Do You Know Who Your Purchases Are Supporting?

Good morning!
I realize that in this day and age, we all need to be very conscious of the choices we make. We all need to look at what we’re eating…what’s going in these precious bodies of ours. So we read labels of the food we plan to eat. And just the other day we all got into a discourse about the toxic “ingredients” found in clothing made in China, and how it affects our health. And it doesn’t end there.
Now with the election only a few months away, we really need to be conscious of the products and services that we use that support the party that we want to support, and more importantly to not buy products and services that support the party that we don’t want to support.
Awhile ago, I found out that Lifelock supported Rush Limbaugh by continuing to advertise on his show even after all the horrible things Limbaugh said with respect to Sandra Fluke. I cancelled but they owed me money. Now that my money has been refunded, I told them exactly why I left their company.
By now you all know what side of the fence I support. Here’s a short write that I found that exposes the consumer brands that help bankroll right-wing attack ads.

Have you eaten at White Castle recently? Or caught a movie at Regal Cinemas?
If so, you may be unwittingly helping finance right-wing attack ads.
That’s because many of the country’s most common brands are run by rich conservatives who are using their personal wealth to bankroll outside spending groups that are running attack ads smearing progressives. From Marriott Hotels to Brawny paper towels, and from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Coachella music festival, corporate executives at these organizations have given millions of dollars to groups like Mitt Romney’s Super PAC Restore Our Future.
Some corporations, like Waffle House, give direct donations to conservative attack ad groups like Karl Rove’s American Crossroads.
The following list of consumer brands either have leaders who wrote checks to outside right-wing attack ad groups or gave money directly from the corporation. Only entities that gave $25,000 or more were included in this guide.

We all know that this campaign has been quite negative, from both sides. David Axelrod has said that President Obama has run a pretty clean, positive campaign. But as many of us know, that simply hasn’t been the case. Even in 2008, President Obama said he wouldn’t run negative ads. Looks like he isn’t heeding his own advice.

I was always taught not to use the word hate. That somehow that word went just enough too far for you to be able to take it back and that there were other words that could better describe your feelings. (parents were writers and it was all about words . . . all the time . .. and grammar . .. )
Sorry I digressed. But when it comes to THAT man, I can honestly say I hate him. I hate him (and Rummy) for giving us Bush on a silver platter and then manipulating him to start two wars, kills thousands of our young people, maim tens of thousands more and still rape the VA budget. I hate him for his outing of Valerie Plame.
We will never know what damage that caused. Ever. I hate him for his shenanigans on the domestic front. He is draconian about budgets and makes the TP look charitable.
All the while, he has made $100′s of millions of dollars off of the aforementioned with his “blind trust” and Halliburton stock. And he has no regret, no remorse, no reflection. He is the devil personified.

How desperate is the Right? Now they have come up with a group that says that the first documented slave in the United States was John Bunch, and he was Obama’s ancestor form his mother’s side. In other words his mother is black also.
Interesting that the white boy has to find a way to say that one of Obama’s ancestors was a slave since his father’s side has always been a free African.
Oh, and don’t miss the fact that they are saying that it came from his mother’s side so she is a “N” too.
Finally I leave it to you that the company that “found” this connection is a company owned by the Mormon Church.

Jesus, how stupid do white people think we are? I live in New Orleans and it wasn’t until the late 90″s that we Creoles could choose to be white if we wanted to.
The white bastards here used to keep nazi rolls that checked everyone who wanted to claim that he/she was white to see it there were one 32nd chance of them having black blood. If they did they could not claim to be white on their LA drivers license or any legal document in the state.

Interesting isn’t it that when white presidents have their ancestry checked we discovered that they OWNED black slaves, but no suggestion of any black ancestry.
Only Obama’s white side were OWNED. I guess since it is well documented that his father is from Kenya and none of his relatives were brought to America as slaves the next thing to try is to go after his mother.
But wait, the research of the company was checked by a licensed researcher, someone the credentials of a member of SCOTUS, like scalia and she approved the research as accurate.

So, this means that Morgan Freeman was wrong. President Obama has “black” family roots from the “white” side of his family. Many Caucasian American today have African-American ancestry and they don’t know it.
A blonde haired blue eyes African American man wrote over 50 years ago: “that every year thousands of Caucasian looking Negroes crossed over and pretended to be Caucasian.” Now their descendants have no clue about their ancestry.
If you are suspicious about your ancestry take off your clothes and if you see certain parts of your body (especially between your legs) looks darker than other parts; there is a chance you have an ancestor that was of African descent.

It is certainly convenient. Based on “…a lot of context and circumstanial evidence…”. It is nearly as likely that Obama is not related to this person. One missed fork in the family tree six generations ago and one can go off the mark. It is very easy to do in geneology.

