The Family That BUSHwhacked America (Part 2)

Good morning!

As promised…

The Family That BUSHwhacked America

Neil

Jeb

George Snr

Marvin

 George Jnr.

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones you have to focus on” – GW Bush

“You have to look at the entire Bush Family in this context — as if the family ran a corporation called ‘Frauds-R-Us,’

George Jr.’s specialty was insurance and security fraud.

Jeb’s specialty was oil and gas fraud.

Neil’s specialty was real estate fraud.

Prescott’s specialty was banking fraud.

And George Sr.’s specialty? All of the above.” – Lt. Cmdr. Al Martin, US Navy,(Ret)

“While opportunism isn’t new in U.S. politics, never did so many in one family extract so many dollars from taxpayers as when George Bush senior was president a decade ago” – David E. Scheim, author of Contract on America.

“What you’ve got with Bush [George senior] is absolutely the largest number of siblings and children involved in what looks like a never-ending hustle.” – Republican pundit Kevin Philips

“Texas businessmen [are] not crooks, “they just have an over-developed sense of the extenuating circumstance.”" – Molly Ivins

Just too many jinks, links

Updated – 05/12/03: I started this second part with the objective of extending the dossier on the Bush Gang, but I quickly realised that short of writing a (very long) book, I’d never be able to encapsulate all of it in the easy-to-digest form of an essay, hence the external pages, so that if you want to pursue a particular character or company, all you need do is click on a particular link. You’ll find that many of the names and companies are cross-linked, pointing to the intricate network of associates that the Bush clan have built up over the years. No doubt if one were to do the same thing with Rockefeller, you’d end up with the same rats nest of associations (pun intended).

Gangster Capitalism
And in any case, the critical issue is not so much the individual goings-on of these ne’er do wells, but that they are typical of a system, which since its foundation (one built on slavery, genocide, continental land theft and gangster capitalism) has utterly corrupt institutions which it nevertheless claims make it the bastion of the ‘free world’! As the saying goes, they have ‘no shame’.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil
The other really important question to ask is how can one family which has so many skeletons in the family closet, get away with such dirty dealings and over such a long period of time without being called to task? It’s as if the mass media goes deaf, dumb and blind when the name Bush comes up. For no matter what your politics are, left, right or indifferent, a family which has its fingers in so many dirty dealings has surely got to get you thinking about exactly what kind of country it is you live in (if you’re an American) and what kind of world is it that’s dominated by a country with a media (not to mention a legal system) that’s quite content not to challenge its president or his lying, thiefing family and their tenticular network of associations which includes: the Mafia, the Chinese Communist Party, Japanese Triads, the Vatican, Central American drug smugglers and gun runners, international arms dealers, the Ayotollah Khomeini (RIP), Cuban-American terrorists, money laundering, illegal arms sales, countless conflicts of interests, nepotism, coverups, tax avoidance, SEC fiddles and banking scams? A veritable ‘school for scoundrels’.

The fact that this litany of evil is effectively left unscrutinised and unquestioned by the dominant media, or, on the few occasions when it is mentioned, it’s only ‘in passing’, reveals the cynical, opportunistic attitude toward not only the concept of access to information, but acting on it. The system also makes a complete mockery of the so-called moral approach used by the leaders of the ‘free world’ when they accuse others of the same behaviour. Is it any wonder that we have populations who have ‘dropped out’ of the political process. Where is the accountability? Where indeed?

It’s a shell game
In recent years the problem has been excerbated by the ‘gutting’ of the government through wholesale deregulation and privatisation, which has enabled those with the ‘right’ connections to gain access to vast gobs of money in the form of subsidies and lucrative contracts (eg Marvin Bush’s Ignite corporation, or the Kuwaiti Harken Oil deals, Choicepoint’s Homeland Security contracts and the software company it uses, Sybase Inc which has Bush family connections). The effect has been to turn various and sundry government agencies into hollow shells. Companies can then effectively write themselves blank cheques or simply ignore the toothless edicts issued by the regulators (eg the SEC over the Silverado S&L scandal).

Assault on Liberty
The assault on the rights of citizens, won at great cost and over generations of struggle, has since the 1970s, been steadily eroded to the point that we are now left with a façade of the original, a cardboard mockup that has all the appearances democracy, civil rights and so forth but virtually no substance. Our cynical leaders would have us believe that,

“Failure to vote, as Britain’s Chancellor remarked after the last UK election,
is the mark of the satisfied citizen.”
Perry Anderson

Satisfied or cynical? Or perhaps fatalistic about a system which has systematically encouraged its citizens to disenfranchise themselves?

