Good morning!

Okay, so I slept late because I was super tired from the busy weekend. And then waking up this morning, I was so hooked into the news watching president Obama’s inauguration that I just didn’t, and still don’t want to break away to post.  Hence, I am going to be very brief.

So many good things about the inauguration going through my mind, from Civil Rights icon Myrlie Evers-Williams who delivered the inaugural invocation, to the inspiring music and poetry, to the encouraging, inclusive speech of our beloved president Obama on this day, celebrating his second inauguration, and honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Congratulations Mr. President! I couldn’t be more proud.

    Hi Mischa, I’m listening now, was out playing tennis, forgot it was this am, argh…how could I have, it’s MLK, Jr day and love that this is President Obama’s day today as well, excellent and it’s symbolic in its own perfect way.

    Howie, thank you, I have always wondered that and while it felt like it was such an overdue question I was always hoping some newbie would ask it : ) no one ever did so I had to, felt weird but I can’t be the only one who wanted to know.

    The fact that the crowd cheered when they saw Beyoncee and booed when the speaker of the house appeared says everything about The democrat party and barak hussein obama.
    Our president cultivates this kind of hatred and devision and uses this negative energy to raise money and promote a socialist agenda.

    These are sad times for our nation. I expected at least one presidential reference to working together to get the peoples business done but there was none. I was surprised when he didnt even try to fake good will toward the political opposition and then I realized that as long as there is animosity and the republican party can be defined as the boogey man the money will keep rolling in.

    Mr. obama isnt satisfied with two terms as president he wants to be king.

    I don’t blame the 1%ers for jetting away to someplace warm and expensive. But Kevin Sheridan’s comment about the inauguration that “It’s sort of a nothing right now…” shows how out of touch they are with the American people.

    However, the elected representatives of the Republican Party who chose to disrespect our Democracy by refusing to participate demonstrate the lack of patriotism that is ruining their party.

    If they continue this way they will find themselves in the dustbin of history with the Whigs and the Bull Moose party.

    During the Presidential debates, Bush had a woman start to ask a question regarding jobs. She started with a statement that she worked 3 differents jobs in order to make ends meet.

    Bush cut her off saying ‘isn’t that wonderful that she could get 3 jobs.

    It used to be in this country that a person could make ends meet with just one job. Now people have to work 2 jobs just to pay the rent.

    Michelle, you should be more concerned with truth. Truth would be good. Like the fact that no rifle was used in the killings at Sandy Hook, which was reported ad nauseum for 24 hours after the shooting quoting state and federal authorities. A Sig Sauer and Glock pistol were used.

    Then the Obama admin got control of the investigation, and suddenly only a rifle was used. The same one they found in the trunk — maybe? This inauguration is a waste of time. We have a POTUS that has used the deaths of innocent people to push his agenda by covering up evidence and facts in the case. Impeachment is now on the national political agenda.

    And when did the Admin take over the investigation? Do you have any time line to that effect? Was the entire town, and the hundreds of media present all participate in this secret cover up?

    The rifle they found beside Lanzas body was a “plant”? Did you get all your info from Rush or Beck ?

    Lyle, My sources are NBC, CBN, CNN, and every other network that were reporting even 24 hrs later that ONLY HANDGUNS were found in the school. This is all saved on YT.

    The narrative was changed by the coroner, so we have a clear contradiction. NONE of the media outlets challenged the coroner’s version or even explained why they were so adamant that no rifle was found in the school. The police scanner audio details the confirmation of rifle and shotgun in the car. This is a cover-up. There is no other conclusion.

    Hi Michelle, Zl, and the rest

    Today being Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. day, I thought that I would write in. I do not think that there is anything that I despise more than bigotry and racism. And there is much that I do despise. I am not black, but there are a whole lot of times I wish I could say I am not white.

    Today I watched a 2hr. Documentary on MLK and learned a few things. I knew who Rosa Parks was, but I never new that her refusal to go to the back of the bus was the incident that started MLK on his mission to suppress racial segregation and start his quest to combat racial inequality (non-violently) and fight for civil rights for people of color.

    Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man, as was mandated by the Jim Crow Laws. She had gone to him for help, as he was college educated, and a Baptist minister. At the time MLK was 26 years old. This happened in Montgomery Ala. And led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lasted over a year. This situation had gotten so tense that King’s house was bombed while his wife and child were inside, both were unhurt. King was arrested during this boycott which ended with a United States District Court ruling in Browder v. Gayle that ended racial segregation on all Montgomery public buses.

