A Tragedy Births Inspiration

Good morning!

I realize that they anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s horrific death was last week, but I thought this write from the Think Progress was well worth posting today.

8 Inspiring Things That Happened Since Trayvon Martin Was Tragically Killed One Year Ago Today

By Judd Legum on Feb 26, 2013 at 3:07 pm

One year ago today, Trayvon Martin — an unarmed 17-year-old boy on his way home from 7-11 — was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. The murder trial is scheduled to begin this June. A separate hearing may be held in April to determine whether Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law gives Zimmerman immunity.

While nothing can make up for the events of February 26, 2012, many people have responded to the tragedy with compassion, courage and strength. Here are some of the most inspiring things that have happened over the last year.

1. 192 colleagues of Trayvon Martin’s mother donated 1,362 hours of their vacation time so she could grieve.

“Sybrina Fulton, who has worked at the Miami-Dade County housing authority for 23 years, collected $40,825 worth of donated vacation time, county records show… the Miami-Dade County Commission passed a resolution sponsored by Bruno Barreiro, Barbara Jordan and Jose “Pepe” Diaz to allow county employees to donate vacation time to Fulton…Records show 192 county employees gave Fulton some of their hours” [Miami Herald, 5/12/2012]

2. Sanford, Florida has a new police chief who has pledged to finally address “long-standing racial tensions between the police department and the African-American community.”

The police chief who decided not to charge George Zimmerman was fired. [ABC7,2/18/2013]

3. Dozens of major companies ended their support for ALEC, the right-wing group who championed “Stand Your Ground” laws.

The companies that ended their support for the American Legislative Exchange Council include “Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kraft, McDonalds, Wendy’s, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Procter & Gamble, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Johnson & Johnson, Dell Computers, Best Buy, General Motors and Walgreens.” ALEC was also forced to end it’s “Public Safety and Election Task Force,” which advocated for “Stand Your Ground” laws around the country. At least 39 lawmakers have also ended their association with ALEC.[ThinkProgress, 4/17/2012; ThinkProgress, 8/7/2012; ThinkProgress, 5/18/2012]

4. Thousands of people peacefully gathered in Sanford, Florida to demand justice for Trayvon Martin.

[News 10, 3/22/2012]

5. A United States Congressman went on the floor of the House of Representatives in a hoodie to show solidarity with Trayvon.

Illionis Rep. Bobby Rush said, “Racial profiling has to stop Mr. Speaker. Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.” After delivering a rousing speech, he was escorted from the floor for violating decorum. [NBC News, 3/28/2012]

6. Legislation to repeal “Stand Your Ground” laws was introduced in four states.

The law was cited by the police as the reason Zimmerman was not arrested for weeks after Martin was killed. [Yahoo, 1/26/2013]

7. Students at Howard University produced this video to highlight the racial profiling of young black men.

“All young black men are not suspicious. We don’t deserve to be harassed, murdered, prosecuted or denied the protections of the justice system all because America believes that we are suspicious… Some of us have already and will eventually change the world. All are not suspicious.”

8. President Obama spoke out about Trayvon Martin in the Rose Garden.

“My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves.” [3/23/2012]

Monica: Friend of Gloria – welcome! What a complimentary comment about Gloria and even more inspiring to hear that you wish this blog to change you as well.  Although my focus is on women’s issues worldwide (This is a women’s blog, don’t ya know:), I also zero in on my passions which includes worldly concerns.

And yes, it is a place to discuss politics if you want – there are plenty here who do just that. But it is also a place to discuss whatever is on your mind, and whenever it is on your mind. There is no agenda although there is always a topic du jour that I choose depending on what I am feeling that day. Readers decide to comment on my posted topic or take the conversation on a different path – whatever suits their needs for the day. So what’s on your mind? Blog me, and we’ll see where it goes.

Al: As I mentioned, “Take your meds…stay off of drugs…I don’t know.”  Like I said, “I don’t know”….meaning I don’t know what it is you need to do, but evidently you are going to read into it how you want to read into it. That is your choice.  It seems your true colors broke through again, and are shining brightly. Was it too good to be true to think that you were a man of a different color? Some may call me crazy but I was HOPEful and still am that the kind, funny, supportive Al we experience here is who you truly are. As always, I wish you the best.

Peter: Love the story! Thanks for sharing. May they all be safe and strong and return home to their loved ones. Hafa Adai.

Clemente: Nicely stated.

