Scalia’s Scary Statement
Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 8th, 2012
Good morning!
This man has got to go. Scalia is such an idiot. This is his latest ridiculous remark…that I know of.
Scalia Suggests ‘Hand-Held Rocket Launchers’ Are Protected Under Second Amendment
By Zack Ford on Jul 29, 2012 at 10:26 am

This morning on Fox News Sunday, Justice Antonin Scalia reiterated just how extremely his Constitutional originalism can be applied. Referring to the recent shooting in Aurora, CO, host Chris Wallace asked the Supreme Court Justice about gun control, and whether the Second Amendment allows for any limitations to gun rights. Scalia admitted there could be, such as “frighting” (carrying a big ax just to scare people), but they would still have to be determined with an 18th-Century perspective in mind. According to his originalism, if a weapon can be hand-held, though, it probably still falls under the right to “bear arms”:
WALLACE: What about… a weapon that can fire a hundred shots in a minute?
SCALIA: We’ll see. Obviously the Amendment does not apply to arms that cannot be hand-carried — it’s to keep and “bear,” so it doesn’t apply to cannons — but I suppose here are hand-held rocket launchers that can bring down airplanes, that will have to be decided.
WALLACE: How do you decide that if you’re a textualist?
SCALIA: Very carefully.
Watch it:
Scalia’s across-the-board defense of weapon-carrying laws is not new, having been at the heart of his majority opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller, which protected an individual’s right to possess firearms. However, his nonchalant suggestion that private citizens could legally carry rocket launchers so long as they’re “hand-held” suggests just how willing he is to protect an armed nation.
Such originalism is a dangerous distortion of 21st-Century reality. There is no conceivable way to apply the Founding Fathers’ understanding of a ”well-regulated militia” armed with slow-to-load, hard-to-aim muskets to today’s weapon technology. Arguably, the full extent of alleged gunman James Holmes’ munitions could have easily decimated an entire brigade of musketeers before they’d even loaded their first ball.
******
Readers: I can’t believe that Scalia is in the position of making decisions that affects the lives of 350,000,000 Americans. Like I said, this man has got to go. His time is way up. Come on…hand-held rocket launchers? With ridiculous statements such as the above, is there any wonder he decided that “Citizens United” was good law? And thanks to the likes of him and the rest of the “Stark” / “Karts” clan, whichever way you moniker it, the results are the same: Now billionaires can buy elections on the local, State, and National level at will because they can make unlimited contributions.
Let’s see…our elections can now be bought by the bills, and crazy people can go around throwing hand-held rocket launchers at will because idiots like Scalia take textualism to the literal limits.
This is very scary. What’s next?
ZL: Thanks for your call. I was out that night. I’ll try you in the evening this week.
Howie: I can’t say that I am “enjoying” the story of Tsarme. Although I find it fascinating as I do most of your telling tales, I HOPE that the anomalies get diffused and more importantly, Tsarme is safe and back to his normal self. it seems there is lots going on out there and the TAO have their hands full.
I wonder if you can inquire about any news with respect to Adam, AH and Bita. They’ve been absent from here for awhile. I HOPE you are well.
Matt: Your statement is obvious and goes without saying – but I guess not to the ignorant.
Mike, TM: Nice to hear from you. Thanks so much for the keeping the scoops going here.
Peace out.

The continuing saga of Tsarme.
The physician from Krijo arrived and informed the TAO that Tsarme was not physically in any danger because he was not injured physically. His condition of not being able to morph into other forms was caused by a lack of memory.
The transfusion given to him by Tony caused a total memory lapse. One that would not return because Tony’s blood healed by reversing the age process of Tsarme.
Tsarme’s people develop their morph ability as human children learn to walk. While it is a muscle and bone action they have to learn the coordination required to be able to stand and walk. If a child lost the memory of learning that coordination it would have to relearn it. That is the position Tsarme is in.
Tsarme will have to learn to morph all over again. The physician has set up the process for that to begin. She says that Tsarme should be able to morph again in about 6 to 10 weeks, but that his memory that was erased by the age regression caused by Tony’s blood making him younger will never return.
I will keep you informed of further developments.

