Flap Your Lips Friday

Good morning!
In light of yesterday’s post. From the New York Times.
Kansas Is Looking Like the Key to Senate Control
The conventional wisdom for most of the year has been that Republicans have a clear advantage in the fight to take the Senate.
And they would, were it not for Kansas.
The G.O.P. appears to lead in seven Democratic-held seats, when they need only six to control the chamber. But control of the Senate could turn on whether a Republican incumbent, Pat Roberts, can win re-election in a state that almost no one considered a battleground just two months ago. The added complication is that almost no one knows for sure whether the challenger, Greg Orman, a businessman turned independent candidate, would caucus with the Democrats or the Republicans if he won.
Mr. Orman took an early lead after Chad Taylor, the Democratic candidate, withdrew from the race. One month later, and there could not be less of a consensus. Five surveys over the past week yielded this: Fox News has Mr. Roberts up by 5 points; a CNN poll has Mr. Roberts up by 1; CBS/NYT/YouGov poll shows a tie; a SurveyUSA poll shows Mr. Orman up 5; and an NBC/Marist poll shows Mr. Orman up by 10.
If one had to say who was ahead, Mr. Orman would probably still be the safe choice. But the more important takeaway is the tremendous uncertainty. The degree of variance among recent polls means that either candidate could have a lead. There are a lot of undecided voters as well.
Even if Mr. Roberts trails slightly, his position nonetheless seems to have improved. He hadn’t led in a one-on-one matchup with Mr. Orman until Wednesday, when two polls showed him with a lead. It could suggest that the state’s undecided, but predominantly Republican-leaning, voters are likely to break his way.
If Mr. Roberts has indeed made gains, it is not terribly surprising. Mr. Orman had uncontested control of the airwaves until a few weeks ago, when the Roberts campaign finally began airing television advertisements.
Mr. Roberts may be behind, he still has plenty of time to rally, especially since the Republicans haven’t yet invested a lot of money into his efforts. According to data from Kantar Media Group/CMAG, the Orman campaign aired 50 percent more television advertisements than the Roberts campaign over the two weeks ended Monday. Mr. Roberts has received a bit of assistance from Freedom Partners Action Fund, a group with ties to the Koch brothers, but only enough to level the score. A more robust Republican effort could presumably help Mr. Roberts out even more.
Without Kansas, the Republicans would probably need to win both Alaska and Iowa. That’s certainly possible because the Republicans appear to lead in both states. Leo gives the Republicans only a 54 percent chance of taking the Senate if they lose Kansas, not much better than a coin flip.
Mr. Orman has said he will caucus with whichever party wins a “clear majority,” but it is unclear what he would do if the Democrats won 49 seats and the Republicans won 50. Mr. Orman could still give the Democrats control by caucusing with them, making the Senate 50-50 and letting Vice President Joe Biden break any ties. The assumption is that Mr. Orman would caucus with the Democrats in that case because he has fairly liberal policy preferences.
But this is ultimately just an assumption. Mr. Orman might already know, deep down, exactly how he would vote in the event of a tie. Or he might have no idea whatsoever. We just don’t know, like just about everything else in this race.

All Those Intending to Vote: Just to be on the safe side, I suggest that you also check your local state website to confirm your deadline for voter registration, as I cannot validate the accuracy of the website that I have posted.
It’s Friday…start flapping your lips. Blog me.

Thank you Michelle for the video highlighting Elizabeth Warren. She’s a political rock star in my book. I read today that Warren Buffet is saying that Hilary is going to run for president – no surprise there – but she’s a bitter pill to swallow when you compare her ethics to Warren’s.
Before I go, congratulations to Malala Yousafzai, who won the 2014 Nobel Peace prize. According to the Nobel committee, at 17 she’s the youngest ever peace prize winner. Way to go!!!

Lazy democrats just need to get out and vote.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:04 am
Most of the whites that I know in this state are still in the day when they could treat OTWs as little more than shit on their shoes.
I hope that they will not vote for Pat Roberts. The opportunist doesn’t even live in the state.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:06 am
Roberts is a loser looking to make some of the money his fellow republicans are making from taking bribes from the super rich.