Vivian: Did you see my post yesterday? A perfect example.

Social Butterfly: And the Oscars is seen by millions of people and all over the world. Just what do you think they are thinking? And there was barely any mention of it. MSNBC didn’t talk about it did they? Like you said and I read, “many of the actors were portraying rape victims.” How insensitive and just disgusting. Not funny at all.

MacFarlane should’ve been booed by the audience for his tasteless boob song. The fact they didn’t says a lot to me. Maybe they were in shock. I was. And it was somewhat trickery because of how they promoted the song knowing that if the show really did that song, his ratings would be low. Basically saying that if he did it “live” the audience would not have approved, as if it didn’t really happen “live”. But it did.

Peace out.

Lastly, greed over a great story is surfacing from my “loyal”(?) readers. With all this back and forth about who owns what, that appears on my blog, let me reiterate that all material posted on my blog becomes the sole property of my blog. If you want to reserve any proprietary rights don’t post it to my blog. I will prominently display this caveat on my blog from now on to remind those who may have forgotten this notice.

  1. Health Info Says:

The Superfood You’ve Never Heard Of

Spirulina slows aging and prevents chronic disease

When you think of a superfood, you probably think of salmon or blueberries—not the algae that floats on the surfaces of lakes, ponds and reservoirs.

But there’s a type of blue-green algae that has been used for food and medicine in developing countries for centuries…that NASA has recommended as an ideal food for long-term space missions…that is loaded with health-giving nutrients…and that might be a key component in a diet aimed at staying healthy, reversing chronic disease and slowing the aging process.

    That algae is spirulina.
Spirulina grows mainly in subtropical and tropical countries, where there is year-round heat and sunlight. It is high in protein (up to 70%), rich in antioxidants and loaded with vitamins and minerals, particularly iron and vitamin B-12. And it has no cellulose—the cell wall of green plants—so its nutrients are easy for the body to digest and absorb.

    GREEN MEDICINE
Dried into a powder, spirulina can be added to food or taken as a tablet or capsule. And ingested regularly, spirulina can do you a lot of good.

Scientific research shows there are many health problems that spirulina might help prevent or treat…

    Anemia.
Researchers from the University of California at Davis studied 40 people age 50 and older who had been diagnosed with anemia (iron deficiency), giving them a spirulina supplement every day for three months.

The study participants had a steady rise in levels of hemoglobin, the iron-carrying component of red blood cells, along with several other factors that indicated increased levels of iron.

    Weakened immunity.
In the UC Davis study mentioned above, most of the participants ages 61 to 70 also had increases in infection-fighting white blood cells and in an enzyme that is a marker for increased immune activity—in effect, reversing immunosenescence, the age-related weakening of the immune system.

Immunosenescence is linked not only to a higher risk for infectious diseases such as the flu but also to chronic diseases with an inflammatory component, such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s and cancer.

    Allergies.
Spirulina has anti-inflammatory properties and can prevent the release of histamine and other inflammatory factors that trigger and worsen allergic symptoms.

Studies also show that spirulina can boost levels of IgA, an antibody that defends against allergic reactions. In one study, people with allergies who took spirulina had less nasal discharge, sneezing, nasal congestion and itching.

    Cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
Taking spirulina can double blood levels of zeaxanthin, an antioxidant linked to a reduced risk for cataracts and age-related macular degeneration, reported researchers in British Medical Journal.

    Diabetes.
In several studies, researchers found that adding spirulina to the diets of people with type 2 diabetes significantly decreased blood sugar levels.

    Caution:
Spirulina has not been approved by the FDA for treating diabetes, so consult your doctor before taking.

    Lack of endurance.
In a small study, men who took spirulina for one month were able to run more than 30% longer on a treadmill before having to stop because of fatigue, reported Greek researchers in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.

    Heart disease.
Nearly a dozen studies have looked at the effect of spirulina intake on risk factors for heart disease, both in healthy people and people with heart disease.

Most of the studies found significant decreases in negative factors (such as LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, apolipoprotein B and blood pressure) and increases in positive factors (such as HDL cholesterol and apolipoprotein A1).

    IDEAL DOSE
A preventive daily dose of spirulina is one teaspoon. A therapeutic dose, to control or reverse disease, is about one tablespoon.

Spirulina has been on the market for more than a decade, and it’s among the substances listed by the FDA as “Generally Recognized as Safe” (GRAS).

