Tuesday Talk: Romney
Posted by Michelle Moquin on May 8th, 2012
Good morning!
Once again the republicans are ruthless when it comes to wanting to win this election at all cost, and Romney is no different. Romney could care less about anything else but making it into the White House, doing and saying whatever it takes to get there.
In the position of the President of the United States, we hold that person in high regard as someone we can count on and trust. Romney has proven time and time again he isn’t a leader and he isn’t capable. As has been stated by many, “Whichever direction will garner him votes, that is the way he will go”. So yes…this is a man who is not grounded at all, and the only thing he has mastered is “flip flopping” and being “socially inept”.
Here is the latest of his ineptness in handling a statement that should’ve been addressed. During a town hall event, a crazy woman makes a ridiculous statement about Obama, and how he should be tried for treason. Romney doesn’t even correct the audience member, which makes it look like he agrees with her. Then later states: “I don’t correct all of the questions that get asked of me,” he said. “Obviously I don’t agree that he should be tried.” He not only doesn’t know how to act like a leader by staying silent, but he obviously doesn’t know the difference between a “statement” and a “question”.
Here’s the write:
Barack Obama Accused Of Treason At Mitt Romney Town Hall (VIDEO)
An awkward moment occurred at Mitt Romney’s town hall event in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday when an audience member, in the process of asking him a question, asserted that President Barack Obama should be tried for treason. Romney remained silent during the question-and-answer session, only to say that he “of course” did not agree with the sentiment while greeting voters after the event.
The incident nevertheless illustrated what seems likely to be a tricky proposition for Romney as the general election season progresses: balancing the anti-Obama sentiments of the party’s base with the need to maintain a civil level of discourse.
“We have a president right now that is operating outside the structure of our Constitution,” the audience member said to applause. “And I want to know — yeah, I do agree he should be tried for treason — but I want to know what you would be able to do to restore balance between the three branches of government and what you are going to be able to do to restore our Constitution in this country.”
Romney didn’t correct the woman, choosing instead to address the question she posed.
“Well, as I’m sure you do, I happen to believe the Constitution was not just brilliant but probably inspired. I happen to believe the same thing about the Declaration of Independence,” said Romney. “I would respect the different branches of government if I am fortunate enough to become president.”
“I would reserve the right as president to put in place executive orders,” Romney added. “I would put in place … an executive order that grants a waiver from Obamacare to all 50 states.”
Shortly after the event, Romney appeared on CNN, where he was asked about the incident. “I don’t correct all of the questions that get asked of me,” he said. “Obviously I don’t agree that he should be tried.”
Indeed, it’s difficult to declare at what point Romney is obligated to correct or push back against a member of the crowd. But the whole episode brought to mind the infamous 2008 campaign event when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) corrected an audience member who asserted her belief that then-Sen. Obama was a Muslim. By not doing the same as McCain, Romney opened himself up to criticism.
“We saw what a weak leader Romney was in the whole [Richard] Grenell mess,” DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said, in reference to the openly gay foreign policy spokesman who left the Romney campaign last week. “Not surprised he didn’t push back on the treason remark.”
“Today we saw Mitt Romney’s version of leadership: standing by silently as his chief surrogate attacked the president’s family at the event and another supporter alleged that the president should be tried for treason,” said Lis Smith, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign. “Time after time in this campaign, Mitt Romney has had the opportunity to show that he has the fortitude to stand up to hateful and over-the-line rhetoric and time after time, he has failed to do so. If this is the ‘leadership’ he has shown on the campaign trail, what can the American people expect of him as commander-in-chief?”
This article was updated to include remarks Romney made during an appearance on CNN and a response from the Obama campaign.