He is only where he is in the polls because most of the white in this state are voting against Obama because he is black.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:09 am
White voters in Kansas know we are voting to keep that nigger from ruining this country. First off the last two polls indicate that Roberts is ahead. Then they look at the poll that skews their average to show that Orman is ahead. That poll had 82% white respondents but in recent elections the voters were 90% white. The other recent polls sampled consistent with the recent ethnic turnout number.
The next poll should be very interesting and probably showing that Roberts is in a better position than the pundits have been bloviating. The novelty of Orman’s claimed independent status is wearing off as voters learn of his background, that he finally has answered who he will caucus with, the Democrats and that as an independent he will have no say in party leadership.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:10 am
34 years!? It’s time for the people of Kansas to cut this pig loose from the public feeding trough.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:13 am
The key to the Senate isn’t going to be whether OTWS get out and vote in Kansas. Kansas is 90% white and bigots go to the polls.
The key is the White woman vote. And frankly I wouldn’t bet the farm on my sisters. They are basically dumb as dirt.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:16 am
The republicans are doing everything in their imagination to steal this election. They aren’t worried about the legality of what they do because they have the highest court in the land bought and paid for.
If the dems can hold on the the Senate I will thank God. He is the only one that can pull that miracle off.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:19 am
The Fox News poll puts Republicans ahead in five key states:
Alaska: Republican Dan Sullivan leads incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, 44-40.
Arkansas: Republican US Rep. Tom Cotton leads incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor, 46-39.
Colorado: Republican US Rep. Cory Gardner leads incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Udall, 43-37.
Kentucky: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell leads Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes, 45-41.
Kansas: Incumbent GOP Sen. Pat Roberts leads Independent challenger Greg Orman, 44-39. In the CNN poll, Roberts led 49-48. This is a swing from most other recent polls that have shown Orman with an advantage.
Republicans need to hold onto all of their contested seats — most prominently, challenges in Kansas, Kentucky, and Georgia — and swing six current Democratic-held seats to regain control of the US Senate. Democrats had gotten good news recently with Orman’s improved standing in Kansas, along with new developments in South Dakota — where Democratic and Independent candidates are closing the gap with former Republican Gov. Mike Rounds.

Forget “titles”. OUT with the old and in with NEW people that will DO what they promise and give them one year at a time as a testing period. A lifetime job hasn’t worked out very well on either side and we really don’t have any more chances to take back America and be able to salute our flag, say a prayer, believe in whatever we wish as long as it does not cause harm to otherseach our teach our kids OUR beliefs, not some whack jobs beliefs.
In other words we need to repo Republicans and delete Dems to put in Independents that can’t buy their way in but will truly do the will of “We the people” that must be given the power back to hire them, and fire them. Our Constitution was not written to be edited or revised and when we were respecting it things sure went a lot better than they have since “anything goes” Liberals showed up!

If we ever want a true Democracy again, we must do two things:
1) Outlaw Political Parties altogether. Politicians should not be able to form groups that share resources in any way shape or form. There is obviously a political du-opoly in this country. We hire politicians to represent a specific constituency, not tote a party line. When businesses get together and agree to operate the same way, that is called collusion, and it is illegal. Why can politicians do this.
2) Pass a Fair Tax – an equal percentage for EVERYONE – regardless of income. Any law relating to taxes should effect everyone equally. A differential tax bracket actually undermines Democracy. When people who have no “skin in the game” (i.,e., don’t have to pay taxes or have to pay a disproportionately lower share of taxes) get to vote, they will always vote for more handouts. Once the takers are the majority ( and we are very close right now), it’s over. Those leeches would vote very differently if they actually had some skin in the game – guaranteed.

Election polling data is not a litmus test for how the actual election is going to play out. The reality is that about 45% of the voting population is going to vote blue because they’ve always voted blue. Another 45% of the voting population is going to vote red because they’ve always voted red. The remaining 10% is the variable consisting of the Independents and issue-based voters and represents the swing vote.
The second reality is that campaigning doesn’t really sway the voting popultion, as it’s a group of like minded people slappinig each other on the back. Republicans are going to fill the seats at a Republican campaign event. Democrats are going to fille the seats and pass the offering plate at Democratic campaign events. There may be a handful of people that go to the events to listen to the campaign platforms and grasp the issues, but the majority of people who attend these events have already made up their minds and they are emotionally and financially vested in the election results.
