“Just Noticing”: Observations Of A Blogger
Posted by Michelle Moquin on February 26th, 2012
Good morning!
“Just noticing…”
So..I’ve heard through the grapevine from some of you readers who have e-mailed me, that my blog is being touted as not only a women’s blog, but a male bashing blog as well. And my readers are just noticing that the white male seem to receive the most bashing.
Then yesterday Clark commented saying “Michelle’s blog is highly controversial. She is clearly anti male”.
This is my response:
Well…not doubt my blog is highly controversial. I will give you that. And it is a women’s blog. But I will add that evidently you Wayne, aka “Clark“, and many other boys need to grow up…or no more pussy for you for awhile. (That’s a thumbs-up to you Debra.)
I am clearly anti-male? I think you’re lacking in the brain department or just in denial of what goes on in this world. You must be a while male with all the privileges that the color of your skin and the things between your legs gives you. So I guess for the dimwitted, I have to say it again. “No. I love men. I just hate what men do.” Do ya get it? It is your actions that piss me and other women off. Not that fact that you have a dick and balls between your legs. Although on a side note, some of you are definitely lacking “the cymbals” that accompany that “stick”.
So, yes…no doubt there is some male bashing that takes place here. And sometimes there is plenty. And yes, white males seem to get the most. That being said, I just want you to know that I drop the hammer where the nail is. If it doesn’t need fixing it won’t be talked about around here. If the males fix their behavior, I won’t have to nail them to the wall. It’s really that simple. What am I supposed to do, act like it is not happening? Bad behavior and horrific acts of violence are happening every day all over the world. Like I have said before, if you don’t want to be bashed, stop doing atrocious acts of physical bashing that lead to a verbal bashing here.
The men are the one’s in control here, and really it is the white males. Ever since the days of our founding fathers, who created the illusion of equality for all the other people. But that’s all it was; an illusion. Equality was only promised to white males.
So where does that leave our women? Exactly where we are, and in many places it isn’t a pretty place to be. So, you can see where the hammer needs to fall. So, I’ll say it again, until it gets through those thick self-absorbed, uncaring, male brains out there: If you don’t want to be bashed, stop doing atrocious acts of physical bashing that lead to a verbal bashing here.
Done. So…wha’at’s up?
Social Butterfly: I too wish I could’ve joined you! I love the “The Vagina Monologues”. Awhile ago I blogged about Eve Ensler and her City of Joy. So cool what she is doing for women and girls. Thanks too for the link. I will check it out. HOPE you are doing good.
Howie: Yeah.. well you took those words out of my mouth. It pisses me off as well that no one seems to honor my copyright clause. It’s all about the money – people who don’t have a creative bone in their body get greedy. They have nothing to offer in talent, so they steal and use other peoples’ stories whether they feel they are true or not, so they can boost their own ego and come out looking great with a fat check to back it up. Believe me their day will come.
Oh, by the way, if I’m not mistaken I do believe it is your birthday today, yes? HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOWIE! I HOPE your day is grand and you have fun doing whatever makes you happy!
Anonymous: Love it. Thank you so much for sharing! I so look forward to seeing “Miss Representation”, and spreading the word. I am delighted to post the trailer:
Newest Miss Representation Trailer (2011 Sundance Film Festival Official Selection) from Miss Representation on Vimeo.
Jack: Oh…so you’re one of those…who likes to point out the horrific things a woman does, when men do the same and worse a thousand times more than women. The bad things that women do in this world are a drop in the bucket compared to men. And my guess is, and I don’t have stats on this, but I don’t doubt that in the cases of women that kill, it is because they’ve been abused so badly by their men.
Faustine: Me too. Thanks for the kudos.
Now I’m really done. Your turn. Blog me.
Peace out.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,

Thank You Michelle:
I was wondering if you would remember my Birthday and you did. Thanks for remembering.
I get angered by jerks who take credit and probably get paid for posts that come from your blog. Stealing copyrighted material is wrong and illegal.
Like you said: “It pisses me off as well that no one seems to honor my copyright clause. It’s all about the money – people who don’t have a creative bone in their body get greedy. They have nothing to offer in talent, so they steal and use other peoples’ stories whether they feel they are true or not, so they can boost their own ego and come out looking great with a fat check to back it up.”
I will try to have a great day and do something memorable with my friends – especially Al.