    Caution:
If you have an autoimmune disease, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis or lupus, talk to your doctor. Spirulina could stimulate the immune system, making the condition worse.

    BEST PRODUCTS
Like many products, the quality of spirulina varies. What to look for…
    Clean taste.
Top-quality spirulina tastes fresh. If spirulina tastes fishy or “swampy” or has a lingering aftertaste, it’s probably not a good product.

Bright color. Spirulina should have a vibrant, bright blue-green appearance (more green than blue). If spirulina is olive-green, it’s probably inferior.

    Cost.
You get what you pay for—and good spirulina can be somewhat pricey.

    Example:
Spirulina Pacifica, from Nutrex Hawaii—grown on the Kona coast of Hawaii since 1984 and regarded by many health experts as one of the most nutritious and purest spirulina products on the market—costs $50 for a 16-ounce, 454-gram jar of powder. Store it in the refrigerator.

    Growing location.
The best spirulina is grown in clean water in a nonindustrialized setting, as far away as possible from an urban, polluted environment. If you can, find out the growing location of the product you’re considering buying.

HOW TO ADD IT TO FOOD
There are many ways to include spirulina in your daily diet…
Put it in smoothies. Add between one teaspoon and one tablespoon to any smoothie or shake.
    Add to juice.
Add one teaspoon or tablespoon to an eight-ounce glass of juice or water, shake it up and drink it.

    Sprinkle it on food.
Try spirulina popcorn, for instance—a great conversation starter at a potluck. To a bowl of popcorn, add one to two tablespoons of spirulina powder, three to four tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese, two or three tablespoons of olive oil, one- half teaspoon of salt and one-eighth teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

    Add it to condiments.
Put one-quarter teaspoon in a small jar of ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard or salad dressing. This way you’ll get a little each time you use these products.

  2. Stacy Says:

Most men don’t give a damn about what women feel. They see everything through their own needs. If they sacrifice it is because of a particular woman not women in general.

That’s why MacFarlane felt okay to do what he did. On another note I was confronted by man who said I was in a seat he had placed his coat over to reserve it for his lady.

I said excuse me and I moved. As I was moving he said to his lady as she was approaching “the bitch saw my coat, you’d think she would have had the common sense to not sit there.”

His lady friend said “if that is how you address a woman, I want no part of your company.” She leaned over an apologized for his rudeness and left.

He stood over me after she left and said “bitch see what you did?” A much smaller man who was sitting in front of me with his lady, stood up and told the guy he was rude to speak to a woman like that. The guy immediately backed down and didn’t say another word the rest of the evening.

I was afraid that he might accost me after the event. But to my surprise several men with their ladies volunteered to escort me to my car. It wasn’t needed, we watched him scurry away like a frightened animal. I thanked the gentlemen and left.

  3. Mike, TM Says:

Be very careful who you have sex with. A not yet released study says that HIV has increased about 20% among the young.

I shouldn’t have to say this but if you are having uncovered sex with anyone you are playing russian roulette with your life.

Some of the strains can be passed via saliva, if you have a cut in your mouth or face or it gets in your eyes. It is especially dangerous if you have brushed you teeth too hard before the kiss and you have chaffed your gums.

Men and women the next time you get excited about an encounter with that “young tender” remember it may not be so fresh.

They young tend to be less concerned about STDs. Young women mistake the pill for safety. The estimate is that more than half HIV-infected young people are unaware that they have the virus, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.

So those people are out there every day risking the health of others by their contact.

Me, I’m looking for a fine 40- 60 year old woman who can tolerate this 43 year old divorcee. My wife had good cause to leave. I cheated on her. But I have learned my lesson.

I didn’t appreciate what a find she was until I was forced to look again for a replacement. I worked hard at it and in the last 6 years we have become friends again, but she says she can’t bring herself to trust me again.

I don’t insist. I’m happy she will be my friend.

    Mike,TM

Guam Air Guard Staff Sgt. Leon Guerrero Receives Combat Action Medal

Written by By Senior Airman Audreya J.P. Taitano
    Monday, 04 March 2013 08:10
    Guam News – Guam News

Guam – Staff Sgt. Joshua K. Leon Guerrero of the 254th Force Support Squadron was recognized Mar. 3 at Andersen Air Force Base as a recipient of the Air Force Combat Action Medal for his valiant efforts in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

“In my career field as a services craftsman and being a Guardsman, I never thought that

I would get the chance to work with Special Forces teams, let alone fight the good fight alongside them,” said Leon Guerrero. “Receiving this award is a testament of what I went through and have done, and more importantly, what the members of the Guam Air National Guard are capable of accomplishing.”

