Wonderful Women Of The World

Posted by Michelle Moquin on May 21st, 2011

Good morning!

This is not exactly a post honoring one specific wonderful woman of the world today. And although the title certainly caught my eye, because yes, I do believe women should rule the world, the write doesn’t exactly back the title by touting great things that women are doing. But that’s okay.

No, although the writer eventually recognizes women, it begins more specifically, by giving us little tidbits of bad boy behavior (so easy to do these days)…backing the point that yes…

Women Should Rule the World

Never send a man to do a man’s work.

That’s my takeaway this week following numerous examples of bad behavior by men. The week began with revelations about Mr. IMF Bailout, Dominique Strauss-Kahn. By the end of the week he needed one himself. ‘nough said. Hours after his fall from grace and the French Presidency, we found out why Maria Shriver moved into a hotel and out of the estate she shared with Arnold Schwartzenegger. Now dubbed the “Sperminator,” Arnold proved that he was neither Democrat nor Republican but just another Kennedy guy.

On top of it all, was the irony that these horror stories were most brilliantly deconstructed by my favorite anchor, CNN’s Eliot Spitzer, who certainly knows what he’s talking about when it comes to male malfeasance. Fortunately, Bill Clinton had the good grace to stay off camera all week, but Newt Gingrich, another notorious womanizer, did not. He had just hit the ground running, his third or fourth missus in tow, in a hapless bid to become the Republican Presidential candidate in 2012.

In a week of unrelenting bad boys, finally there was some good news. Gaddafi’s compound was being pulverized, Mubarak jailed and Syria’s Assad warned. Donald, the Comb-over, announced that he would not run for President of the United States despite the fact, he said, he’d make a darn good one. Likewise, Fox TV preacher Mike Huckabee fell away. He didn’t claim to have talked to God about this, but said that he listened to Him. And, perhaps best of all, Charlie Sheen shut up. So did Silvio Berlusconi.

Most uplifting, came from Queen Elizabeth who demonstrated that she was more of a man than most by spending four days in Ireland even though two bombs, and hundreds of crazies, intended to shorten her lengthy life.

This was followed by another uplifting event when President Barack O’Bama (on his way soon to look up his mother’s Irish kin) made an eloquent address which called for changes and most importantly equal rights for females in the Arab world.

“Throughout history country’s never reach their full potential when more than half their population is prevented from reaching their full potential,” he said, echoing his Cairo message two years ago.

Which brings up the issue of Strauss-Kahn’s International Monetary Fund replacement. As one blog has suggested, the best “man” for the job would be French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde. I agree. I had the honor of interviewing her in January on my way to Davos. For those who do not know, she is a superstar. Statuesque and outspoken, she is one of the world’s most powerful women. Before entering politics in 2005, she was a lawyer and the first female CEO of international law firm, Baker & McKenzie in Chicago. She’s classy and down to earth, all at the same time, and speaks the Queen’s English better than most of us.

When I spoke with her she and President Nicolas Sarkozy had just taken on France’s trade unions and won despite months of marches and work stoppages. She explained their uncharacteristic backbone: “It was months because we did not give in. The strikes were a major test. We decided to persist. I think it’s a real turning point. Previously, governments facing 1.5 million to 2 million people in the streets of Paris would back away. From the beginning of our pension reform process, we knew that there would be protests and we knew that we would not give in.”

So all in all, it was a week like no other and underscored the fact that women should be handed the reins more often than not. This may be blatantly sexist, but Hillary would have been a darn better President than her husband and Madam Lagarde will be a better IMF Managing Director, or even President of France, than would DSK or most men for that matter.
Sorry fellas.

**********

Readers: I enjoyed the write but, I wouldn’t have ended it with “Sorry fellas”. There is no reason to say sorry. Men fuck up all of the time when it comes to this world. Because guess what? They care more about the buck than anything else. I don’t hear them saying “Sorry girls – we screwed up again.”

We should have a fair chance at the reins, shouldn’t we? Yes, but we don’t.  Women are not going to be handed the reins; we have to take them. And taking them means we need the support of women and men. And I stress women, because most men are not going to hand them to us; we girls have to stick together and fight for them, take them. It’s a simple as that. And yes, simpler said than done.

Okay…Doug is bugging me to take a walk and I am really wanting to, so I am going to end even though I don’t like leaving when I have more to say. So I guess I am done. Your turn. Blog me.

PEACE OUT.

