Go Geena
Posted by Michelle Moquin on June 13th, 2011
Good morning!
I know it’s not Saturday but I just couldn’t help starting off the week on a positive note, with another wonderful woman of the world. (Thanks Doug!)
This news is a few weeks old, but new to me. Perhaps you too.
Geena Davis Expects Public Media to Set the Bar High
Oscar-winning Actor Geena Davis helped launch ITVS’ Women and Girls Lead campaign at last week’s PBS Annual meeting in Orlando, FL. During the conference, Davis sat down with PBS NewsHour President Simon Marks to discuss her own work on gender discrimination in media, as well as ITVS’ multi-year initiative, aimed at supporting women and girl’s leadership through independent films.
Watch the full episode. See more PBS NewsHour.

Okay, the video shows up in my admin but for some reason won’t show up live. (deep sigh). Please click on the title and you will be able to watch the video from the original site posted by “Beyond the Box”. Thanks.
Mark: I did a quick google and didn’t find any but I don’t doubt your word. My question to you, is although you are embarrassed by the length that your race will go, to slander our president, will you do anything about it besides refuse to take the job? There will be others that will jump at the opportunity. There is no end in sight to racism.
If you feel so strongly against as it seems you do, and you are embarrassed (so many others have written here feeling the same way), what will you do to combat it? I ask this not of just you but of all of my readers who feel as you do. We can’t “Just notice” and keep bitching – something has to be done too.
Lenny: You probably got that right. When will women start supporting women, like men support men? I HOPE you had some words with your sister.
Zen Lill: I had every intention of calling you yesterday but my day took a different path than I had expected. I ended my day with a walk in the park which I then also intended to call you, but I took a moment of relaxation, and fell asleep in my car with Lucy for a brief respite. When I woke, I just wanted to continue the quiet…so I did. We’ll connect at some point.
Howie: Interesting read.
Anonymous: Well spoken and unfortunately true.
Readers: I have more to say but will reserve it for another day….the forum is now open. Thoughts? Blog me.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,

Is Your Drinking Water Safe?
Robert D. Morris, MD, PhD
Since 2004, more than 62 million Americans have been exposed to drinking water that did not meet at least one of the government health guidelines intended to protect people from disease. And more than 20 million Americans become sick every year from contaminated drinking water, with ills ranging from digestive upset to cancer.
Common contaminants of drinking water include microbes (Cryptosporidium, Giardia, viruses)…
metals and minerals (lead, copper, arsenic)…
agricultural chemicals (nitrates, atrazine and other pesticides)…
industrial chemicals linked to cancer (such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), a gasoline additive, and trichloroethylene (TCE), a common solvent)…
radon… and chemicals in treated sewage (including pharmaceutical compounds and endocrine disruptors).
The most common — and possibly the most toxic — chemical contaminants are the chlorination by-products formed when we add chlorine to disinfect our drinking water.
Is your drinking water safe? And what can you do if it’s not?
SAFETY PROBLEMS
Water safety problems include…
No comprehensive monitoring system for waterborne illnesses. Waterborne illnesses are not carefully monitored by the US government.
It is very difficult to prove that drinking water is causing a particular illness or even a pattern of illnesses in a community.
Safety regulations often are a compromise. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) determines a “safe” level of a contaminant in water, that level often is influenced as much by politics as by science.
Most chemicals are not regulated. Only 91 contaminants are regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act, but there are more than 60,000 chemicals produced in the US, many of which appear in water supplies at low levels — and some of which may cause a chronic disease, such as cancer, after 10 to 20 years of regular consumption.
Aging infrastructure. The failure of financially stretched municipalities to repair or replace failing treatment plants and decaying water pipes puts us at risk for contamination from treatment failures and ruptured
pipes.
RED FLAGS
Information on your local water supply can be obtained either from your water utility Web site or from the “Consumer Confidence” report (sometimes called the “Water Quality” or “Right to Know” report) mailed annually to you.
Another source of information about your drinking water is the EPA (www.epa.gov/safewater, and click on “Local Drinking Water Quality”).
You may have particular reason to be concerned about your water if you…
Drink from unprotected surface water.
Every significant waterway in the US — unless it is explicitly protected as drinking water — receives contaminants from many sources and thus routinely contains agricultural chemicals, industrial discharges, and both treated and untreated sewage. Even treated wastewater contains pathogens and household waste chemicals, including endocrine-disrupting chemicals and excreted drugs and their metabolites.
Drink unfiltered surface water. Many major cities, including Boston, New York and San Francisco, do not filter their drinking water.
They justify this because the watershed is “protected,” but these watersheds are not pristine and may receive treated wastewater.
Drink groundwater and live near farms, mines or hazardous waste sites. Animal waste, fertilizers and pesticides all can leach into groundwater. New or abandoned mines and landfills also can contaminate your water.
Are in a high-risk group — age 65 or older… young children… those who are pregnant…
or have a medical condition (such as rheumatoid arthritis) or are undergoing treatment (such as chemotherapy) that compromises the immune system. These groups are more susceptible to waterborne infections and chemical contamination.
To protect yourself and your family…
FILTER YOUR WATER
You can improve the quality of water in your home by using a water filter. The appropriate filter depends on the source of your water and the health status of your household members.
If you rely on public groundwater, a simple carbon filter is probably sufficient to remove chlorination by-products and any chemicals that might reach the aquifer.
If you rely on protected surface water (from reservoirs reserved for drinking water in a protected watershed), you will want a combination of micro-filtration and carbon filtration.
This will eliminate most contaminants. Most home water filters will provide this. Look for a filter with a pore size of less than one micron.
If your water is from an unprotected surface source, you may need to consider a filter that also eliminates bacteria and viruses. This can be accomplished with either ultraviolet (UV) disinfection or reverse osmosis.
Reverse osmosis removes fluoride from the water, which can increase the risk for dental cavities in children.
If you have a well.
A deep, properly constructed private well might not require any filtration, but it can be vulnerable to contamination from either naturally occurring mineral contaminants (such as arsenic or radon) or infiltration from local sources of contamination (such as agricultural runoff or buried hazardous waste).
Your local health department should be able to tell you if contamination is a problem and offer mitigation strategies.
If your house has a lead pipe connecting it to the street. Homes built before 1970 (especially before 1950) may have lead pipes to the street. Ask your plumber. Replace the lead pipe if you can, or install a filter to remove lead.
If you are in a high-risk group, you may need a filter that eliminates bacteria and viruses (see “Drink from unprotected surface water”).
If you are not sure whether a particular contaminant will be removed, reliable information can be found either through the National Sanitation Foundation (www.nsf.org/certified/dwtu) or the state of California at http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/device (click on “Water Treatment Devices”).
Filters are available at most hardware stores and online and can be installed directly on a faucet, under the sink (by a plumber) or on a countertop. There also are refillable pitchers with filters.
Example: PUR 2-Stage Water Dispenser.
Cost: About $35. Your refrigerator water and/or ice dispenser also should have a filter appropriate to your needs.

