Ellison Rails On Hannity

Good morning!

This was from last week but it just came across my plate today. From the Huff Po:

Keith Ellison Explodes At Sean Hannity: ‘The Worst Excuse For A Journalist I’ve Ever Seen’

Sean Hannity got an earful from Democratic congressman Keith Ellison on his Tuesday show. Ellison exploded at the Fox News host, calling him “the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen.”

What made Ellison so angry was a short series of clips of President Obama that Hannity ran just before bringing him on. The clips, which showed Obama talking about the looming budget sequester, were scored to the famously apocalyptic “Carmina Burana.” Hannity said Obama was guilty of fearmongering when he talked about the potential effects of the cuts the sequester would impose.

After playing the clips, Hannity welcomed Ellison, who was in no mood to be chummy:

HANNITY: I guess that’s what we can describe as staying on message, something the Democratic Party I would argue is very good at.ELLISON: You’re pretty good at it too.

HANNITY: Thank you.

ELLISON: Quite frankly you are the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen.

HANNITY: I can’t hear you.

ELLISON: You heard me.

HANNITY: No, say it again. I didn’t hear you.

ELLISON: What you just displayed was not journalism, It was yellow journalism. It wasn’t anything close to trying to tell the American people what’s really going on, and I mean, it’s just shocking.

Things did not get friendlier from there. Ellison also called Hannity a “shill for the Republican party,” an “immoral” man, and said he was violating “every journalistic ethic” in the book. Eventually, Hannity cut the interview short, saying it was a “waste of time” to continue.

*******

Readers: I couldn’t post the video from the Huff Po, so you can click on the title or just watch the extended version that I found:

******

Stacy: You lucked out that you were in the company of a girl’s girl who wouldn’t take that kind of rude talk by a man, as well as sitting next to a decent man who stood up for you. As you can see, I had no such luck in my situation. And like you, I too was worried about leaving after the show, but thankfully my male companion who was not sure he would be able to make it, did end up coming.

Mike, TM: Thanks for the update on HIV. I was not aware of the increased problem in the “young tenders.” The rest of your comment was not what I expected to hear from you, as you are usually pretty much all about business when you comment here. Nice to see another, more personal side of you, and one that admits he did wrong. Thanks for sharing openly and honestly.

I find that some, perhaps many, men come to this conclusion of appreciating their woman when it is too late. Aw…well…I’m happy that you two were able to be at least friends. Good luck in the dating world. You seem like a very nice gentleman, who after learning a very hard lesson, should be quite a catch.

Howie, You are so on point when you say the UN is jumping on Israel while ignoring the abuses of the Middle East nations that abuse many of their citizens and all of their females.

Sounds like a case of not so Intelligent Design. Note to Monsanto: When you become God you can create things.

When you become God, you can improve on His designs. Until then, stop messing with mother nature Monsanto.

What will the problems starting to crop up today look like in 1,000 years? Oh, that’s right, bonuses and stock values are based on current P&L statements.

    How I Foiled a Pickpocket

My husband and I landed in Rome, jetlagged and luggage-laden, and rushed to catch the high-speed train to Florence. On the train, two young women offered to help us find our seats. I was pleased to have the assistance—until I heard my husband say, “Where’s my wallet?”

The young women had been jostling us as we worked our way to our seats, a common pickpocket tactic. I grabbed the women by their wrists and demanded, “Where’s my husband’s wallet?” One of them pointed to the floor where she’d thrown it and said, “There it is.”

Later I recognized that what I had done was not safe. Detective Kevin Coffey, a 31-year veteran of one of America’s largest police forces and founder of CorporateTravelSafety.com, agrees. Some pickpockets may become violent when cornered (though this is not common).
Prevention is the best course, says Coffey. Men should carry their wallets in their front pockets and avoid loose-fitting pants. Wrap a thick rubberband around the wallet, too—the rubber makes it harder for pickpockets to slide the wallet smoothly out of a front pocket.

Better yet, purchase a belt-loop wallet, sometimes called a hidden wallet or hidden pocket. This small pouch attaches to the belt and tucks inside the pants behind the front pocket, making it extremely difficult for pickpockets. It also is more convenient than a money belt because you don’t have to untuck your shirt to gain access—just pull it out by its strap.

Women should carry purses that zip closed with a flap that folds over (the flap should face your body). For more travel safety tips, go to http://www.CorporateTravelSafety.com/safety-tips.

  5. Marty Says:

Zen Lill, I’m a white male who agrees with you. I also agree with Al to a point. I don’t like the term “White Boy” either. However, I understand that minorities don’t like the names we call them.

The fact that we as the race in power in America can back up our verbal insults with actions that impact very negatively on them makes our insults more threatening.

Why that fact would be missed by Al is beyond me.
The minorities on this blog are acting out their frustration with how they feel we whites are treating them by calling those of us “White Boys.”

