Are you focusing on the ‘lack’ in your life or are you discovering just how ‘blessed’ you really are?

Posted by Michelle Moquin on October 23rd, 2008

I have never been obsessed with having lots of money. In fact I have never been driven by it in anything that I have done. (No judgement on those that are.) My life, which includes my work, has always been based around the fact of living my life how I want and working in a career that inspires me and answers my passion for creativity.

My driving force has never been money. Yes, it was always wonderful making money doing what I loved to do, but it was never my reason for doing it. What really drove me was creative freedom.  The ability to be creative in my own terms…seeing my creations come to life exactly how I designed them to be. And because I have been doing this for over 24 years pretty consistently, I believe that I have taken my position for granted. I never felt as lucky and blessed as I truly have been.

Whenever I would meet someone and they asked what I did, my answer always left them saying the same thing to me, ‘Oh you are so lucky to be able to be in such a creative field doing what you love to do.’  But it was my life and I must admit that when something comes pretty easy, when talent comes naturally, one may not feel it is as special as others might think it is. Designing was and still is in my nature. It is what makes me tick, what inspires me, what brings me pure joy…what I have been blessed to have an abundance of.

Money on the other hand felt special because it never came easy. Money was the ever-elusive thing that as much as it never drove me, it was always present in my mind…jabbing at me. I never could attain enough of it that lead me to feeling totally successful in my life.

I have discovered recently that I may not have been a huge success in making lots of money but that in all of my years of hard work I was a huge success in doing what I loved to do. I am finally realizing after all of these years how blessed I really have been.  I couldn’t really see past the lack of success in the financial area. Society bases success on how much money one makes and unfortunately I allowed society to define success for me to a certain degree.

I felt in my life that I had it all, and really an abundance of ‘it’…except in one little area…financial freedom. In reality there was always enough. And even in these hard times now, I realize just how blessed I have been and how blessed I really am.

Last night I was zoning out on ‘Deal or no Deal’ – a reality game on TV where one can win a million dollars. I used to love this show but last night I felt very differently. These people on the show were so obsessed with the money and the happiness that they thought it would bring that it made me ill to watch.  They had a chance of walking home with over 600k and they chose to go for the mil, even when a family member said, ‘Take it – don’t be greedy.’ But no one paid attention to dear ‘ol mom’s advice. They were chomping at the bit for more and their greed got the best of them. They walked away with one dollar.

I walked away from the television feeling like this family represented our country. And all I could think was, “I’m done. I am done with wondering when my ‘time will come’…when all of my hard work will ‘pay off’. I am done with the constant tickling of the lack in my life.  The obsessive thoughts over money…that if I just do this right, this will come.’ My life is so rich in so many areas.  Yes, it would be delightful if it was in my pocketbook too, but this focus on the lack of it, surprise…only brings more and more importantly blinds me to seeing the abundance that I do have in so many more areas of my life.

Readers: I usually do not get so personal on my blog by writing about my finances, but I felt that maybe some of you in the midst of this economy might also be focused on your lack instead of seeing the abundance in your life.

I need to post this so I will address the rest of you commentators later. Thanks.

Hi Madaline: Barring any parameters that I previously gave you, do whatever it takes to prevent the republicans from stealing the election. I expect your answer immediately. You have your orders. 21MRB

Peace out.

    My Lady

Your question – “how do the Dems go about getting a brilliant hacker to right this wrong?”

There may be no way for this to be corrected by hackers. This was done by ESS the company that owns the software or by the calibrators (the people who set the amount of contact a finger needs to activate a response from the computer).

Either party can preset the computer to give a preset response. In most cases McCain’s name is posted first and the pressure to activate his name is extended to the space below which has Obama’s name.

If the person just presses Obama’s name and doesn’t bother to check he will have pressed Obama but the computer will register McCain.

Michelle and you should tell all voters to stay and see what the computer registers on the screen as to what vote was cast. He/she can just reset and hit Obama again. If McCain continues to post as his/her choice, a pole assistant should be called over to correct the problem. The voter should also call several government numbers, including CNN, MSNBC and report their problem. I don’t have the numbers presently, you and Michelle can look them up and post them on your blogs.

An additional problem in those states controlled by republican employees is that they will do everything in their power to steal your vote. It is a badge of honor for them to steal votes for republican candidates. Hence, it is imperative that the voter check all his/her votes so that any other democratic candidate or Initiative he/she has chosen is registered as he/she intended to vote.

At this writing tens of thousands of votes have already been stolen. The wires are full of testimonies by “good republican pole workers” attesting to the numbers of votes they have changed to republican.

