NRA: Enabler Of Death
Posted by Michelle Moquin on July 24th, 2012
Good morning!
There has been a lot of talk about the “crazy” man that swept his way through the theater in Colorado killing many and injuring more. And of course my readers are very verbal as well.
I just have to speak my two here too, because the logic of the law escapes me. How is saying that you can buy any gun you want, but you cannot be allowed to buy an assault rifle, interfere with your 2nd Amendment rights? I think it is perfectly fine to want to own a gun.
I will quote Barbara because I like what she said: “Most of the rest of us support the right to bear arms, but reasonable arms, NOT weapons that are bought just for the purpose of killing a lot of people, or to support a small penis neurosis.” So yes, you might just want to buy a simple handgun to protect your family, with no thought whatsoever to buy an assault gun. Okay, that’s reasonable. But why would you ever support the purchasing of a gun that is anything more? You may own a gun and not want to do what the killer in Colorado did, but there are people who want to and do, and we are supporting that by allowing these assault weapons to be sold.
I don’t know what goes through your mind but my mind says that you have to have the smallest dick in the world to want an assault rifle. And in my opinion, the smaller the dick the bigger the gun they want. (And yes, maybe even a huge truck to go along with, following that same path) They have to make up for it in some way, and that seems to be the chosen way for many who decide to buy such a weapon. Yeah that makes you a big man doesn’t it? And don’t get me going about the women that go for this kind of man. I won’t go down that path. You know what I’m talking about. The logic just escapes me.
Let me take a side leap for a bit and then I’ll be back.
I think there should be a new title for the republican party: “The Paid To Play Party” – Simple, they are paid to play: The PTP Party. The Politician’s hand is out saying, “Pay me and I’ll play like I am your politician.” Whatever they need to say, so that the people who pay them will be satisfied and all the stupid people will listen and go along, hoping to somehow get big enough…rich enough so they can pay politicians to play their game too. The promise is there, but as we know, they won’t ever make it.
So if the rich people want to have more money they pay for the politician to play the game that suits their needs, their interests…you know the things that brings them the big bucks. Who cares what morals you speak…what you believe in. You are paid to play…to think and vote with the highest bidder who bought you. Just make sure that you can convince the stupid people to go along with you. And as you can see, many of our politicians do.
Now back to the movie massacre in Colorado.
You can call the guy “crazy”…you can say “he was motivated by the movie – let’s outlaw the movie”…”he would’ve found another way even if he didn’t buy the assault guns”. Or whatever else you want to say. Well, let him find another way, but don’t make it easy. We’re making it easy by not making these types of guns, these assault weapons illegal to buy.
Then to add to it, we find out that this killer is making bombs in his home. Okay then, we make it illegal to buy these kinds of things that make it easy to make these bombs. It can’t goon how it is; we have to start eliminating something.
I mean really, why in the world do we have allow these types of guns and bomb making ingredients legal to purchase in the first place? Do we really need to have these available? Who needs a rifle with 6000 rounds of ammunition? Simple. No one except a killer. And he doesn’t even need an ID to buy it.
Look, the bottom line is, it doesn’t matter if the guy was crazy, upset, or whatever. And we certainly don’t need a shrink to tell us why the guy did it. Who cares what reason he had to do it, or how crazy he is. He did it because we allowed him to buy assault weapons so that he could carry through with his plan. Take away that ability and you take away the opportunity.
If he couldn’t buy the guns in the first place he wouldn’t be able to do what he did. Why is that so hard to understand? No other arguement matters. If it was against the law for this killer to buy these kind of assault weapons, he wouldn’t be able to shoot anybody because he wouldn’t have been able to buy them. Now as it stands, he can buy it on the internet, without a background check, and without an ID.
The lack of an ID to purchase a gun makes me think. We’re coming up on what I feel is going to be the most important election to date. So…think about this fact: It is easier to buy an assault rifle than it is to vote. How inane is that? You have to have more identification just to exercise your right to vote. But no ID to go out and buy an assault weapon.(!)
Thank you NRA. Is the NRA a group that is for the people, or are they for the group that are making and selling the guns? It’s obvious who they support. And yes, it is obvious that the PTP Party are bought by the NRA, because really, the solution to resolve this issue is simple. The PTP Party knows the solution, but they don’t want that solution, because that solution is against what they want to do politically, against what they are getting paid to play, to advance, what they are paid to do politically.
So they lie about the solution. The solution is simple: Make it illegal to sell these types of weapons. But no, their thought is “Let’s ignore the real solution and let’s pretend there is something else we can do”. The PTP Party are LSOS’s.
I’m done. I like what Moyers has to say:
Bill Moyers: NRA ‘Enabler Of Death’ (VIDEO)
PBS’ Bill Moyers had blistering words for the National Rifle Association in the wake of the deadly shootings in Colorado.
Moyers placed partial blame for the murders in the NRA’s lap in a web video posted over the weekend, calling it “the best friend a killer’s instinct ever had.”
He said that the lobbying of the NRA had made it easier for people like James Holmes, the alleged killer in the Colorado shootings, to obtain their weapons.
“Every year there are 30,000 gun deaths and 300,000 gun-related assaults in the U.S.,” he said. “Firearm violence may cost our country as much as $100 billion a year. Toys are regulated with greater care and safety concerns than guns … we have become so gun loving, so blasé about home-grown violence that in my lifetime alone, far more Americans have been casualties of domestic gunfire than have died in all our wars combined.”
He finished by calling the NRA “the enabler of death — paranoid, delusional, and as venomous as a scorpion.”
Though they did not express themselves with quite his vehemence, Moyers is one of several to call for stricter gun control laws in the days after the shootings.

