Saturday Speak

Good morning!

I discovered this segment; an interview with the writer Marianne Williamson on Oprah’s network. I haven’t read Williamson’s book, however, I found this to be interesting and…wanted to share it, and hear your thoughts.

In 1992, Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love, said that the following 20 years would be critical to the survival of mankind. Now that time has come. Find out why she says we’re both better and worse off than before—and reveals the one force that still has the potential to turn everything around.

Marianne Williamson on What’s Wrong—and Right—with the World

Readers: I agree with Williamson – I too believe that small groups of people can become powerful with their voice and their ideas and bring about big change. We’ve seen it happen historically, how even one person’s actions can change the world. We can’t wait on the majority to all agree. We are recently seeing how some issues are literally at a standstill.

Sometimes…many times, it takes radical ideas or actions to get something to happen, something to change.  Rosa Parks, is perfect example. I try to think of how I can have a positive affect in the things I believe in…the things that I think will be for the good of all. How about you?

We are the only species that systematically destroys our own habitat because we are the only species on our planet that is greedy. And because of that greed we do things that are not in our best interest or the best interest of our planet, which in the end effects our livelihood. Throw in racism, mix it up with greed, and you have a recipe for “how quickly can we destroy our economy, our environment…?” I could go on.

I also like that Williamson points out that although reading spiritual books is good we can’t just be all about crystals and rainbowsand la de da...” We need to get involved and have a voice. I found it interesting when she speaks about what Martin Luther King said about Ghandi, lifting love beyond mere personal relationship, and turned it into a broad scale social force for good. Terrorists have taken hatred and turned into a political force….the only way to transform that..is if we turn love into a social and political force, like King and Ghandi.” Hmm…I like that.

Thoughts? Blog me.

Happy  Saturday! Thanks for being here with me. Sending love…

  1. David Says:

White folks are so into themselves. They are highlighting the NRA as if it is a big percentage of the population. Another big white lie.

  2. Helen Says:

I’m white but I agree with you David. My husband was so excited he took both our sons. The little penis wonders are in their full glory in a room full of guns.

  3. Irene Says:

I agree Michelle. A small group of people can make change. Unfortunately, it works both ways.

The organized minority can always manipulate the unorganized majority. Witness the less than 2 million NRA members that control the gun issues.

Witness the right in government gerrymandering the polls to control the vote of the masses.

  4. Aleksy Says:

I don’t think she was right about love being the thing that turned it around for Martin and Ghandi.

In a white world only force or the fear of it does anything. After all it was the death of Martin and the resulting threat of riots by blacks that caused key whites to act.

As for the british, it was the fear of dealing with a billion people who were united by the will of one man.

None of this would have worked but for the fact that Robert, Rt pointed out. That was a jew had given the Russians the Atomic bomb.

If those two white racist powers were the only ones with the bomb, all the love in the world would not have freed the countries under the total control of the british and the US.

It was, as Robert, RT said, the fear that those OTW countries would aline with the Russians in an atomic war that forced both the US to freed their blacks and the british to leave India and the subsequent subjugated OTW nations they had raped and pillaged for more than 300 straight years.

The fear of FORCE was the motivator in all those cases. Love is the dream the defenseless dream because they have no other hope until one rises from within their ranks.

Using it as a springboard to get the attention of their oppressors, that person(s) lets them know that if love doesn’t work he has the backing of the majority to use force. That threat usually turns the tide.

  5. Cassie Says:

What I am tired of is the MSM continuing to give credence to the gun nuts’ claim they are afraid someone is going to take their guns away.

That’s not true! It is just a ploy to continue to be able to buy bigger and more powerful guns without any regulation.

Merely tiny dick wonders, satisfying their physical inadequacies with a big gun.

  6. Naji Says:

Michelle, you can drop all the people filled with Love you wish into Syria, but if you don’t include gas masks and bulletproof vests with them, you will end up with a bunch of dead lovers.

    لا الجسد هو آمنة هنا.

  7. Jing Sun Says:

May 4th, 1970 proved that without OTWs in the power stream, whites will obey any order to kill their fellows unarmed citizen. The liars in your country try to portray the US as a place where the army would not do that.

Well ask the two young males and two young females that were murdered on that day. No one was ever charged. The reason was to insure that if the order was given again it would be followed.

