Bye-bye phone bill.

Posted by michellemoquin on June 18th, 2008

You know how I love promoting cool things, especially items that really serve a purpose and doesn’t cost a fortune.  Are you a gadget person?  I’m not, but I know plenty of you are.  I don’t need to have the latest iphone or ipod for that matter. I just don’t like owning too many techie things – kind of like owning every kind of kitchen chopper, squeezer etc…too much stuff…but when I see something that would make my life easier AND save me from paying another major bill, I am all over it.

What I am talking about is a little device called ‘Magic Jack’.  Have you heard of it? This little gadget, not much bigger than a little mini cruzer 1.0 GB,  simply plugs into your computers USB port.  Then you take your landline phone cord and plug it into the other end of ‘Magic Jack’ and Voila!  – You have free  long distance to anywhere in the US and Canada! MJ is only 40 bucks which gives you one free  year of long distance and every year after it’s only 20 bucks. I think that’s a pretty good deal. And you get all of the little added features that we all love and depend on, free, such as voicemail, call waiting, etc.

I know a lot of you are thinking, “I use my cell phone to make my long distance calls.”  Well so do I, but I am one of those persons whose free evening calls kicks in after 8:00 pm and I know some of you have even a later time before your freebies kick in. MJ has no time restraints.  Plus, what I also like is that you talk through your home phone and not through your computer so the sound is great.  I don’t know if this happens to you, but sometimes when I am on my cell phone in certain areas of my house – one being my office which is a total drag – I often get a bad connection or worse, I get dropped…and quite often let me add.  I like talking on a land line when I am at home….cell phones can be so wacko at times.

This is also a great product for businesses that make many long distance office calls and/or faxes.  You don’t want to be negotiating that big deal and all of a sudden you get dropped. I don’t care what great deal phone companies are offering you, I don’t think they can beat 20 bucks a month. You can even travel with it and plug in your hotel phone to your lap top. Hmm…not bad. :)

Okay that’s my gist on the gadget. Sound good?  If you like it, you can try one for 30 days risk free, but today is the last day.  I’m not kidding.

Hi Ghazala:  Welcome to my blog! I perused your blog TPS – very interesting, particularly your article ‘Onerous Onus’: a candid read from the perspective of the Pakastani people.  I wish that I could read Urdu so that I could read more….M Mirza catches my eye too. Anyway, thanks for your interest in me/my blog…how did that come about?  I will email you after this post. I look forward to your interview questions.  Thank you.

Hi Al:  How are you doing? If you are feeling like you are on an emotional roller coaster – try to be patient with yourself. It is probably because you are going up soon.  Check in with us…okay?

Earthling Girls: If you are having trouble communicating to me through the designated channels please contact me via my blog. I want to hear everything you have been up to.  I hear you are a big hit with the Muslim women :)

Anonz:  Smart man – you are in control of the situation it seems.

It does not surprise me one bit that our government is holding out their hands too…of course they want a piece of the pie. Unfortunately, graft is part of business as usual. I hope that you are able to get your funds to where they need to go.

Readers:  I added ‘Madaline Speaks’ to the left side column for those of you interested in  her advice for this country; for the betterment of this world.

Spread peace everyone.

Gratefully your blog host,

michelle  ?

Hi Michelle, sounds like a good gadget, TV/fiber optic/free national calling is all inclusive here so I don’t think it’d work for me…but maybe, will check the link later.

To you and Anonz, the whole concept of moving money, large sums, and the total rip off by our gov’t, other govt’s and our tax dollars wasn’t/isn’t lost on me, though I do thank both of you for painting the clear picture for those of us (me) who would rather believe otherwise (a much more benevolent version).

Anonz, you had a lot to say yesterday…some of it quite complimentary, thank you. Golf is only one of my many interests, wish I still had my Fri afternoon gang, my playing had been sporadic at best this year. Then again, I’ve been a bit underground this past year.

Ed’s rapport with me is based on his willingness to e-mail me privately with q’s he knows I’d never address on a public blog, even privately, I answer q’s at my own discretion and retain the right to say NYBB (not your biz babe). I’m not a PI, nor do I wish to expose his or your identity, so if you’d like to exercise that option also, you may. Your call : )

I think once you read the archives here you’ll understand your ‘why me?’ q…and I’m sure it was by design that you would not recognize life saving intervention by alien beings. We both received miracles, mine: you’re alive and able to talk to me; yours: you converse with me – after the blog thing – about that, again, read the archives there was much said after you’re ‘off to Chad’ departure.

I’m a fallen angel to my family, of the Catholic persuasion. Jesus is hard to shake but I prefer my free thinker attitude better, it’s so much more limitless…and confining.

It may be too personal of a q to ask, but sweet pea, what could a son possibly say/do to cause a momma to turn her back totally? I’m sure (or I’ll assume since I think you’re an astute man) you’ve tried all possible routes to communication with her. And, hmmm, I didn’t know you wanted to produce her a grandbaby…will you and your future wife allow me to snuggle the the little bundle? I get goofy around babies/small kids, they usually like me, too : ) I promise not to show outward signs of jealousy, hahaha…I wish you the best, you know that.

FYI, you can comment on any blog entry of mine at the new site as well as the old and I will know, I receive an alert via e-mail. In fact, I get at least 50 per day re: porn on that one feminism entry awhile ago. I may remove the entry by weeks’ end if I can’t figure out how to control the amount of spam, makes me sad and very annoyed.

Off to Palos Verdes to seek that meadow to peek at – I seriously doubt there’ll be wifi there though…guess I can live without gadgets for an hour or so.

Today I pre-empted my Ombama talking points to present: ‘Your life’s non-negotiables’ at http://edgy1.wordpress.com/ – what can I say, it was prompted by a phone call from a friend.

WOW! I like this idea. This could be good for travel for sure and save some on using cell service. Great find!