I agree, there’s no reason to sell assault weapons. I’ve shot them at a firing range, it’s crazy fast and powerful and so not necessary for any type of normal protection or bearing of arms. Though the black market would just carry them for a higher price so how about serious controlling of ALL ammo right from factory to buyer. It would certainly stall sales of 6,000 rounds per purchase, bc you’d have some esplainin’ to do…and it would be based on gun ownership request for ammo (regardless of your skin color, religion or peeni size).

Michelle, that is the sanest argument I have heard. It makes perfect sense.
Zen Lill who cares if the black market would sell them. The black market will sell anything. But that is just another phony dodge by the NRA.
How many people do you know that have connections to that type of a black market?
The likes of a james holmes would not. So making that type of weaponry illegal would effectively take that option away from his sort.
That would effectively eliminate the ability of 98% of the mass murders that occur by demented types like james holmes.

Sunlight Helps Prevent Heart Attacks
Ah, sunlight.
There’s nothing like being outdoors on a summer morning.
What you may not know is that sunshine doesn’t just boost your mood and your vitamin D level—it also may help you ward off a heart attack or minimize the damage that one can cause, according to a new first-of-its-kind study.
I talked to the researchers to find out more about how we can all harness the power of light to brighten our heart health.
I called the study’s lead author, Tobias Eckle, MD, PhD, an associate professor of anesthesiology, cardiology and cell and developmental biology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver.
Dr. Eckle told me that our circadian rhythm—the physical, mental and behavioral changes prompted by light and darkness that occur over each 24-hour period—helps determine the level of a certain protein that can minimize the cell damage and cell death caused by a heart attack.
This protein might even stop a heart attack in its tracks. So Dr. Eckle and his colleagues were eager to see whether exposure to certain kinds of light at a certain time might be effective at boosting levels of this protein.
In the study, researchers divided mice into two groups. One group was exposed to light boxes emitting light that was the same level of brightness as daylight (“bright light”), and others were exposed to regular room lighting (“regular light”). Both groups were exposed to the light first thing in the morning at 6:00 am.
Then the mice were given anesthesia and heart attacks were triggered in them. Researchers found that mice that had been exposed to three hours of “bright light” had three times the amount of the protective protein as the mice that had been exposed to “regular light”—and, incredibly, the “bright light” mice’s hearts had experienced only one-fifth as much damage!
HOW SUNNY ARE THE FINDINGS?
There are, of course, unanswered questions—for example, how the findings might apply to humans and how lasting the benefit of the protein might be.
That said, the results are promising. What’s especially interesting is that it’s the light exposure on the eyes—not the skin—that affects the protein levels, said Dr. Eckle. So humans wearing sunscreen or long sleeves wouldn’t blunt the effect.
SAFE WAYS TO LET IN THE LIGHT
Several forces have conspired over recent decades to keep people out of the sun during the day, such as indoor work and fear of skin cancer.
But many people would be likely to benefit from getting more sunlight exposure as early in the morning as possible.
Here are some safe ways from Dr. Eckle to shed more light on your daily routine…
1. Take a daily walk outdoors, and keep wearing sunscreen. Even 10 to 20 minutes a day is better than nothing.
Since, as I mentioned earlier, it’s the way that light affects your eyes (not your skin) that matters, apply sunscreen—that won’t dampen the benefits. The added exercise will boost your heart health, too.
2. Get sunlight while indoors. Sit near large, bright windows.
3. Use a light therapy box. If you can’t follow either of the first two tips, or if you’re at high risk for skin cancer and want to avoid UV rays at all costs, this may be the best option for you.
Available online for about $50 and up, light therapy boxes mimic the brightness of sunlight while filtering out most damaging UV rays.

