Good morning!

From TEDTalks:

WATCH: For 8 Years, She Convinced The World She Was A Boy. Now, She’s Making Us Rethink Sexuality

What if most of us aren’t “gay” or “straight,” but somewhere in between? Artist and activist iO Tillett Wright makes a passionate case for accepting the complexity of individuality — without making anybody feel like a second-class citizen. If her words don’t persuade you, the images she shares just might.

Great Parents using their child as a petri dish.

  3. Mark Says:

This is what you can look forward too. First comes gay marriage then comes more and more. Won’t be able to say anything about it either or you will be labeled a bigot.

Maybe they will counsel your child to consider whether they really are the sex they were born or not or maybe if they would like to be the opposite sex. I

sn’t that such a wonderful thing? The left is such a horrible ugly beast. It is long over due for being slain.

  4. Dmitry Says:

Please tell me this is a joke.

  5. Mandy Says:

I am not usually at a loss for words,i got this article from a liberal website and the comments all the same “what wonderful caring parents”,”great parents”….
Imagine they are letting a 8yr old decide what he wants and they think it is ok..

I am totally disgusted and at a loss for words…

  6. Blue Says:

And when the kid gets beat up on a regular basis, what are the loving parent’s going to do then? This boy is in for a world of hurt, and that’s just from the girls!

  7. Sawyer Says:

I’ll bet the parents are both nutcase liberals!

  8. Walter Says:

This kid was in a catholic school and is being moved to a public school. That alone should be considered abuse, but I guess if they are all getting more like Notre Dame, it is better I am doing it myself……

  9. John Says:

ITS NOT ABOUT RIGHT VS. LEFT, ITS ABOUT RIGHT VS. WRONG!

  10. Sniper Says:

  11. Chris Says:

I wonder if Ben has a Dad or if it is his Aunts,Mom and Grandma he lives with?

  12. Bob Says:

The parents should be tarred and feathered, set out to sea on a boat with no oars.

  15. Kirk Says:

Messed up parents make messed up kids.

  16. Gwen Says:

I have been thinking about that for my daughter but i get crap from everyone about how she will not be able to socialise with people.

  17. Cindy Says:

There are a billion and one reasons why homeschooling is good.

    Here’s just a small sampler:

  18. Lizavetta Says:

So if he says inside he is the Indian god Siva, or Cleopatra reincarnated, or a panda bear, or a cloud…….WHICH HE CLEARLY IS NOT……his diagnosis would be mentally disturbed.

But if he says inside he is a girl…..WHICH HE CLEARLY IS NOT…….he is, well, a girl.

No wonder the field of psychiatry has taken a beating over the years. They’re a joke.

  19. Alycedale Says:

When republican politicians are not lying, they’re stealing.

  20. Emma Says:

    Thank you Cindy#17..
My daughter is only 7 months old,so i have a while to go.
I looked at the link and you scared the sh*t out of me.

  21. Freda Says:

Parents of real girls at the school had better be up in arms if the school allows this kid to use the girl’s restroom.

  22. Cindy Says:

Emma#20, Well, I’m very glad you looked.

I’ve said for more years than I can count, “Homeschooling or a good private school or a combination of both — those really are the only options.”

  23. Alycedale Says:

To these asshole bigots, Diversity causes division and resentment.

  24. Ben Says:

Children are taken form parents who will not allow a blood transfusion— why aren’t the authorities rescuing this sick kid?

  25. Jenny Says:

Cindy#22, My husband and I were both homeschooled, we’ve heard that nonsense about socialization for over two decades and that’s all it is, nonsense. Do you really want your kid socialized with kids like the one in this article?

Metmom, ping for the “another reason” list.

  26. Hyzen Says:

Oh, PLEASE! My little sister went through a phase, around the same age, where she said she was ‘meant to be a boy’ and wore my brother’s hand-me-downs quite frequently, although she didn’t have an objection to wearing the occasional dress or my distinctly feminine hand-me-downs. Guess what happened?

Puberty started, her hormones kicked in, she started noticing boys and wanted them to start noticing her, and now she’s only a bit of a ‘tomboy’, and doesn’t identify as a boy or want to be one.

In my opinion, a kid doesn’t have a firm idea of ‘gender’ until they’ve reached puberty and their hormones start influencing them – until then, their idea of ‘gender’ is almost entirely based around arbitrary social constructs like ‘blue is for boys and pink is for girls’.

What does an 8-year-old girl have that an 8-year-old boy doesn’t, beyond Hannah Montana stuff and dolls instead of Spiderman stuff and trucks? Parents who encourage things like allowing a toddler to ‘change their gender’ are only going to make their child terribly confused during at least their teenage and adult years.

(Zen is not easy. It takes effort to attain nothingness. And then what do you have? Bupkis.)

  31. Evan Says:

George#28, You and RR can suck my dick.

  32. Kaylee Says:

Socialization. lol I used to laugh and say “if my son was any more socialized we’d never get around to doing school”. Art classes, tennis classes, church activities, book club, and the list could go on and on.

Honestly if we had taken advantage of all the activities available we would never have gotten around to doing school.

He graduated from college last Sunday.

  33. Gretta Says:

Ben#24, You do have a excellent point.
Maybe religious people bad future f*gs good.

  34. Mary Says:

Following behavioral testing, therapy and a lot of research, the parents have decided to switch their child to a public school and to let their son live as a girl.

They know the path Katie faces is long, difficult and fraught with controversy. Some scientists say the approach they are taking amounts to child abuse. Other scientists say any other response would be abuse.

(It IS child abuse! An 8 year old is not capable of making disastrous decision like that. Where the hell are the ADULTS or PARENTS?)

What might seem like a drastic, life-altering decision for their child is in fact the culmination of years of words and deeds that convinced Katie’s parents, extended family members and therapists of this: She is a girl born into a boy’s body.

(The CHILD is only 8 years old! Kids are learning their ROLES at that age. What a screwed up world this is. THIS IS CHILD ABUSE in the most hideous way.)

  35. God fearing Says:

(Intelligent people recognize Intelligent Design (God).)

  36. Dmitry Says:

Where the fuck is all this arguing going? Do we hate the nigger so much that we got to put him down at every opportunity. Let it the fuck go some times.

As for the topic: What will the “parents” do when he tires of being a “girl” and wants to go back to being a “boy”?

Is THIS what a CHILD CENTERED upbringing is all about?

It sure looks that way to me!

  37. Roger Says:

To you Valley Forge Republicans – Welfare was never meant to be a career choice.

  38. Bill Says:

God Fearing#35, so you think that having more hair grow in your nose and on your ears and less on your head as you age is “intelligent Design?”

That explains why you think there is a god and it is a he.