Those whites who they feel are racist against them or generally stupid when they support political positions that are incomprehensible to them, such as the majority of our race’s tendency to support gun ownership without supporting background checks to buy those guns are tagged “White Boys.”

They can’t as a group vote any of our white men out of the power positions they enjoy and employ their racist or bigoted behavior from. Calling us “White Boy” is all the power they have. They can’t force us to change legislation in any way.

The actions of SCOTUS presently deciding whether they will be able to vote without hassle in some southern states is an example. The thousands of laws passed to deny women the right to birth control or many other forms of health care is another example.

We whites have no idea what it must be like to have to sit on the sidelines and wait for a race of other people to decide their fate. How Al figures that compares to his having to read someone using the words “White Boy” is simply ludicrous.

Just as ludicrous is Bree writing in saying All racist’s words are equal. Only the group in power who has no fear of the other groups would make a disingenuous statement like that.

All racism is not equal. Sticking with your race because you prefer that race is one thing. Doing it and using the power of that group’s racism to impact negatively on another race is serious. And that is the issue here.
Al’s angst was not a serious one.

If it bothered him, then he could stop reading that post. If minorities don’t like what we as the race in power are doing to them they do not have that option. Ignoring our racists acts against them won’t lessen the harm . They have to endure it.

Encouraging Al in his disproportional rant is wrong in so many ways. It actually says to the minorities that some members of our race are so narcissistic that any discomfort suffered by whites is intolerable while the recognition of their slights are dependent upon, as SCOTUS demonstrates, how the majority of us whites feel about them.

Al, you know better. If you are so psychologically incapacitated by the term “White Boy,” then don’t read that post. But for you to disparage the entire blog because you have issues with those two words is immature at best and self-absorbed and dogmatic at worst.

We can help Al best by not taking the bait that we whites have to fear the racism of the minorities. We have the law to come to our aid. We whites use the law to discriminate against the minorities.

    That is the difference.

  6. Scott Says:

Howie, I have several questions about your alien post. I hope you will respond this time to some of them.

  7. Bobby Says:

Now this is a view of Israel I could like. http://www.infosamay.com/bikini-clad-gun-toting-israeli-woman-becomes-an-internet-sensation/

The young woman, dressed only in a black-and-white string bikini, was captured chatting with a friend, rifle (with its magazine removed) slung casually behind her back. Though there’s no uniform to identify her, the woman appears to be part of the Israel Defense Forces. Two years of IDF service is mandatory for most Israeli women at age 18. Men serve three years.
    ====================
What difference does it make whether she is in uniform? The need for protection is non the less necessary.

    Bobby

  8. John Says:

Not to change the subject, but I was on Guam as my first USAF station in 1999. The snakes were really bad then, I can’t imagine what they are like now. It is a very small island so two million snakes would be an incredible amount.

  9. Ingrid Says:

Howie, an amateur British archaeologist has discovered almost 300 gold coins dating from the 7th Century at a dig just outside Jerusalem’s Old City.

I, too wish you were here. I would be so excited to meet you.

  10. Janet Says:

Marty fanned and faved. All I can say to the Brees is it looks like someone needs a little sensitivity training.

  11. Ellen Says:

Not that difficult to understand when explained so simply Marty. When a man gets in a woman’s face calling her a bitch or other derogatory terms he brings with that because of his size and physical power over her a threat of physical violence. So his use of negative terms are far more threatening.

Why men pretend to not understand that difference is inexplicable, unless like Al they are counting on the inanity of the Brees to take the bait.

    Ellen

  12. Susan Says:

Ellen, you and Zen Lill are so down to earth with your understanding of the topics on this blog.

  13. Zen Lill Says:

    Marty, I’m wichoo!

I will add one thing…and you mentioned it, if the post you’re reading doesn’t appeal to you, stop reading it.

I often skim rather than read first – if I catch pyschic energy has an extreme charge (it’s like reading in all caps, a bit of overkill energetically) though that’s not to say that their points get overlooked, I do go back once i realize the need to desensitize myself personally form the content. AD & RobertRt often come out with serious charge on their topics, and rightfully so, I used get the feeling they were blowing MY hair back but since I fit none of the profile either describe, white boy or dumb as a box of rocks white woman, why should I get upset, no reason.

Others like Al can take the offense and I still get it why, I’m just explaining the underpinnings of that sensitivity rather than calling it whining or any other derogatory label. I’m the understanding and non-labeling type, what can I tell ya? & believe me, sometimes that’s tough, I’ve spent the better part of my adult life studying human psych and behavior, individual and mass psych as well, we all fall into some categories, categorically speaking : ) but our uniqueness comes from the many variables in background, beliefs, ability to adapt to change, etc, etc, etc…

Misch, re: this post, great info. I have a friend who is a pilot for years, he told me all this and I’m so glad. I also told him I hated landings (used to totally white knuckle those moments) and he assured me that it is take off I should concern myself with, landing is a cakewalk (under normal conditions, meet up with some weather or other interference and all bets are off).

    Luv, Zen Lill