Michelle as usual you bring a common sense approach to a problem. You make perfect sense.
How easy it would be to simply take the items being used off the market and to keep records on all weapons purchased.
A national data base would signal any unusually large purchase of ammo also.

Kudos to you Michelle for shinning a light on the lies and manipulative propaganda spread by the NRA.
They own the politicians in my town.
July 24th, 2012 at 10:13 am
Michelle, I agree with you the paid to play politicians here in my state of Pennsylvania are wholly owned by the NRA.
And the tiny penis men are eating up the lie about that 2nd Amendment crap. It enables them to feel like men when they show off their latest assault weapon purchase,

I already have so many firearms I can’t shoot them all. I have a .223 and I personally find anything more than a three round burst is a waste of ammo and loss of accuracy.
I carry concealed and I do not think I’d be any safer with a full auto that holds 20 – 30 round mags.
So I’m just chilling on this article’s subject and will use my time and energy to vote for less restrictions on firearms for law abiding citizens.
At least for now, in California, we all have our practical opinion on such issues and can vote our interests.
July 24th, 2012 at 10:19 am
The problem is some people want to live in the world of special laws for special people, but I certainly don’t.
Michelle, you have nailed the issue. I hope sensible minds will get behind you.

The term “assault weapon” is purely a construct of the groups that want to ban guns in general (it was first used by the Violence Policy Center). It is a cosmetic description of what has become the most popular modern rifle in the country.
The AR-15 style, the most popular, is not really “high powered” as portrayed. In fact, the power of the .223 caliber AR-15 is so low that it is not legal for deer hunting in many parts of the country.
The “assault weapon ban” that was passed during the Clinton Administration did nothing to the crime rate. A Department of Justice study looking at crime rates before and after the ban showed no discernible difference in any measure of the crime, injury or murder rate.
July 24th, 2012 at 10:27 am
I remember when for a while I did not see any assault rifles on baton rouge classifieds a couple of years ago, suddenly all the ads disappeared and I did not know why. A cousin told me about 2010 Senate Bill 6396: Banning the sale of assault weapons.
After a couple of months, then I understood what our government was trying to do. This was good in my opinion, such weapons should not be available to buy from shops.
But now that the law has been defeated, the guns are being sold on line again. It is just plain stupid to allow t our women and children to be threatened by demented murders because the gun manufacturers want to make a few dollars more.
Michelle you were spot on with your comments.
Michael

John you are one of the little dick wonders that Michelle was referring to in her article. Your kind will reach for any rationale to justify buying something to make you feel like a man.
Those weapons that are sold as non assault weapons because a bullet button was added to “prevent” it from being used as the automatic weapon as it was designed to be are a joke.
Every purchaser knows how to deviate that button so they can revert the gun to its assault weapon status.
Yet, men like you John lie. Yes, you are a true LSOS.

