Lara Logan tells her story
Posted by Michelle Moquin on May 3rd, 2011
Well last night we were watching 60 minutes - Lara Logan who was “raped” in Egypt was telling her story of her brutal sexual assault for the first time. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see it all because of the special broadcast of Bin Laden’s death interrupted many stations.
Here’s the write and the video of the segment is below.
Lara Logan Speaks Out About Assault In Egypt: ‘They Raped Me With Their Hands
CBS correspondent Lara Logan is speaking out for the first time since her brutal sexual assault in Egypt.
Logan was attacked by a mob near Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Feb. 11, the day that President Hosni Mubarak was finally driven from power. At the time, CBS News issued a statement saying that she “suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers.” Her attack reverberated around the world and highlighted the dangers of sexual assault and harassment that women face while reporting.
In interviews with “60 Minutes” and the New York Times which were released on Thursday, Logan described what happened when the mob surrounded her.
“Our camera battery went down, and we had to stop for a moment, and suddenly, Bahar [the Egyptian cameraman] looks at me and says, ‘we’ve got to get out of here,’” she told CBS’ Scott Pelley. “I thought, not only am I going to die here, but it’s going to be just a torturous death that’s going to go on forever and ever and ever.”
Logan told the Times that the attack lasted for 40 minutes and involved 200 to 300 men.
“For an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands,” she said. “My clothes were torn to pieces…what really struck me was how merciless they were. They really enjoyed my pain and suffering. It incited them to more violence.”
She said she wrote the statement disclosing what happened to her in Februrary because it “didn’t leave me to carry the burden alone, like my dirty little secret, something that I had to be ashamed of.”
The full interview with Logan will air on Sunday. She told the Times she does not intend to give any more interviews about the attack.
Click here if you can’t watch it.
Readers: It was very difficult to hold back my tears listening to Logan tell of her experience that dreadful night in Egypt. No matter how endemic harassment of women by men is in Egypt, as well as other places…no matter if men view this brutal behavior as completely “acceptable”, I will never understand, nor will I ever accept.
Men are sickening. This chronicle tells us exactly what men really think of women: Women are only there for their pleasure, or abuse, or whatever they deem at any given time. I am disgusted. There are no words to describe these feelings that I feel from the lack of respect, love, equality…for women.
What happened to Logan happens all of the time to other women. When will it end?