Although some OTWs would fire on their own if ordered to do so by their officers. I can assure that an army with black members would never obey a white order to shoot fellow unarmed blacks.

That is another reason white fear blacks above all other OTWs in your country.

  8. From the Desk of Nancy Pelosi Says:

    Making It In America
When I meet local business owners across San Francisco, like on recent merchant walks in Noe Valley and the Sunset, I often tell them that after marriage, starting a small business is the most optimistic thing anyone can do. Every day these entrepreneurs take on the challenge of owning and running a business with optimism, strength, and hope – driving our economy and building a brighter future. That’s why in Washington I’m fighting to help small businesses and manufacturers with the “Make It In America” initiative, so our families, our workers, and our middle class can make it in America.

Earlier today, I was proud to tour local small business and manufacturer Heath Ceramics to help launch the upcoming SFMade Week, May 6th to May 12th, and San Francisco Small Business Week, May 13th to May 18th, along with local business owners, SFMade, the Mayor’s Office of Small Business and Juma Ventures.

We can return to the day when more goods and more products around the world are stamped with the proud words: “Made in America.”

Our “Make It In America” agenda is built on four key pillars:
    Enacting a national manufacturing strategy.
Promoting the export of U.S. goods.
    Encouraging insourcing and innovation.
    Training a 21st century workforce.
By enacting this agenda we can stop the erosion of our manufacturing base, ensure our competitiveness worldwide, and create a level playing field for working families by building a future of prosperity with an economy built to last.

San Francisco has always been a proud bastion for small business, for manufacturing, and for American-made products, making it the perfect example of how our national drive to “Make It In America,” leads the way in economic growth, job creation, and innovation.

Congresswoman Pelosi tours Heath Ceramics with co-owner Robin Petravic in the Mission to highlight the House Democrats “Make It In America” agenda, SFMade Week and San Francisco Small Business Week.

Celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements, rich cultures, and extraordinary contributions of the AAPI community. In San Francisco, we are blessed with a vibrant and growing AAPI community, which strengthens our city by reminding us the beauty is in the mix. We should pass, without further delay, comprehensive immigration reform so that AAPI families are united and our diversity as a city and nation remain a virtue of America’s strengths.

Cinco de Mayo Honors Our History
For over 150 years, Cinco de Mayo has been a source of pride to the people of Mexico—representing freedom, patriotism, and unity. Here in the United States, it has been an opportunity to honor the contributions, heritage, and rich history of Mexican Americans and all Hispanic Americans. The story of Cinco de Mayo will forever remain an inspiration and call of hope to families across the world.

  9. Anna of Guam Says:

Come on Guam get it together.

HAGATNA, Guam — Internet speeds at Guam’s schools are too slow, making the costs of connecting the service ineligible for federal reimbursement, the Pacific Daily News reported Thursday (http://ow.ly/kEBO2 ).

  10. John Says:

jing, you obscene sons of bitches should shut up criticizing a democratic country. China is so full of small dicks they build concrete dick buildings.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/02/china-peoples-daily-penis-newspaper-building_n_3197840.html?utm_hp_ref=world

    =============================

Get your shit in order before you come on this blog with your crap.

  11. Hannah Says:

My husband is at that convention too. He took our son and two daughters. They are all gun crazy nuts. Interestingly I am the only one in the family with military experience. I served 8 years as a nurse in the army.

My kids are basically as gutless as their military dodging father. They are all talk and no commitment. Give them a gun and defenseless target and they are Captain America.

  12. Butler Says:

What’s wrong with the world you ask? How about the lack of any morals by most of white america? How about the fact that most of white america vote color over anything even their own best interest.

i.e Elizabeth Colbert Busch, Mark Sanford Race Down To The Wire In South Carolina. What does this say about what’s wrong in this world? Quite simply it says if you are white and running against anything not white it really does not matter if you are corrupt or morally bankrupt because your constituents, are only voting white.

  13. Candi Says:

Obama talks about the bonds we share as an American family. To OTWs and a few whites it means all of America coming together to share a set of ideals, laws, that make us one family. But to most white americans it means “when we whites need you OTWs okay, but fuck you otherwise because this is our country and you are just things we tolerate.”

  14. Debra Says:

Butler what you said is so true. That’s why I find it difficult to accept the trite theories of white women like Marianne Williamson until they first address the true problem of this world or at least mine in this country. That would be RACISM.