The next reality is that this is a mid-term election and not a Presidential election. On average throughout the nation between 18 and 25% of the voting population actually show up for the mid-terms. So, one in six people is going to cast a vote that impacts the entire population.
I believe the swing voters are most influenced by the political non-political events and the media within 30 days of the actual election. I anticipate that the polls will wildly fluctuate over the next 30 days. I also believe that a hallmark event (political or other event — something that makes the history books) in the next 30 days could easily re-shape the election results.
All of that said, research the controversial issues facing State and Federal govenment if you are not already aware of them. Research the political candidates. Enage a campaigning candiate in conversation and let them know what you value most important in your belief structure. Decide which candidates align with your belief system and then cast your vote intelligently. This is the only way that our political system accurately reflects the will of the people.

28th Amendment: “Each and EVERY legislator shall read EACH Bill in its entirety, and score 95% or higher on a Quiz about EACH Bill before being allowed to Vote on the Bill. Any Legislator missing three or more votes in one Legislative Session shall be summarily removed from office and replaced with a new member chosen by their home State Executive Authority within one calendar week.”
The intended consequences of this Amendment include: Shorter, easier to understand legislation, less opportunity for pork, far greater accountability for legislators, LESS legislation…..
You’ll notice that this is NOT a partisan Amendment, and the list of benefits for democracy just goes on and on……
October 11th, 2014 at 6:25 am
John#9, I think you haven’t taken in account that Madaline is working to right the crooked activities of the republican party. The only poll that matters is on election day. Anything else is just drama.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:27 am
Think of all the bad news delivered to the American people over the last 6 years by Dem’s. And don’t any of you liberal slime tell me anything about the Republicans, for the first (4) years of Obama’s Administration YOU Liberal Shits, had the Presidency, and Both houses within your control, and you were so irresponsible that you lost the House, and now are in great jeopardy of losing the Senate, Obama has a rating that is in the toilet, so what do you have to say, oh wait I bet I know… it’s Bush’s fault.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:28 am
William#15, And what do you think you Repucks will do when they run your life. Just open your eyes and see what they are doing now. If you can’t see it than shame on you.
My girls have a right to do whatever they want with their body. They don’t need the right wing nuts telling them what to do. They are trying to take us back to the 1800′s So if the dip chits would of help the President we could have got a lot done with Jobs and the works. So shove it where the sun don’t shine.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:32 am
The cost of a room for the Ebola patient is aprox 1,000.00 a day. I believe it is far greater. Clean his home, isolate everyone exposed, hunt them down to account for a hundred or maybe more. Police, doctor, nurse, hospital cleaners. Gear to protect everyone that doesn’t work in all cases. On and on..
Why should we have to pay for this and hurt our economy with all the debt we are already in. There is no end to the waste and spending unnecessary risk to our already stressed and bankrupt country. We pay all the bills and should get respect and be put first above all the politicians that work for us..
October 11th, 2014 at 6:34 am
@Laura#16, if your referring to abortion: you should thank your folks and your girls should thank you….. at least you have that. It’s been such a scam…. what a waste, what a disappointment!
October 11th, 2014 at 6:36 am
As I’ve been saying for some time now, the GOP WILL take over the Seante in Nov., and it will be mostly because of King Odumbo, who has to be the most pizz poor president this country has EVER had! I’m proud to say that I never voted for his sorry black ass.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:37 am
The only way the Repucks can win is to cheat. Blocking voting lying. everything coming out of the mouth is a lie. If they couldn’t cheat they would not win.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:39 am
Barbara#17, Try at least 10,000 a day. America will soon go bankrupt and be swimming in tears when this disease that nigger in the White House brought here really gets going. Good Luck.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:40 am
Barbara#17, Except Obama told everyone he was going to do it and they voted for him in 2008. Then we had a chance in 2012 to vote against Obamacare and people voted for it.
