Flap Your Lips Friday

Good morning!
For those of you that didn’t see this on the Ed Show, I thought I would post what seems to be a hot topic from the comments I read on yesterday’s post:
Ed Schultz: ‘Fox & Friends’ Attack Ad Confirms That ‘Fox News Is An Arm Of The Republican Party’(VIDEO)
“Fox and Friends” aired a remarkable four-minute video on its Wednesday show.
The video, which the hosts of the show advertised as taking a “look back” at President Obama’s four years in office, could easily be mistaken for a Republican attack ad. It was aired multiple times throughout the show. (UPDATE: Fox News later issued a statement disavowing the ad and attributing it to an associate producer. See the statement below.)
“We decided to take a look back at the president’s first term to see if it lived up to hope and change,” host Gretchen Carlson asked at one point, introducing the video.
In the video —which is labeled as a “Fox and Friends Presents” production — viewers see images of Obama talking about jobs contrasted with footage of homeless people. There is dark, foreboding music, and statistics about the unemployment rate, the rise in the number of food stamps, and the national debt, among other things.
The hosts heaped lavish praise on the producer of the video saying that it had taken a “tremendous amount of research” to put together.
Some media critics were outraged by the video. The Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik denounced it, calling it reminiscent of “1930s propaganda”:
As the guy who challenged the Obama administration two years when it tried to deny Fox News access to interviews and other opportunities offered to the media on the grounds that Fox was not a legitimate news operation, I have to tell you even I am shocked by how blatantly Fox is throwing off any pretense of being a journalistic entity with videos like this. Don’t be fooled by Bret Baier’s Boy Scout smile or all the talk about how some shows are news and some are opinion on the channel. Any news organization that puts up this kind of video is rotten to the core.
Conservative commentators also expressed discomfort with the video. Hot Air’s Ed Morrisey said that it didn’t seem like something a news organization should be producing:
I know the initial response will be that other news organizations offer biased perspectives and hagiographies of Obama that go well beyond a single video … and that response is entirely valid. However, we usually criticize that kind of behavior with other news organizations, too. If anyone wanted to look for evidence that the overall Fox News organization intends to campaign against Obama rather than cover the campaign, this video would be difficult to refute as evidence for that claim.
UPDATE: Bill Shine, the executive vice president for programming at Fox News, issued a statement about the video on Wednesday afternoon.
“The package that aired on ‘Fox & Friends’ was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network,” Shine said. “This has been addressed with the show’s producers.”
Fox News later confirmed that the video had been removed from both its main website and the network’s aggregation site, foxnation.com.

Citizens United kicks the doors completely open to the entrance of the military industrial complex run by the oligarchs and plutocrats, and the dimunition of the democratic republic.
The United States of Serfdom America is in the future.

One step at a time Democracy is being eroded by groups such as Citizens United. One step at a time will come faster as time goes by and those steps will be more difficult to remove once in place.
We have to stand up to them and all groups like Citizens United. They are the Domestic enemies of our country and more dangerous than groups like who we think knocked down the Twin Towers….

For someone who used to be a staunch conservative, Stevens certainly seems to take serious exception to the logic and rationale of the SC majority decision.
Stevens’ discussion lays out an argument that indicates that not only was the Citizens United decision was wrong and unsustainable, but it infers that it is ideologically leaning, short on intellectual depth and manipulates the legal environment to provide a political assist.

Don’t Get Skimmed
Patrons of a Citibank near me recently got “skimmed” using the ATMs in the bank’s own lobby. Crooks installed hidden devices to capture information encoded on the magnetic strips of bank cards.
They then used the information to steal funds from victims’ accounts.
Few banks and gas stations are doing enough to protect their customers, says Robert Siciliano, CEO of Boston-based security company IDTheftSecurity.com. His advice…
Examine ATMs carefully. If the card reader extends outward from the face of the ATM, give the external portion a quick yank or twist.
Do the same with the panel containing the keypad.
Don’t use the ATM if either feels loose. Be wary if the color of the plastic around the card reader or the keypad doesn’t match the plastic elsewhere.
Don’t assume that an ATM is safe because it is in a well-monitored location. Last year, there was a rash of skimmings at ATMs near the registers inside busy supermarkets.
Look for tiny hidden cameras aimed at the keypad. Crooks sometimes use these to learn victims’ PINs.
A camera could be hidden inside a bank brochure holder near the ATM keypad or in a fake speaker mounted on the ATM.
To be safe, use your free hand to cover your typing hand.
Confirm that your card slides in and out of the card reader smoothly. Jamming suggests a skimmer.
Be wary of gas pumps—you might be skimmed. Use a credit card (or select “credit” when using a debit card)—laws protect credit card users from substantial losses.
Check your bank account regularly. Contact the bank immediately if you notice any unexplained declines.

