Good morning!
Roberta: I am sorry that you are going through this. And I can only imagine how tough your situation is for you. Not sure I would be so kind myself. I once read in a magazine that the way to get revenge of a woman who was having an affair with your husband is to let her have him.
Thank you for the kind words. They are encouraging because I have to tell you, this balance, that you say I have is constantly being tested. I wish you well - Be gentle with yourself during this time.
Bradley: You sound like you are in the know. And I don’t doubt what you say. My thoughts were that something like this would eventually surface.
Social Butterfly: Thanks for posting an update on the Martin/Zimmerman case. Here’s More:
George Zimmerman’s ‘Cozy’ Relationship With Sanford Police Questioned (WATCH)
Neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman had a relationship with members of the police department in Sanford, Fla., long before he shot unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin to death in February, newly released information suggests.
During a community forum on Jan. 8, 2011, more than a year before Martin was killed, Zimmerman, then a criminal justice student, told city officials he had ridden along with Sanford police officers on patrol. Zimmerman blasted Sanford police as lazy and criticized outgoing Police Chief Brian Tooley, who was forced from office in a scandal involving the son of an officer caught on tape beating a homeless black man.
“I would just like to state that the law is written in black and white, it can not be enforced by those who are in the thin blue line,” Zimmerman told an audience that included newly elected Mayor Jeff Triplett, according to an audio recording published by the Miami Herald. Zimmerman said he saw firsthand how bad Sanford police could be during his ride-alongs.
“What I saw was disgusting,” Zimmerman said, “The officer showed me his favorite hiding spots for taking naps, explained to me that he doesn’t carry a long gun in his vehicle because, in his words, ‘anything that requires a long gun requires a lot of paperwork, and you’re going to find me as far away from it.’” Zimmerman continued: “He took two lunch breaks and attended a going away party for one of his fellow officers.”
Zimmerman found himself at the center of another Sanford police scandal a year later. Relatives of Martin, the 17-year-old who was killed while visiting his father in a gated Sanford housing development, and a chorus of supporters across the country have accused Sanford police of biased and sloppy police work. Zimmerman initially was freed by police after saying he shot Martin in self defense. A prosecutor specially assigned to the case, working with state investigators, later charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder. He is free on bail awaiting trial.
A police station video taken three days after the shooting, released by the State Attorney’s Office with a trove of other evidence, shows Zimmerman walking unescorted through the police station. That suggests a “cozy” and “comfortable” relationship with the police, said Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Martin’s family.
“This video of Zimmerman just walking through the police department so casually underscores that people in that department have a familiarity with him,” Crump told HuffPost. “It means that he had a relationship with the Sanford police department. And it’s just unusual that all along they would say they didn’t. But he went on several ride-alongs with them and he was comfortable enough to walk unescorted through their department.”
Zimmerman had longed to be a law enforcement officer and lobbied local law enforcement officials for a job. He was a student at nearby Seminole County Community College, where former Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee, who stepped down amid the Martin scandal, was a professor and ran the police academy.
According to the Herald report, city records show that in March 2010, Zimmerman’s application to ride along with the police was approved despite a background check revealing a criminal history that included resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. (The charges were later dropped.) Zimmerman wrote on the application that he hoped the ride-along would “solidify my interest in a career in law enforcement.”
“We do not have specific dates Mr. Zimmerman may have ridden or with whom he rode, if in fact he ever did ride” with Sanford police, Capt. Robert O’Connor said in a statement. Interim Police Chief Richard Myers said it would be “inappropriate” to draw conclusions from Zimmerman’s 2010 speech before the city council.
“As a police chief, I embrace the notion that transparency helps build public trust, but in this case, the need to preserve the sanctity of a criminal prosecution, for both the prosecutor and the defense, requires us to eschew making any comments that could taint the process,” Myers said in a statement.

So, I will do it here. The rumor is the CoTk//mers believed that a vessel carrying a species capable of extending their life spans by ingesting the basic energy force of certain beings.
The possibility of science being able to extend that to the populations made it worth the risk to them to investigate.
In order to match speeds necessary to overtake the vessel suspected of carrying those beings they had to make alliances with other aliens in the vicinity.
They sided with a group unable to enter the Emperor’s web but quiet capable of monitoring the happens within it.
Unfortunately that group was hostile to Azza. They were not interested in the vessel the CoTk//mers were, they were only interested in testing their time sequence tube with a vessel the size of CoTk//mers.
The test ended badly. All who entered were lost.