There is more to the story about the attack on Osama bin Laden’s compound. First the timing of the raid had to do with several things.
ONE; the appointment of Petraeus as head of the CIA.
Obama is one of the smartest men to ever hold the office of President. He is one of few men who would recognize the advantage of having a respected, successful, and politically savvy person to head the CIA.
He also recognized that he needed to remove the General who the republicans were using to prevent him from gaining the respect of the American people as skilled war time President.
They republicans continue to point to Patreaus as the one who should get the kudos that should belong to President Obama for the way he is conducting the war and foreign policy.
I said that “should belong to him.” While Petraeus is a very intelligent military officer, he does not have the tactical and political mind of an Obama. Actually Obama has several much more capable Generals who can get the job done much better that Pretreaus can.
They are not hindered by the possibility of losing face for what they are credited for having accomplished on the battle field and they are not particularly loyal to the republican party. They do not project the image to the military that they know more than this “inexperienced” President to the troops.
Obama was smart enough to give the reins to other candidates to test their capabilities in the field of battle. He discovered some gems. His next dilemma was how to find a way to fire Pretraeus without it appearing that he was firing him.
He decided to give him a “promotion.” He moved Panetta from head of the CIA to Secretary of Defense.
Obama has set it up so that Panetta will continue to have his hands in the affairs of the CIA through key appointments he made before the change will take effect. That way Patreaus will appear to be head of the CIA but the actual controls will still be in Panetta’s hands.
TWO: The appointment of Panetta as Secretary of Defense is an absolute necessity because Obama needs a man who understands how to deal politically with the republicans who sit on the Security Council.
THREE: The Security Council is made up of members from the House and Senate. Obama knows that the republicans do not put the security of the USA above their desire to win reelection or to take back the White House.
He also knows that he needs a man in the position who also understands the duplicitous nature of the republican politician. Panetta is that man.
FOUR: Obama also knew that the republicans would not vote to allow the movement of the two men as they needed to have their republican loyalist in the position of the top general of the military. That way they could continue to credit all the military accomplishments made by Obama to Patreaus.
This would allow them to continue to claim in the up coming election that the republican party is the party who can best protect the country from its enemies.
Any successful military accomplishments made during Obama’s tenure could be laid to the appointment of Patreaus by a republican president. Any failures would be laid directly to Obama’s leadership.
Therefore, Obama planned the raid on OBL’s compound to coincide with the appointments of his need to move the two men to their new destination.
He knew that a successful accomplishment of the mission would put the republicans in an uncomfortable position if they attempted to nix it after the successful capture or killing of OBL.
FIVE: The one thing he knew for certain is that he couldn’t trust the republicans on the Security Council to keep secret the raid he was planning on OBL’S compound.
Obama is an excellent student of history he remembers what happened to President Carter when he shared the information that he planned to stage a secret rescue mission to bring back the prisoners in the US Embassy in Iran.
The republicans leaked the raid to the Iranians to prevent Carter from getting the bounce he would need to win the election against Reagan.
Reagan made a deal with the Iranians for weapons not to release the US prisoners until after he was elected. Reagan’s administration was successfully prosecuted for its illegal weapons deal with Iran. Google the Iran- Contra affair.
Ronald Reagan made a deal with his National Security Adviser, John Poindexter and his aide Lt.Colonel Oliver North that if they kept quite about his involvement in the sabotage of President Carter’s attempt to rescue the American hostages in the American Embassy, he would get any convictions they suffered thrown out by one of his federal judges.
They agreed with the deal. On the same day Reagan fired both men while feigning no knowledge about what was going on in his administration by these two men.
He claimed, like Bush would later claim about the knowledge of Weapons of Mass Destruction, that he was duped by trusted aides.
Both men were found guilty by a jury of their peers. But, as Reagan promised, a republican appointed federal judge later through out the convictions of both men on civil procedural grounds with prejudice so that the criminals could not be retried on the same issues.
John Poindexter was the man who held Ronald Reagan’s fate in his hands. A single word from him and Reagan would have gone down as a traitor to his country and a murder of military men on a mission for their country to save other Americans working for their country.
He knew and could prove that Reagan leaked to the Iranians the details about Carter’s rescue mission. He knew that Reagan made a deal to with Iran not to release the American hostages until after the election.
He also knew that Reagan approved the invention of crack cocaine by the CIA and the selling of that crack in the black and latino communities to illegally fund the contra guerrillas in Nicaragua.
The Republican Party often conducts foreign policy for profit. Bush and Cheney did it in Iraq. They use private organizations accountable to no one. These private organizations are motivated only by money. The interest or safety of the American people or the deaths of America’s military mean nothing if it stands in the way of a profit.
So Obama kept the raid from the republicans and the Pakistanis. Now the republicans are left with the tapes of the raid to find something to make Obama look bad with.
Fox and friends will run the tapes over and over to find something to leak that will cause Americans or the world to find fault with Obama.
If that is not successful they will be left with hoping for an attack on out country by retaliatory Al Qaeda, or disrupting any relationship between America and any nation Obama needs to continue having success in destroying Al Qaeda.
Obama knows that he is dealing with men who hold money and power above all else. Patriotism, morality, honor, are but words used by them to motivate the electorate to return them to office.
Watch for the republicans to attempt to put President Obama in a difficult situation with Pakistan.
They will use the fact that Obama is attempting to put a diplomatic face on the fact that the Pakistani military sheltered Osama for money and political reasons.
Obama and the republicans know that he will need the cooperation of Pakistan if he is to put a stop to Al Qaeda’s spring initiative.
The republicans don’t want Obama to have anymore military success especially after removing Patraeus as the top General in the field.
They know that if Obama continues to be successful they will have difficulty claiming only the republican party can protect the country from terrorists and conduct successful campaigns militarily.
The republican party desperately needs to show that Obama lacks the foreign security and the military skill to conduct a war and maintain America’s image as a powerful but fair nation.
The republicans will be out front demanding an investigation into the conduct of Pakistan. They will attempt to move the electorate into believing that this should be done.
They do not think that Obama can stop Al Qaeda without the help of Pakistan. And since they must prevent Obama from having any more success against Al Qaeda before the elections, they will do anything short of arming Al Qaeda itself to prevent that from happening.
They began their attempt at making Obama look weak against foreign leaders by encouraging Trump to make idiotic statements that Obama should dictate to other sovereign nations what they should do. They know that macho talk goes over big with those ignorant about how foreign policy is conducted.
They also know that the sound bite of a leader willing to “deal toughly” goes over big with those ignorant about how nations conduct themselves in the public arena.
The republicans know that most Americans are totally ignorant concerning what America, as one nation of many, can do alone to affect the state of the world.
The republicans know that a leader that comes off like Bush makes white americans feel tough and proud of their country.
Hence, they perpetuate that image as the one needed to gain the respect and leadership America should have among the other nations of the world.
So look for republicans to come out talking tough about dealing with Pakistan.
The news media will give them plenty of air time because it is run by white men who also know that the majority of americans are ignorant about the need of nations to work together to accomplish goals.
They are only concerned that macho rhetoric sells air time. They too are in the business of news for profit. If the truth has to suffer in their quest for it, that is a casualty they are more than willing to accept.