Ultimately of course, it exposes the real nature of the political class and who it really serves – the rich and powerful and their utter disdain for those without any real power. With ‘elections’ being reduced to no more than tokenised democracy (only about a quarter of the electorate actually bother to vote in US national elections and a fraction more in the UK), it’s no surprise that firstly, there is no genuine representation ‘of the people, for the people, by the people’, but just as importantly, the total lack of representation or accountability encourages an arrogance and bravado on the part of the power elite that they can get away with anything, because they we let them (and they do)!

The 4th Estate – Absentee Landlords
A comparable process is at work in the ‘4th Estate’ who have reduced journalism (when they bother to actually cover the real stories) to another hollow shell, where the act of merely reporting is now considered sufficient to fulfill their obligations as ‘watchdogs’ of the nation’s affairs. The thought of actually leading with a story, and pursuing it, day after day, until someone actually takes notice and says, ‘enough is enough’ is simply not permitted because the same corporations that own the media are also part and parcel of the same power elite that’s busy ripping off the nation and holding the world to ransom.

Par for the Course
Forget ‘Dynasty’, although maybe they got the idea for the programme from the Bush posse. Staggering, is all I can say about the Bush family saga. Yet actually it’s par for the course as they say and not at all exceptional in the annals of the US power elite. The history of US capitalism is made up of family dynasties of one kind or another, from the robber barons of the Du Ponts, Mellons, Morgans, Rockefellers, Carnegies and Kennedys, through to the newcomers like Enron, Worldcom, Halliburton, Bechtel, Harken, Carlyle and so forth. And, like the landed aristocracies of England, they marry into each other’s families, go to the same schools and universities, sit on each other’s corporate boards and invest in each other’s business dealings. Importantly, they watch each other’s backs and for obvious reasons.

Readers: Can you believe that first quote from GW Bush? Kind of says it all doesn’t it? That’s just a little tidbit of the big picture. Intrigued? Interested to learn more? Tomorrow, you can look forward to reading more of the article about the Bush family and their playmates…aptly called “The Actors”.  And yes, mentioned above, and as Anonz  stated, the Vatican is one of them.

Peace out.

Nice work, Michelle. I know how hard you have worked on this and it shows! It is quite clear that anyone who is not a billionaire and votes a GOP ticket, and especially a woman, is an idiot.

I appreciate the nod, Anonz, regarding my frustration with Geithner. He is a criminal that Obama wanted by his side. Paulson’s rib. He was, as the old adage, keep your enemies close. TG’s time is coming up, and he is young enough to become a fall guy for the old, white, megawealth, elite shits that really run things. He might just become a pacifier for the frustrated american sheople and a means to appease without changing much.

Obama has one year to maintain and to ride the momentum of Occupy Wall Street. If he were to begin to use the fuel of the people, their emotions and ideas and help to open their eyes that much farther, Geithner will be tarred and feathered by spring, and Obama wouldn’t have to do anything except to accept his resignation. I’m waiting for Paulson and his to fall, as well. I don’t think Americans have it in them to prosecute. There is too much complacency even in such a shitty economy. Hence, the quote Michelle gave us from Bush “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones you have to focus on” – GW Bush

Misch, I’m so glad you followed the rabbit hole of info this far, thanks, I did it at one point but the info is so freaking disturbing and then my computer crashed and I lost all the saved links anyway. I appreciate reading it all here again…it’s important to know. I’m going to research that Vatican part just for the heck of it bc I remember reading a bit about it back then and thinking it was just as crazy as the mind control rabbit hole info and both are in force, very much so…keep up the excellent work ; ) and so there it is…vote Rethug and you get what you get (and deserve) though that doesn’t help the rest of us, so please keeping reading. How could you not, this place is too interesting to not be a part of it.

Welcome back, Anonz : ) and Al…glad you’ve got yourself a computer and I accept your apology bwahaha…

By the way, you gave yourself away in recent weeks convos, you’ve been reading here for years, good, just don’t waste your energy the way you have been (lately). I don’t. I’m clear. Oh, and that’s a suggestion not a formal request or demand.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  4. Health info Says:

BE ON THE ALERT FOR OVARIAN CANCER

The pink ribbons we see everywhere this month make it seem like breast cancer is a woman’s worst nightmare. But, in fact, we know that there is another even more insidious cancer to fear — ovarian cancer.