Michelle., I have been a reader for better than 2 years. This write and your comments prompted me to comment. I personally liked the way the author introduced the article by reminding us of why men are fuck ups.

Men are fuck ups because they think with their dicks. The author was subtly pointing this out. The jury on Obama is still out, but I don’t think it will happen because usually there is a hint of a man’s dalliances when he is being lead by his little head.

But you were right on target with your assessment of how the author ended his article. And your call to arms even better. It prompted me to speak up and not be content to nodding and thinking “you tell them Michelle.”

You are so right we as women need to get together and stick together.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PESTICIDE DANGERS

Spring is around the corner, and the last thing I want to be thinking about is fruit salad dosed with pesticides or a lovely cut of meat on the grill, generously marinated in bug spray.

Why, then, is my mind traveling so firmly in this direction? It’s almost 40 years after DDT was banned, and you would think that we’d now feel safe and comfortable in knowing that we are exposed to fewer toxic pesticides. Instead there’s evidence that we’re exposed to more.

About 70,000 different chemicals are used in the US today, making the chemical companies healthy even if we’re not.

Although many of these chemicals are known carcinogens, there isn’t a lot of scientific research that has successfully proved a causal link to cancer — since, in addition to being expensive, this would take decades to prove… and, of course, no one will get rich from the results.

Now new research is emerging that links pesticides to other known health problems, so I thought it was important to take a look at what we know — and what we don’t know — about the dangers of the pesticides used in growing the foods we eat.

    SO MANY CHEMICALS

Fruits and vegetables receive the highest dosage of pesticides, so they’re more likely to be contaminated than other foods.

For instance, conventional, non-organic growers can choose from as many as 62 different types of pesticide products to treat a crop of peaches (and each crop is typically treated with many different types)… 52 for blueberries… 42 for apples.

And you may not realize that pesticides also have been found in meat and chicken, especially in the thighs.

I spoke to David Pimentel, PhD, a professor in the department of entomology, systematics and ecology at Cornell University about this trend.

“About 70% of the foods that consumers buy have detectable levels of pesticide residues,” Dr. Pimentel told me.

    WHO IS MOST AT RISK?

Regarding the connection between cancer and pesticides, it is safe to say there’s good reason to worry about one.

Noting that more research is needed on this important topic, Dr. Pimentel said. “There is no question that pesticides can cause cancer — the question is, how many people do they affect?” He noted that people with a genetic risk for cancer are quite likely the most vulnerable.

Meanwhile, researchers continue to uncover more ways that absorbing pesticides — by eating, touching or breathing them — is bad for our health… most especially for people who are already somewhat unhealthy due to poor lifestyle or other conditions that depress their immunity.

    Among the recent findings…
Parkinson’s disease. It appears that exposure to pesticides may trigger Parkinsons’s disease in genetically predisposed people.

In a large 2006 study, researchers at Harvard School of Public Health found that participants exposed to pesticides (specifically, farmers, ranchers, fishermen and people who used pesticides in their homes or gardens) had a 70% higher incidence of Parkinson’s than those who weren’t exposed.

The latest research, reported in February 2011 and conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, shows that people exposed in their professions to the pesticides paraquat or rotenone developed Parkinson’s approximately 2.5 times more often than people who were not exposed.

Both pesticides cause cellular damage.Paraquat, in particular, is an extremely toxic substance originally developed as an herbicide.

Dementia. A study that collected data between 1997 and 2003 from French vineyard workers who spent at least two decades applying pesticides to plants or working in buildings where pesticides were housed showed that these workers scored low on a test of memory and recall.

Researchers speculate that the changes demonstrated in the mental functioning of these people indicate that they may eventually develop a neurodegenerative disease, such as Alzheimer’s.

Infertility. In a 2008 review of studies on pesticide exposure, epidemiologists showed a decline in the semen quality and quantity of farm workers, which impaired male fertility by 40%. “Infertility, especially in men, is increasing in proportion to greater exposure to pesticides,” said Dr. Pimentel.

    KIDS ARE VULNERABLE

For children, there is bad news and good news. First of all, the problem of pesticide exposure is amplified compared with adults. “Kids are growing,” noted Dr. Pimentel. “In relation to body weight, they eat more than adults.”

One study found that the urine of children eating a variety of conventional foods contained markers for organophosphates, a lethal group of pesticides used to disable the nervous system of pests that is, not incidentally, used to make the deadly nerve gas saran.

