Goodbye Whitney Houston
Posted by Michelle Moquin on February 12th, 2012
Good morning.
I was so sad last night when I heard of the death of Whitney Houston. Like all of you, I loved her music…her voice. She was so talented…and she will be so missed.
One of my favorites of Ms. Houston:
Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You Live Concert Best Show Divas 99
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Readers: Just hearing this song brings tears to my eyes. I wish her Peace & Love wherever she happens to be.
Pearl: Thank you. May Norma Merrick Sklarek rest in peace as well.
Al: So sorry. I don’t know how I missed that one. I wend back and you are correct – you nominated him and I missed it. Are you sure you want to recall his nomination? I still think he is a LSOS and deserves membership. Should we take a poll? I can’t imagine that I/we(?) are the only ones that think he is a LSOS. Let’s see what the other readers think. But in my opinion, you were right on with your first opinion of him.
Blog me.
Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.
Gratefully your blog host,

I want to comment about the man with perfect hair who is a Presidential candidate — Mitt Romney. The man is a self-professed Mormon. He does not deny his affiliation with this Cult, although mainstream religions such as Christianity and most of its factions do not consider the Church of Latter Day Saints as a Real Religion. It is run more like a Cult which controls a member’s every decision, action and lifestyle.
How can America have its Commander in Chief worship in a cult which is striving to reach acceptance as a Major Religion? As far as I can see, it is a Cult — even with a large number of worshippers and money — nevertheless, a cult.
Mormons break fundamental laws of Christianity and morality such as monogamy. Christianity and most religions do not condone polygamy nor the Cult which calls itself Mormon, or the Church of Latter day Saints as a religion.
How can anyone trust this man with the power of Presidency of this great nation?
A cult is disguised as a religion but differs from one in that it is forced upon the members and they can not leave once they become a member. The enforcement of membership is either by shunning the member who leaves. It becomes a cult when all remaining members are forced, ordered, or ordained to shun the member(s) who wish to leave or who have left.
We need a level-headed President who follows the beliefs of the majority of Americans — Not some cult which promises such things as Men (and only Men) marrying as many Women as possible and thus receiving a Planet of his own to populate with his spawn. This is a fact. They really believe this nonsense. So does Mitt Romney.
This is insane thinking and I would prefer my President to worship in any way excluding the so called Church of Latter Day Saints and their strange ways.
Romney has promised us that if elected President, no Mormon policy will ever exert influence on his decisions. That is nonsense. His cult/religion has controlled his life since the age of 12 and every action he has taken relies on it. I for one, do not want a man with this all-encompassing religion making world influencing decisions or representing America. He was raised not to be like the average American, but to be different — to be a Mormon in every facet of his life.
What does it mean to be president if you believe you are in this world but not part of it? How would it affect his decisions?
What do his beliefs do to the empowerment of Women? It sets them back hundreds of years to needy sheep-like people who cannot think for themselves but must obey their ‘Husbands’ every whim, including his marriage to multiple wives with smiles on their faces because they are doing God’s work.
Anyone who considers Women and OTWs as second class, hopefully will not be my President.
I just wanted to mention a few things about Mr. Romney which everyone should understand. He is not presidential material. His entire belief structure apposes what a president should do naturally in his position. Please do not allow the Media to make Mitt Romneys religion a minor issue. It is important to understand that this man cannot be a President of the united States of America. His religious beliefs conflict with all he must do to carry out his job.
P.S. Goodbye Whitney Houston

This song and these words, written by Dolly Parton, I find, for me, is the best song that Whitney did. And this song brings out the unconditional aspect of pure love that should allow one to feel comfortable in whatever happens in a relationship that all will be okay.

Al, I would not be so quick to remove Santorum from the LSOS Club. Your analysis is spot on. I wish it had occurred to me.
I have been saying for years that there was something not quite right about my family’s love for the death penalty. Every time I brought it up I was accused of being a bleeding heart liberal so I just shut up.
But when I read your post yesterday it hit me . You had said what was in my head that I couldn’t get to.
The idea that one could be so against an abortion because he is claiming to be against taking an “innocent” life but at the same time be wiling to put a possible “innocent” like to death for a miscarriage of justice is without logic unless you factor in hypocrisy.
My hat’s off to you Al. I brought up that topic against Rick at the family discussion. You could hear the proverbial pin drop.
Most were aware that it was a huge part of their logic. The hypocrites silently left the den.
Oscar.

Hi Michelle; When I first saw that Santorum was not on your list, I decided to take another look at that video. I had some second thoughts. I think everyone running with the GOP is a LSOS anyway.
I say to let the nomination ride. He does qualify for membership.