If Romney could have articulated a health care plan in 2012 he would be president today. All Romney had was Romneycare which the Heritage Foundation designed and supported until Obama used the idea then every Republican flip flopped. But that’s nothing new.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:41 am
@Laura#20, it sounds like your describing the democrats. Does Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and the other democratic party leaders seem honest, real, and truthful to you? It’s been such a scam…. what a waste, what a disappointment!
October 11th, 2014 at 6:42 am
Laura, I feel bad for your girls having an idiot mother!
October 11th, 2014 at 6:44 am
Barbara#17, why should I pay for the fire department to put out your house when it’s on fire? Come to think of it, why should I pay for the military to go defend your family against terrorism — I live in an out of the way area that will never be affected, so I’m safe.
It’s the same idea when it comes to things like Ebola, and you’re selfish.
Our nation operates on the same principle that other modern societies do: That some things cannot be done by individuals operating alone, and thus we have to pool our resources for the greater good of all. Attitudes like yours undermine the central tenets of our entire country.
October 11th, 2014 at 6:45 am
Barbara#17, why do you pretend to be smart and informed when your neither ??
October 11th, 2014 at 6:47 am
Barbara#17, The hospital and all those RACISTS in Texas only gave this NON-US CITIZEN over $500,000 of FREE medical care. After he came into this country and EXPOSED CHILDREN to this deadly disease.
They should have ARRESTED HIM ON SIGHT! The charge??? Reckless Endangerment of a child. He KNEW he had ebola. Instead we give him over half a million dollars in free health care and what do we get??
We get called RACISTS!! The Liberals in this country make me SICK!!!
October 11th, 2014 at 6:52 am
Michelle it is just too difficult to get on your blog all day I was locked out. As for your twisted comment Raymond. They were called racists because they sent a black man home with antibiotics when he came in with a 103 Degree temperature with symptoms of ebola while telling them he was recently from Africa.
Our children were put in jeopardy because of them sending the black guy home without the care they would have given to a white man. Their racist behavior exposed our children to ebola.
If anyone should be charged it should be those racist bastards at the hospital.
Get your facts straight.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:01 am
Laura#16, don’t worry bout your daughters being told how to live. they eat in the food controlled lunchrooms and will be able to get monthly pills at age 12. and if they do get pregnant, they can get an abortion from the government and you won’t know.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:04 am
Unfortunately for you Dan#26, you make Barbara#17 look like a rocket scientist.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:08 am
Erik#25, You are a parasite. Do the universe a favor and jump off of a very high cliff in a very remote location.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:09 am
Barbara#17, people just keep pulling the same leaver year after year get the same old people in office who could care less about America or its people we need American people in office who like and love the American people and our country
October 11th, 2014 at 7:14 am
Yay. Buzz#31 and Barbara#17, both can’t spell AND can’t behave like adults.
Run out of coherent things to say? So you had to resort to blabbering insults? Nice to know. Doesn’t prove me wrong though.
If you agree with Barbara#17, you’re declaring that your selfishness is more important than the good of the society in which you find yourself, and that’s tantamount (sorry, big words… it means “pretty much the same as” — you might get that one as a vocab word next year in junior high) to saying you should be able to choose whose homes are destroyed by fire because you don’t feel like paying for the fire department all the time.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:15 am
Kennedy asked NASA to put a man on the moon in less than a decade. An analysis by Space Review estimated the entire Apollo program cost was $109 Billion in today’s money. That is $0.1 Trillion. NASA achieved its’ mission, not just once but 6 times, putting 12 men on the surface, 3 of which I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
It provided thousands and thousands of jobs, spun off hundreds of technological innovations, and a sense of American pride.
By comparison, the War on Poverty has consumed over $22 Trillion or over TWO HUNDRED times what the Apollo program cost, has produced absolutely NOTHING of value, is an abject failure and a classic case of the law of unintended consequences. http://townhall.com/columnists/johnstossel/2014/10/08/poverty-n1901933/page/2
October 11th, 2014 at 7:18 am
Stryker#12, You’re close stryker but off on your numbers, 47% will vote for liberal #$%$ because they get a handout or freebie from them. Only 37% will vote red. That means to save America the right needs 14% more of the independents and undecided to vote with them and the socialists only need to fool another 4%.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:21 am
Powell said about Bush Sr not going into Iraq “to finish the job”, if you break it, you better be prepared to fix it. Bush Jr went and opened Pandora’s Box and the rest is history. To mix metaphors, Humpty Dumpty is broken and all the king’s horses and all the king’s men cannot put Humpty Dumpty together again.
