Humane Officer Kills Kittens

Good morning.

I woke up this morning to a write about a humane officer who pulled out his gun and killed innocent kittens in front of young chldren. Yes, you read that correctly. A Humane officer? Really? That’s an oxymoron if there ever was one. Disgusting. Any officer who takes a gun and shoots innocent baby animals, and in front of young children, is far from humane.

Here’s the write from the Huff Po. Click here to watch he video.

Bob Accorti, Police Officer, Shoots Five Feral Kittens In Ohio

A police officer is under fire for shooting five kittens to death in front of children in North Ridgeville, Ohio.

The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals wants animal cruelty charges to be pressed against Officer Bob Accorti, WKYC reported.

Accorti, who is the Humane Officer for the North Ridgeville Police Department, was dispatched to a home Monday after a homeowner reported that a family of feral cats was living in their yard, according to ABC 15.

The woman noted that the cat family was causing a flea problem that spread to her home. Her husband had already tried to remove the kittens himself, but they growled and hissed at him, according to an NRPD press release obtained by WTAM.

She told police that when Accorti showed up, he told her that the animal shelters were full but that the cats would go to “kitty heaven.” He then shot the five kittens, who were all between 8 and 10 weeks old, though the mother cat was able to flee with her life.

The homeowner noted that her four children, ages 5 months to 7 years, were watching from inside the house and started screaming and crying when the shooting began. The woman said she understood the animals were going to be euthanized, but she didn’t realize Accorti was going to shoot them next to her house.

NRPD Chief Mike Freeman wrote in the press release, “I have decided [Accorti's] actions were appropriate and have decided not to impose any disciplinary measures for the incident.”

He added, “Research and other animal organizations accept shooting as an acceptable means of euthanasia.”

The chief did admit that Accorti should have communicated better with the homeowner about how the animals would be killed.

Terese Landon, executive director of the Ohio SPCA, told The Morning Journal that she believes Accorti should be prosecuted for his actions.

“The kittens were just sitting there,” Landon said. “They didn’t have to die. They were only 10 months old at most and they still could have been socialized.”

*******

Readers: And then you have the NRPD Chief decide that the officer’s actions were appropriate? Are you kidding? No doubt, once again, were seeing the actions of little dick men trying to prove their manhood and manliness through the trigger of a gun. Preying on innocent defenseless creatures takes no courage and strength, and is sickening enough. And then you do it in the company of children? This proves to the world that you have no feeling…no compassion and you’re still the little boy that never grew up and became a man. It seems that is the growing trend with men these days.

I am outraged by this boy’s behavior, and the fact that nothing is being done…yet. I HOPE the town of North Ridgeville, and the animal rights activists don’t give up on this.

Peace & Love to all our furry friends.

  1. Lois Says:

    Just sick!

  2. Larry Says:

North Ridgeville has a serious problem and it’s on four legs, two of them belong to Accorti and the other two belong to Freeman. If this story is accurate, the (in)Humane Officer created a dangerous situation by firing his weapon in public. A competent officer would do everything in his power NEVER to discharge his weapon outside of a shooting stall. But apparently this clown has an erectile dysfunction problem and needs to fire his gun to prove he is a man. Or maybe he was in fear for his life, being meowed to death by baby kittens?

Then Police Chief Freeman compounds the matter by determining Accorti did nothing wrong and tries to explain it away by ridiculously suggesting that animal organizations approve of capping kittens in the back of the head. When I read that comment my first thought was, “did I just wake up on Bizarro World?”

Accorti is a threat to every citizen that comes in contact with him. Freeman is a threat to an entire community for his indefensible decision not to discipline Accorti.

Mayor Gillock has an opportunity to right this ship.

  3. Denise Says:

the only way this is justified is if they all were infected with rabies! cant decide this without a vet! and to shoot infront of children?! THIS IS ANIMAL CRUELTY! This officer mis-used his authority and his weapon! Shame on you!

  4. William Says:

    What a trashbag.