You were so right man. But Michelle you are a bit mistaken those racists know the situation. But they feign ignorance to spew froth their bigotry in the form of opinion.
That station fox is at it again this time saying the worst things possible about Serena’s dance when she won.
=====================
Fox Sports’ Reid Forgrave, who went on to criticize Williams:
And there was Serena — the tennis legend, the winner of 14 individual Grand Slams, the best player of her generation, the American girl being crowned at the All-England Club as the queen of tennis — Crip-Walking all over the most lily-white place in the world.
She didn’t do it on purpose. It was a moment of unbridled joy. She pumped her fist, jumped up and down, looked into the crowd, then did her ill-timed dance.
You couldn’t help but shake your head. It was as if Serena just couldn’t seem to avoid dipping into waters of controversy even as she’d ascended to the top of her sport.
==================
” couldn’t help but shake your head” that would be what you would be doing if you were a racist hypocrite.
————————-
dipping into waters of controversy” the controversy being she was an uppity N not knowing her place was to just entertain masser, not to consider herself a part of the celebration.
===============
Then there was this from Another Fox Sports reporter, Jason Whitlock, downplayed the so-called controversy, saying: “What Serena did was akin to cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church… Serena deserved to be called out. What she did was immature and classless. She made a mistake, something we all do.”
—————————-
“”What Serena did was akin to cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church” – So what makes Wimbledon as sacred as a church? Must be the white boy’s opinion because I can’t think of anything else that would do it.
Hmm…Gabby, Serena….pretty transparent pattern from Fox and its crowd.
Despicable way to treat our champions who bring home the gold. Sigh..

I see Fat Tony’s been hitting the bottle again . .
August 8th, 2012 at 4:14 pm
Michelle, This would be funny if this wasn’t what passes for intellectual leadership on the right.
August 8th, 2012 at 4:15 pm
Is that fat slob fucking crazy or what? Just imagine…a shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missile launched at a fully-loaded jumbo jet…
August 8th, 2012 at 4:17 pm
So white folk, you don’t like the dance. This reminds me of Ebonics when black youth was teaching white folk to upgrade their vocabulary by adding clever phraseology to their conversational language. It was terrible until the lame bastards learned to use the words and terms.
Now it is as if it was always a part of our vernacular. Rap is now embraced by the white boy as an art. Diss, that’s how we roll, etc are used the world over. Just like America’s music and other arts. Without us these white bastards would still be doing the shit they came over here with from Europe.
Just wait when the white boy learns the steps to the Crib’s dance, it will be viewed as WONDERFUL especially if they can get an emenem to steal it and claim it was his idea.
I get this angry because the so called good white boy sits back and allows our OTW daughters who went over there and busted their asses for their country to be vilified by the racist at fox and elsewhere.