I think it’s time for once to just stop complaining. We complain about high crime rates and now we complain about possible gun restriction regulations.
It seems that everything the governement does is wrong when a democrat is the president and the republicans are giving us their spin.
I don’t think it’s always the case. Even if what Michelle suggest may seem imperfect the law she suggest would help build up a better environment for all of us, that’s what she is talking about.
A safer place for all of us. Who wouldn’t want that?
Claude
July 24th, 2012 at 10:43 am
John are you just an idiot or what? The AR-15 is a semi-automatic version of the automatic M-16. The AK-47′s are more than likely semi-automatic rifles, again available to most civilians.
You must really must be in need of some ego “me a man” boost to sign on with the bullshit you just sprouted.
Buy a dildo and stick it in you pants buddy. It will be as effective as you purchasing an AR-15 in making you more manly and less dangerous to the citizenry at large.

Michelle, what you said is no surprise to me…..it’s all about the dollar here in America.
Since this country was stolen away from Native Americans it has been about the money. From Imperialism to Colonialism to slavery….Just like a the Roman Empire it will go down in flames.
July 24th, 2012 at 10:54 am
I agree with you Michelle. These stupid gun laws did not happen because some believe in not having any restrictions on a “free” market, that is really only “free” to the uber wealthy, or even because of some who fear “gun control” .
These laws occur because NRA and PTP decided they wanted something for nothing. In otherwords they were being greedy and wanted money the money they are paid by the gun manufacturers.
That type of behavior should make any “free” market enthusiast feel all warm and fuzzy, after all, they are so excited to have a crew in congress that will no doubt give Wall Street exactly what it wants, the ability to act greedy!

AK47s and AR15s (Semi-Automatic) are not typical weapons used by hunters. Yet you can buy these weapons at any gun show or gun store.
It is pure avarice that motivates the NRA to push the idea of selling this type of man killing power to anyone without any restrictions.
Michelle, your approach should be the law of the land. I have only been a fan for two months, but the more I read you, the more I admire and respect what you are trying to do with your blog.
If I am ever in California, I will make it a point to try to get an appointment to meet with you in San Francisco. You are more than beautiful physically, you are beautiful mentally as well.

Doris, I didn’t say I didn’t agree, and I know you can get anything on the black market, that’s the point.
If it’s available at all it will definitely still get in the hands of the John’s of this nation AND that wonder child with the bozo hair looking all remorseful today…AFTER he took out a crowd with an automatic weapon. It, a law, would make it tougher to get them even the black market way, but where there’s a will there’s a way.
I’m all for the laws to be sure, just sayin’ – the NRA has serious clout with rethugs and Christians who are always trying to ‘protect my own’ (from what? More of ‘your own’, that’s what) so laws passed by LSOS’s to protect you and I from other LSOS’s – hmm, what are the chances?
In a word: slim.
They’d confiscate and/or ‘collect’ all the auto weapons (and ship em’ direct to black marketers, quick, dicey and pricey)
So, if you cannot get a law for banning automatic weapons, why not control the flow of ammo, it’s just a suggestion, you can’t shoot anything without the rounds…

Zen Lill, I’ve been in law enforcement a very long time. I can tell you from personal experience that it is very difficult to get your hands on a weapon that is illegal.
The kind of people who purchase lethal weapons because they are legal and then use them to commit mass murder are not the kind to have the means or resources, or patience to buy an illegal weapon.
Think about it. Hand guns are legal, but how difficult is it to get your hands on the kind of hand gun professional criminals use to kill and toss? Most ordinary citizens use the fire arms they purchased themselves. Hence it is relatively easy for law enforcement to trace the weapon once it is found.
The lie that anyone can get their hands on an illegal weapon is the big lie pushed by the NRA so that they can convince the naive that it is easy to get one, so they need to buy a legal one to protect themselves.
It is just another lie. Don’t fall for it and please, since your father was a police officer, don’t repeat it. You will only be helping those greedy gun pushers to encourage people to buy cop killers.