  5. Christine Says:

They don’t get fired for shooting up a car with people who had no weapon why would he get fired for murdering poor kittens…

  6. Lorrie Says:

You are never justified in shooting them. If they are infected with something you take them back to a shelter and put them to sleep peacefully. This so called person needs let go from his job ASAP.

  7. George Says:

I want to hunt him like a wild animal and skin him alive!

  8. Marilyn Says:

Absolutely Fullest extent of the law. They are not above the law. We would be arrested and be in the News.So should He.

  9. James Says:

Now now George, that’s not the answer. Just hunt him and let him think he is going to be skinned like a wild animal. Inflict a little of that psychological trauma that he exposed those kids to on him!

  10. Melissa Says:

Remember the BTK serial killer in Kansas who had worked as a city animal control officer? Small, dark haired, balding man with glasses? Bet he enjoyed killing kittens too before he graduated to torturing and killing people. I tell you, this officer needs to be dismissed and ordered to receive therapy. Something is not quite “right” with him.

  11. Shari Says:

    Justified? NOT!

  12. Oliver Says:

Christine, Sadly enough, you are so right.

  13. Richard Says:

While I hate this incident, calling it murder is silly.

  14. Michael Says:

All the effort people are putting into trying to get this person fired, for following protocol, should put that effort into having the actual protocol changed.

  15. Brad Says:

Richard, A life is a life. I always wondered why humans thought it was okay to value human life any higher than any other life on the planet… You think a bear cares that you are a HUMAN life? There’s nothing grade a extra special about a human life. That being said by definition it still is murder. (Even if the law doesn’t recognize it as so)

  16. Kelly Says:

Michael Fulkerson: Did you read the article? “Accorti allegedly told the homeowner that he isn’t supposed to do this, but it was justifiable.” … “City officials tell WKYC that they are looking into what the proper protocol is for such a situation.”

  17. Karen Says:

This man is must have a mental issue. He needs to be terminated from this job. What kind of human being with any kind of heart in your chest, could possibly shoot baby kittens. Sick. Sick. Sick. The city of North Ridgeville should fire him immediately and charge him. Why would they even want to be associated with this sick individual?

  18. Krystal Says:

That is so disgusting. Without knowing what that exact definition of that job title was, why was he armed? Did he call in the discharge of his weapon, and if so what could he possibly use as a justification?

To fire a weapon with children close by for something like this? WOW. Obviously integrity, humanity, decency, and the LAW are NOT something he holds very dear. Hopefully that will lead to jail time, and a lack of his rights.

  19. Jerry Says:

    count 1. cruelty to animals.
count 2. unlawful discharge of a firearm.
    count 3. endangering the public.
count 4. anything else that can be thought of.
and how about just being STUPID…….
    pick him up NOW…
he is a danger to the general public. also needs a 72 hour mental hold. NOW
when convicted take his firearms FOREVER!!!!!
he can not be trusted with the responsibility anymore.
i also think the mom should sue him and the animal control for her kids nightmares.
    what a punk a$$ jerk…………….

  20. Allen Says:

I would bet he would be clinically diagnosed as a psychopath.

  21. Dave Says:

Makes me wonder what kind of police officer he was.

  22. Todd Says:

Allen Oh, I’m sure he enjoyed killing them. Clearly a sociopath, and a danger to have someone like this with a weapon in a position of power. How many serial killers started with animals. Killing is the last thing a good officer would ever want to do.

There was no justification for it, he felt it easier to murder them than trap them and try and find them a foster home. How the hell did this creep ever get hired? He should be charged with multiple crimes. Please sign the petition on change.org to get this guy fired.

  23. Joseph Says:

Dave, That is the million dollar question.

  24. Todd Says:

You gotta know what kind of cop he was. A bully type.

  25. Melissa Says:

He looks pretty young by his photo (too young to have retired). He probably did nasty stuff there too and they got rid of him although since they all protect each other you’ll never read about it.

  26. Anonymous Says:

Ym and Yw will you two find a motel quick.

  27. Yw Says:

    Anonymous,

I am trying to be with my man and I am frustrated that I cannot get in touch with him.

Ym, please call me. I miss you.