As for Maliki, the democratically elected Iraqi parliament did not approve of the the US Troops’ continued presence before Obama became president without the troops being subject to Iraqi laws for war crimes.
Maliki was elected before Obama became president, if memory serves me right. Are you suggesting the US dictate to a democratically elected leader what he has to do after “establishing democracy” there?!
October 11th, 2014 at 7:23 am
I hope Michelle and Madaline are on the job because WHO’S counting the vote is the only thing that matters.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:25 am
I am tired of conservatives telling me what history has shown to be true. Conservatives perhaps you should look in the mirror and see who really needs an education. I doubt there is anything you can teach me.
I have studied the last 60 years of history and I have lived it. No, your brand of conservative gobble can’t teach much of anything. This is no longer the 19th century, and the conservatives need to get on board or get left behind.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:26 am
You niggers and wet backs are the ones who live off the taxpyers like yourself. the ones who live off welfare, EBT cards and any other Government handout. All created by LBJ and the Dems Great Society. So are your 3rd generation lazy and lame Jon?
October 11th, 2014 at 7:27 am
Kellis#38, you are sixty years of idiocy!!! Liberal suck!!!!!! If you don’t believe me ask Bill Clinton. He knows.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:28 am
Conservatives don’t ‘educate’ people of the ‘truth’, they make up ‘facts’ and ‘information’ in whatever way best supports their political views. Never trust a conservative, because truly decent people want to help people get back on their feet, and thereby support measures that provides temporary financial assistance like welfare.
Conservatives are nothing but trash, and nothing can be expected from the things they say except the foul stench that exudes from total Bullshit. WMD’s were moved from Iraq to Syria? What a bunch of malarkey with absolutely no proof.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:29 am
Wallis#40, you are spot on. Kellis appears to have Bachelors of BS Propaganda form MSNBC University.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:30 am
Kellis#38 people like u make me sick
October 11th, 2014 at 7:31 am
Timothy#42, Put your teeth in and go get teabagged.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:32 am
I can see in some of the liberal comments that they feel desperate and they should. Anyone who still backs Obama is either a complete left wing nut job or a nigger lover.
I cannot believe people still have Obama bumper stickers on their cars. For the people still bringing up Bush, you only prove you have nothing of substance to back up Obama’s performance.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:34 am
I wish republicans would move to their utopia in north korea which ahs the very kinds of things they have been hoping for all along
October 11th, 2014 at 7:35 am
@Terry46, Don’t you see we are already heading to socialism? Obama’s policies promote that, giveaways, socialized medicine etc..
We have the shanty towns (Detroit for an example). Please tell me how conservatives promote fascism?
October 11th, 2014 at 7:38 am
All you wanting the government to order businesses to raise the minimum wage don’t understand how this works. The money to give the raises has to come from an increase in the prices or services they are selling.
So you get a one dollar an hour raise, but every business you need will raise the cost of these product or service by one dollar or more, so everything you buy your rent, your gas, your car your insurance your medical pot all go up in price. That’s because the minimum wage is a floor at which wages for people entering the work force start. It’s true that in the last 6 years many jobs are not paying anymore than the minimum wage.
There are numerous reasons for this. Fewer businesses hiring, too many applicants for too few jobs, mass illegal immigration flooding the labor market with millions of unskilled workers who will work all day long for minimum wage because it’s a fortune compared to the wages there used to back home in the countries they should be sent back home to.
Under the present administration, president Obama the cost of business has risen to a point that there is no more money left for raises after meeting all the government mandates, Obama care, regulation, increased legal costs to meet hundreds of rules and regulations handed down by government bureaucrats who have no idea about running your business and couldn’t care less.
Regulations such as forcing every business in America to have special restrooms or parking spaces for handicapped people, even businesses that don’t deal with anyone hand capped, even businesses with only 2 employees. This is just one example but all these rules all sound good but the money has to come from somewhere or someone to cover these costs, and in businesses that operate on competition with other businesses and on a very small margin of profit it is coming out of your pocket in no raises.