Citrus Fruits Cut Stroke Risk
Citrus fruits contain antioxidants called flavanones, which have anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.
Recent finding: Women who ate the most citrus had 19% fewer ischemic strokes (the most common kind) than women who ate the least. The effect is likely to be similar in men.
Recommended:
Two servings of citrus a day—preferably whole fruit. Juice also has flavanones but is high in calories and has little fiber.

She is senior author of a study of 69,622 women published in Stroke.

TGIF! Happy Memorial Day weekend everybody and Happy 75th Birthday to the Golden Gate Bridge!
I wanted to share an article I saw from Robert Reich’s blog. For those who believe politics may be too complicated, over their head, or doesn’t affect them, this may help to explain why our country currently operates like it does. It’s written “in laymen’s terms.”
If you don’t know who Robert Reich is, he an American political economist, professor, author, and political commentator. He served in the administrations of Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and was Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1997.
The piece is called Obama Has To Explain Why Fairness is Essential to Growth (and Why Some Democrats Have to Stop Believing Otherwise).
—
The Cory Booker imbroglio has ignited a silly but potentially pernicious debate in the Democratic Party between so-called “pro-growth centrists” who want the President to focus on how well he’s done getting the economy back on its feet after the Bush administration almost knocked it out, and “pro-fairness populists” who want him to focus on the nation’s widening inequality and Wall Street’s (and Romney’s) continuing role in generating profits for a few at the expense of almost everyone else.
According to the National Journal’s Josh Kraushaar, for example: “Conversations with liberal activists and labor officials reveal an unmistakable hostility toward the pro-business, free-trade, free-market philosophy that was in vogue during the second half of the Clinton administration… Moderate Democratic groups and officials, meanwhile, privately fret about the party’s leftward drift and the Obama campaign’s embrace of an aggressively populist message… They wish the administration’s focus was on growth over fairness.”
This is pure bunk – or should be.
Fairness isn’t inconsistent with growth; it’s essential to it. The only way the economy can grow and create more jobs is if prosperity is more widely shared.
The key reason why the recovery is so anemic is so much income and wealth are now concentrated at the top is America’s the vast middle class no longer has the purchasing power necessary to boost the economy.
The richest 1 percent of Americans save about half their incomes, while most of the rest of us save between 6 and 10 percent. That shouldn’t be surprising. Being rich means you already have most of what you want and need. That second yacht isn’t nearly as exciting as was the first.
It follows that when, as now, the top 1 percent rakes in more than 20 percent of total income — at least twice the share it had 30 years ago — there’s insufficient demand for all the goods and services the economy is capable of producing at or near full employment. And without demand, the economy doesn’t grow or generate nearly enough jobs.
Wall Street is part of the problem because it’s responsible for so much of the concentration of income and wealth at the very top – and for much of the distress still felt in the rest of the economy after the Street nearly melted down in 2008.
The Street has turned a significant part of the economy into a giant casino involving mammoth bets with other peoples’ money. When the bets go well, the rich owners of the casino (Wall Street executives, traders, hedge-fund managers, private-equity managers) become even richer. When the bets go sour, the rest of us bear the costs.
The casino also requires continuous transfers of wealth from ordinary taxpayers. Some are built into the tax code. One is the preference of debt over equity (interest on debt is tax deductible), which awards Wall Street banks like JPMorgan for risky lending and awards private-equity firms like Bain Capital for piling debt on the firms it buys.
Another is the “carried interest” rule that, absurdly, allows private-equity managers (like Mitt Romney) to treat their income as capital gains even when they haven’t risked any of their money.
The biggest of all is the invisible guarantee that if the biggest banks get into trouble, taxpayers will bail them out. This subsidy reduces the big banks’ cost of capital relative to other banks and fuels even more risky lending.
None of this is fair. It’s also bad for economic growth and jobs – as we’ve so painfully witnessed.
Translated into presidential politics, all this means the President should be talking about fairness and growth and jobs, and explaining why we can’t have the latter without the former.
It also means he should be attacking Mitt Romney because Romney is part of the system of casino capitalism that has harmed America and held back growth — and Romney wants even less regulation of Wall Street (he’s vowed to repeal Dodd-Frank).
And because the budget Romney has put forth would gut public services vital to the middle class and poor, while cutting taxes on the rich and on corporations even more than they’ve already been cut.
In other words, Romney epitomizes the unfairness of the American economy in this new Gilded Age. For that same reason, Romney is the quintessence of an economic approach shown to be anti-growth and anti-jobs.
—–
I like the idea of fairness. But, in reality, it’s just an idea. I do agree Obama needs to get tougher with his messaging and engaging the ignorant American public to see the truth. Really though, you have to be dumb as a box of rocks to vote Romney. And if you are woman voting Republican, I’d call you dumber than a box of rocks and misogynistic.