Leon Guerrero, originally tasked to carry out food services support and to serve as a gunner for the Quick Reaction Force, took advantage of opportunities to join Special Forces Elements on their missions. While providing security at a base observation post, his warfare readiness skills were immediately engaged when his post came under direct enemy fire.

Staff Sgt. Joshua K. Leon Guerrero of the 254th Force Support Squadron is joined by his family as he is officially awarded the Air Force Combat Action Medal Mar. 3 at Andersen Air Force Base from The Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard MAJ GEN Benny Paulino.

Leon Guerrero deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Southwest Asia Region and engaged his warfare readiness skills when his observation post came under direct enemy fire. (Guam Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Audreya J.P. Taitano]

“This is the first of this type of medal to be awarded in the Guam Air National Guard. It validates our relevancy of the organization and how important our Airmen are to the fight,” said Col. Johnny Lizama, commander of the 254th Air Base Group.

He calls Leon Guerrero an outstanding NCO and a true role model for other Airmen in that he serves as a classic illustration for a member from a mission support function and in the fight.

“Our Airmen constantly train, from our most senior officers to our most junior Airmen,” said Lizama.

Leon Guerrero credits his greatest lesson as having to be ready for anything regardless of your occupation in the military.

“In the world we live in today, the war as well as the enemy are always evolving, and as a member of the United States Armed Forces, we must be able to evolve so that we can rise to the occasion,” said Leon Guerrero.

The Air Force Combat Action Medal is bestowed upon those who have had active participation in combat, having been under direct fire and hostile fire, or physically engaging hostile forces with direct and lethal fire in connection with military operations.

    ==========================
    Congratulations
Guam Air Guard Staff Sgt. Leon Guerrero

Guam and America is very proud of you.

    Sorry, missed this comment…
Willard #8 from 3/1, yes what were the founding fathers smoking when they decided appointments of SCROTUS were for life, wtf?
It’s like a BAD marriage and I would love to see impeachment possible for all of them (and expulsion or a plain old ‘you’re fired’ for that f**cker, Ben Berspankme, every damn thing he predicts is wrong, don’t get me going on him or his predecessor, Alan Greenspankme, I just added all the spankme stuff now but it’s a good fitting way to address both of em’).

MikeTM, I’m appreciating your honesty right now. And that’s all good info for all ages, I know some 40+’s that hit up on anything (ugh, hate to say it’s both men & women, you’d think someone would go for using good taste, but no…it’s weird, they tell me these stories bc well, ‘you’re a single mom, too’ – you must be doing the same thing…ugh, no I’m a bit more discerning than that and they assume since I’m so ‘independent’ that I’d want a no attachment arrangement, um, okaaayyyy…the two aren’t mutually exclusive in my mind). Good luck finding someone : )

Misch, unfortunately so many peeps are terrified of black boys in hoodies, what the hell? My girl has so many pals with 1 white parent and 1 black parent it’s crazy, and they’re all so beautiful! & some of the girls’ brothers are adorabs (oh ok, they’re hunky : ) and yup, they wear hoodies sometimes, I’m hoping since they live in affluent neighborhoods they won’t have to go through some of this crap but it’s likely when they step out of this area that it could happen…and all are exceptionally nice and cool kids…I don’t pray as a regular thing but for them, I do.

You think Seth Macfarlane is offensive, check this out, and until they got called out on this they didn’t think they were being offensive (BS!) they only apologized bc they got busted.
I’d like a sub-header for LSOS please, Misch. How about the ‘Serious Sacks of SHIT’ or SSOS club.

Yes, ‘Keep Calm and and Knife Her’ – ‘Keep Calm and Choke Her’ – ‘Keep Calm and Grope On’ and finally ‘Keep Calm and Rape Her’ – makes me want to elect the company, Solid Gold Bomb, and it’s founders to the SSOS club.

  7. Social Butterfly Says:

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state senator says cockfighting should not be a felony in Utah because abortion is legal in the state. The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/ZiKSLN ) that Republican Sen. Allen Christensen of North Ogden made the statement Monday.

Christensen criticized the measure, calling cockfighting a natural event. He added, “yet we allow people to go ahead and murder their unborn babies.” He said owners raise game fowl for one purpose, and that is to fight.