Zen Lill I mean you live fearless. I admire the way you can state an opinion and stand up to the flack from all sides.
I see nothing wrong in answering Larry. Probably only the jealous would see one. The way you stick up for both sides. Sometimes I agree with you and sometimes I don’t.
But I like the way you approach your decision to voice yours.
Plus I throughly enjoy the vignettes you share about your daily experiences. It shows a woman who is out there on her own terms.
I wish I had the courage to leave this oppressive dimwit and make it on my own.
But in the mean time I can vicariously live my live through yours.
I used to enjoy every word posted by Howie. But he proved to be like most men with clay feet. Hold the little darlings to the fire and they run like you poured gasoline on their balls.
You have set a fantastic example for the likes of those wimps. You take the heat from all sides some maybe deserving but without a doubt most is not, yet you continue to come back time and time again.
Men, for all the posturing and complaining Al (I love that scamp also), Howie and Doug(This guy could bullshit an eskimo into buying snow in Alaska, but he was as nice and as sweet as they come, if I was 20 years younger I would be in California tomorrow making my case for his affection), and Howie made concerning the badgering of men that goes on (99% of it well deserved), the minute the heat got too hot or a bit personal they did exactly what is often claimed men do on this blog.
The little cowards quit and ran.
They could certainly learn a thing or two from you. Woman up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are we going to do with the white boys proclivity to lie whenever it suits their cause?
Here is Romney claiming that he was responsible for the recovery of the auto industry.
=================
Despite his 2008 call to “let Detroit go bankrupt,” presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Monday that he would “take a lot of credit” for his impact on the U.S. automobile industry’s comeback.

How to Beat a Traffic Ticket
A friend of mine recently got a speeding ticket. She’s not alone. Many police forces have been issuing unusually high numbers of tickets, says Gary Biller, president of the National Motorists Association.
People aren’t driving faster—municipalities are using ticket revenue to close budget gaps.
My friend, who admits she was speeding but had never gotten a speeding ticket before, wondered if she should contest her ticket.
Biller says that it’s usually worth a try.
Drivers sometimes are offered plea bargains that keep their driving records clean and auto insurance rates low.
That’s what happened to my friend. She contested the ticket and was invited to make a “pretrial appearance” at the court.
When she arrived, the prosecuting attorney had already looked up her record, and because it was her first offense, she got off with no points on her license and the cost of the ticket was cut in half.
She didn’t have to take a driving class, which sometimes is a condition of a reduced fine.
Delay tactics can work, too. Someone my friend knew got a speeding ticket that had a box to check off if he wanted a written report of the traffic stop. He sent the ticket back with the box checked but never got a report.
When he called, he was told that the case had been dismissed because legally the court had been required to send a report within 30 days.
Postponing the court appearance is another option. The officer who wrote the ticket might not show up, and the ticket will be dismissed.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating speeding. As my friend said, getting stopped by the police was a good thing. She’s been hugging the speed limit ever since.

Mitt’s reIigion is based on the ‘teachings’ of a guy who claimed that-
He could read mag!cal stones when they were placed in his hat.
An angeI gave him mysterious golden tablets… that only he could decipher.
The Garden of Eden was located in Missouri.
Is it any wonder that Mitt can lie with such ease?
May 8th, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Simple truth-defying falsehoods are one thing. Almost expected from politicians.
But claiming credit for someone else’s policies that he was against when they were proposed–that’s akin to theft. He clearly is too rich to have shame.
May 8th, 2012 at 12:46 pm
Pushed for managed bankruptcy……with who exactly? With what power and influence?
To take credit for something….usually you had to something integral to do with the process.
I could say I pushed for the NY Giants to pass to Manningham more in the Superbowl, doesn’t mean they owe me a superbowl ring……
May 8th, 2012 at 12:46 pm
Just goes to show you that he will say or do anything to make himself look good …even taking credit for something he was against!
May 8th, 2012 at 12:47 pm
It is so typical for a Republican to take credit for President Obama’s successes and for a Republican to blame President Obama for their failures.
May 8th, 2012 at 12:48 pm
What is wrong with Mitt? Has he forgotten about the internet?
He lies when there is no reason to lie!!
Lying has to be pathological, innate or compulsive in him.
My conclusion; he is very dangerous, creepy and scary for this country.

The real problem is the white media is not calling Romney on his lies. The status quo is never dis a white man in favor of a black man.
Hence, they act as if it is debatable that Romney could have some credibility in his claim.
If Obama had made such a scurrilous claim, he would have been lambasted on every channel 24/7. If he mades a mistake in foreign policy they will be all over him.
The point is that the white media realizes this man is approaching becoming the best president this country has ever had in any capacity. That is just too much for the white boy to take.
Hence, the white media has to find fault with Obama where ever they can.