The Citizens United decision WAS wrong. Why should the Koch brothers have over 400 million votes? There are only two of them.
NO non-human should have the right to donate unlimited funds; nor should any single human have the right to BUY the White House, simply because they can.
Regarding corporations: Why should an entity which has no birth certificate be allowed to finance any campaign — positive or negative — which specifically targets a living, breathing human being who is seeking Public Office?
Citizens United has opened the floodgates to any foreign or domestic human or non-human torrent of cash, simply because of these factors:
1) The donor need never be identified.
2) Donated funds have no limit.
3) Third-party ads don’t have to be approved by the candidate; in fact, such campaigns are banned from coordinating with the candidate.
Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia could easily pump $5 billion into whatever coffers he wants; he’d barely notice the outlay of cash. And who would ever know the source?
Our country is being taken over by plutocrats and theologians.
Just what the Founding Fathers wanted, right?
June 1st, 2012 at 11:54 am
It seems to me that Citizens United is in direct conflict with one man, one vote. Theoretically, each member of a corp. has a vote. When one then allows the corp to have a vote, it virtually gives 1 + a fraction of a vote to an individual, i.e. those who actually own the corporation. I ask you, is that fair?

It’s like Anonz and Mike,MT said the republicans are going to attempt to steal the elections. Florida was ordered to stop purging the voter rolls by the federal government, but since the republicans know that that is their only option they have to wining the White House.
========================
Florida will defy a federal warning to stop purging people the state suspects aren’t U.S. citizens from voter registration rolls.
Despite a Justice Department letter, objections from county elections officials and evidence that a disproportionate number are voters of color, Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner’s office planned to continue scrubbing the election rolls, a spokesman said Friday. Gov. Rick Scott (R) ordered the search for potentially ineligible voters.
“We have an obligation to make sure the voter rolls are accurate and we are going to continue forward and do everything that we can legally do to make sure than ineligible voters cannot vote,” said Chris Cate, a spokesman for Detzner. “We are firmly committed to doing the right thing and preventing ineligible voters from being able to cast a ballot. We are not going to give up our efforts to make sure the voter rolls are accurate.”
Justice Department officials declined to comment on Florida’s plans.

Eliminating the opposition vote through any device, a tradition established ‘long ago’ by the Rove-venerated St. Katherine Harris, is cherished by the regressive following.
The GOPTP motto: The ends justify the means, no matter what those means might be.
Their tagline: Honor and integrity are for losers.

Make no mistake, the right-wing is looking to start a civil war in this country. They have NO respect for the rule of law, that’s why they’re so big on keeping their guns – so they can use them on liberals.
June 2nd, 2012 at 8:54 am
I read that article and it said exactly what Mike,MT said about getting rid of the people who are most likely to vote for Obama and the Dems.
=========================
Moreover, in an initial list of nearly 3,000 voters the state suspects are non-citizens, blacks and Latinos were disproportionately represented, a coalition of advocacy groups said in a statement Thursday. A Miami Herald analysis
found nearly 60 percent of the people on the list to be Latino. Hispanic voters constitute just 13 percent of the state’s electorate, according to federal data.
The National Voter Registration Act requires states to make every effort to monitor and maintain clean and accurate voter rolls, Browne Dianis said. But the same law also says efforts must take place 90 days or more before a federal election begins.
Florida voters are set to vote in a primary Aug. 14 that includes candidates seeking congressional seats — meaning the state has missed the three-month deadline.
=================
Rick Scott, and those other Republican Governors of his ideolog, are saying to the rest of us they are above everyone and they alone can decide who is deserving.
If there is voter fraud going on it is being forced on us by these underhanded Governors who can’t win fairly so they are engaged in illegal activities…..willing to win at any price.
Why are Republicans afraid to compete fairly?