Zen Lill I like your idea of controlling the bullets. I remember a comic, I think it was Chris Rock that made a joke about if bullets were expensive people would not shoot other people so much.
It occurred to me then that it would be a good idea to control the bullets. Nice thinking lady.

Perry, I’ll say ‘point taken’ although its exactly bc you and my dear departed daddy were in law enforcement I would only say, OK have it your way, though I know for a fact my father did not work in gang prevention, do you? I’m only asserting that perhaps you’re correct in that white killings like CO might not happen as readily but it perhaps leaves at risk peeps even further at risk, such as gang members – there’s a lot of gang members here in LA who most certainly could connect with illegal weapons, (and some of them are really trying to get out of the life). It is a good start to ban/make illegal, I agree, though I tend to think things through from a place of of ecology, how does this one thing effect everything within it’s realm (or out of its immediate realm for that matter).
I won’t assert anything else, you all know better than I, just giving my counterpoint here as usual bc life is messy and if things were so easy as to just ban or make something illegal and it all goes away – well, that, is living in utopia and I am IN.
Stone, thanks, and perhaps I heard Chris Rock’s joke and it stuck in my head to be called out yesterday, but I don’t recall hearing it. And like in so many other matters, CR calls it like he sees it, so do I, and yup – it’d get expensive to kill people charging by the bullet. Love the name.

David Gergen, CNN Analyst, Reveals Extent Of Bain Capital Ties While ‘Reporting’ On Firm
====================
I always thought Gergen was an upright reporter and man..
but now he’s nothing more than a “Bain man” masquering as a journalist to make sure Bain, Romney & his cronies continue to bankrupt companies, pay people little to nothing, fire people and outsource their jobs outside the US and make huge amounts of money from the taxpayers and the other fools they sold the scraps of people lives to.

First of all, Bush bailed out those banks. The 100+ billion of Bush money Obama gave them he got back in full. And those banks were bailed out cuz they would’ve dragged down the whole country.
Who did you think was going to cover all of the people’s money in those banks? The FDIC was already busted. Not to mention all of the businesses that rely on these banks for payroll, loans, etc. That 400+ billion bailout was peanuts compared to what could’ve been. Nobody liked bailing them out, there was just no other way.
As far as heath care goes, there was no mistake in the law. If those people don’t get the HC coverage they need, it’s because the GOP refused to take the money and provide it. Why are you crying about people being covered anyway, the POS GOP will provide nothing to 10x the amount of people.
As far as the economy goes, where’s the Romney / GOP plan to fix it? Go look at the GOP’s job bills, bank deregulation, drill holes & spew toxic waste. That’ll create millions of jobs alright. Obama already has oil rigs at a 25 year high, where’s the lower unemployment from it?
Regardless of what you & the wing-nut GOP say, Obama has put over 3 million people back to work and kept many people from losing their homes. Romney wanted to throw them all out & let the market bottom. You shouldn’t criticize Obama when Romney & neo-cons offer zilch.

Hello,
Unfortunately The only people that gun laws have an effect on are law abiding citizens. The crimminal or the person intent on going on some kind of spree dosen’t care about the law. Yes iys true that you can make it ‘harder’ for some person to get a hold of a large capacity magazine or an assault weapon, but you will not keep him or her from getting it eventually. So I guess by making it harder you ‘may’ get the chance to thwart the plan, but then again maybe not. Gun laws make lawfull people criminals by way of ignorance. Happened to my father. He had WWII trophies that he brought back years ago. Never thought twice about them. They were locked in a safe and sat there for 50 years. Our house was broken into and during the investigation the police asked to have access to the safe. Bingo! Was it a jailable offence? No, eventually it all got worked out, however it made my pop a crimminal, a person whom has never broken the law in his life. It isnt going to work. I am not an NRA supporter. I believe they are just a tool used by big corp and politians and do nothing about our rights in actuality. We have to figure out what makes people do what they do and the communities where these people live need to watch for signs and pay attention to things around them. This is not a fool proof way either obviously, but society is creating these folks and I for one see society becoming more and more selfcentered and apathetic..ignore it and maybe it will go away…mantra prevails. Just my two and a half.