Michelle, as long as the cult islam is respected by other nations of the world it will never end. Muslin men use islam as an excuse to treat women as sexual toys to be used and tossed away when they are finished playing with them.

Anonz they have already started trying to take the credit for the capture of OBL from Obama. I spotted this from a post. It was anonymous of course.
————————–
It was a satisfying achievement in the war against terrorism and in war there will be death, there must be death. But lets not make it about Obama. It is a victory for 3 administrations.
Presently, the press and the promoters are over inflating this event beyond reality! The military team deserves all the credit, and Obama simply signed a piece of paper. If this hype and hoopla continues America will appear to be blood thirsty. The White House needs to tell the press to knock it off!
————————-
Suddenly it’s a 3 administration victory. If the mission had been a failure, what would you wager that it would have be a 1 administration failure?

This was a operation well thought through. Unlike Bush and Cheney who went to war with no plans but to bomb a people into the stone age.
I wonder if the American people can really see the difference between a man who thinks before he acts and a man who acts before he thinks.

Janice, I read that article did you miss this dis of President Obama.

Decision went like this: Obama “I have this thing that is effin golden”! If I get the man I can fool the American people into believing I’m a good leader and continue to bestow ruins to this second rate nation. If I fail we will blame it on poor intelligence and Bush. Obama “Ok lets proceed and maybe we get lucky”.

This did it for me.
———————
Options were limited. The compound was in a residential neighborhood in a sovereign country. If Obama ordered an airstrike and bin Laden was not in the compound, it would be a huge diplomatic problem. Even if Obama was right, obliterating the compound might make it nearly impossible to confirm bin Laden’s death.
Said Brennan: “The president had to evaluate the strength of that information, and then made what I believe was one of the most gutsiest calls of any president in recent memory.”
Obama tapped two dozen members of the Navy’s elite SEAL Team Six to carry out a raid with surgical accuracy.

The stuff of movies and a man with courage to back his convictions with intelligent thought and action.

This victory would never have materialized if it had been up to Hussein all these years. We need to be a little bit more grateful to Bush. Mistakes and all, he loves America and our military. That traitor had strict political motives for going in for the kill. Now we will have to listen to his daily boasts till dictatorship come (full circle in 2012). sigh.

The next spin by the republicans is that the information that led to the discovery of the compound came from water boarding. That is a LIE.
The information was revealed by a man that was water boarded but much later under regular interrogating techniques after water boarding was outlawed.
————————
“Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding,” former officials said. “He identified them many months later under standard interrogation,” they said.

The republicans are determined to undermine Obama and to justify Bush and Cheney’s illegal torture technique of water boarding prisoners.

I was reading the same article I think. This is the one I liked.
————————
One of the main things I don’t like about the left is that they never admit when they are obviously wrong.
There has always been a prevailing thought in the country that being American transcends American politics, but I didn’t believe that. I didn’t believe Slick Willy, and although I was 5 when Carter left office he has stayed visible enough for me to get a bad vibe from him as well. I definitely did not believe in Obama and whether or not he was motivated by responsibility or just knowing it would be extremely popular to bag OBL I don’t care. It needed to be done.
I was wrong about him on this and I’m happy to admit it, so let him crow while we dine on some of the same, it will not save him in 2012 but today the devil has earned his due.
———————
At least he was honest about his hatred of Obama. This shows that nothing Obama does will change the minds of the 1/3 who are bigots and could never stand to see a black man in the White House. This time I am voting democrat.

Of course not, we would be celebrating the brilliance of Bush. But that would be too much to ask for in Obama’s case.

Dangers of Medical Identity Theft
James C. Pyles, Esq.
Powers, Pyles, Sutter and Verville PC
A thief uses your Social Security number or insurance data to get free medical treatment — or to collect insurance money for services that were never performed.
Problem: This can cause incorrect or fictitious information about you to appear in medical databases — leading to incorrect treatment or future refusal of insurance benefits.
Thieves change the address to which claims and statements are sent, so you may not know of their actions for years. In addition, patient privacy laws can make it harder to find out about phony information — and make doctors reluctant to change errors, for fear of liability.
Self-defense: Every year, get a copy of your medical records from all of your health-care providers and a list of benefits paid in your name by your insurer.
Question any charges or payments that you do not recognize — and contact the police if you suspect fraud.