Jalabad Says: ?June 12th, 2011 at 11:57 pm Dr. Arieh Eldad:?Many arab men and most arab women are aware of the hypocrisy of the men of islam who put women and children in harms way by forcing them to be combatants for the cowardly men who sit in their homes and wave their fists at Israel and America. They vow to fight to the death to defend Allah and their way of life.
?
2. “Barbarians” is a kind word for them and the Hamas who force women and children to die because they are too cowardly to risk their own lives for their convictions. One would have to think they don’t believe all that much in the Qur’an.?
3. Now Israel soldiers and civilians are forced to shoot first and ask questions later lest they be blown up by a child or woman forced by the brave Hamas to strap lethal bombs to their bodies. ?Then those cowardly men tell the world that that child or woman chose to die. Who believes their lies? Only the cowards dare to believe. The same cowards who would believe that a man who would marry a 6 year old child could be a Saint. ?
4. Allah would no more make such a man a voice of His as He would any other child molester. But to these men it is okay. Just as it is okay to force women and children to strap hidden bombs to themselves and have them detonated remotely by some coward hiding a discrete safe distance away. ?Jalalabad

The fact that we, women are forced to be a part of a scheme by men to imprison us and use us as sex slaves and have that scheme justified and accepted by the rest of the civilized world as a “religion” is only lessened by the men who accept the scheme as a fact.
My question to you Dr. Arieh Elbad, is who is the more barbaric, the sick sexual deviates who perpetrate the scheme or the greedy, sick westerners who give acceptance and license to the deviate men to continue to exploit, terrorize and murder us?

Don’t miss tonight’s secpmd Republican Presidential primary debate. The fact that the republicans would field a degenerate like Gingrich, and an idiot like Michelle Bachmann says more about the who are republicans than it does about the candidates.
Pawlenty, one of the candidates has called Bachmann a candidate for “comedian-in-chief.” But the rank-in-file of the republican party still sees her as a viable Presidential candidate while questioning the intelligence of Obama.
I guess when the underling issue for the rank-in-file of the republican party is race, then it really doesn’t matter who their candidate ends up to be as long as he/she is WHITE.

