New Texas Voter I.D. Law Disenfranchises Women

Good morning!

Disenfranchisement is still going strong with absurd Voter I.D. laws. Today, I’m talking about the state of Texas. Now according to their new voter I.D.law that just came into affect this week, it’s going to be a problem for women.

Now, when voting in Texas, voters need to show documentation when they never had to before. Since it is required for women to change their name on the I.D. to their husband’s name when they get married, obviously if they have been voting in the past, they will likely have their maiden name on their Voter registration card.  The law which requires you to show documentation is so strict, that if the name on your Driver’s License, differs from the name on your Voter Registration Card, sorry, you will either have trouble voting or you won’t be able to at all. Can you see how this can be a problem for women?

When this was first broached and the question was asked, “Could name change spur voter I.D. issue,” the answer from officials was “No.” Don’t ya love it? A man isn’t requires to change his name on his driver’s license when he get married, so of course any official, most likely a man, isn’t going to be concerned about this. Once again, women’s rights are not taken seriously and they are being messed with.

It is now a huge hassle for women like where their names may differ on deocuments, to vote in Texas if they are even going to be able to vote at all. Women are now experiencing this in early voting for the November elections which are not high stake elections. But…at the next midterm elections where the stakes are very high, this is going to be very different. Not to mention very scary if nothing is done between now and then to ensure that women will be able to cast a vote.

This in my opinion is just another tactic on the repubs part to disenfranchise women who are over 50% of the voters in this country. The repubs are fully aware that they have lost the female vote to the Dems, and this is their way of making sure that womens’ votes don’t count at all.

The old marital paperwork trick, hmm, methinks the ‘institution’ needs a whole new perspective.
Changing your name = I’m his possession
Diamond ring = I’m his possession (which is why you can become invisible to other men while wearing one. That bling bling states loudly that you are taken and it’s origin was in wanting to create the feminine fidelity factor)
White dress = oh please…your purity (as if you’re damaged goods if you’ve had more than one man meanwhile males are ‘supposed’ to get around, sounds like a bs bill of goods to me)
*sigh* who am I to talk, I took the name of another. Why’d I do it? Bc his last name was do much less complicated than my birth given surname. That’s it, he knew that and when I told his family that you could not have heard a quieter room. Yeah. I know a firebrand, right?
What can I tell you…I am who I am.

Howie, brilliant monologue. I always make the case that if humans can be so petty that we negate that other species matter simply bc they don’t use our ‘sophisticated’ language and thinking skills. Hmmm, while we do have the ability to think things through we usually don’t. We treat each other terrible (color/gender/sexual orientation) not to mention animals (Misch I knew I couldn’t stomach Paul mccartneys video but I finally did yesterday…not sure how I’ll handle my eating habits from this point but being a veg head would not be that difficult fr me) and then add to it the pollution and trashing of this place we call out home. People aren’t sophisticated, they’re childish and in almost every way. I love people and often cannot handle most, their circle of caring is incredibly limited and their capacity fr empathy and compassion is lacking. Thank you, blogging bro, fr bringing it out publicly in such an elegant summary.

My heart hurts today, a significant figure in my kids life passed away at 49 years old. Go hug someone today, pretend its me. I can’t seem to stop crying.
    *(& Misch, I want this : / )*

Read a GOP post on FB about: why do dems think GOP has war on women bc they want them to pay fr birth control meanwhile Obama is lightening sanctions in Iran which is under sharia law inferring that dems are okay w islam and sharia law RE women. You have to admire their oversimplifications based on just bc pill payments, it’d be funny if it wasn’t such a serious misrepresentation (lying) of, oh say – everything?!
