Purging People From Voting

Good morning!

Mike, TM: Thanks for your opinion. The truth is so simply said. What more is there to say? Except additionally, as you and others have pointed out, it doesn’t really matter since the repubs are planning on stealing the election no matter who is running with Romney. Run with satan, or whoever, - the racists will vote white no matter. And just in case they fear the racists won’t pull through, they’ll just cover their ass and try to steal the election. The important word here is “try”. I’m HOPEing and expecting that those on Obama’s team and in support of him will prevent the thieves from success. I plan on doing my best.

I HOPE all is well in your world. Oh…I just went to the gas station yesterday and noticed that gas hiked up over .20 cents more per gallon than it was just a few days ago, I’m pretty sure. The rise in my opinion has already begun. Thanks for the notification. I HOPE it doesn’t get much worse.

Speaking of the election, stealing the votes isn’t the only way to ensure a win. Preventing those who are likely to vote for Obama is another way. Here’s the latest (?) on disenfranchisement:

New Analysis: Voter Purges Disproportionately Remove Minorities, Seniors, Young People

John Lewis being beaten by state troopers, March 7, 1965

John Lewis being beaten by state troopers, March 7, 1965

Catalist, a company that provides voting list data to progressive organizations, is among the closest observers of changes to voting rolls around the country. In analysis shared with ThinkProgress, the company observes that since November 2008, certain groups of living residents have been far more likely to be purged from the voting roles than others.

Their data suggests that beyond the wide variation in purge rates across states, there is significant variation within states:

In many states, certain parts of the state electorate, both geographically and demographically, are much more likely to be dropped off of the voter rolls than others. More specifically, some general trends that we see are focused on:
a. Urbanity – cities are getting disproportionately purged
b. Race – minorities are getting disproportionately purged
c. Marital Status – unmarried people are getting disproportionately purged
d. Age – younger (< 40 years old) and older (> 65 years old) voters are purged more frequently than middle-aged voters
e. County effects – there are big differences across county lines, pointing to sharp discontinuities based on arbitrary political boundaries that do not correspond with inherent behavioral differences

Catalist notes that more than 2.7 million living people who voted in 2008 have since been purged from the voter rolls. Among those, African American voters are “1.5 times more likely to be purged than Caucasian voters, nationally.”

These findings are consistent with what we have seen in Florida with Gov. Rick Scott’s (R) error-riddled purge attempts. A Miami Herald analysis showed that “Hispanic, Democratic and independent-minded voters [were] the most likely to be targeted” by that effort.

Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), who led the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee’s efforts in the 1960s to ensure voting rights for all Americans, said last month that these purges of eligible voters from the rolls make him “want to just cry, after people gave a little blood, after some people were beaten, shot and murdered trying to help people become registered voters.” He lamented that “states throughout the nation come along with tactics to make it hard, to make it difficult for people to participate. We should be making it easy and simple and open up the political process and let all of the people come in.”

Instead, Scott and others are pushing efforts that may make it impossible for these millions of U.S. citizens to exercise their right to vote. These numbers show that regardless of whether the intent of these purges is discriminatory, their effect clearly is.

Readers: This is one election that we must all get involved in. Thoughts? Ideas? Blog me.

Howie: Thanks again for answering my concerns and questions over the “time traveling team”.  It seems your info is going to help the TAO in locating them. Once again, your news has been of great service to those concerned. I want to extend my thanks as well, and wish you a wonderful Sunday.

And that sentiment goes out to all my readers. Peace & Love…

Trying to get in, if I do I won’t the say Howie, when I was told to check out the UFO stuff on this blog I resisted for a few months.

But after doing some checks on my on during the last 45 days, I will admit you have made me a believer.

Some of my colleagues say either you are the most well read author in the field of astrobiology with a great imagination or you are in touch with a genuine alien.

No offense intended, but I believe the latter.

Ijo once again you are guilty of causing a problem for earthlings that has caused the Emperor to issue an edict that will impede the relationships we have been nurturing with humans for 19 months.

Your abrupt materialization above that Japanese oil tanker and the USS Porter caused a collision. Neither ship can explain what happened since they were not headed in apposing directions when they collided and they can not report citing an alien craft over the Strait of Hormuz.

The Emperor’s envoy says the loss of the USS Porter to the Strait of Hormuz area will cause a situation to occur that could lead to Obama having to initiate the kind of military action that could impact the coming presidential election.