The Right Way to Test-Drive a New Car
You might spend 1,000 hours or more behind the wheel of your next new car. Choose the wrong car, and those hours could be uncomfortable and/or unsafe.
Yet most shoppers make this important purchase after test-driving the car for just 10 minutes.
How to get test-drives right…
BEFORE THE TEST-DRIVE
Call the dealership to ask…
When is the best time for me to take an extended test-drive? It is very important to spend enough time in the vehicle—at least 20 minutes and preferably longer—to fully address all your concerns and questions.
Can I test-drive the exact car that I’m interested in, with the same engine, transmission and options?
Dealerships typically designate just a few examples of each model for test-drives to avoid running up the odometers on other cars. But seemingly minor variations can make a big difference.
Example: If you intend to buy a car with a sunroof, test-drive one with a sunroof. Sunroofs often reduce headroom, and some sunroofs create more noise than others when open.
WHEN YOU GET IN THE CAR
Before you start the engine…
Adjust the position of the driver’s seat precisely. Make sure that there is a driving position that you find very comfortable.
Check whether the knobs, dials and cup holders are within easy reach. This seems minor, but it’s dangerous and annoying to have to lean to reach such things while driving.
Try out the backseat, particularly if you frequently have three or more adults or teens as passengers.
Load any large items you often travel with into the trunk or hatch. For example, if someone in your household requires a wheelchair, walker or stroller, make sure this item fits without much struggle.
DURING THE TEST-DRIVE
Most drivers do little on test-drives beyond confirming that the ride quality, acceleration and handling are at least minimally acceptable based on personal preferences.
But you can—and should—do much more…
Choose a route that tests the car under various conditions, including highway acceleration, bumpy roads, sudden stops, parallel parking, backing out of a space in a crowded parking lot and any other conditions that you normally drive in.
Ask the salesman to stop talking so that you can focus on the drive. There will be time for talk later.
Check the blind spots. Change lanes on the highway…make a right turn at an intersection where there are pedestrians. Does this feel comfortable…or are there worrisome blind spots?
Test the seat heaters. There is great variation from vehicle to vehicle on how warm the seats get.
Listen for annoying noises, including whistling wind. If you find a noise annoying on a short test-drive, it will drive you nuts when you own the car.
Let everyone in the family who is going to drive the car take a turn behind the wheel on the test-drive.
Too often one family member takes charge of the car-buying decision, leaving the others to drive a car that is not well-suited to them.

I am a republican. I don’t often read much on this blog but I do appreciate your opinions. You have demonstrated the kind of approach to a subject that I find honest and through.
I am still against Obama being president but I now will NOT vote in the election if Romney is the party’s choice. I as a christen could not vote for such a person as you described.
Thanks for helping me to make up my mind.

Another reason the mortgage companies got to screw us.
===============
LOS ANGELES — Documents detail the terms of a discounted mortgage loan received by U.S. Rep. Howard McKeon from the now-defunct Countrywide Financial Corp. under a VIP program, according to a published report.
The newspaper cites financial disclosures and bankruptcy filings that show the Southern California Republican saw his income plummet in the years before refinancing his Stevenson Ranch home. In spite of his limited cash flow, McKeon received a favorable rate and wasn’t required to produce documentation proving he could repay the mortgage.
The terms were ordered by Countrywide chief executive Angelo Mozilo, according to documents subpoenaed for a House inquiry.

I hope Obama’s new legal group goes after these crooks tool

Howie, that was an excellent analysis of Romney. It should be the talking points of the Democrat’s platform.
You are more than just the man of all things alien. You are an excellent pundit for this blog.

Howie:
I agree. I hope the media will pay more attention to the cult you explained so clearly.

The republicans are playing politics with the lives of the people of Syria. They know that Obama has a plan to help and McCain is using his inside knowledge to undermine that effort.
He is making public statements to give hints to Assad that the US maybe planning a military move against him.

Putting Out the Chili Pepper Fire
Q: At a restaurant, I unknowingly ate a hot chili pepper—and instantly, my mouth felt like it was aflame! If this happens again, what can I do to halt the burning pain as quickly as possible?
A: Capsaicin, the active ingredient in that chili pepper you ate, is a notoriously potent stimulus for pain, as you clearly found out.
But it is interesting to note that in the concentrations found in common chili peppers, capsaicin merely stimulates the nerve fibers that transmit pain signals without doing any actual damage to tissues.
This knowledge may help you feel better psychologically, if not physically, when you experience that intense chili-induced burning sensation.
The pain caused by capsaicin exposure subsides on its own within five to 15 minutes, depending on the specific type and size of the hot pepper you ate.
Because capsaicin is oil-based, drinking water will not hasten relief. To help dissolve the oily substance, you are better off swishing and then swallowing mouthfuls of a fat-based liquid, such as milk.
(You could swish and spit instead of swallowing, but that would not be very polite in a restaurant!)
A cold drink works better than a hot one because cold diminishes the firing of the pain fibers.
In addition, try taking some bites of a sweet food—the burn of chili peppers will be inhibited by the sweetness.

The republicans are trying to bring about another debt ceiling crisis. It seems they don’t want to pay for the massive debt they racked up under Bush.
Pearl
February 13th, 2012 at 7:45 am
well the republicans plan to attack obama on the economy tanked, then the birth control issue tanked…so plan c is to go after the debt ceiling issue.
February 13th, 2012 at 7:48 am
Absurd. The economy is improving, the President’s numbers are rising and the GOP is in a panic that their cynical and nihilistic prescription for regaining power isn’t working (don’t let the President do anything, then blame him for not getting anything done).
So, the payroll tax cut and the debt ceiling…the last two shells in their economic assault cannon…
And for the uninformed posting here, the Debt Ceiling DOES NOT ADD DEBT. Raising it is merely the Congress approving payment for those things which they’ve already enacted.
Not raising it is akin to buying a house and then saying, “Well, we’ve decided not to pay the mortgage.”
February 13th, 2012 at 8:29 am
I am watching Obama’s speech. It is very good so far. Now we await the bullshit from the republican response.

Michelle, I warned Israel’s foreign embassy that I had heard that they would be attacked. I hope it has helped.
Howie, you have given me new understanding of the situation between what haters say and what is right.
A while ago arabs blew up an Israel vehicle. I wish I had had some info on that. I would have informed them.