Kent; you must be mentally challenged if you wonder why you? Of course it is obvious that some are using (stealing) Howies material, and others are using it for educational purposes.
Howies posts are more like editorials than science fiction.
But you Kent come off as a very obnoxious asshole. Hurry, hurry, hurry, and more, more, more. You have deadlines to meet to finish YOUR plot? A plagiarizer with demands, what audacity and lack of respect.
When did Howies posts become your plot? And why would he give a flying fuck about any deadline you might have?
Honest, no. Stupid, yes, without doubt. And unbelievably selfish.
Kent, Kent, Kent is it all about you?
Al

Michelle; I would like to nominate Kent for the LSOS Club. What do you think? I think he more than qualifies.

Good one Al.
Happy Birthday Howie.
Sandra and Missy, that’s wonderful you were both there too. It was a powerful experience.
Michelle, I figured you had to have blogged about Ensler before, how could you not? I’m sorry that I didn’t see it (I don’t know how to find your older blog stuff).
She’s definitely one of your Wonderful Women of the World.

Happy Birthday, HOWIE! I’m wishing you many more and I do hope that you’ll comment as you please here, I love the information you so willingly share for free, there will always be someone with other financial motives, I hope you’ll ignore them as they deserve to be ignored.

Delicious Good-for-You Dinners to Make in 15 Minutes or Less
Yes, healthy meals bursting with flavor can be made in minutes! The trick is to let others do much of the work by buying prepared sauces and foods that are already chopped or cubed, such as shredded carrots and cubed pineapple.
These recipes have been designed to fit a diabetes-friendly menu, but as the American Diabetes Association points out, this is the way we all should be eating.
Here are a few simple and delicious meals that take only 15 minutes to prepare, all from my new book Fast and Flavorful: Great Diabetes Meals from Market to Table. They all make two servings.
HOT GLAZED TUNA STEAK WITH PECAN SPINACH SALAD
Fresh tuna is glazed with a sweet-and-hot sauce. It’s best to undercook the tuna a little. It will continue to cook in its own heat when removed from the stove.
Hot Glazed Tuna Steak
2½ Tablespoons orange marmalade
½ Tablespoon Dijon mustard
Several drops hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon olive oil
¾ pound fresh tuna steak
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Mix together the marmalade and the mustard. Add several drops of hot pepper sauce. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a medium-sized nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the tuna for two minutes. Turn.
Season the cooked side with salt and freshly ground pepper. Sear the second side for two minutes for a half-inch-thick tuna steak.
For a one-inch-thick tuna steak, reduce the heat and cook two minutes more. Remove the tuna to individual dinner plates.
Add the marmalade mixture to the skillet, and sauté for 30 seconds or until the marmalade melts, scraping up any brown bits in the pan. Spoon the sauce over the tuna.
Preparation time: 10 minutes.
Pecan Spinach Salad
5 cups washed, ready-to-eat baby spinach (about 5 ounces)
2 cups bagged, shredded carrots (about 3 ounces)
½ cup broken unsalted pecans (1 ¾ ounces)
2 Tablespoons reduced-fat vinaigrette dressing
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Place the spinach, carrots and pecans into a salad bowl.
Add the dressing, and toss well. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Preparation time: 5 minutes.
BEEF IN OYSTER SAUCE WITH CHINESE NOODLES
Look for a bottled oyster sauce with about nine calories and 490 milligrams (mg) of sodium per tablespoon.
Also, in most supermarkets, you can buy the green beans trimmed and the steak precut.
Chinese wheat noodles can be found in the produce section of the market.
2 Tablespoons bottled oyster sauce
3 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
2 cups trimmed green beans, cut in half (½ pound)
½ pound bottom round steak, cut into strips (2 inches by ½ inch)
2 Tablespoons broken walnuts
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
¼ pound steamed or fresh Chinese wheat noodles (1¾ cups cooked noodles)
Mix the oyster sauce and water together in a bowl. Set aside.
Heat the sesame oil in a wok or skillet over high heat until just smoking. Add the green beans. Stir-fry for three minutes.
Add the steak, and stir-fry for one minute. Add the oyster sauce and walnuts, and toss for 30 seconds. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Remove the beef and green beans, and set aside.
Bring a large saucepan filled with water to a boil over high heat, and add the noodles.
Boil for one minute, drain and add salt and pepper to taste. Add the noodles to the wok after the beef and vegetables have been removed, and toss for one minute.
Divide the noodles between two dinner plates, and serve the beef and green beans on top.
Preparation time: 15 minutes.
HAWAIIAN CHICKEN WITH PINEAPPLE SALAD
Buy fresh pineapple already cut up in cubes.
Hawaiian Chicken
¼ cup low-salt marinara sauce
2 Tablespoons pineapple juice (from the pineapple cubes container)
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons sugar
Olive oil spray
2 6-ounce boneless, skinless chicken breast cutlets (¼ inch thick)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Mix the marinara sauce, pineapple juice, mustard and sugar together, and set aside.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, and spray with olive oil spray. Sear the chicken for three minutes. Turn.
Add salt and pepper to taste to the cooked side. Sear the second side for three minutes. The chicken is done when a meat thermometer reads 165°F.
Remove the chicken from the heat, and brush the sauce over the cutlets.
Preparation time: 10 minutes.
PINEAPPLE SALAD
1 cup fresh pineapple cubes (if large, cut into bite-size pieces)
4 cups washed, ready-to-eat Romaine lettuce
2 Tablespoons reduced-fat vinaigrette dressing
8 macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
Place the pineapple cubes and lettuce in a salad bowl. Add the dressing. Toss well. Sprinkle the top with macadamia nuts. Serve with the chicken.
Preparation time: 5 minutes.
MIDDLE-EASTERN LAMB WITH SPINACH BROWN RICE
This delightful lamb dish features a Middle-Eastern yogurt sauce.
Middle-Eastern Lamb
½ cup plain, nonfat yogurt
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon ground cumin
¼ cup peeled, diced cucumber
Olive oil spray
½ pound lamb cubes, cut from the leg into ½-inch pieces
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Mix the yogurt, garlic, cumin and cucumber together, and set aside.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Spray with olive oil spray. Add the lamb to the skillet. Sauté for two minutes, turning to brown on all sides. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Remove the lamb to two dinner plates, and spoon sauce on top.
Preparation time: 10 minutes.
SPINACH BROWN RICE
1 package microwaveable brown rice (for 1½ cups rice)
5 cups washed, ready-to-eat spinach
2 teaspoons olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Microwave the rice according to package instructions. Measure 1½ cups cooked rice into a bowl. Reserve the remaining rice for another meal.
Add the spinach to the warm rice, and toss well. Add the olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. Toss again.
Preparation time: 5 minutes.