Dear Fellow Conservative,
Our sister property, RedState.com, recently announced registration for the 4th annual RedState Gathering, to take place August 2-5 in Jacksonville, Florida.
The 2011 RedState Gathering featured an all-star cast and schedule, highlighted by Governor Rick Perry announcing his Presidential campaign. With the schedule extended to cover over two full days of speakers and activities, this year’s event will not disappoint.
Erick Erickson, editor of RedState.com and conference host, has already announced that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will be a keynote speaker and Florida Governor Rick Scott and Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson will also be speaking. This is just the beginning. Erick and RedState will be announcing more speaker commitments shortly.
With an all-star lineup—just weeks out from the GOP Convention and in this crucial election year—the 4th Annual RedState Gathering is certain to be the best one yet.

It is repulsive to learn that the republicans and the right are supporting Toyota to become the largest automobile company in the world.
They have gone to the limit of investing more than a $100 million dollars into the Toyota Prius in order to embarrass Obama.
The traitors to their country are willing to cost jobs and income to millions of americans in order to get Obama out.
This is followed by the hundreds of millions of dollars being spend across the nation just to disenfranchise voters who usually vote the democratic ticket.
10s of millions of voters will not be able to vote in the coming national election. This may turn out to be an election stolen just as Scalia stole the election from Gore.
It can certainly happen if the billionaires who support Obama don’t stop believing they need to get in and help counter the steps the Right is taking to get rid of Obama.

Romney knows that he can say anything without having to worry about the fact-checkers because the white media doesn’t go after the white boy who is lying about an OTW candidate.
Of course there is also the fact that most whites will accept any lie by a white candidate to enable them to vote for the white guy without having to feel like the racist he is.

Thank you, Candi, I’m not always fearless but I am damn close : )
I love my life now, I didn’t hate it before but I think that marriage (as mine was defined) isn’t for everyone, by nature it’s predictable and a tiny (or a lot) limiting though being a romantic at heart, I will add that as long as you love what you’re predicting and can stand up to your own limiting relationship behavior or somebody else’s imposed relationship beliefs about your partnering behavior, (a tall order) it can work. In fact, being in relationship with someone is the best way to get a reflection of your true self/behavior. Often people either get scared or don’t really like what they see about themselves and opt out…
I’m going to jump in the political banter soon, I can feel it, I was trying so hard to wait till the eleventh hour – August or so, but there’s soooo much to say about Ro-Money, eyeyiyi…

The way I see it one can argue about white males being inherently bigoted and willing to use their vote to suppress the rights of OTWs, but a short view of the facts would settle the issue.
Just look at what the organized white vote is presently doing. In 32 of 33 voting instances across the country where the vote enables the superior white majority to vote away the rights of the OTW.
The result in all but one instance the white majority gleefully marched to the polls to put the minority OTW in their place.
Face it the reason this country is so f**ked up is because it is governed by racist, bigoted dumb as the proverbial box of rocks whites.
Now Al don’t go getting all riled up. I DIDN’T say all whites. Actually I am pretty certain it is mostly tiny d**k white boys who are engineering this blind bigotry vote.
But that is no consolation to the OTWs who are witnessing their rights being suppressed. Nor does it ameliorate the fact white men have almost complete control over what the average white woman thinks. So in effect they control two votes with each decision they make.
I have no answers. If the white race isn’t willing to accept the fact that they can not continue to be privileged because of the color of their skins, then creeps like Romney will continue to play their race cards to manipulate them into doing what is in their worst interest.