Michelle, did you notice the jubilation of the men. They are only concerned for their needs. They want to be treated as human beings. But they aren’t the least concerned about what happens to us females.
Islamic men use god to justify their abuse of women. I pray that I will live to see that religion destroyed. The majority of women in the middle east hate and despise islam, but we are afraid to say or do anything that would give the men an excuse to abuse or kill us.

Strange cosmic ray hotspots stalk southern skies
16:42 03 May 2011 by Anil Ananthaswamy
Cosmic rays crashing into the Earth over the South Pole appear to be coming from particular locations, rather than being distributed uniformly across the sky. Similar cosmic ray “hotspots” have been seen in the northern skies too, yet we know of no source close enough to produce this pattern.
“We don’t know where they are coming from,” says Stefan Westerhoff of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Westerhoff and colleagues used the IceCube neutrino observatory at the South Pole to create the most comprehensive map to date of the arrival direction of cosmic rays in the southern skies. IceCube detects muons produced by neutrinos striking ice, but it also detects muons created by cosmic rays hitting Earth’s atmosphere. These cosmic ray muons can be used to figure out the direction of the original cosmic ray particle.
Good mystery
Between May 2009 and May 2010, IceCube detected 32 billion cosmic-ray muons, with a median energy of about 20 teraelectronvolts (TeV). These muons revealed, with extremely high statistical significance, a southern sky with some regions of excess cosmic rays (“hotspots”) and others with a deficit of cosmic rays (“cold” spots).
Over the past two years, a similar pattern has been seen over the northern skies by the Milagro observatory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and the Tibet Air Shower array in Yangbajain. “It is interesting that the pattern can be matched between [these experiments], at least qualitatively. They have very different techniques and systematic effects,” says cosmic-ray physicist Paul Sommers at Pennsylvania State University in University Park. “I regard those hotspots as a good mystery.”
It’s a mystery because the hotspots must be produced within about 300 billion kilometres of Earth. Further out, galactic magnetic fields should deflect the particles so much that the hotspots would be smeared out across the sky.
Cosmic funnel
One of the hotspots seen by IceCube points in the direction of the Vela supernova remnant, a possible source of cosmic rays, but it’s almost 1000 light years away. Cosmic rays coming from such large distances should be constantly buffeted and deflected by galactic magnetic fields on route, and should thus have lost all directionality by the time they reach Earth. In other words, such long-distance cosmic rays should appear to come from all parts of the sky. That’s not what has been observed.
Milagro has also seen hotspots that appear to come from implausibly distant sources. As an explanation, Felix Aharonian of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies in Ireland and colleagues have suggested that there could be a “tube” of magnetic field lines extending between the source and our solar system, funnelling the cosmic rays towards us. However, Aharonian admits the theory is highly speculative.
Others have proposed that a local phenomenon called magnetic reconnection – in which solar magnetic field lines cross and rearrange, converting magnetic energy to kinetic energy – could be accelerating local cosmic rays to energies in the TeV range and beaming them towards Earth, creating the observed hotspots. “It implies that we have a Tevatron in the solar system,” says Aharonian, referring to the particle accelerator at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois. “That’s also crazy, but it is at least less crazy than other explanations.”
Westerhoff’s team presented their results at the American Physical Society’s meeting in Anaheim, California, on Saturday.

Once an American spy satellite locks on you it can track your every movement 24/7 for the rest of your life if they want to for pennies a day. The computer bank assigned to you can store all your movements, conversations you make on any device on a single multi-gig chip.
This chip can be viewed by any agent on the ground within minutes of its actual recording. If you have a television plugged in, cell phone, computer or any wifi device with a working battery, the spy computer can quickly run down your passwords and activate those devices to spy on you or to have access to what is stored on them.
Staying indoors without any of these devices does not help once you have been identified outside by one of these special spy satellites. The computer registers your heat signature and can locate it easier than running finger print samples. It is more accurate and faster than running a DNA sample. That is how they knew that Osama was in the house. His “heat signature” was on file.
Osama took counter measures(not telling) to prevent the satellite from recognizing his heat signature. To track an individual in an inclosed area requires different methods, if the prey knows how to avoid being detected. Ordinarily a combination of micro/radio /(secret) wave technology will reveal the prey even when indoors.
It gives new meaning to the phrase “you can run but, you can’t hide.” Actually the nerds like to use “once we light you up, you stay lit.” That was an offshoot from the times when the target used to be hit with a microscopic tracking device that allowed a satellite to locate the targeted individual wherever he/she went.
Law enforcement has been at the federal government to use the devices to (per their claim) target suspected serial killers. But Obama fears that it will be used to target anyone law enforcement wants to track. He also fears the technology will be sold to those who would use it to track American agents and anyone their governments wanted to track.
The republican party is about to launch an all out attack on releasing the technology to law enforcement so they can use it for their on nefarious purposes. Look out world you are about to lose the last of your privacy.