It’s true that this type of cancer is rarer, but it can be more lethal and harder to detect, in part because its symptoms are commonplace and dismayingly vague, including abdominal bloating, digestive difficulties and fatigue.

While not as public, researchers are working hard on understanding and beating ovarian cancer, and there is news — some good, some bad.

    SCREENING TESTS DON’T DELIVER

The disappointing results are now in from a National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health study that began in 1993, evaluating the effectiveness of early screening for ovarian cancer using a combination of ultrasound imaging and a blood test looking for the presence of CA125 (a protein associated with the cancer).

The study split 80,000 women ages 55 to 74 into two groups — one group was screened yearly from 1993 to 2001, and the other group was not. It then followed the women until 2010.

The findings: The number of women in each group who developed ovarian cancer and the deaths from it were nearly identical — in both groups, more than three-quarters of the diagnoses were at stage III or IV.

The screenings arguably even made matters worse, since they also yielded 3,000 false-positives, leading 1,000 of those women to have surgery to remove ovaries that were ultimately found to be cancer-free.

    HARD TO DETECT

I called Alexi Wright, MD, medical oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and an expert on this subject, for help putting this information in perspective.

She explained that there are several reasons why this disease is so hard to detect, including a few that are actually quite basic…

A typical early-stage ovarian cancer tumor is too small to be picked up with screening technology currently available.

The tumor is somewhat diffuse. Unlike most other cancers that start out contained in an organ such as the uterus, liver or lungs, ovarian cancer spreads over organs like a thin film or may be scattered all over the abdomen like grains of rice.

It grows really fast. Once this cancer develops to an advanced stage, its assault is incredibly rapid. “The size of the cancer doubles roughly every two months,” Dr. Wright told me.

Then, as far as the blood test goes, researchers initially believed that testing for the presence of higher-than-normal levels of CA125 would reliably reveal ovarian cancer at an earlier stage but, alas, this didn’t prove to be true.

It turned out to be a “limited screening test,” Dr. Wright told me, because researchers have since learned that ovarian cancer isn’t the only problem that causes a high level of CA125 —

there are lots of other things that raise the level, too, including inflammation in the abdomen, which could also be caused by diverticulitis, pelvic inflammatory disease and even pregnancy and menstruation.

This test is now sometimes used to monitor treatment of ovarian cancer but, Dr. Wright told me, its value in that context is being questioned as well.

    A BRIGHTER NOTE

Now for some good news… scientists have also just announced a brand new genetic finding that offers some hope.

In addition to the BRCA genes that increase a woman’s risk for both breast and ovarian cancer, there is a gene called RAD51D that runs in a small number of families and creates ovarian cancer susceptibility.

Knowing this may help doctors create new and better treatment options.

In addition, Dr. Wright told me that there has been considerable improvement in the treatments we already have.

With more than a dozen different chemotherapy medicines now available, doctors can determine the genetic defect causing the disease in each patient and then use the best available drug to kill cancer cells more precisely without harming as many healthy ones.

Ultimately, though, it remains true that the best advice any woman can be given is to have a high index of suspicion when it comes to symptoms of ovarian cancer, since finding it early can make the difference between life and death.

In women whose cancers are diagnosed at the earliest possible stage (1A), the five-year survival rate is 87%, whereas in women whose cancers are advanced (stage IV), that number plummets to just 11%. Relatively early symptoms of ovarian cancer may include bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, gas, getting full easily when eating, abdominal swelling, urinary frequency and unexplained weight gain.

If you have any of these symptoms, particularly for more than a few weeks, Dr. Wright urges you to visit your gynecologist for an ultrasound and/or CT scan immediately.

If you think that the doctor isn’t hearing your concerns, speak up and insist on being paid attention to… or consider getting a second opinion.

  7. Laura Says:

The Mitt Romney who’s running for the Republican presidential nomination has said he would sign legislation to end Medicare as we know it, slash Social Security, and repeal health care reform as one of his first acts in office.

But over the years, Mitt Romney has supported expanding access to health care, protecting a woman’s right to choose, and investing in infrastructure — just like the kind in the Recovery Act that brought us back from the brink of a depression.

It’s one thing for a politician’s positions to evolve over time. It’s another to flip back and forth over the course of a 20-year political career based on what office you’re running for and where.