WHOA, don’t put me in the LSOS Club. I’m a regular and I didn’t lie at least not to the blog.
C’om everyone here knows that if I don’t tap the great stuff Howie writes, someone else will. At least I keep it pure.
Actually, I’m sitting on the proverbial needles waiting on the next installment. I got the Green Light to lead on a project I proposed.
All I need now is for Howie to finish his latest narrative. Oh, and let me wish you a very Happy albeit belated Birthday.
It is sincerely wished.

Michelle, It is as Kent said, a fact of life. Maybe in a perfect wold this wouldn’t happen, but, as you said, it’s a man’s world and we men are not perfect.
Greg.
PS: Let’s not be late with that next installment Howie. You got fans with deadlines.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY and a sincere wish for you to have many, many more.

Howie, I wouldn’t get too bothered by the conduct of the lowlife, if I were you.
It is a needless waste of raising your blood pressure. Smile and keep the faith. As Michelle said they will get theirs one day, in this life or the next.
Sorry, I couldn’t say it yesterday, but the feelings is honest. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!

Memory Aid
Instead of trying to remember a specific thing that you have to do—such as repaying money borrowed from a coworker—visualize a scene in which you actually are doing it.
Example: Imagine taking the money out of your pocket or purse and handing it to the coworker at a specific location, such as the break room.
Create the visualization before going to sleep—your brain will strengthen the image overnight, and you will be more likely to do the task the next day.

Michelle, I love your blog. Here in Athens, it has been exceptionally difficult because of the money crisis. If it was not for your blog, I would have taken everyone of my anti-depressants and passed away to the other side.
But, honestly, I can hardly wait for the next issue. Thanks for saving a Girlz life.