However, the study also found that when the children’s diets were switched to only organic foods, the chemicals disappeared from their bodies within 36 hours.

    WHAT TO DO

You may take some comfort — briefly — in knowing that, by Dr. Pimentel’s reckoning, newer pesticides are used at 1/1,000 of the amount as had been the case with DDT.

But don’t be fooled by this simplistic comparison — ounce for ounce or pound for pound, “These newer materials are far more toxic, not just to pests but also to humans.”

Washing and peeling helps only if a chemical is on the outside of a fruit or vegetable, Dr. Pimentel noted — but the sad fact is that some of these toxins are taken up by the plant as it grows, meaning that the pesticides end up inside the flesh of the produce and therefore cannot be removed even with careful washing and peeling.

Foods least likely to have pesticide residue after washing include onions, avocados, corn, pineapples, mangoes, asparagus, sweet peas, kiwi, cabbage, eggplant, papaya, watermelon, broccoli, tomatoes and sweet potatoes.

Some of these foods have thick skins that protect the food, while others face fewer threats from pests and so are sprayed less.

Avoiding the most contaminated types of fruits and vegetables or buying their organic counterparts reduces your pesticide exposure by 80%.

The following foods, when grown conventionally, contain the most pesticide residue even after washing and/or peeling: Celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, bell peppers, spinach, kale, cherries, potatoes, grapes, carrots.

Choose carefully, buy organic when possible and be sure to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly to be certain they’ll keep you healthy, not make you sick.

I noticed the only male name of note belonged to a black man, Obama. In my country we all started out admiring the man. But he lost some credibility over the last year. But I never lost faith in the man.

I am happy to report his stature has returned after his speech in Egypt. The world looks to him for leadership.

  4. Zenali Says:

Most white men are racists because they think with their penises. They believe that a woman will select a man because of the size of his penis and since most white men believe they would come up short(no pun intended) in that department when compared to a black man, they do everything in their power to make the world believe that the black man is mentally inferior.

It must be particularly galling to wake each morning to another first by this very intelligent black man.

At the risk of abusing the privilege of sounding off on Michelle’s blog. I want to assure you I was not putting you down in any way. Unfortunately, your family experience has and will continue to be repeated the world over by parents that should have had to take a test and pass before allowing to breed.

I am not saying those parents weren’t or are not capable of loving their children as well as those who know how to give theirs direction. I am only saying that children need more than just love to when they are maturing adults.

I am happy that you are happy. As long as you don’t let life and circumstances get you down, there is always the possibility that an opportunity will present itself. Most people get their share but they are not prepared when it presents itself. If one is not prepared when the opportunity arises, it passes them by sometimes unobserved.

My advice is to learn to recognize your shortcomings or weaknesses and work to improve them, but to also give credit to yourself for your strengths. Nourish and brag on them to yourself. Be proud so that when the opportunity peeps through your window you will be ready.

I agree Zenali. Obama doesn’t feel that he has to prove anything with his penis so he puts his mind to solving the problems of the country and the world.

  10. AH Says:

    We are in 1876:

Californians can breathe a sigh of relief. Panamint City is no more. The single-stree mining town came into being four years ago in a silver boom.

Of all the west’s wild towns it was the worst. Forty of its public buildings were gambling-hells; more were saloons; more still were brothels or prostitutes’ cribs.

In the brothels, men shot each other, wrangling over who got first go at the new girls. Between two of the saloons, and iron sheet had to be installed between the walls to prevent shootouts in the Oriental from penetrating the lath and plaster and killing patrons next door in the Dexter (and vice versa)!

Wells Fargo refused to transport bullion from Panamint, so automatically were its coaches robbed. Eventually, miners overcame this difficulty by welding their silver into vast balls that could only be rolled slowly down the roadway.

Thus no robber could shift them quickly enough to evade capture. But the Heavens have spoken. Panamint City has been entirely washed away in a flash flood.

A Harmon store was raided on May 11 after the Guam Police Department received an anonymous tip that the store, advertised as selling adult novelty items, had a high volume of traffic, even during daytime hours, according to police.

The anonymous caller believed that kind of traffic was “inconsistent with the type of merchandise usually sold there” according to police, therefore piquing the caller’s suspicion.

Last week, Special Investigations Section officials seized over 300 individual packages of the drug commonly known as “spice,” from the Playboy Gift Shop, a press release from police spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia stated.