IN FOUR YEARS AS GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS, MITT ROMNEY CREATED A DISMAL 45,800 JOBS -IN FOUR YEARS!!!——During a BOOM!
-According to employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment under Romney’s governorship went from 3,224,600 to 3,270,400. That’s an additional 45,800 jobs.—-
—– IF YOU TAKE 45,800 JOBS DIVIDED BY 4 YEARS, ROMNEY PRODUCED 11,200 JOBS PER YEAR – PITIFUL -
THAT AVERAGES TO AROUND 900 JOBS A MONTH CREATED WHILE HE WAS GOVERNOR. 900 JOBS -PATHETIC JOB CREATOR…
..By the way, Massachusetts unemploymnet rate is now 6.3 percent – during a down turn?
HOW YOU ASK?
They have a Democrat as governor!

5) We Can’t Talk About Romney’s Olympic Bailout?
The media has ignored about when Mitt Romney spoke to us in French as the head of the 2002 US Olympics the organization that was deep in debt and corruption.
Romney now claims he “Saved The Olympics” but what he really did was ask for a federal “bailout from George Bush”. Bush then gave the Olympics 600 million dollars to get their act together and in the final count, Romney spent 1.2 billion and was way over budget even after a bailout.
The Olympics managed by Mitt Romney, was the most expensive in history, and John McCain once again called it “the worst example of Pork Barrel Spending” he’d every witnessed.
Romney thinks his record “bailout” his record in earmarks, and his record spending at the Olympics, is part of his “business experience” that makes him a viable candidate for President.
But no one is actually talking about that.

More importantly, WHY won’t Obama own up to his own Presidential Record?
The man is an utter failure as a “leader” of this nation, having both bankrupted the National Treasury and divided the Nation into class struggles based upon the envious loathing of success.
Diversionary obfuscation of what IS happening under the present leader, to then focus upon myopic analysis of what may have happend ten years ago, smacks of “smoke & mirrors,” and a fear that Americans will peer to see the empty-suited “man behind the curtain.”
The “Take 2012″ banner above is an example. If Obama was the President you want him to be, shouldn’t that read…
“Look at 2009-2012 & repeat this rosey future under Obama in 2013″
Instead, the best you can offer is that Obama may be less dangerous than Romney.
Right now, used cat litter is a better choice than Obama, and Romney is somewhat superior to used cat litter.
Therefore, I and many millions of other Americans will take a chance on Romney, and then boot him out if he does as bad as Obama has.

Tortilla Chips That Lower Cholesterol: And Other Great Stuff from the Natural Products Expo
Imagine for a moment a blocks-long Whole Foods supermarket where you can get free samples of everything.
Then you’ll have an idea of the size and scope of the 2012 Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, California. Here are my top picks…
NATURAL FOODS
Many foods at the show were healthier versions of American favorites, such as pizza, ice cream and chips.
And literally hundreds of products were gluten-free.
Gayle’s Sweet ‘N’ Sassy Barbecue Sauce offers a delicious combination of spices—garlic, cumin, black pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano and mustard seed—but no gluten (and no fat, no corn syrup and just a smidgen of salt).
Six flavors, from Original to Chipotle. $3.99 per 20-ounce bottle. http://www.GaylesBBQ.com
Talenti Gelato is far and away the best ice cream and sorbet that I’ve ever tasted. There are 19 rich, delicious flavors weighing in at 110 to 260 calories per one-half-cup serving—but the flavor is so satisfying that a smaller serving is plenty.
The Sea Salt Caramel Gelato and Roman Raspberry Sorbetto are to die for! $7.99 to $8.99 per pint. http://www.TalentiGelato.com
Alpina Revive Yogurt combines thick, high-protein Greek yogurt with gluten-free granolas rich with fruit, grains and spices. It comes in four flavors—blueberry, mango, honey and plain. Perfect for a high-protein snack or quick meal. $14.32 for assorted packs of eight six-ounce servings. http://www.Alpina.com
Bold Organics Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Pizza was created by award-winning chef Eric Brenner. (Bon Appétit praised his restaurant Chez Leon as the “best neighborhood restaurant” in St. Louis.)
It was so delicious, I didn’t care that it didn’t taste like my favorite New York pizza. $8.99 to $11.23 per 11-to-13.5- ounce pizza. http://www.Bold-Organics.com
Corazonas Tortilla Chips have a secret ingredient—plant sterols, which more than 140 scientific studies show can lower artery-clogging LDL cholesterol. Look for Black Bean & Cheese…Lightly-Salted…and Squeeze Of Lime. $2.99 per seven-ounce package. http://www.Corazonas.com
GREEN CLEANING
Begley’s Earth Responsible Products from the actor and environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr., are a top choice for safe cleaning. Unlike many green products on the market, the labels list all the ingredients, so you know for sure that they’re nontoxic.
The products include Aroma-Therapeutic Dish Soaps (16 ounces, $6.99)…Multi Purpose Cleaner (16 ounces, $6.99)…and Household Stain & Odor Remover (16 ounces, $6.99). http://www.BegleysBest.com
WEIGHT-LOSS HELPER
PGX (PolyGlycoplex), a combination of fibers, is viscous—meaning it slows digestion, regulating blood sugar and controlling appetite.
Unlike other viscous fibers such as psyllium, it doesn’t immediately thicken in liquid. It can help you lose weight and lower your cholesterol. http://www.pgx.com