They can brag brazenly because they know that the republican controlled federal and state authorities will not enforce the law against voter misconduct conducted against OTWs or democrats.

In some states a few thousand votes can mean the difference from winning or losing a state.

In the first election bush stole the republicans had to employ all three schemes and throw in a bought and paid for US Supreme Court justice to win.

For Kerry to lose a million verified OTWs who had voted before were denied the right to vote. The republicans were so embolden by the lack of balls the dems to fight the first Presidential grabs that they set out to steal elections at all levels.

Today they fear no reprisals. To them the democratic leadership is comprised of a bunch of cowards when it comes to defending the peoples’ right to fair representation.

  3. Health Info Says:

    STEP 1: DIET AND SUPPLEMENTS
No surprise that diet is one of the founding principles of Perricone’s latest plan.
‘Good underlying bone structure and muscle mass are the foundations of a youthful face,’ says Perricone.
‘Loss of muscle mass is the result of inflammation, so an anti-inflammatory diet that helps maintain muscle mass and prevent osteopenia (a weakening of the bones) is essential.’
However, one of the other issues with age is that the subcutaneous fat that plumps out the skin is lost, so the diet also has to include nutrients that will help maintain, and promote, these fat levels.

Based on the Perricone Prescription, this means lots of high quality protein, (wild Alaskan salmon, free-range chicken, shellfish and tofu) essential for cellular repair and the building blocks of muscle tissue

Low glycemic index fruit and veg ( blueberries, broccoli, spinach) keep blood sugar levels stable and supply the antioxidants that neutralise the free radicals that cause cellular damage, and essential fatty acids (found in fish, nuts and seeds) provide fuel for cellular energy.
In addition, Perricone suggests antioxidant supplements, such as alpha lipoic acid, resveratrol, pycnogenol, co-enzyme Q10 and astraxanthin, as well as nutrients that help redensify bones, such as calcium, magnesium, boron, silica and vitamin K2.
    STEP 2: MUSCLE STIMULATION
Perricone is convinced that the key to youth and beauty lies in muscle mass – while the rest of the world is intent on paralysing facial muscles, he wants to build them up.
‘When I started to work with a lot of celebrities, I was fascinated by what made them look so glamorous. Were they just genetically different to the rest of us?
‘I realised that what made the difference was the muscle mass in their faces, the soft tissue on their cheeks and chin.
‘If you look at someone like Angelina Jolie, she has these beautiful apples in her cheeks – they’re the result of the muscles in the face.’
And, according to Perricone, you, too, could look like her. In the same way that you can make sagging, flat pectorals look pert, firm and curved by doing lots of bench presses, you can exercise the muscles of the face to create Angelina-style cheeks.
However, exercising your face muscles effectively requires electro-stimulation – essentially running a micro-current to the facial muscles which causes them to contract, firming the muscles and consequently making them bigger.
‘Using electro-stimulation, I can give anyone this sort of a look,’ says Perricone.
‘And, if someone is slightly lopsided, as many people are, I can balance them out by building up one side of their face more than the other.’
If you can’t wait for a treatment from the man himself (and you’re about as likely to be able to get a highly sought-after appointment with him as you are to find him eating a McDonald’s Happy Meal), he believes that a CACI Ultra (from £75 for 75 minutes, http://www.caci-international.co.uk, 020 8731 5676) salon treatment once a month is a step in the right direction.??If you’re more of a DIY type, you might want to have a look at the Tua Viso (RRP £199, 0845 434 7990), a handheld gadget developed in Italy. It’s not endorsed by Perricone, but it works in a similar way to CACI and has had positive reviews.
    STEP 3: LIGHT THERAPY
The third weapon in Dr Perricone’s antiageing arsenal is light. He’s been waxing lyrical about the benefits of light therapy and its ability to reverse the signs of ageing for years, but his latest trick is to develop a unit for home use.
Light Renewal, a handheld device, has just gone on sale in the U.S. (retailing at around £180), and there are plans to bring it to Britain before the end of the year.??’This light isn’t laser light, it’s red light [much less intense than a laser], at various frequencies, which has been shown to help rejuvenate the structures of the skin,’ he says.
Light therapy: Pure beams of cold light and colours may help regenerate the skins cells
‘Free radicals and inflammation damage the collagen and elastin in the skin, causing it to look saggy and uneven, but the light we use stimulates the fibroblasts to produce more elastin and collagen.
‘This works to thicken the skin and as a result you get rid of fine lines, begin plumping up the skin and see knock-on effects, such as eyelids being lifted and skin losing that crepey look.’
He recommends using the Light Renewal device for 20 minutes a day for four days a week and claims that patients will start to see a visible difference within three to seven weeks.
    STEP 4: TOPICAL PRODUCTS
Lastly, and perhaps most excitingly, Perricone is in the process of bringing a number of creams to the market that he claims will help tone muscles and build subcutaneous fat.
His line already includes products that contain DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol), a naturally occurring substance that is found in human nerve tissue and in certain types of seafood.
When applied topically, it is said to improve muscle tone and diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Set to hit the market next year are new products which Perricone claims will be able to increase the levels of subcutaneous fat in the skin by transporting the necessary nutrients directly to the fat cells, encouraging renewal and growth.
‘We’re waiting to get clearance from the FDA (the U.S. body that regulates the cosmetics industry) to use the active ingredients we want to use, as they have not been used in cosmetics before,’ he says.
‘We’ve done some initial tests on the products and, using ultrasound to measure the levels of subcutaneous fat before and after, we’ve been able to see that it does work in the way that we hoped it would.’