“Spice” is a mixture of herbs and spices that is typically sprayed with a synthetic compound chemically similar to THC, the psychoactive ingredients in marijuana. These chemical compounds typically include HU-210, HU-211, JWH-018, and JWH-073, the press release stated.

The drug is most commonly found at head shops, tobacco shops, various retail outlets, and over the Internet and is often marketed as incense or “fake weed,” according to police.

However, Guam law prohibits the possession of these compounds.

Police said these particular packages were sold in amounts of 3-5 grams and were selling from $30-$60 and were marketed with names like Black Mamba, Wicked XXX, K2, Cloud 10 Storm, Funky Monkey and others.

No arrests were made, and police said the store’s management has agreed to cooperate with investigators fully.

The investigation continues and Special Investigations Section agents will continue to monitor and conduct surprise inspections of various shops to ensure full compliance of Guam Law, police stated in the press release.

I agree Misch, no sorry fellas needed there. It’s tough to get women to stick together though, too man are still willing to defer to men and too many will toss another woman under the bus for a man, I’m hoping for change and evolution in that regard, and the sooner the better.

I’m a wimp, giving someone HIV for cheating seems harsh, I don’t think I could do it. I’m more of a ‘living well is the best revenge’ but again, I’m much more wimpy than some of you. I’m not judging, I just know that when I get to that I’m outta here point I just want him/her and anyone else to just go away and don’t call me I’ll call you. I’m kind of envying your cajones : ) and yes, men can be dogs, so maybe they can be trained? ahahaha…

I just had to write a little something about that 8 year old botox/beauty story bc not much shocks me (esp after reading here for 3+ yrs) but what’shole story say about women/beauty beliefs in general??

George, badabump…that’s an old one and you know, wedding cakes make men lazy in the haystack, too. Go ahead and try to blame that on the female, methinks not.

Bob, driving over 70 is considered very sexy in some circles : )

    Luv, Zen Lill

  19. Connie Says:

Zen Lill, I’m with you on one point of your discussion about giving a man HIV for cheating. I don’t think I could do it either. But for the record he didn’t just cheat. He did it without using a condom. That’s why Terri(20/5-#31) got the clap.

The implications are huge. He could have given her HIV. Would you have condoned her revenge if she had been given a death sentence like that?

I’m not criticizing you for your comment, I don’t know if I could have done it(I lack the cajones too), but I certainly admire Terri for having them.

The fact is when men fuck other women without using a condom and they have a wife or significant other who is assuming it is safe to have intercourse with them without a condom because he is not exposing her to dangers she has not agreed to take, the time is OVER for them to think they can be excused by a “I’m sorry.”

I say if women continue to allow men to get off that easy, they will continue to be exposed to diseases that could main or kill them.

How easy it is to say forgive him? But I doubt any woman who discovers she has been given AIDS, HIV or Hepatitis 3 by her philandering husband or boyfriend will be in a forgiving mood.

Getting it by trusting some man you have the hots for is your fault if you are stupid enough to trust a man who would be willing to have intercourse with you without a condom on the first date. That says exactly who he is. He is a dog. Dogs fuck any bitch in heat without a condom. Responsible humans, men or women don’t.

The other thing is it says a lot about how much your husband or significant other thinks about you. Basically he or she is saying “fuck you,” it’s my pleasure I’m concerned about.

So my feeling is I have to get some cajones. If my husband gives me anything I will kill him.

But as Judy(20/5-29) pointed out ” Make a plan and work the plan.” Don’t do jail time for the cheating bastard.

    FULL BLADDER: BETTER DECISIONS

If you plan to talk with your stockbroker, it might be wise to drink several cups of coffee and then wait 45 minutes. No, that’s not the first line in a joke about liquid assets.

It’s what I was told by the lead author of a recent study on the link between controlling impulses and making decisions.

The study, published in the May 2011, issue of Psychological Science, concluded that we make better decisions while controlling the impulse to urinate.

One hundred and two participants were tracked. Half of them drank five cups of water over a period of five to 10 minutes, then waited 45 minutes… while others took only small sips of water over the same period.

Then all participants were given two tasks. First, they were asked to choose a small reward that they would receive soon or a larger reward that they would receive in several days.

A typical choice was between $16 tomorrow — or $30 in 35 days. Then, on a scale of one to seven, the participants were asked to assess their need to urinate — with one indicating no urgency and seven indicating great urgency.