    In Oct., 1964, MLK was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He had studied Mahatma Gandhi and adopted his method of resistance through non-violence. In 1957, King, Ralph Abernathy, and other civil rights activists founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference .

    FBI director J. Edgar Hoover personally ordered surveillance of King, with the intent to undermine his power as a civil rights leader.

    King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. His death was followed by riots in many US cities. Allegations that James Earl Ray, the man convicted of killing him, had been framed or acted in concert with government agents persisted for decades after the shooting,

    This great man has done so much to promote equal rights that I could go on for many pages. My question is why is there so much hate for the African-American by my white brothers and sisters. We are by no means superior to any other race.

    I too have a dream, but that is another story.

    How to Avoid Assuming the Worst

    My friend’s husband was recently late coming home from work.
    Instead of assuming that he was stuck in traffic (which he was), she immediately wondered if he had died in a car accident or was having an affair.

    She doesn’t have these types of catastrophic thoughts all the time, but she has them on occasion—and they cause her a fair amount of anxiety.

    She’s not sure how to make these kinds of thoughts stop.
    So I called Ron Breazeale, PhD, a clinical psychologist in Portland, Maine, who has helped catastrophic thinkers throughout his career. He gave me some simple and creative
    ways to break this bad habit.

    TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS
    The next time you have a catastrophic thought, stop yourself in that moment and consider following these tips from Dr. Breazeale…

    1. Identify your thought as “catastrophic.” Recognize that what you’re thinking about is extremely unlikely to happen—think seriously about the realistic odds.

    Your partner getting run over by an 18-wheeler or cheating on you in a hotel room with a colleague on his way home from work, for example, are possible explanations for tardiness, but they aren’t likely explanations.

    2. Think about the more likely explanations. Force yourself to come up with other potential scenarios—ones that are much more likely to happen in real life.

    With the above example, consider that your partner is stuck in traffic…on a long line at a gas station…stopping at a drugstore for some razor blades…picking up dry cleaning, etc.

    Then tell yourself that chances are one of these “more likely” scenarios is the real reason he’s late. The more that you consciously force yourself to do this, the more likely you are to start thinking rationally automatically when you’re stressed.

    3. Take action (when possible). In certain cases, there’s an easy way to disprove your catastrophic thought and confirm a “more likely” reason for the problem at hand—for example, you could simply call your tardy husband on his cell phone to find out what’s causing the delay, and that might help you relax.

    But here’s an important part of this step: Make only one call. If you call him and he doesn’t pick up, and that is going to prompt you to call him 10 more times or make calls to 10 other places (his office, the gas station, the drugstore, the dry cleaners, etc)…then skip this step altogether, because it’ll only inflate your worries.

    4. Dig deeper. Ask yourself if your partner’s tardiness, for instance, is what you’re really worried about. Your anxiety might be manifesting itself as stress about your partner, but it actually may be stemming from a separate problem altogether.

    For example, maybe you’re seriously scared because you’re struggling financially…or maybe you’re panicked about a serious health diagnosis…or maybe you’re not performing well at work.

    If you figure out the root problem and then take steps to solve that problem, you might find that your catastrophic thinking dissipates.

    GET EXTRA HELP, IF NEEDED
    If the tips from Dr. Breazeale above don’t curtail your catastrophic thinking and it’s interfering with your life in a serious way—perhaps it keeps you from sleeping or hurts your relationships, for example—then it’s time to seek help from a psychologist who uses cognitive behavioral therapy.

    Find one near you at http://locator.apa.org, the site of the American Psychological Association, said Dr. Breazeale, and ask him or her, “Can you help me with catastrophic thinking?”

    OK Rick, since you listed CNN as one of your sources, on 12-19-2012 on CNN they reported the following :

    (CNN) — Adam Lanza brought three weapons inside Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14 and left a fourth in his car, police said. Those weapons were a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle and two handguns — a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm.

    In the car he left a shotgun, about which police have offered no details. Lanza used one of the handguns to take his own life, although police haven’t said whether the gun was the Glock or the Sig Sauer.

    The weapon in the trunk was an extra shotgun he brought, not the rifle. The rifle was found beside his body. Do somemore research, or just continue with your conspiracy theory.
