business decisions and spend thousands on botox and implants…
While, in my old age, I will be able to sit by a fire in Aspen during the holidays, I won’t have to worry about my face melting off, because I chose a lifestyle to which I slept 7-8 instead of the toxic life of 4.

I am so happy to see what is happening in the US. I hope we arabs stop sending our good boys to die trying to kill the devils.
Rather we should send money for the devils to buy guns and let them kill each other.

First our news screens were full of white men exhorting violence to get their political views accomplished.
Now our news screens are full of white men exhorting calmness.
White men need big guns to compensate for the small size of their penises. They have control of the vote so they get to make it legal for any nut to gain access to unbelievable killing power.
We are not talking about a weapon to defend one’s self. We are talking about weapons that give one person with a single weapon the power to kill dozens with a single magazine.
We, the rest of this country, have to be in fear of these maniacs because the voting power of this country have small dicks.
That’s it in a nut-shell.

The Republican party has opened up a new era of politics. The politics of fear. It is appropriate that it would start in Arizona, a state that espouses violences.
I am not suggesting that this is the first attempted violent act against the democratic party. There were bombs sent to the governors offices in Washington and Maryland.
In states where whites see their control of the vote challenged they are especially vulnerable to racial hatred.
Whites are inherently racist. It only takes a little encouragement to get them to believe they are being threatened by OTWs because they know what they have done to OTWs when they totally controlled the making of the laws protecting their behavior.
Whites should ask themselves what is the difference between Arab terrorist leaders who exhort weak minded individuals to kill for them and white men in America who encourage weak minded whites to kill for them?
Both enact laws that make it easy for their followers to get weapons that have incredible killing power. Both excite racial, political, and religious hatred.
Both then condone the behavior of the people who act out the mood they have created.
It is a fact that most whites are unbalanced when it comes to racial issues. They are but a comment from being rabid racists.
Giving them unmitigated access to a weapon that with one pull of the trigger could kill dozens can only be justified by white logic.
As long as they are killing each other, I’m okay with it. But if one crazy white boy shoots any black political figure, I say we get guns and march down to the nearest republican office we know.
Once they feel the heat of what they have started, they will get the message. The white boy is basically gutless.
When he was american’s affirmative action boy getting preferential treatment directly from government laws and police power he was a terrorist to any OTW in his reach.
We need to show him that he isn’t the only one who can buy and use a lethal killing weapon.
I am a non violent person. But I will not sit by and allow the Sarah Palins of the world to put cross hairs on the backs of my political representatives of color without them feeling a little heat too.

When I turn on the television and see the white world giving closet racists like George Will a forum to condone or pretend that the violence is not from political and racial rhetoric espoused by his party, I see that nothing will change.
None of the white males in my family will accept any responsibility for the mayhem that happened. On the contrary they are saying, “Now we will be listened to.”

When I visited the American Capital it looked like a place fortified against the will of the people. It was protected like any other third world country’s political capital that was afraid of the wrath of the people it governed.
Now you are killing each other over politics as in any third world country. I am enjoying the hell out of it.

January 9th, 2011 at 9:05 am
This is the place something like this would happen. Arizona is the mecca of prejudice and bigotry. The Sarah Palin’s of the Right come here and further excite the insanely prejudiced whites here.
So now will the be profiling young white boys buying big guns? I doubt it.

January 9th, 2011 at 9:22 am
If the victims are white, I hope they all die. Whites here in Arizona are always doing unspeakable violence to us. So I say if they are turning their guns on themselves, I for one will encourage it.
Our local news media run by whites are all too busy denying any connection between the violence pushing political talk and the violence that occurred.
Whites are calling him “troubled.” A euphemism to excuse cruel, political, or racial behavior done by one of theirs.
If the same act had been performed by an OTW, they would be calling for the National Guard and vigilante groups to start profiling the individuals who look like the person.
But when one of theirs commit such heinous deeds, he is simply one “troubled” individual. No profiling needed.
Let them kill each other I say, too. It should be the mantra of all OTWS in the USA. Let the whites arm each other and Let them kill each other.
If they cross the line and direct their violence towards OTWS, then we can respond in kind.

Tell me again how much safer it is to be a politician in the USA than in Mexico.
No, don’t bother telling me, tell the “Blue dog Dem” Gifford. I guess her sucking up to the republicans and they still shot the fool.
So keep making fun of Mexico. At least we have an excuse. We are being besieged by drug dealers fueled by your insatiable drug appetite.
You on the other hand are killing each other because a Black man got elected president of your country.
I wish you more guns, bullets, and better aim.

Is this true? The shooter could not return to college in Arizona unless he got a mental health clearance, but he could buy semiautomatic gun with an extended magazine?
When the politicians are insisting on the right of people to purchase weapons whose only purpose is kill at incredible numbers, what are their supporters thinking?
Are they thinking, yes, I and my neighbor need the right to purchase that kind of killing power?
Actually, yes if you are white. Hence, we get situations like what happened in Arizona.
Not all whites are crazy. I’m white and I think that the present day gun laws are stupid.

Fuck white Americans who buy the bull shit that we are to blame for our country’s problems.
The liberal politicians have ruined our country by pushing socialist policies. I’m not opposed to shooting them to save our country.
And as for that Gifford bitch, she got what she deserved as far as I am concerned. This will put those politicians on the fence to get off the fence and defend this country against the onslaught of wets, muds, nigs, and socialist whites.
We made this country what it is. This is still our country. Why shouldn’t we defend it against it’s destruction.
I am not wringing my hands over what has happened. It is only the beginning as I see it if the liberal politicians don’t get the message.

The news media is so hypocritical. They have been publishing the gun targets the Tea Party has been putting on democratic politicians.
Now they claim ignorance of their behavior. I doubt their will be any soul searching by the media or the Right.