  4. Zen Lill Says:

Sweet pea, thanks for the quick info, I will post it on my blog asap, thanks in advance for giving me a short writing day in Blogsville also, could use the extra time for good purpose.
    - Sweetness

Mischa, I am quite fortunate in this way, I was once a sales person who was driven by cash, cars and trips – bonuses – yipee! Now, I am pleased to be who I am and that is someone who gets regular life strokes in ways I can’t even get into here, money is always nice to have but my life works – and I’m generally happy w/very lightly scattered t-storms hee hee – period.

Mildred, as a mother I feel for you, it would hurt me to lose my daughter’s respect, however, may I pose a Zen Lill q? Try this on: what would happen if you dropped the need to be a good mother? Think on that for a few days. It’s a good exercise for accepting what is (we’re not perfect, we just have offspring).

I would also like to say this, why DID you compromise yourself by doing what you do for so many years? A paycheck? & were you not prepared for your daughter to reject what you so easily embraced (knowing full well it’s a wrong thing to do)?

Sigh, as a daughter, I have little respect for my own mother, she didn’t do the right thing by me when it was important, it is my only source of jealousy in life and I’m almost past that…when another woman says so easily, ‘I want to ask my mom’s opinion’ or ‘my mom and I went out together…’ etc…mine is my mother and I love her for giving me life. I maintain a cordial relationship with her for my daughter’s sake. Maybe you can do some serious repair work by being honest/remorseful with your girl now, it’s worth the try. Don’t wait too long though…these things tend to fester and grow more bad feelings. I wish you the best on this one, I’m sure it feels pretty bad.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  5. Mildred Says:

    Zen Lill

I am a true American. It is my duty to keep America safe for God fearing Americans. My husband served in Vietnam honorably. My daughter used to love her country as much as we do. We used to be so close. It was she that convinced me to give this blog a try about a year ago. I have put up with all the commies who write in against our great country and shut up while they spewed their vile attacks against our President.

I have sent copies to the fBI and the Office of Homeland Security with my complaint that this blog encourages terrorists to spew their hatred of America. I told my daughter that I was going to do it. She laughed and said that Michelle is protected by aliens. Can you believe a girl with a MBA from LSU is such a loon?

I do not feel that I compromised myself. I am doing what I can to help keep America safe for the white people who founded this great country. We build God’s country with our blood and tears. These monkeys have gotten to the place where they think they can occupy the White House. I remind my daughter that it isn’t called the White House for no reason. These people know that they can live in America without trying to overstep themselves.

If I have to choose between my daughter or my God, I choose my God. Jesus is Lord! As long as I breathe niggers, slopes, jews, and non christians will never get by me in the poles. I will do my part to keep America pure.

    Mildred.

  6. Terri Says:

    Mildred,
Oh my God! I can’t believe you said that. Sara Palin rules!!!!! Thanks for tell it like it is. My cousin married a kite and everybody is upset. The bastard changed the spelling of his name so we were not aware that he was a fucking jew.

I understand why the Europeans put them into ovens. The bastards want so bad to be white. They move into our neighborhoods and at like they are white. News Flash you are semites. Fucking camel niggers with a circumcision. It does not matter if you try to marry into the white race until you lose all trace of that kinky hair. We will root you out.

It does not matter if you pretend to hate niggers and wet backs as much as whites do. It does not matter how many people you tell that you are white. You monkeys are not white. You are fucking jews.

You tell them Mildred. Why are you seeking advice from that Zen fool? It is godless people like her who have led your daughter into abandoning her country. I monitor sites like this for my country too. We patriotic whites need to be vigilant.

How I hate to see these mud people mingling with our race at the poles. I sorely wish for the good ole days when they knew their place.

    Terri