Racists love each other. But they don’t love others from other races. That is the problem. They don’t pursue anything but their own individual ambitions. They are easily motivated by those who wish to enrich themselves off the ignorance and moral weaknesses of others.

  15. General Info Says:

    The Best Money Apps
Appeared in the print version as “My Favorite Money Apps”

Get the best deals…track your investments…find a cash machine anywhere

You may know about some basic smartphone financial apps such as those that help you with your taxes or your bank and brokerage accounts. But there are many more that can help you keep on top of your personal finances in a variety of ways.

Here, my favorite apps for various financial goals. All of the apps have versions for iPhones and Android-based devices. They also work with handheld devices that are not connected to cellular networks, such as the iPod Touch and Samsung Galaxy Player, as long as you have wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi).

    MANAGING YOUR MONEY
Spending tracker: Easy Envelope Budget Aid is a digital version of the old “envelope” method of budgeting. It helps you stick to weekly or monthly budget limits without the hassle of keeping the actual cash separated.

You set up virtual envelopes on your smartphone in categories such as groceries, rent, transportation and entertainment, and you specify how much cash goes in each. When you conduct a transaction, you manually input it on the Easy Envelope Budget Aid app and that amount automatically is subtracted from the appropriate envelope. Inputting is easy because your GPS location is used to suggest payees such as a grocery store or gas station that you have frequented in the past.

The app also allows the data that you input to sync with the smartphones of your spouse, other family members or a roommate. The free version, which includes 10 weekly virtual envelopes and 10 annual ones, allows for two smartphone users. Other versions, which provide additional envelopes and support more smartphones, start at $3 per month. http://www.EEBACanHelp.com

    Account coordinator:
Mint, which has more than 10 million users, provides a snapshot of where you stand financially right on your smartphone. You input password and account-number information from all your credit cards, mortgages, car loans, bill payments, investment brokerage and bank accounts and more. Mint automatically compiles and updates all the information. You also can search through past transactions on the go. Free. http://www.Mint.com

    Digital expense reports:
If you are not careful about keeping business lunch receipts or dislike hunting through crumpled scraps of paper to document your tax deductions or travel and entertainment expenses for work, Shoeboxed Receipt Tracker is for you.

How it works: You snap a picture of your receipts with the Shoeboxed app and Shoeboxed enters the information, including dates, total amounts, the form of payment used and scans of the original documents, and stores it all in a searchable digital account for you.

You can categorize the digitalized receipts and generate expense reports, then e-mail them or export them to personal finance, accounting or tax-preparation software. Free 30-day trial…$9.95/month after that. http://www.Shoeboxed.com

    ACCESSING YOUR MONEY
Money finder: ATM Hunter helps you find cash machines close to your location anywhere in the world. Your phone’s GPS identifies where you are and provides a list of ATMs in the MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus networks, along with directions and maps. Tailor your search based on features such as operating hours…the ability to make a deposit…ATMs that are surcharge-free…and ATMs in particular banks. Free. http://www.MasterCard.us/mobile.html

    Payment processor:
The mobile version of the leading online payment processor, PayPal, allows you to send money for personal or business use from the road, withdraw funds from your PayPal account or transfer money to other PayPal accounts or to your own bank account. It also helps you locate merchants in the area who accept PayPal. Free. http://www.PayPal.com

    SPENDING YOUR MONEY
Converter: Currency is a foreign currency conversion calculator with exchange rates updated daily for more than 180 countries. Free. http://www.CurrencyApp.com

    Loyalty card keeper:
Key Ring scans and saves the bar-coded information from plastic loyalty and rewards cards that you get from supermarkets, pharmacies and the like so that you don’t need to clutter your key ring or wallet with physical versions. You just call up the reward card bar code on your smartphone at the checkout counter and let the clerk scan it. You also can receive digital updates on special offers from the stores. Free. http://www.KeyRingApp.com

    Price comparer:
RedLaser bar-code scanner allows you to scan any item in a store, then automatically access the Internet and search Google, Amazon and other online shopping guides to get price comparisons from online and offline retailers, including stores near your location. Example: A camera for $748.99 at Best Buy was found online for $549—almost $200 saved. Free. http://RedLaser.com