Ensuring Equal Pay for Equal Work
June 1, 2012
Ensuring Equal Pay for Equal Work
Last Congress, Democrats made equal pay a key priority for our economic recovery and a marker of our progress as a nation.
By passing the Lilly Ledbetter Act — the first bill President Obama signed into law — we restored the right of women and other workers to challenge unfair pay in court.
In the House, we passed the Paycheck Fairness Act, legislation that reaffirms an American value: equal pay for equal work.
Though it had the support of a majority of the House and Senate, Republican Senators blocked its progress.
Now, Democrats in the House and Senate have reintroduced the bill, taking affirmative steps to ensure that women earn what men earn for doing the same job.
Instead of blocking this legislation again, Republicans must join Democrats to ensure pay equity. My Democratic colleagues and I will continue to work on behalf of equality in the workplace – because when we strengthen economic security for America’s women, we strengthen the economic security of America’s families. In doing so, we reignite the American dream.
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi marks the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate
with one of the original bridge workers, Gus Villalta.
Standing Up for the Middle Class
The GOP must take immediate action to ensure that middle-income tax cuts do not expire.
Democrats understand that by ensuring that the tax cuts do not expire, we put money into the pockets of American consumers, saving the typical middle-income family thousands of dollars per year.
We are committed to passing legislation now to inject demand into our markets and strengthen small businesses.
By investing in both the short-term growth of our economy and the long-term prosperity of our nation, we will empower the entrepreneurial spirit of the American people.
On Wednesday, I wrote an op-ed discussing the importance of providing stability and certainty for America’s middle class and calling on Republicans to work with Democrats to spur our economy. We should not delay passing legislation that will help afford all Americans the opportunity to reach their goals.
You’re Invited!

We have so much great content for you today. From more analysis of what to expect on Tuesday in Wisconsin, to Mayor Bloomberg’s latest nanny state endeavor, Human Events has you covered. Let’s kick it off…
von Spakovsky: States’ new version of the Alien and Sedition Acts — “Citizens in 22 states should be alarmed … An amicus brief filed by those states’ attorneys general indicates they do not believe in robust First Amendment rights. Instead, they urge the U.S. Supreme Court to let state governments censor political speech and political activity.” READ MORE
President Obama snubs Lech Walesa — From the folks over at National Review… “According to the Wall Street Journal, Polish officials requested that Walesa accept the Medal of Freedom on behalf of Jan Karski, a member of the Polish Underground during World War II who was being honored posthumously this week. The request makes sense. Walesa and Karski shared a burning desire to rid Poland of tyrannical subjugation. But President Obama said no.” READ MORE

Nanny Bloomberg strikes again: Opinion from David Harsanyi today: “This week, New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg announced that he will outlaw the sale of sodas, sports drinks and other sugary beverages that exceed 16 ounces. Don’t worry. There are numerous exemptions to this petty interference. Feel free to indulge in high-caloric milkshakes, fruit juices or just head to the convenience store and grab a Big Gulp, a Slurpee, or buy large bottles of Diet Coke.” Read more below.

If there isn’t some intervention soon Syria is on the verge of civil war and risks collapse into sectarian strife.