Baby, I’m looking bad here. I apologize to all for my misspeak. I never intended to offend. I know that most of the time we, men refuse to see the other side of an issue.
And it is not about the p***y. Of course, I love the incredible sex we have, but I truly realize that I have been selfish in my thinking, and reaction.
My mother and two sisters called me and asked if that was me. This blog is dangerous!!! I lied and said, of course not.
Now, I am owning up to that too. Sorry I let so many of you down, But especially you Debra.
Michelle, please except my apology. You certainly nailed it when you said that men cause a lot of grief for most of the inhabitants on this planet, vegetation and natural resources alike.
When our feelings get hurt, we are slow to recognize that the criticism that brought on the hurt, may be deserved.
We usually only hear the shrillness of the critical or angry words, not the hurt behind their uttering.
Hence, we react only from our own perspective, and never venture to examine our actions that caused the outburst of angst.
I took that journey. It was not a pleasant one.

Remember Rick Santorum’s big bucks backer who got nostalgic saying women used to hold an aspirin between their knees for birth control?
Foster Friess isn’t just incredibly clueless or the owner of an awful sense of humor. He’s also taking out his checkbook to spend mounds of cash to paint the Senate red, and he’s not alone.
Karl Rove is spending $120 million. Friess plans to target 10 states. Flip four, and Republicans take charge. We wouldn’t have a firewall to stop their dangerous agenda. Finding an aspirin would be the least of our worries.
Thanks to the Citizens United ruling, Foster Friess, Karl Rove and other top Republicans can spend freely in support of candidates. American Crossroads and our Republican Senate counterparts are both running attack ads right now.
And we know what these Republicans want. A nation where it’s hard to get preventative care, but easy to lose your health coverage. Where we put the rights of big polluters above the rights of women.
The Republicans have Foster Friess. But we have something far more powerful – half a million passionate people who won’t rest until we move this nation forward. More than 90% of gifts to the DSCC come from grassroots donors.

Steve, thank you.
Wayne/Clark, good for you for coming on here to say what you did. I think almost everyone knows that when anger is expressed it’s usually hurt in disguise, it’s so much easier to just say I’m PO’d rather than say out loud, ‘your words and actions sting my whole gender and I wish you could spend a month as a female and get that’.
& in true ZL form I would also say that I am vehemently opposed with using sex as a reward/withholding tool (pun unintended though funny) in my opinion that objectifies me and my sweet spot, and besides, why would i forgo my own pleasure bc my man is acting like an ass temporarily (if he’s of permanent ass stature, he won’t be lying next to me anyway).
There are better methods of expressing angst though there’s absolutely nothing more communicative than some angry sex, he’ll understand you loud and clear and his receptors for listening are open wide in the post-coital state. Think Mata Hara tapping for info or in this case, imparting some female wisdom : ) Just my two and I don’t expect anyone to agree with me and I imagine it will ignite a few of you, and you will each do what you do and I will do as I do. So be it…that’s the beauty of being unique humans, we get to think/act and react differently from each other.
…as far as male bashing, well, there is some of that here though it gets annoying to have to preface everything you say with ‘….not all men but some/most…’ depending on the statement. I’d rather bash the doctrine that allows them to believe they’re just upholding some law handed down from on high, there I will definitely throw down the BS card.
And on that note, I’m so happy ‘Saving Faces’ won best documentary last night. Men should be REQUIRED to watch this movie, then maybe you’d understand what Mischa’s points are even better.
Luv, Zen Lill
February 27th, 2012 at 7:58 am
Sorry Zen Lill I must differ with you on this one. Fucking someone to me is much different that sharing the love. That being the case I could not make love to my man if we were in that place.
Men withhold intimacy in retaliation for their hurt feelings in many ways. They become curt and distant.
I see no downside to letting the significant other in your life know that you are not predisposed to laying down and spreading your legs for his enjoyment if he is going to be an asshole to you.
When I make love, as opposed to just fucking for pleasure, my mind, with all the emotions and feelings I have about my partner come with it, is involved.
I couldn’t experience those feelings if I was angry with him, and I certainly wouldn’t assume he would expect me to. We both know how to masturbate.