Social Butterfly, That was an excellent explanation of just what America’s problem is if you are white.
If you are an OTW and in most cases a white female, it means about as much as the reasons why Democracy should be preferred to Dictatorship in Egypt and any of the other arab countries gaining democracy to the females in those countries.
It means exactly nothing because they will not benefit. Robert Reich, like the rest of the white boys in America, explains the problem based on his own narcissistic interests.
In other words how the white boy will benefit if “fairness” is the chief factor governing the rules applied to financial regulation when seeking to administer a set of rules governing America’s capitalistic system.
“Fairness” is as foreign to the white boy as Truth is. The very Constitution of this nation was founded on the unfair principle that only Land owning White Men could benefit from those pieces of paper called The Constitution of The United States of America and The Bill of Rights.
Therefore regardless of the success Obama achieves toward that goal of “Fairness” in the financial sector, the OTWs in America will still get murdered, framed, and jailed unfairly, they will still get very little opportunity to benefit from the change of the financial system.
And the women will still have their bodies controlled by white boy dictates. They will still be paid less, and they will still be raped without due process by the white boy Just-US system of jUStice.
That brings us to the elephant in the room when it comes to “messaging” issue your article is essentially about. How does Obama frame his “message” so that the majority of voters will make an intelligent decision.
That elephant in the room is RACE. Hence, It really does not matter what Obama’s message is.
This election will come down to RACISM. Or rather how much RACE will effect the white boy’s decision to put his best financial interest over his racism.
It does not take a rocket scientist to understand why Romney with all his negatives is still giving the sitting President who rescued the Nation from the brink of financial ruin, saved the US Car industry from extinction, provided a measure of health care for all the people of his nation that the other 43 presidents Didn’t, Wouldn’t, or Couldn’t, a close contest.
If Obama was white, he would have a commanding lead over the non-christian. He would have a commanding lead over the animal abuser, he would have a commanding lead over the man who used Bain to loot companies and send jobs overseas, he would have a commanding lead over the man who said let Detroit go bankrupt, he would have a commanding lead over the man who put the same health care program to play while governor that Obama has for the nation, he would have a commanding lead over the man who told America’s college bound to borrow the money from their parents, he would have a commanding lead over the man who ran his state into fiscal despair when he was governor.
If you need more convincing consider that Romney was soundly defeated by an overwhelming majority by both Bush and Ted Kennedy in elections for only a few of those reasons.
Why did they soundly defeat the Morman? Because they were white men and against white men the adversarial role is about the qualifications of the two men.
Obama is NOT white so the trump card is RACE. And Obama is not dealt a trump card, only the white candidate gets one.
Ergo whatever the negatives in qualifications or character that America’s electorate discovers Romney has, it won’t matter once he gets to play his trump card.
This election will come down to whether enough white men will vote their financial benefit over their racism; plus how many white women will remain as dumb as a box of rocks…………….. and the degree of success that results from the tactics the white boy will use to control the OTW vote.
Some of those tactics have been given to us by Anonz and Mike,TM(I believe it stands for “The Mouth.”).
Those tactics are, not limited to, but do include: voter registration laws designed to diminish the OTW vote and older voters who tend vote Democratic; Manipulation of the poll availabilities to do the same; Co opting the software used to count the votes to out right steal the election county by county in every key state.
This my sincerely concerned compadre, Social Butterfly(a choice that demonstrates an extraordinary ability to free associate), is what is really going on.
The press, and just about any white boy pundit, will ignore the Race issue because they are hypocrites. LSOS who will accept the privilege of the 1% because they don’t want their Affirmative Action Beneficiary privilege touched.
The greedy, selfish bastards, believe that that 1% category is reserved for white men only. If they can only get the White House back they feel they will have it all again.
Hence the popularity of the slogan, “We will take our country back.”
For those who believe politics may be too complicated, over YOUR head, or doesn’t affect YOU, this may help to explain why White America currently operates like it does. It’s written “in laymen’s terms.”
Any Questions?