Credible or not, the research reveals one crucial detail that will make the racists’ heads explode and shatter!
It’s this – There were many African families that intermarried or intermingled with white families, and some were able to ‘pass for white’.

The first slaves on this earth was the jews but nobody has ever cared about that they worked harder than ny other slaves in this world.
And from the 1600′s to the 1800′s there wee white slaves but you nobody was ever taught about the jews are the white slaves we were only taught about the black slaves.

Mexicans are not slaves like someoe said they had and have a choice to work for the pay they got. They didn’t have to work for that pay they could say no it was and is their choice they were not beaten and handcuffed like the slaves were.
All three slaves the jews,whites and blacks were treated very commonly. They were stolen, cuffed,and beaten.
I have researched all this years ago so that is how I know and if you google all three of them you will see that blacks were not the only slaves and were not the first ones either.

And one thing that still confuses me since our President was elected is how everyone forgets he is also white. His mother was white, his maternal grandparents were white. Why is only his blackness an issue? I don’t understand it.
People who say “Yes!! We finally have a black President” and “finally, our time has come”…etc. are the ones keeping racism alive.
The fact that Mr Obama avoided the race issue as much as possible during his campaign said volumes…he is neither all black, nor all white…He is an American….period.
And I voted for him, because by the end of the campaign, I beleived he was the best man for the job…and since he took over office, I’m even more sure of it.
I don’t consider President Obama an african american…nor a caucasion american….just an american.

Also, slavery is a part of America’s history, all be it a shameful part, but that is what it is…history. This is a lie and i can prove it. i have worked at the LOC for 15 yrs and i know that this is a lie. However, it is true of John Mccain ..Barak is an African american because under US law if u have 1/8 black blood that makes you a descendant of Africans.
In Baraks case he has an African father whose genes are stronger thatn his mothers which is why he looks like an african american in color and demeanor..(he is no wimp).
We also know that Baraks dad had 4 wives and that one (Baraks real bio mom) came to amerikkka with him gave birth to Barak before she died and he later married the white woman from Kansas who raised him.

I just heard about TJ Holmes former CNN anchor being stopped by Atlanta police. He was stopped because the officer wanted to know if he had insurance on his car.
That is not a legal stop.
When a black man reports this, white men will immediately attempt to shut him up by accusing him of “playing the race card.” Now you let that same piece of shit feel that he is the victim of not being able to buy a big automatic gun. Does he want to listen to being called out on playing the 2nd Amendment call.
These pussies could take the abuse black men have come to take for granted by white police men out to prove they are the boss.
The second thing the white boy advices is to shut up and show your insurance papers. They can say that with ease because they know that they will never have to experience that type of indignation.

I am a white woman who has experienced the frustration and anger a black man experiences when a cop makes one of those insulting harassing stops.
I am glad Mr. Holmes tweeted that and I hope it is followed by an apology from the police. Many black men who don’t have the influence or ability to pay for lawyers that he has experience that hateful practice every day.
Being pulled over to make sure you have insurance is complete and utter Bullshit. We need more accountability when it comes to the police. Again, glad he documented the experience.
How understanding it is for whites to want another to accept treatment they don’t have to experience.

Fortunately it happened to a high profile, well-connected black man this time, rather than the usual poor black youth. At least he’ll be able to follow up and call the cops out on their racial profiling.
As he tweeted, he’s far from the only person this happens to. And an inconvenient traffic stop is far from the worst fate that targets of racial profiling meet.

Minor correction: Prince George’s county is in Maryland. Prince William County is in VA (I’ve had family in PW for most of my life).
To the greater point: the fact that this happens seems like a great example of the institutionalization of racism, where it’s the institutions of society which propagate the oppression, where getting “enlightened” individuals in the institutions isn’t sufficient, the institutions themselves need reform to ensure that they break that cycle.

I once got stopped by a police officer while walking to work. He said he was trying to get to know the neighborhood…I wouldn’t consider Portland, Oregon a “neighborhood.”
He stopped me again a month later on the same route to work. I immediately recognized him and said “Hey, I remember you. You stopped me not long ago, you were introducing yourself to the neighborhood…remember me?” He turned and ran back to his car. Fucking pricks!

So no, I’m not getting what the point of your story is. The fact is, the more beat cops that are actually WALKING on the street, talking to people, getting to know residents, business owners, etc. the better it is for everyone involved.