Don’t Mow Your Grass Too Short—and Other Secrets from America’s Lawn Geek
Spring’s arrival signals the start of lawn-care season across much of the US. But while most home owners try to take care of their grass, they don’t always do it properly.
Lawns don’t come with instruction manuals, and lawn-care folk wisdom often is wrong. Answers to 10 important lawn-care questions…
It’s been a relatively warm, snow-less winter across much of the country. Does that affect the way I should be caring for my lawn?
Your grass might start growing sooner than usual. If so, it might be wise to tackle spring lawn chores such as overseeding or aerating in April rather than leaving them for May (see below for details).
Does it matter how short I cut my grass when I mow?
It matters a lot. “Scalping” a lawn—mowing off more than one-third of the grass’s height—is the number-one lawn-care mistake that home owners make.
Doing this sends grass into physiological shock, which leaves the lawn prone to invasion by weeds and less able to cope with drought and other environmental stresses.
The more often you mow—and the less grass you remove with each mowing—the thicker and healthier your lawn is likely to become.
If the grass gets so long that you can’t get it down to proper length in one mowing, wait a day or two and mow again.
For St. Augustine and bahia grasses and for cool-season grasses, such as Kentucky bluegrass and perennial rye, three to four inches is generally best…for most Bermuda and zoysia, one to two inches.
Various Web sites, such as http://www.American-Lawns.com, can help you identify what type of grass you have.
Should I mulch or bag my lawn clippings.
Definitely mulch. Grass clippings are full of nitrogen and other nutrients. Removing them deprives the lawn of free fertilizer.
Modern mulching mowers do an excellent job of grinding up grass into mulch, particularly when you mow off less than one-third of the grass’s height, as described previously.
Helpful: Research has shown that mulching grass does not create excessive thatch and thus does not make lawns more susceptible to disease or drought.
My lawn feels hard-packed. Should I aerate? And if so, what’s the best way to do that.
It is worth aerating if your soil is hard-packed. It’s difficult for grass roots to grow properly when the soil is compacted.
Rent a core aerator (about $40 to $50 for two to four hours), or pay a lawn-care professional to aerate for you.
The aerator used should pull plugs of soil from the ground, not just slash the soil, which is far less effective.
Aerate when grass is actively growing. With the cool-season grasses of the northern US, such as bluegrass, fescue and ryegrass, that generally means April or September (and perhaps the months that precede or follow these, depending on temperatures).
With the warm-season grasses of the South, such as bahia, Bermuda, buffalo or zoysia, it typically means May through July or August.
Aerating once each year for three years usually solves compaction problems.
Warning:If the distance between the holes created by the aerator is greater than three inches, you almost certainly need to make another pass with the aerator.
I know that there are dangers to fertilizing too often, but how often is best?
Excessive fertilizer can “burn” grass, causing severe dehydration that could kill the lawn.
Or extra fertilizer might cause grass to grow quickly, making it difficult to keep up with the mowing and increasing the odds that you will scalp the grass, as described earlier.
Best strategy: Fertilize on the “holiday plan”—on or around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Halloween.
Four times a year is all a lawn really needs. Do not exceed the dosages recommended on the fertilizer’s packaging.
Warning: Do not fertilize your lawn if it has not rained recently and local water-use restrictions prevent watering.
Some home owners faced with this situation think, Well, if I can’t water my lawn, I can at least feed it fertilizer. Unfortunately, this makes a bad situation worse—recently fertilized lawns require even more water than those that have not been fertilized.
My lawn is discolored where my dog relieves itself. How can I keep these patches of lawn healthy?
Dog urine contains high concentrations of ammonia salts (nitrogen), just like fertilizer. And like fertilizer, it’s good for a lawn in modest amounts but causes problems when too much is supplied.
Trouble is, dogs often relieve themselves in roughly the same areas of the lawn every day, causing “burn spots” of dehydrated or dead grass just as if you were overfertilizing these areas.
The best solution is to saturate the affected area thoroughly with a hose every week, particularly when there hasn’t been much rain.
Or pour a pail of water on the area right after the dog urinates. An alternative is to train the dog to urinate in a section of the lawn that is landscaped with gravel or wood chips rather than grass.
Warning: Do not alter the dog’s diet in an attempt to solve this problem. Despite folk wisdom, regularly feeding a dog tomato juice or other fruit juices is unlikely to significantly improve the lawn’s problem and it could cause health problems for the dog.
How much should I water my lawn.
A good rule of thumb is to give your lawn around one inch of water per week, perhaps a bit more during a stretch of very hot days. That guideline includes rainfall.
There are new wireless devices on the market that monitor soil moisture and prevent automated irrigation systems from watering when additional water isn’t needed.
That’s not just good for your lawn…it’s also good for your water bill.
Examples: Toro Precision Soil Sensor ($140, http://www.Toro.com)…UgMO ProHome Soil Sensor System ($499 for a two-sensor system, http://www.UgMo.com).
Water early in the morning so that the grass blades aren’t unnecessarily damp come nightfall—lawns are particularly susceptible to disease when they’re damp on humid summer nights.
Overwatering is much more common than underwatering except when local drought restrictions ban watering.
Signs of an overwatered lawn include the growth of mushrooms or nutsedge (grasslike weeds)…significant runoff from the lawn into the street during watering…
or a mushy feeling when walking across the lawn hours after watering.
Signs of an underwatered lawn include footprints remaining visible in the grass long after you have walked across it.
Burrowing animals are digging holes in my lawn. Is that bad for the grass? What’s the best way to get rid of those animals?
It won’t significantly harm your grass. The lawn might get upheaved a bit in places, but you usually can push it back down easily with your foot.
Research suggests that traps are the most reliable way to rid a lawn of burrowing animals. No one has ever shown that burrowing animals are significantly deterred by blocking their holes or by folk-wisdom solutions such as placing chewing gum in their holes.
There are thin patches in my lawn every year after the snow melts, but overseeding never seems to work. What’s the secret to overseeding?
First, always overseed when your grass is actively growing. With the cool-season grasses of the North, that generally means April or September (and perhaps the months that come before and after these, depending on local climate).
In the South, it typically means May through July or August.
Second, don’t use a nonselective preemergent herbicide if you’re overseeding.
Such herbicides don’t just prevent the growth of weed seeds, they prevent the growth of all seeds, including grass seed.
If you’re overseeding and you want to use a preemergent herbicide, choose one with siduron that allows grass seed to grow. Most major herbicide companies offer a siduron-based product.
Third, take a close look at the thinned patches. If the grass seems matted down and you notice a white, gray or pink growth on the grass blades, snow mold might be the source of your problem.
Fluff up this matted-down grass with a rake to allow more sunlight and air circulation to reach these blades.
My kids play on my lawn. Is there any way I can stop using herbicides without winding up with weeds?
Weeds thrive only when there are gaps in the lawn large enough for them to get the sun they need to grow.
If you water, mow and fertilize, your lawn should be thick and healthy enough so that weeds won’t be a problem even without herbicides.