It is expressly forbidden to interfere in that election. Your excuse that it was an accident will not be accepted because it should not have occurred.

You will either voluntarily depart immediately or be yanked out without leave to return. Take no course to benefit by your brief stay there.

/SB, seems you took the heat bc I wasn’t in trying to defend myself or what I said, so I’m back, reread ‘Hmm, was she driving while Italian? WTF, and where were her young children during the 2 hour delay? In the car?? This is insane…’ I only meant she is Italian, not OTW, I did not condone nor comment FURTHER on the insanity of pulling her over or the tampon puling or the charge, it seemed to me calling it insane covered it, but no, inferences go over your heads so I’ll be more literal: it’s insane for cops to behave this way.ever. & if 2 little kids were in a car for 2 hours away from their mother but watching the events, that’s child abuse and the cops should be charged for such behavior.
& yes, I have driven by a pull over and if saw a tampon being pulled, yes, I would definitely report it, that’s never been part of a search of any kind.
Does it matter that she’s got an expunged rap sheet? It shouldn’t but they probably ran her plate and decided to pull her over, yes they have that kind of decision making power, and at any time a cop can just run your plates…I’ve been told…and they can find out whether your past is ‘questionable’ in any way, and no that’s not fair though who here is over the age of 18 and believes life is fair?
Whoever thinks /SB was finding fault with the woman’s story and wouldn’t wnat to be a woman here, hmm, as the saying goes: you can only believe some of what you read (see) and half of what you hear (read) and I trust the story though it begs to be verified, not bc I don’t believe the woman but bc the whole freaking story is outrageous and details are in order before deciding anything, it’s sounds half told and the fact that a lawsuit is filed doesn’t mean the whole story is told. Many details are missing…and I don’t believe //SB, seems you took the heat bc I wasn’t in trying to defend myself or what I said, so I’m back, reread ‘Hmm, was she driving while Italian? Just because the cost is outrageous doesn’t mean cops wouldn’t do it. They beat the shit out of Rodney on tape and walked away from it because white racists won’t convict a white cop for abusive treatment towards OTWS.

They just recently shot a 21 year old black man while he was handcuffed in the back seat of their car. They shot him in the head and said he committed suicide while they were driving and they didn’t hear it.

They shoot unarmed black men every day and the explanation is OUTRAGEOUS!

Your claim that would be a reason to question the claim of the victim of police abuse is absorb.

    Norm

  11. Henry Says:

Zen Lill, has it occurred to you that OTW could stand for Other Than White male?

That would make Michelle right and you two nitpickers jealous other bloggers.

    Just a thought.

    Henry

  12. Henry Says:

Oh and cops don’t have the right to pull someone over just because they have a record.

    Henry

  13. Juan Says:

Henry, I agree with you how about the Miami player just let go for being accused of heading butting his wife.

The white boy media is reporting as an example of the new coach of Miami’s No Tolerance rule of bad conduct. That would be okay if that was his true intention. But this is just another example of a white boy using a black man to make a point.

If the bad actor had been a white man, ee would have said that he had to wait for the verdict because a person is innocent until proven guilty.

Of course O.J. proved that was a lie. Nn OTW is Guilty whenever a lot of white people believes they are is what O.J. proved.

    Juan

  14. Zen Lill Says:

It may be absorb (think you meant absurd) Norm, though what I believe /SB (and I apologize to you /SB if I’m misunderstanding your words) is that lawsuits, some containing questionable details, are filed everyday also.
I never said I didn’t believe her, once again, I said trust and verify and cops should not ever behave as badly as this, nor in the cases you mentioned. I find the detail of children, young children, left in a car in Florida heat for hours on end, absurb – who took care of them, was anyone called, one of them was one year old, was he/she fed and diapered, etc…maybe those are minor frivolous details to you, but they are not, and I’d like to know exactly what happened, none of that means i am on the side of the police at all. Stories without all details leave me feeling like I need more info, that’s all…take that however you’d like.

…and I can assure you there are many cops who would love to get rid of cops like these, it makes them all look bad.

Mischa, regarding your write today, now yesterday, between computer hacking of votes and leaving the disenfranchised unable to vote, how do you think Obama’s going to get a second term, this info makes me slightly nervous, the peeps of this country would rather have a SP/MR GOP party member who best quali is being white rather than a black man of superior intellect? Makes zero sense…

    Luv, Zen Lill

  15. Diego Says:

ZL when it comes to thugs with badges, true you can only believe some of what you read and half of what you hear.