And that’s exactly what Romney has shown: He has no core convictions or values. With him, it’s all just politics.

It makes you wonder — which Mitt would we get in the White House?

And which Mitt would we be relying on to make decisions on behalf of millions of Americans, during a crisis, or as commander in chief?

So we took a hard look at his record, everywhere he’s stood on the issues, and put it all together in the form of a new site, WhichMitt.com.

We can’t predict exactly how Mitt would govern as president, but you can take the quiz to test how well you know his track record to get an idea — and perhaps learn a little more about the man some are calling the Republican front-runner.

    Which Mitt do you know?

    The answer may surprise you:

Michelle, it seems that some people are catching on to Fox News lies.
This was in HP – Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera faced a hostile crowd over the weekend when he went to Lower Manhattan to report on the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Rivera had been to the encampment the week before, but this time his report was met with an endless chant of “Fox News lies!” Rivera referred to the “vitriol” he seemed to be facing before talking to Tavis Smiley and Cornel West about the protests.

  9. Susan Says:

Damn I was going to post that story Grace. Oh well here is the link that shows the protesters singing Fox News lies.

Fluoride is a toxic industrial waste product, which may also be contaminated with lead, arsenic, radionucleotides, aluminum and other industrial contaminants.

The fluoride added to municipal water supplies is not pharmaceutical grade.

Twenty-three studies from four countries indicate that even moderate exposure to fluoride lowers IQ.

The daily dose of fluoride recommended by the American Dental Association results in the same level of fluoride in your blood shown to cause an 8-point drop in IQ.

Poison control should be called if you swallow a quarter milligram of fluoride from toothpaste. Meanwhile just ONE glass of water can contain this amount of fluoride.

To remain within “safe” limits, you’d have to use such a small amount of fluoridated toothpaste that one tube would last you several years.

  12. Inga Says:

Al, I missed hearing from you. Now the gangs all here again.

  13. Raina Says:

I have been keeping up with american politics for years. But this year is the strangest. Two american candidates for president are appealing to their party’s voters by denouncing the other candidate for doing things for those who need it most.

This was used to knock Mitt Romney :
“Even the richest man can’t buy back his past,” intoned a web video that Texas Gov. Rick Perry rolled out to assail chief rival Mitt Romney’s personal wealth and the Massachusetts health care overhaul that Romney signed into law. “America’s most damaging prescription: RomneyCare,” the video said.
and this was used to knock Rick Perry:
Romney said that if you’re an undocumented immigrant “in Texas and you’ve lived there for three years, you can go to college there and get a $100,000 break on your tuition.”

It seems that the supporters of this party are only for the wealthy and are not interested in seeing that others have health care in america. I think it say more about who the voters are than it does about the candidates.
    Raina

  14. Robert Says:

Great follow up Michelle. I think this article about what one of the Supreme Court Justices not on the right’s payroll who was on the bench at the time of the infamous decision of that scoundrel Scalia adds to the deviousness and criminal influence of that family.
    ======================

Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens writes in his new memoir, Five Chiefs, that the George W. Bush campaign’s 2000 appeal to the United States Supreme Court over the Florida recount was “frivolous” and never should have been granted.

He recalls bumping into Justice Stephen Breyer at a Christmas party and the two having a brief conversation about the Bush application to halt the recount by issuing a stay. “We agreed that the application was frivolous,” he writes. “To secure a stay, a litigant must show that one is necessary to prevent a legally cognizable irreparable injury. Bush’s attorneys had failed to make any such showing.”

By a five-to-four vote, the court granted the stay. “What I still regard as a frivolous stay application kept the court extremely busy for four days,” he writes. He adds that no justice has ever cited the opinions that provided the basis for their ruling.

Indeed, the court — unusually — limited its decision “to the present circumstances,” meaning that it did not want it to become a precedent.

HuffPost’s Mike Sacks recently interviewed the 91-year-old former justice on his views on the death penalty and the Citizens United ruling just before the memoir was published.

Knowledge is power Zen Lill. If you were privy to what Michelle is publishing then it would have aided all of us if you had shared it.

BRAVO to you Michelle for showing the courage to speak and enlighten the rest of us.

    Robert

  15. Jerry Says:

Scalia and the other 4 republican appointees that decided for that stay never cited the opinions that provided the basis for their ruling because there was no legal basis for their ruling.

That BAPFF (bought and paid for five) were serving their masters on the right.

    Jerry.