As has often been stated on this blog, islam is a cult started by men who wanted to use women as bartering chips to get men to belong to the cult. The men of islam use the cult to enslave, rape and murder women at will.
Other men look the other way or go along with the cult treating it as a legitimate religion because they wish to trade with the pedophiles. Some do so because they vicariously live through the experience of these men. They secretly wish they could treat their own females in the same fashion.
You decide which group is sicker. Lara Logan experienced first hand what every islamic woman fears every moment of her life. The difference if that happened to an islamic woman the males in her family would have the permission of their religion to kill in a “mercy” killing to save the reputation and face of the male in her family.

It is very saddening and difficult to watch and hear her story. To hear her discuss the scene and when she lost her last hope of her team, only to disappear into the mob. Feeling and knowing that death was near her and it was not going to be easy. Then to put into the perspective of the women,of Egypt in particular as this is where her story took place, deal with on a daily basis, their entire life…and then to be rescued by those same women. The irony. I cannot imagine what that is like. No man can imagine what that kind of fear and emotional prison feels like. No man.

How to Care for Your Toothbrush
Paula Shannon Jones, DDS
You rely on it to promote oral health — but a toothbrush that is not properly maintained may house bacteria and viruses that transmit colds, flu, cold sores and other ailments.
What to do for your toothbrush…
Give it a good home. When several toothbrushes are jumbled together, germs can migrate from brush to brush — so use a holder that keeps toothbrushes upright and separate.
Place the holder at least six feet from the toilet — water particles can travel several feet with each flush. (Better yet, close the toilet lid before flushing.)
Keep it clean. Rinse the toothbrush well with running water after each use.
Swish the bristles once daily in an antiseptic mouthwash that contains alcohol — and once a week, soak the toothbrush in the mouthwash for five minutes. Do not put toothbrushes in the microwave or dishwasher — high heat damages bristles.
Dry it off. Wet bristles are a breeding ground for bacteria. Dry your brush completely between uses, using a clean towel or blow-dryer on low heat or by leaving it exposed to air in a well-ventilated place.
If you store your toothbrush in a medicine cabinet or in a toothbrush case or cover (even one labeled “antibacterial”), first dry it thoroughly.
Replace it regularly. Get a new toothbrush whenever bristles look frayed or splayed — or at least every three months.
If you get sick, replace your toothbrush when you are well again so you don’t reinfect yourself.

Someone commented about now there will be non-believers of OBL’s death. I am not saying OBL is not dead, but I do have a problem disgesting what the US media is telling us about the death “…The US got him in a secret covert operation and they shot him in the eye and threw him in the sea…”
I think war mongering men would not want him to have an easy death. Surely men would keep him around to be tortured at least. And to say they threw him in the sea so no one could find his body, well, it’s all too pat, just too convenient. I admit I am skeptical of what we are being told and what the truth is. I don’t feel a sense of closure with his death.
The quote Ethel here and others on FB posted about his death were too convenient too. The “I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy….” attributed to MLK apparently wasn’t true. That and another one attributed to M Twain, also false.

Thanks Padma for keeping them honest. People often fall in to the trap of believing that if they attribute something they feel strongly about to the thought or action of someone famous it will give their belief greater weight in the minds of others.
Why not just voice your opinion and let the chips fall where the do?

We are in 1871:
Wild (“Duck”) Bill Hickok has gone for his guns again. As Marshal of Abilene, Kansas, he mortally wounded a gambler named Dave Coe: then swung round, guns blazing, when he heard footsteps behind him. The great gunman thus despatched his deputy, Mike Williams, who was rushing to his aid!
Abilene has expelled its trigger-happy policeman!

Doug,TMD, Michelle is so lucky to have a man who is so aware of himself and others. Your comment about Lara Logan showed the sensitivity I wish my man had.