Not that it matters because the white boy tells us not to believe what you see the bastards do. It doesn’t seem to matter what the tapes show to an OTW when it comes to white juries.

I say we OTWs need to take a piece of the white boy advice and start taking justice into our own hands. They kill innocent doctors who are willing to help women get abortions, why can’t we help deal with the thugs with bastards.

Do it and ask the OTWs look the other way the way white murders get a past from their followers for killing doctors.

I would be willing to send some of those thugs with badges to their maker if I got the slightest okay from the populace.

What say ye people, shall we take our Justice back?

    Diego

  16. Yancy Says:

Looks like you were right again, Mike,TM. Polls say that 54% of the people don’t know this guy. The wealthy are using this race to introduce this BAPF 14 year politician to the public. He will be in front of us for the next 25 years.

    Yancy

I bet the TM stands for “The Mouth.” Well said.

  17. Donna Says:

Sorry ZL, although I usually agree with you. This time I am going to side with those that think the police were at fault. I live in Dade county and the cops here are basically cowboys playing at being cops.

    Donna

  18. Kelly Says:

I agree with you Zen Lill. What about those kids? Only you seem to be concerned. These gottdamn liberals get all caught up with the rights of the criminals and forget about the kids.

So libs what about the kids?

    Kelly

  19. Miguel Says:

“…and I can assure you there are many cops who would love to get rid of cops like these, it makes them all look bad.”

    Really???

So where are these “many cops” when we OTWs are getting the shit kicked out of us by the thugs with badges?

I’ll tell you where they are. They are standing around looking the other way. They are the ones backing up the phony police reports the thugs with badges write.

A shout out to you Diego. I you need a posse to get the work done I know a few who wouldn’t mind busting a few caps in the asses of thugs with badges.

We just need the people to want to take their streets back from the thugs.

    Miguel

  20. Erica Says:

You men should back off Zen Lill. She just calls them the way she sees them.

    Erica

  21. Isabel Says:

Miguel you and Diego may have a point but until you macho bastards quit beating us up and killing each other and the innocent on those streets, I’ll take the cops over you any day.

    Isabel

  22. Kenneth Says:

As an ex cop I will say to Zen Lill’s defense that there are many cops that hate the racist and cowboy attitudes of those few who act out and get away with it.

That thin blue line shit is such a crock. We hate it but so far it seems to work to cover the actions of a few bad apples.

I quit when I was forced to sign off on something that I just couldn’t live with. I got what I deserved later when I was called on it while seeking an enforcement job at a federal agency.

Now I am in private investigation, still having to put up with the same element. I don’t know the solution. But we certainly need one.

By-the-way not all white men are racists.

    Kenneth

  23. Selena Says:

Thank you Isabel for your comment. I am a junior at San Jose State U. The neighborhood I can afford while I am in school is rife with killings, rapes, prostitution and child abuse.

I look for the police every day and pray more come to my neighborhood. If you sick men get yours from the cops. Good For You Baby because I see everyday how badly you treat us latinas.

I feel like the moslem women do about their men. Until you can show some respect for your women, your women don’t give a shit about what happens to you.

    Selena

  24. Paula Says:

Michelle it seems that the Dems have a uphill battle against the cheating repubs. I hope you can come through again. I will be out their voting and hauling people to the polls.

You have given me as much hope as President Obama has. God bless you.

    Paula

  25. TS Says:

Michelle, I saw you at a function over the weekend. Someone told me about your blog. It is a little over the top for me, but for such a beautiful woman I can make an exception.

Looking forward to continuing our association.

  26. Zen Lill Says:

*sigh* Donna, I did not say anywhere that I did not take her side nor did I say that I thought it correct to pull someone over bc they have a rap that comes up when they ‘run plates’ when they’re bored and driving around. I’m a white woman and I shift lanes, turn off streets when I see a cop behind me bc I know they can run plates and know my name, where I live, etc…and knowing what I know, well…I avoid it, that’s all I can say here.

I have more to say on a few other comments and I’ll be back later to do it.

I’m over it when people misconstrue my meanings but really did I sound at all like I didn’t think these particular cops were right, no Kelly caught where went, 2 tiny kids were involved, and I don’t see any press on that, what were the detes peeps, bc the devil is in the details. It’s not about the cop actions on that part.

back later, Luv, Zen Lill, and I’m digging you all whether you understand me well at all, I dig the discourse ; ) so thank you, today and all days.