    UNEXPECTED RESULTS

Researchers discovered that participants with the greatest need to urinate (average, 4.5 points on the scale) were much more likely to prefer the larger — and delayed — reward.

Researchers understood both the seriousness and humor in their study, which is titled “Inhibitory spillover: Increased urination urgency facilitates impulse control in unrelated domains.”

“These findings,” researchers wrote, “show how inhibitory signals stemming from increased bladder pressure influence people in choosing between short- versus long-term benefits.”

In other words, the pressure on their bladders led to control not only over whether or not to urinate – but also over the potentially impulsive financial decision.

Participants who held off nature’s call also held out for the reward that was more beneficial in the long term.

After reading the study, I couldn’t resist the urge to contact the lead author, Mirjam A. Tuk, PhD, a psychologist who specializes in consumer behavior at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

I told Dr. Tuk that most people might have expected the opposite results — that urgency would have led participants to choose immediate rewards, even if they were smaller.

“Yes, many people would think that,” Dr. Tuk said. But she pointed out that we all learn how to control our bladders at an early age.

Over the years, she suggested, “people become accustomed to making decisions while knowing that in the next 15 to 30 minutes they may have to go to the bathroom.”

Can we make use of this study? We can certainly give it a shot. Dr. Tuk said people might try drinking liquids before making important decisions in the hope that the decisions will be made more thoughtfully.

“For example, when you speak with a stockbroker,” she suggested, “don’t go to the bathroom before the meeting.” The same technique might help in buying a car.

“Instead of choosing a flashy car that’s nothing more than a status symbol,” she said, “you might pick a more practical one that’s environmentally friendly with room for the entire family.”

Well, that’s a long shot — but at least you won’t be thirsty!

Peter say goodbye to your spice. The real thing is probably better for you anyway.

On November 24, 2010, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency announced it would make five synthetic cannabinoids Schedule I drugs within a month using emergency powers.Prior to the announcement, several US states had already made them illegal under state law. As of March 1, 2011, five cannabinoids, JWH-018, JWH-073, CP-47,497, JWH-200, and cannabicyclohexanol are now illegal in the US.

No official studies have been conducted on its effects on humans.Though its effects are not well documented, extremely large doses may cause negative effects that are generally not noted in marijuana users, such as increased agitation and vomiting.Professor John W. Huffman who first synthesised many of the cannabinoids used in synthetic cannabis is quoted as saying, “People who use it are idiots.” “You don’t know what it’s going to do to you.” A user who consumed 3 g of Spice Gold every day for several months showed withdrawal symptoms, similar to those associated with withdrawing from the use of narcotics. Doctors treating the user also noted that his use of the product showed signs associated with addiction. One case has been reported where a user, who had previously suffered from cannabis induced recurrent psychotic episodes, suffered reactivation of their symptoms after using Spice. Psychiatrists treating him have suggested that the lack of an antipsychotic chemical, similar to cannabidiol found in natural cannabis, may make synthetic cannabis more likely to induce psychosis than natural cannabis.

    That doesn’t sound good

Wonderful welcome addition to Michelle’s blog. Great to see you take the time to inform Peter about the dangers of a drug you have knowledge about.

In that spirit, I will share this article that refutes another shrill for the AMA and the vaccine industry. Like the scientists for hire the tobacco industry used for decades to continue killing people with their drug, the Vaccine Industry is continuing to poison children all over the world.

They are responsible for 90% of all the autism cases worldwide. But they have been given financial immunity for anything they poison their patients with.

Here is an article about the two most prominent scientists they were using to back up their claims that their vaccines were safe. It turns out they were not only lying for the money, they were not even doing the fake research. They were stealing from the crooks that were paying them to lie.
    =========================
American prosecutors are attempting to extradite a Danish scientist.

Poul Thorsen has been charged with 13 counts of wire fraud and nine counts of money laundering; a federal grand jury alleges that Thorsen stole over $1 million from autism research funding between February 2004 and June 2008.

Thorsen is said to have used the proceeds to buy a home in Atlanta, two cars and a Harley Davidson. He is said to have stolen the money while serving as the ‘principal investigator’ for a program that studied the relationship between autism and exposure to vaccines.