The measure would make it a third-degree felony to own or train game fowl for fighting. That means up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine. Lawmakers say current state laws against cockfighting are too lax and invite gamblers to Utah.

The Senate is set to vote on the bill this week.

Stupid is as stupid does. Just like a repugnant to relate apples and oranges.

The UN is obsessed with one country’s human rights record, and it’s not North Korea, Iran or Syria.

Enlightening video, Howie, that’s actually a pretty good site in general, thank you.

I read in 2 news sources that the ‘Jeb Bush’ name is being connected with the phrase ‘US presidency run 2016′ – that’s some scary stuff.

/SB, I know what you mean…the only good part of that story is that they were shut down before any t-shirts could be sold, apparently even the peeps they thought would find it appealing were appalled.

Yes, white men are making and publishing these disgusting shirts. Yes, Al, while you are “Cringing” over being called a name you don’t like, your ilk are encouraging men, to grope, bury, rape and kill women.

Your sense or proportion is way out of wack. But that is typical for men who are narcissistic. Don’t tell me that one makes you cringe also.

Men, whether you call them white boys, tiny dick wonders, sick pups or whatever, they are animals. And if women don’t stick together, —–that means you Bree—-they will continue to demean, maim, rape, and kill us.

  12. Kelly Says:

Fantastic link Zen Lill. One would think that today white men would know that it is wrong to treat women this way. Why would a grown man advocate to young men and boys that is is okay to contemplate that kind of violence towards women.

I have no sympathies for the mental anguish name calling brings to the likes of Als when men are advocating such violence towards women.

Al, no one is advocating violence towards white men, black men had to deal with the name calling and living with the fact that murdering one of them was only a Misdemeanor in most southern states.

Put your bullshit pain in perspective. You are one big cry baby. And for Godsakes, I hope the Dumb-As-A-Box-Of-Rocks white women like Bree get a clue.

Let men defend themselves, they aren’t going to show you more respect than any other woman because you suck up to the. Their are plenty of self absorbed pussies like Al who will cry their feelings are hurt to come to his defense.

Get involved in a program that aids women. It will occupy so much of your time you won’t have any to kiss a man’s ass.

  13. Jerry Says:

Monsanto is poisoning us everyday. There is a difference in splicing and modifying a plant. What they are doing is putting the poison that will kill the bug into the seed. Also modifying it with DNA.

The result is the poison “Round-Up” comes out in your stomach when your stomach acids break down the nutrients in the food. Basically you could save all the work and just drink “Round-Up.”

If you garden, buy organic heirloom not hybrid seeds and you can save from year to year.

  14. Roberta Says:

Idiots like Bree encourage men to be narcissistic. What goes on in their tiny, “Look at me I’m different” brains is anybody’s guess.

    Roberta

  15. Lois Says:

Social Butterfly, men just don’t care about the needs of women. They figure they don’t have to because they can count on a significant number of women like Bree to be apologist for their behavior.

Solidarity is the only thing that will stop white boys in this country from preventing women gaining equal rights and total control over their bodies.

The Brees of the world drag us down and give men the idea that women are dumb.

  16. Mike, TM Says:

Farmers in 2011 discovered that the corn plants that Monsanto Co. genetically modified to thwart a voracious bug are falling prey to that very pest in a few Iowa fields, the first time a major Midwest scourge has developed resistance to a genetically modified crop.

The discovery raises concerns that the way some farmers are using biotech crops could spawn superbugs.

Great, Superweeds and Superbugs. I expect a video game. “What fools these mortals be!” It’s almost like War of the Worlds, only we are the aliens, and Mother Earth is getting ready to kill us off with bugs.

  17. Zen Lill Says:

    Roberta and others,
it’s also important to remember not to play/fall into it w/men either, they are cagier than any female any day when they want to play the wounded bird routine they often accuse women of…they’ll have you believing they’re discriminated against also (reverse this!), yup and you’re still a white man who can get away with lots…

I don’t care how attracted you may be to any one male, make it know that your a feminist and find out if they are with you on that, not in that bullshitty liar kinda way…you know what I mean. You can feel it, a wuss will head for the nearest dummy, let him have her and sorry ladies if you’re going to act like a dummy and play in, you’ll be treated that way bc men often do not care as long as their needs get met.