RobertRt, no questions here, you summed it up, fairness and truth are rare indeed in the white boy vernacular.
…and if Obama were white Romney would be the laughing stock and they’d be digging deep for another more ‘qualified’ racist, ooops I mean candidate. Since MR holds the trump card (he’s white) he’s actually being seriously considered. That’s scary to me.
I would love to hear your theory on how in this racist society Obama was (allowed by gop?) elected…I’m not challenging your racist theory, I believe it stands – unfortunately…is it your contention that Obama got in bc GWBush was just so very bad that people gave a black man a go? How could the gop have allowed this, bc we all know they stop at nothing to get what they want.
I voted for Obama bc I think he’s intelligent (something I appreciate in people in general and especially someone running the country) and he had a plan for the near future (though thwarted on every turn by the gop) and I plan to vote Obama again, just curious on your take since you have that ability to articulately cut to the chase.

I fully understand your position about dumb as a box of rocks American white women. Take that Meghan McCain for instance, she is supporting a party that doesn’t care a hoot about women’s issues.

Claire this applies to dumb as a box of rocks american white gay men too. I’m a gay democrat, but If the democrats didn’t respect the person I am, no matter how many other views we shared, I wouldn’t stand with them. That’s what I don’t get about people, why belong to a group that you know hates you?

The Rep party has gone so far to the right that they’ve become dangerous. The only way our country can succeed now is to vote out the obstructionist Rep congress.
Our president is making decisions for the good of ALL Americans, not just the top 1%. For that, the Reps will never accept him.
May 26th, 2012 at 7:59 am
I’m a flaming liberal and I come from a family of rock-ribbed Republicans. I remember a Republican party that one could respect if not agree with until the dirty tricksters from the Nixon impeachment and failed Bork nomination to the Supremes embittered the old hands.
They have become so embittered that they’ve played with fire ever since and now they must dance to the tune the TP plays. Pretty damned frightening for us, for the world…and I suspect for them as they realize they are now riding the tiger they created.
There is something to be said in favor of having a loyal opposition party and for me that would be a true conservative GOP. We have no conservatives in the GOP – they are radical reactionaries.
They’ve driven out the true conservatives (the Javitses, the Ikes, the Rockefellers, etc.) and we now have angry, destructive, unbelievably selfish, churlish and nihilistic children busying themselves with tearing down the curtains and setting fire to the entire house.
Except for people such as Meghan McCain. There are no doubt many sectors in which I would disagree with Ms. McCain but I respect her.