Makes absolutely no sense to me.
What is there not to understand about the words ‘well regulated’?
August 8th, 2012 at 4:34 pm
This douche will protect a “right” to kill but not a six year old girls right to live.
August 8th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Hey, Scalia can I have a hand held nuke, then?
August 8th, 2012 at 4:37 pm
Morris, As long as it fits into a suitcase, Scalia would probably be OK with that.
August 8th, 2012 at 4:38 pm
I assume, then, that you fully support the right of Americans to
carry live grenades around with them anywhere they want, right? And switchblade knives and such??
August 8th, 2012 at 4:42 pm
Well…WTF?
First…what the hell is a Justice of the Supreme Court doing on a talk show? Worse yet,
something on the ClusterFuxs channel???
Why is it that these crazy gun types, never mention the “militia” part of the amendment?
August 8th, 2012 at 5:56 pm
The fact that Republicans perfer NOT to have voters registered demonstrates that they actually don’t favor majority rule, and want to protect the vested interests of their wealth political base.
August 8th, 2012 at 5:58 pm
want every legal vote to count, but it’s outrageous to use taxpayer dollars to register welfare recipients as part of a special effort to boost one political party over another.
WOW! You can’t make this sh*t up!
August 8th, 2012 at 5:59 pm
Why don’t they do it in Arizona and all of the sanctuary cities…enforce the law…They pick and choose what they want to enforce to get them elected…..How bout enforcing the constitution for a change?
August 8th, 2012 at 6:02 pm
There’s little doubt that Romney knows that close scrutiny of his tax returns, since let’s say 2001, would make him unelectable; the Independent vote would greatly favor Obama when IT hit the fan.
We already elected Nixon without realizing how crooked he was; there’s no good reason to elect someone who who refuses to release his tax returns. He’s hiding something. I don’t trust him.
Food for thought:
Would a Romney victory in November signal the beginning of a Bain-style takeover of the US?
Maybe add a few more trillions in ‘debt’ (tax-breaks and favorable rates for the rich) then file for bankruptcy?
Hmmmm… It sure would be convenient to have a ton of cash, in foreign currencies, in off-shore accounts when the bankruptcy goes down. Just sayin’.
August 8th, 2012 at 6:05 pm
It is scary to think that a Supreme Court justice understands the Constitution so little. Scalia is simply a disaster.
If there were a way to impeach a sitting SC justice, he would get my first nomination, with Justice Thomas a close second. Neither one of them has any right to serve on the highest court in the country.

Coffee Drinkers Live Longer
Coffee has already been shown by numerous studies to do plenty of wonderful things for your body.
For example, it’s well-known that coffee boosts concentration and reduces the risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, liver disease, Parkinson’s disease, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.
New research takes this good news a step further, showing that coffee lowers the risk for death from a wide variety of major diseases. In fact, it’s the largest study to ever look at the link between coffee and health.
After hearing about that report, my main question was, how many cups do you really have to drink to potentially tack on years to your life? Is it a practical amount…or one of those absurd laboratory amounts that you often see in studies?
BREWING HEALTH BENEFITS
At the start of the study, researchers at the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland, gave questionnaires to more than 400,000 men and women ages 50 to 71 and asked them to report their coffee intake.
They noted whether they drank mostly caffeinated or decaf coffee, what type (regular ground, instant, espresso, etc.) and whether they added products such as cream or sugar.
Results:
Regardless of the drink’s caffeine content, the way the coffee was made or how much milk and/or sugar was used, the more coffee that people drank—up to about five cups a day—
the lower their risk for death at the end of the 13-year study from health problems including heart disease, respiratory conditions, diabetes, stroke and infection.
Check out this chart…
Coffee per day Reduced risk of dying
8 ounces 5% to 6%
16 to 24 ounces 10% to 13%
32 to 40 ounces 12% to 16%
48 ounces or more 10% to 15%
Alas—no association was seen between coffee and death from cancer.
Results differed a little bit between men and women, with the association being slightly stronger for women than men.
MO’ JOE, ANYONE?
When I spoke with lead researcher Neal D. Freedman, PhD, a cancer prevention fellow at the National Cancer Institute, he noted that coffee’s association with a lower death risk doesn’t mean that a cause-and-effect relationship between the two was established.
And it’s impossible, at this point, to know exactly what properties of coffee may be helpful in preventing death.
Coffee’s most famous constituent is caffeine, of course, but in reality coffee contains more than 1,000 compounds, including antioxidants and many others. Any of these could play a role.
Back in the mid-1990s, when the study began, a typical cup of coffee out on the street was actually a cup—about eight ounces.
But with the rise of specialty coffee shops, today’s “cup” is more like two or three cups.
(Starbucks’ “venti” large size for a hot beverage, for example, is 20 ounces or two and one-half cups—and for a cold beverage, it’s 24 ounces or three cups.)
So if you’re downing a few of today’s “mega-cups” of coffee each day, you’re getting more ounces than you might realize.
But that seems fine. In some people, lots of coffee can lead to side effects, such as the jitters and insomnia—but this study suggests that there’s perhaps also a fantastic benefit to America’s big coffee habit.
Comment below to share how you make the perfect brew!