Scalia is fuming with the NRA because they have dissed his son. He is also pissed that they did not pick up his book by purchasing the 500,000 and using them as a bonus to those who re-up or take a new subscription to a NRA membership.
In addition his son, the lawyer, has fell out of “favorite son” status with the NRA. That means the firm he works for is losing business. Scalia has shown in the pass that he is not patient with those that short change his son.
Hence, Scalia is playing the blackmail card via he could see a limited 2nd Amendment Clause. He is making the rounds with news media telling them that he sees the possibility of limiting the gun rights of citizens based on the arguments he is presented.
You see the blackmail here? I like it. I think the NRA will fall in line and pay up. Then you will see the BAPF Scalia double down on the absoluteness of the 2nd Amendment as he did for us on the Citizens United issue.

I’m walking to work through a parking lot (Beaverton, Oregon: Fred Meyers on Hillsdale Hwy). Local police officer pulls into the lot and parks about 100 feet from me. Gets out and calls to me and asks what I was doing.
I say “I’m walking to work, is there a problem?”
Cop: I’m just getting to know the people around the neighborhood.
Me: Ok…I just moved here about 6 months ago, I’m from Miami.” I hand him my ID.
He looks at my ID and asks me where I work. I proceed to show him my (Pizzicato Uniform) and say “just one block away from here. The pizza shop on the corner.”
Cop: Really? Never heard of it.
Me: Ok…
Cop: All right man, here you go. Have a nice day. (Hand me back the ID, turns and jumps in his car)
Me: That’s it?
ONE MONTH LATER:
Walking to work same route except this time I’m on the other side of the street. Police vehicle passes me and pulls into a gas station just a few hundred feet in front of me. I’m already thinking, “great, these cops are really friendly around here.”
SARCASM!!
Same officer gets out his car and I immediately recognize him. This time I’m trying to get a look a his name tag as I say “Hey man, what’s up? Remember me? I just moved here from florida.”
He says “I stopped you before?” Turns his head to the side to get a better a look at me. quickly turns back to his car and speeds off.
Both times he was in his cruiser. There are a ton of different neighborhoods in Portland, show me one cop that knows every person in their districts/hood. For fucks sake are you serious?
That guy wasn’t looking for friend. He was looking for somebodies outstanding warrant or nickel bag. Are you that fucking naive, do you honestly think cops aren’t corrupt?
They don’t try to bend the system every once in while.
I’d have to be a fool to think that cop was trying to be my friend.

EVERY time he drove to Georgia to see his grandmother, he was stopped by Georgia police or the highway patrol.

My husband worked with a young man–a truck driver–who bought himself a new fast Pontiac a few years ago. He recently saw his friend in a mall parking lot. The car looked new still.
Friend said he could only drive it when his family was with him, because if he ventured out alone, police stopped him every time. Yes, it happens in Little Rock.

50 is more common than 40 and the posted limit is 35.
As I pass the stragglers going below 40 it is one of 3 classes of people. Cell phone/texters, old ladies, or black guys.
The cell phoners hack me off, the old ladies I just smile since my momma ended up going really slow before she handed in her license.
But then the black guys make me sad because i sure as hell can’t blame them for going exactly 35. I would hate to have to figure extra time for “insurance checks” into my commute time estimate.

I’ve had eyes for going on 57 years. I don’t need to see police reports or incident logs, I see who gets pulled over in Fort Baptist and it sure ain’t old white men like me….I’ve become invisible to the police, damn it feels good too!
There’s also a lot of Driving While Hispanic going on too. Pick On The Poor, Pick On The Weak, Pick On The Different has been going on for centuries and I don’t know a cure except for these people who are often stopped for Driving While…unless they can morph themselves into old white people.
You have to be mean to be a cop, you just have to be and being a cop just makes you meaner, it just must. Mean people have less regard for others and when you’re really an “other” heaven help ya.
Having Obama in the White House, even if it’s just for one term will help this Driving While…situation in the decades to come but the idea of a non-white in the White House is just too new at the moment to help people like T.J. Holmes much less those “others” who are poor and driving rattletraps.
In the mean mean time, by all means have all yer papers at the ready at all times, drive the speed limit, train yourself to be church type respectful when stopped and maybe just maybe you can avoid your own Rodney King moment.

Probable cause used to mean more than an open excuse to presume guilt, search, loot, oppress. At least it did for some… that’s true for very very few now of any color… and even then it’s largely after the fact… with/depending on money.

An anecdotal observation, but one thing I’ve noticed driving through the South is the sheer number of police on the road.
Not sure how anyone commits a crime with seemingly so many cops out and about. The deeper the South, the greater the count.
The darker the local population, the more checkpoints. The lighter the population, the more patrols.

In most places, insurance, registration, and seatbelts are secondary or tertiary offenses to whatever the real reason is (usually speeding, following too close, or changing lanes without signaling).
Pulling over a TV host is probably not real smart unless it is Limbaugh and you catch him with his drug cache.