Be willing to make your own needs/wants known and if he doesn’t want the same or refuses for whatever reason, ask him to step off and softly whisper…next…(or see my last sentence here, and say nothing until you need to) – now here’s the caveat, I’ve seen otherwise bright women play right into ‘I stand by my man’ (it’s cool though at least admit – to yourself – that your doing lock step to keep da peace, it’s when you BS yourself you run into big troubs) or ‘there’s not enough good ones around’ (oh bull, there are some good ones, believe me) and etc, etc…don’t fall prey to this and behave/act/speak how you think they want you to be, be heard, have a voice, if you don’t like what you see/hear speak up!
(Or keep him around if he’s got a nine inch personality but don’t count on any personal back up/serious thang – Bree, this was for you!)

There’s a lot of closet racists out there…I take issues with slobs, jerks, rude mannered and judgmental peeps in general and I don’t care what color or creed you are. If you behave like a classless base human than I won’t speak or regard you highly, why should I?

I got Al’s complaint, he just doesn’t feel he fits into the category so why does he need to hear it…I think it escalated very quickly and he got overly tweaked. It’s happened before here and I’m sure it’ll happen again….likely to me after saying this : ) though sorry, I’ll always TRY to see Al and Howie’s version and how things may have gone awry due to blog writes not having same communication style as in person, I’m good at viewing from all sides, we all know that…

    Luv, Zen Lill

  18. Marty Says:

Zen Lill, I’m a white male who agrees with you. I also agree with Al to a point. I don’t like the term “White Boy” either. However, I understand that minorities don’t like the names we call them.

The fact that we as the race in power in America can back up our verbal insults with actions that impact very negatively on them makes our insults more threatening.

Why that fact would be missed by Al is beyond me.

The minorities on this blog are acting out their frustration with how they feel we whites are treating them by calling them “White Boys.” Those whites who they feel are racist against them or generally stupid when they support political positions that are incomprehensible to them, such as the majority of our race’s tendency to support gun ownership without supporting background checks to buy those guns are tagged “White Boys.”

They can’t as a group vote any of our white men out of power positions they enjoy and employ their racist or bigoted behavior from. Calling us “White Boy” is all the power they have. They can’t force us to change legislation in any way.

The actions of SCOTUS presently deciding whether they will be able to vote without hassle in some southern states is an example. The thousands of laws passed to deny women the right to birth control or many other forms of health care in another example.

We whites have no idea what it must be like to have to sit on the sidelines and wait for a bunch of white people to decide you fate. How Al figures that compares to his having to read someone using the words “White Boy” is simply ludicrous.

Just as ludicrous is Bree writing in saying All racist’s words are equal. Only the group in power who has no fear of the other groups would make a disingenuous statement like that.

All racism isn’t equal. Sticking with your race because you prefer that race is one thing. Doing it and using the power of that group’s racism to impact negatively on another race is serious. And that is the issue here.

Al’s angst was not a serious one. If it bothered him, then he could stop reading that post. If minorities don’t like what we as the race in power are doing to them they do not have that option. Ignoring our racists acts against them won’t lessen the harm . They have to endure it.

Encouraging Al in his disproportional rant is wrong in so many ways. It actually says to the minorities that some members of our race are so narcissistic that any discomfort suffered by whites is intolerable while the recognition of their slights are dependent upon, as SCOTUS demonstrates, how the majority of us whites feel about them.

Al, you know better. If you are so psychologically incapacitated by the term “White Boy,” then don’t read that post. But for you to disparage the entire blog because you have issues with those two words is immature at best and self-absorbed and dogmatic at worst.

We can help Al best by not taking the bait that we whites have to fear the racism of the minorities. We have the law to come to our aid. We whites use the law to discriminate against the minorities.

    That is the difference.

  19. Bree Says:

You commenters are very good at lobbying personal attacks and suppositions. My comments went right over your heads. Some of you seem go have an axe to grind and will grind it at every opportunity. Meaningful discussion is a rarity here. Constructive dialogue is missing. How much have any of you actually accomplished in the real world furthering your goals? What have you done to actually further your causes? Piss and moan here so you can feel effective? I say you all just take whining to a new level – white black green or blue. I can take your hate and hateful comments even if Al can’t. I know who I am. I know what’s in my heart. I know what I DO not just say to make the world better for everyone regardless of the color of their skin. Your hateful blathering doesn’t help anyone. You’re perpetuating hate. If that makes you feel better what does that say about your soul? I’m entitled to my opinion just like the rest of you. I merely made an observation I believe in. And look at the hate lobbed my way. I think I’ll call this the haters blog going forward.