The Food That Reduces Colon Polyps 33%
I don’t need to remind you that it’s important to get a periodic colonoscopy starting at age 50 (even earlier if you’re at high risk for colon cancer).
You already know that’s an important way to detect the deadly disease early so that you can treat it quickly and prevent it from advancing.
The great news is that there’s something else that women can do to lower their odds of dying from colon cancer—and even reduce the chance of developing it in the first place, according to a new study.
And let me tell you, it’s a lot more enjoyable than getting a colonoscopy! It involves eating a delicious food…
PROTECTION FROM POLYPS
Are you ready to find out what this cancer buster is? It’s fish! Salmon, sardines and other oily cold water fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to promote brain power, heart health, eye health, clearer skin…and now we can add “may prevent colon cancer” to that list.
So I called the researchers to find out why fish may help and how much you need to eat to get the extra protection.
To study the effect of fish on colon health, researchers recruited more than 5,300 men and women between 40 and 75 years old who underwent colonoscopies.
After the test, participants—some with polyps and others without polyps (the control group)— answered questions about their diets, general health habits and medical history.
After factoring in variables such as age, race, body mass index and smoking, researchers found that women, in particular, who consumed the most fish (at least three servings a week) were 33% less likely to develop potentially cancerous colon polyps called adenomas than women who ate the least fish (one-half serving or less a week).
However, among men, the researchers found no association between eating fish and a reduced risk for potentially cancerous polyps.
While these results don’t prove that eating fish definitely prevents colon cancer among women, they do show a strong association, and that is a strong indication that eating fish might help.
WHY FISH HELPS FEMALES
To discuss why fish may have this effect—and why it has this effect only on women—I spoke to lead study author Harvey J. Murff, MD, MPH, an associate professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville.
Healthful omega-3 fatty acids in fish may be what reduce polyp risk because they reduce inflammation throughout the body, including in the colon, Dr. Murff said.
But he readily concedes that he and his colleagues were puzzled to see this effect only in women. He speculates that it may be due to men’s diets overall.
In the dietary surveys, compared to women, men consumed higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids, which are commonly found in foods such as meat, grains and processed foods, and those can offset the positive impact of omega-3s.
Another possible reason for the disparity: Biological differences between men and women. For example, men and women metabolize fatty acids differently due to having different balances of hormones.
I asked Dr. Murff whether the fact that all women studied were over 40 (and therefore likely either perimenopausal or menopausal) potentially had something to do with the findings. “We are analyzing the data to see whether that made a difference, so we’re not sure yet,” he said.
GO FISH
Whether you’re a man or a woman, you can’t go wrong by including more omega-3s in your diet, said Dr. Murff. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish rich in omega-3s at least twice a week, and this study suggests that three servings a week may be even better.
So fill your plate with fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout, sardines and albacore tuna. While this study did not examine cooking methods, steaming, baking and broiling are healthier ways to prepare your fish than frying or grilling.
You can also get omega-3 fatty acids from nonfish foods, such as flaxseed, walnuts, soybeans and canola oil. Dr. Murff said that getting omega-3s through food is ideal, but if you’re interested in taking a fish oil or krill oil supplement, talk to your doctor.

Republicans like their female politicians to sit down and be quiet and do as they say since they “have” to be there!
May 26th, 2012 at 8:06 am
The GOP selected this path to absurdity when it signed on to the politics of Karl Rove. Rove understands – probably better than anyone – that FEAR sells.
Marketing 101 – what sells is greed, sex and fear. They do work the greed angle, but can’t get any traction on sex (they tried with Clinton but he wound up leaving office with record high approval ratings.)
FEAR is the mainstay of the GOP and as they keep setting up and attacking bogeymen, the attack opportunities diminish to the point that they begin attacking their own.

Zen Lill, even the best laid plans of great people can go astray. But actually, the financial disaster of 2008 created the “Perfect Storm” for a black man.
People in general are easy to manipulate with fear. Well in 2008 the fear of loss of a roof over ones head and all that accompanies it was too much too soon for white america to handle.
And just as they looked for a non white God in Jesus to give them salvation, they were willing to look elsewhere for leadership in 2008. Don’t get me wrong this did not apply to the white boy. But it did to about 40% of the rest of the white race(mostly white women and young whites).
Obama’s people did the math and calculated corrected that if they could get 95% of the black vote, 40% of the white vote, 60% of the Latino, vote and 35% of the Asian vote, he had a chance to upset a group who were not ready to seriously believe that a black man could beat a white man for the office of President of the United States of America.
It was as simple as that on paper. Of course the genius came in the details. Obama and his crew did the rest. They our smarted the racists at every turn. The results speak for themselves.
However the white boy has learned. For starters they eliminated the people being able to provide the money as a benefit because they recognized the power of the people to support a true grassroots candidate.
They nixed that by their BADF STARK maneuver to allow corporations to give unlimited funds.
There went the advantage Obama or any true grass roots candidate had to appeal directly to the people and ignore the big money of the crooks who after they donate are back with their hands out with payback demands for those “donations.”
I could go on. But suffice it to say they have looked at every move Obama made to enable him to circumvent their heretofore setup to guarantee them a white man’s hold on that office. And this time they have vowed to close all those holes.
This race will be about RACE. Unfortunately, for Obama, this time the fact that he rescued white america from the brink means they may now not be desperate enough to support a BLACK man for the job of continuing the rescue.

It’s about time somebody steps up to the plate and calls the Repubs out at their own game. Conversatives only wish they could make what Bush and their Right Wingers did to this country go away by merly crying “Unfair Blame Game”.