Go Geena and Go Mischa, napping in your car rocks, does it not? I thought I was the only one who did that and loved it! hahaha…I also love eating in my car (if I have to be on the road during meals and errands/meetings/etc) so I can listen to talk radio (or just be silent with no background chatter), how about you?
Lots of chatter from the alien beings here lately and about – farting? Cannot stop laughing. I love all the bantering though, I wonder when Azza will chime in, I’ve been missing her for a few years now : (
Where’s the regulars, Howie, Bob, george(should I ask?) and Ruth/Evelyn (she OK?) and Harris…who else did I miss? Al’a'mode’ – hi : )

Zen Lill:
Thanks for asking about me. I appreciate your concern.
I believe that I have been commenting regularly, however I do have something I will post just because you asked.
On Saturday June 11, 11ok65ru (comment #1) asked the TAO to use their seismic control to strike Germany for capturing a fallen shuttle craft.
I hope Germany complies with the demands of the TAO and returns the shuttle craft IN ITS ENTIRETY, as requested, or they face the disasters the TAO can inflict.
We have NOT been complying with Alien demands to leave them be or suffer the consequences. On the contrary. We Humans never seem to learn.
Germany was selected by NATO to be the country to build and operate a craft that could track and capture an alien spaceship and its occupants. They have built a secret underground vault deep down in the Black Forest to house and experiment with anything alien they capture or recover. This is not exactly complying with the TAO request.
The TAO have made it clear that All Germany’s Nuclear Power plants are subject to a major earthquake if they do not comply.
Germany doesn’t want to have its country threatened because of the nuclear power plants they have throughout their country. So NATO nations agreed to help Germany build alternatives to its nuclear power plants. The government has been telling the German people it is just trying to go “Green.” They are not “Green” yet. They depend on nuclear power like everyone else.
The Nuclear regulatory agencies of many countries including the US have been lying so long about the dangers of Nuclear power plants. They are using all their influence to get their respective countries to say no to be the country to accept the challenge to capture and keep a spacecraft. I agree with Michelle in her Post. It appears Germany has captured a spacecraft before they got the job done of ridding their country of nuclear power plants and is a target for alien attack to them.
I have an update to the above information: Some technology was smuggled out of the craft before it was returned and sent to New Zealand via Australia. They actually believed they could outsmart the TAO.
New Zealand may now be the target of the TAO.

Hi Howie, thank you, a lot of this alien banter has been tough to follow as I try not to tune in soooo daily anymore. But, if I don’t it’s hard to keep up if there’s been a lot of commenting.
As we can see, NZ got it..cannot find anything about Germany and earthquakes making news yet though, probably just a matter of time though bc as you said, we humans rarely listen up. I’m ready to beam on outta here anytime : ) as a girlz should be.
And Howie, I am always concerned for you, and for Al, I love being blogging pals and I know you both have health issues that can change daily things quickly, so when you’re not here for more than a few I start wondering. – Zen Lill

Zen Lill, thanks for the thought. I knew a beautiful white woman raised by one of America’s Finest would rise to the top.
I haven’t gone anywhere. I read the blog everyday. I feel it is my duty to study the liberal mind. I don’t believe all this alien talk on the blog. But I sure would like to know where the jew gets his information. He’s probably working for the Obama government pushing some liberal agenda.
Thank you for recognizing my status as a regular. Michelle can only acknowledge her liberal contributors. I have several friends that call me daily about a lot of the shit she allows her readers and men haters to post on this blog.
I have no love for the camel niggers, but I say let them deal with their bitches the way they want to. I don’t hold no tolerance for that god they call allah. But if they want to put their foot up their women’s asses when they feel like it, I say leave the men alone.
Who really knows what those bitches have been up to? Look at the mess we have wrought here by giving women the right to vote and outlawing than cane we legalized for their asses. Who else but a white woman could have cast enough votes to put that nigger in the White House.
If liberal white men hadn’t given women the right to vote that title “White House” would still mean something.