    The Copenhagen Post reports:

“… [O]ver the four-year period he submitted over a dozen false invoices from the CDC for research expenses to Aarhus University, where he held a faculty position, instructing them to transfer the funds to a CDC account, which was in fact his personal account …

Thorsen’s research on autism is widely known in academic circles, where he was until this week a highly respected figure. A paper of his on the subject, which is known as ‘The Danish Study’, is quoted extensively to refute the autism vaccine connection.”

Another prominent name in vaccine medicine, Dr. Paul Offit, well-known shill for the vaccine industry, has also been called out for making false and unsubstantiated statements about CBS News Investigative Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson and her report looking into the ties between vaccine supporters and the vaccine industry.

On April 18, 2011, the California Orange County Register issued a retraction of an August 4, 2008 article containing disparaging statements made by Dr. Offit about Attkisson.

    According to Adventures in Autism:

“Upon further review, it appears that a number of Dr. Offit’s statements, as quoted in the OC Register article, were unsubstantiated and/or false. Attkisson had previously reported on the vaccine industry ties of Dr. Offit and others in a CBS Evening News report ‘How Independent Are Vaccine Defenders?’”

The unsubstantiated statements included a claim that Attkisson “lied”, and a claim that CBS News sent a “mean spirited and vituperative” email. Offit also told the OC Register that he provided CBS News “the details of his relationship … with pharmaceutical company Merck”, but documents provided by CBS News indicate Offit did not disclose all of his financial relationships with Merck.

The crooks stealing from the crooks. I guess his logic was why waste all that good money on research when they just want me to lie about the results.

Pay off your smallest debt first to be motivated to continue paying off your debts. Most financial advisers recommend paying your largest debts and those with the highest interest rate first, but that can take time, which can be frustrating.

Paying off the smallest debt completely makes you feel that you really are making progress. Caution: Be sure that you continue to make at least minimum payments on larger obligations, such as car loans, credit card bills and student loans.

Environment: Nitrogen from sewage emerging as coral threat

Better water treatment could help mitigate impacts
    By Summit Voice
SUMMIT COUNTY — Nitrogen from sewage is replacing nitrogen from chemical fertilizers as one of the primary sources of pollution that damages fragile offshore reef ecosystems.

The effects are particularly pronounced in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, according to a study published recently in the journal Global Change Biology.

Nitrogen pollution in coastal ecosystems leads to decreased water transparency, the loss of desirable fish species, and the emergence of toxic phytoplankton species like the algae behind the renowned “red tides” that kill fish.

Fertilizer has been the dominant source of nitrogen pollution in Caribbean coastal ecosystems for the past 50 years, but such pollution is on the decline.

“We can’t simply say our coastal ecosystem is being polluted by nitrogen,” said Kiho Kim, one of the study’s authors and chair of environmental science at American University.

“The consequences may be the same, but differentiating the source of the pollutants is critical to crafting sustainable solutions—you can’t fix a problem if you don’t know what’s causing it.”

Through a chemical analysis of 300 coral samples from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History’s Invertebrate Zoology Collection, Kim and some American University graduate students reconstructed a record of nitrogen inputs into the Caribbean over the last 150 years. Agricultural and sewage pollution create different signatures in organisms like coral.

“We determined that poor stormwater management and wastewater treatment were really to blame over the last decade for nitrogen pollution in the Caribbean,” said Kim. “Our next step is to document this process in action.”

To do this, Kim will focus on coral samples from the coastal areas of Guam, a small Pacific island that during the next four years will experience a population increase of 20 percent as the U.S. military relocates Marines from Okinawa, Japan to Guam.

Guam already has poor waste water infrastructure, and the influx of military personnel will further strain the island’s resources.

For Kim, the transition presents a unique opportunity to observe and document, in real time, the impact of increased sewage-derived nitrogen on the health of the coral reefs.

He has already collected some baseline data in Guam, thanks to a small grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The Marines’ translocation has recently slowed a bit, partially because of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“This means that we will have time to collect more comprehensive baseline data,” said Kim, who will return to Guam this summer to perform another set of sample and data collections with his colleague at the University of Guam
    =====================
What is going to happen when the marines, navy, and air force additions with their families and support get here? That’s at least another ton of shit a day the Coral reef will have to deal with.

    1. The engagement ring signifies the first of many major lies the man lays on the woman. He claims that he will be the same caring lovable person who is wooing her if she marries him.

    2. With the wedding ring he thinks now that I have her secured from the advances of other men. It is safe for me to get my horny chase of other women on. So he lies to her by claiming he will honor his marriage vows.