Winds of change blow through Paris
Our political editor John Gizzi has been in France for a few weeks, enjoying some much needed time off, but also following the French election very intently. The outcome wasn’t expected, because polls showed Francois Hollande leading most of the campaign over incumbent and center-right candidate Nicolas Sarkozy. Gizzi was there when Sarkozy conceded to Hollande, and Giz looks at what is next for the center-right in France.
“Immediate attention is focused on Marine LePen, leader of the anti-immigrant and anti-European Union National Front, who drew a whopping 18 percent of the vote (and third place) in the initial balloting for president April 22. The 43-year-old LePen refused to endorse Sarkozy or Hollande in the run-off and said either would reduce the French to “employees of the European Central Bank.” Now she is clearly trying to position herself as the voice of opposition to Hollande and is focused on winning seats for her party in the June elections for the National Assembly (parliament).” Read more below.
Congressional leaders say Taliban stronger after surge
From a WaPo story on Sunday: “The leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees said Sunday they believe that the Taliban has grown stronger since President Obama sent 33,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan in 2010.
The pessimistic report by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) challenges Obama’s assessment last week in his visit to Kabul that the “tide had turned” and that “we broke the Taliban’s momentum.”
Also — Audrey has a story that should scare many of us in regard to our energy policy. More bureaucratic red tape is keeping us from obtaining many rare minerals used frequently for leading-edge technologies. We are becoming dependent on China, as we are kept from developing our own local sources. Plus — David looks at the new IG report on TARP. A working paper from Federal Reserve economists “confirms that TARP encouraged high-risk behavior by insulating the risk takers from the consequences of failure.”
That, and much more below. Have a good Monday!

I hate to agree with you Alycedale being white. But as you have pointed out history shows that most white people can be gotten to vote away the rights of any minority at the drop of a hat.
We seem to have the Mob Mentality when we sense our power at the polls. So we look around for some group to force into our way of thinking.
Recently my sister came over crying with joy, holding her bible and proclaiming a victory for the lord because our state has declared for the second time that marriage is for one man and one woman.
How pathetic for this woman to be here I thought. Her husband has fathered a child by our baby sister and we both know of men having sex with their daughters.
I mean how is gay marriage a threat to our marriages? We have enough trouble using our bibles to get our men to be faithful without using them to deprive some minority group of their happiness.

Expectation of a huge earthquake because you have your request not returned is not acceptable. It was entirely your fault that it was lost.
Expecting one country to return a part of a device that was scattered over 4 countries is illogical given the state of competition between the countries down here.
Revise or expect complications from those of us in objection.