WHAT WENT WRONG WITH DARVON?
Darvon is such a common prescription painkiller — and it has been for such a long time — that I was somewhat surprised when the FDA pulled it off the market a few months ago.
The matter was treated with a great sense of urgency — the FDA announcement explained that “new clinical data” shows that patients taking Darvon are at risk for potentially serious or even fatal heart rhythm abnormalities.
But Darvon (propoxyphene) has been on the market since 1957! Is it really possible that this is a new problem that no one noticed before?
DARVON DANGERS
Well, actually it turns out that they did. When I started digging around, I learned that there were questions about the safety of this popular drug as long ago as the 1970s.
In the UK, use of Darvon was discontinued altogether in 2005 due to the number of patient deaths associated with it… but here in the US, where Darvon was “grandfathered” in 1962 (meaning that it didn’t have to pass the same stringent safety requirements of newer drugs), many doctors continued prescribing it even in the face of its apparent dangers!
In fact, 10 million prescriptions were written as recently as 2010.
To learn more about how this happened, I called clinical pharmacist Melissa Murfin, PA-C, PharmD, assistant professor at the LECOM Bradenton School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, Florida.
She told me that only very recently did the concerns about Darvon’s safety rise to the level where the FDA required proof of the drug’s safety in a mandated clinical trial.
This was the research that linked Darvon with the potentially fatal heart-rhythm abnormalities and led the FDA to demand that the manufacturer, Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, withdraw it immediately from the market.
BAD CHEMISTRY
Dr. Murfin explained that propoxyphene becomes dangerous when the body breaks it down, creating a metabolic product called norpropoxyphene that is harmful to the heart.
Making matters even worse, norpropoxyphene remains in the body a long time, from 30 to 36 hours — even longer in older people.
Darvon (and its sister drug Darvocet, which also has been taken off the market) were meant to be taken every four hours, facilitating a dangerous buildup of norpropoxyphene in the body and creating an escalating risk of arrhythmia.
Again adding insult to injury, arrhythmia is an especially dangerous condition for the elderly, says Dr. Murfin, as well as for people with kidney problems.
Also, certain medications, such as antifungals… the antibiotic erythromycin… and the herb Saint-John’s-wort… along with grapefruit juice lead to even greater amounts of norpropoxyphene, potentially making matters even worse.
More outrageousness yet: The FDA research review found that this deadly drug isn’t even all that effective — researchers reported that its painkilling effectiveness is approximately equal to aspirin and other over-the-counter (OTC) analgesics.
The difference appears to be that as an opiate, Darvon also induced a euphoric effect that patients liked.
There are a number of other painkillers that you can take that are both safer and more effective including, possibly, an OTC drug.
Your doctor can provide advice on what products might be good choices for you… and if you have any Darvon or Darvocet left in your medicine cabinet, take it to the pharmacy and ask to have it disposed of safely. This drug is too dangerous to keep in the house.

I’ll tell you what went wrong with Darvon. The same thing that went wrong with Fluoride in our water. Both products don’t do what the AMA,or the ADA or the Health and Human Services Department claim they do. They just make money for the companies that pay those groups to advertise for them.
You are familiar with the initials BFF(Best Friends Forever), you should be more familiar with Corporate world’s version BPFF(Bought and Paid For Fiends).
The AMA, FDA, most heads of Government Departments that serve at the behest of the corporations the public expects them to regulate and our own STARK raving mad five Supreme Court Justices who have their own special meaning for BPFF – Bought & Paid For Five.
Health products don’t have to work or even be remotely connected to the malady they are supposed to help. They just have to be touted by a person or group who the public respects as an authority on the subject or area of health.
So the corps reason, why spend money on research that could yield nothing when we can spend it on ADVERTISEMENT for a product that does nothing? That old movie about the advertising exec played by James Garner who advertised a product that didn’t exist, the “Widget,” was not so far fetched after all. “Widgets” have been among us all the time.
You know them as Fluoride, Darvon, etc, etc, etc. Just another little “WHITE lie.” Check this link out – http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/01/07/fluoride.recommendations/index.html – to hear –
==========================
Fluoride was first added to water in the United States in the 1940s to help prevent tooth decay in children 8 years and under.
“One of water fluoridation’s biggest advantages is that it benefits all residents of a community — at home, work, school or play,” said Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Howard Koh. “And fluoridation’s effectiveness in preventing tooth decay is not limited to children, but extends throughout life, resulting in improved oral health.”

Isn’t America lucky to have had so many “white male only” offices in the government? Look how well they have protected us.
Happy Shopping

Thank you Robert for that slice of truth. That “WHITE lie” you showed us is alive and well in Michelle’s article. As GD said the studios were fond of using their WHITE lie – “that’s been dealt with.”
I am certain the OTWs out there have heard the same thing when they attempt to confront the continued stereotyping and job discrimination they have to deal with on a daily basis.
Women have to learn to stick together. But we must also be willing to toss aside the trash and sellouts that men thrust upon us as women to be backed by us. Like the Michelle Bachmans and the Sarah Palines.