There is only a Constitution for white Christian folks, the Tea Party will tell you that.
August 8th, 2012 at 7:47 pm
What does the GOP have against democracy? We will no longer be one if we don’t allow all eligible citizens register and vote.
The right is trying to game the system any way they can. They seem to prefer this tact over actually coming up with any real policies, ideas, other that tax cuts for the already very wealthy.
August 8th, 2012 at 7:50 pm
I am sure our Forefathers that authored the constitution did not have the insight to the future of advanced weaponry….and btw, they did have cannons. Scalia is such a nitwit jackass!!
August 8th, 2012 at 8:05 pm
Wow Michelle, this guy is mad. He is taking a literal, I mean ultra literal, approach to reading only hand held. So if im strong enough to fire a drum feed mini-gun I can. It’s so stupid I can’t even believe it.
What must poetry sound like to this fool? If he reaches a stop sign does he just sit there until it says go. some one must really be making a mint off him to be willing pay his way here because i cant imagine how he became a supreme court justice in any other way.
August 8th, 2012 at 9:56 pm
I don’t believe this is coincidental. He makes this statement even as more and more rightwing militias, vigilantes, and Sovereign Citizens are arming themselves for what they call a coming race war…
and very rich men, who have been fielding private artillery a long time, dare to parade it openly down the streets of small towns.
You may suppose that if leftist groups, or minority groups, or OTWS doing likewise, he’d be singing a whole different tune.
Does he own a copy of “The Turner Diaries”? And did his ancestors come over on the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria together with Cristoforo Colombo and the ancestral Tancredos?
August 8th, 2012 at 10:03 pm
When I read the headline, my reaction was “You HAVE got to be kidding!” Rocket launchers? I could see launching rockets for science… penetrating and probing tornadoes, for instance, or something like that – and I’m sure that there would be a way to get something like that licensed.
I can’t think of a single self-defense use for a rocket launcher. I could barely think of a reason for an automatic weapon – after all, bullies like to travel and attack in packs (the singular schoolyard bully doesn’t fit reality as well as people think).
That’s stretching it, however. A semi-automatic is sufficient for just about any situation a person can expect (considering worst-case scenarios).
The logic I know behind the 2nd amendment is self-defense… whether against individuals or against tyrants. This (IMO) converts self-defense into right of ownership of property, and it doesn’t make sense.
I think that they may be trying a different tack on the constitution… redefining things in terms of possessions and ownership.
That would go along with the Republican mindset, and might (in their minds) strengthen the “right” of the rich to profit at the expense of everyone else.
August 8th, 2012 at 10:04 pm
I am not a fan of Scalia, but this article severely distorts what he said. The video clip posted on this page clearly stating that non-handheld weapons are clearly not covered by the second amendment, but handheld rocket launchers will have to be decided on. He never stated which way he would side on the issue.

Carlos & RobertRt, too true, I watched Serena’s dance and tonight I saw Misty my vball fave do a white girl victory dance, sorry there was/is no diff to me, they all deserved to do whatever dance they wanted to – they grabbed the freaking gold! I cannot even imagine what dance I would do if I snagged the gold, in fact my BF and I sat here throwing out things we could possibly snag the gold for : D
Fux just can’t wait to run commentary on anything that doesn’t support their world view which we all know is very skewed, to say the least, and very heavily racist to say the obvious…
Misch, missed your call bc it’s my BF’s b’day, was going to call after dinner but we decided to watch the girls snag gold. I’ll try to catch up w/you tomorrow.