Government can order businesses to pay for these things but when to cost becomes too great the business will be forced to shut down.
That means no job at all, you stay home and collect welfare and unemployment if you even qualify for it. Glad I could help.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:39 am
Timothy#47 – Every single first world nation IN THE WORLD except for the US has some form of Socialized medicine. The reason for that is most people see health care as a right and a privilage of the rich.
And it amazes me how many idiot conservatives complain about “Socialized medicine, yet they take advantage of Medicaid and Medicare, BOTH are Socialized medicine!
Aside from that, what “giveaways” are you referring to??
And Detroit is an example of mismanagement on a local level and has little to do with federal level politics…
October 11th, 2014 at 7:40 am
Typos in my last post:
The reason for that is most people see health care as a right and *not* a privilage of the rich.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:41 am
The Democrats could care less about this monumental waste of money. They buy votes by giving away taxpayer money to the “poor”, in numerous schemes which are morally wrong.
Wrong because taking money by force from some people and giving it to others who do absolutely nothing for it is wrong. They have no morals, however, and will do nearly anything to gain power. Lying and breaking the law are of no consequence to them if they get their way by doing so.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:42 am
Oliver#48, that’s the same Old argument used every time we raise the minimum wage and it has been proven wrong every single time.
Timothy–there is NO waiting period in Canada or anywhere else for NEEDED surgery.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:46 am
@Oliver#48 – Sorry, my friend, but it is YOU that doesn’t get the big picture here.
Yes, the money has to come from somewhere, but it’s not a dollar for dollar raise in prices. I’m a small business owner, and although my prices would have to go up, it would a nominal amount.
That being said, if minimum wage is increased, that puts more money into the hands of people that will go out and SPEND IT at the very same establishments that have to raise wages. That creates more demand, which in turn creates the need for more workers, which creates more money in those workers’ hands who will go out and spend it, creating more demand… etc…
That’s how an economy grows. This has been PROVEN to work every time minimum wage has been raised over that past 4 decades! Minimum wage goes up, and the economy gets a jolt. Look it up.
@Patrick#51 – First off, the term is “Democrats *couldn’t* care less. Learn some proper grammar.
Second, I’m a Democrat, I’m a small business owner, and yet I have no desire to “buy votes…” I even have great morals.
People like you should just stay quiet and let the grown ups talk…
@Timothy – If the US health system is so great compared to Canada, why is Canada #30 and the US #39 on the World Health Organization rankings of the world’s best health care systems. I think you’re talking out of your a* ss…
@Robert – No, Medicare is also Socialized. The same taxes deducted from your paycheck go toward both Medicare and Medicaid, but you don’t have to put into the pot to receive either. If your income is below a certain level, you get Medicaid. If you’re 65 or older and a US citizen, you’re entitled to received Medicare. That’s Socialized medicine.
As for your 85% satisfaction, I’ve seen people CLAIM that to be true, but I haven’t seen ANY polling that supports it. Where’s your data?
And even if it were true, how many of those were people covered by Medicare and Medicaid? And what about those that didn’t HAVE insurance? How could it be 85% of the population that’s satisfied when over 30% didn’t have insurance???
Also, just because they were “satisfied” doen’t mean that their policies would cover them if they became seriously ill. They may love having a policy that costs them $75 per month, but if all it covered was a vaccination for polio, it’s not much use in the real world, is it?
As far as countries with socialized medicare “desperately trying to find an alternative” can you provide something that backs that up? I’ve not heard of countries doing that in the least. I think you may be following Timothy’s dumb ass talking.

Let’s bring some sanity and honesty back this country and in order to do that we must vote out all the liberal democrats who believe that is alright to do anything you want to do even if it means crossing the border illegally, costing America billions of dollars or flying to America while having ebola just to be treated for the disease and then having your family blame America for not doing enough because he was black. This is the crazy kind of attitude liberals have.

I am afraid live is a lost cause, feel badly for Laura#16′s family.
October 11th, 2014 at 7:52 am
first two. not four. and not even really then — two of the dems senators were old men who got sick and were not present for votes.
One died, and a republican (lied his way in) was voted into his seat.
As far as “bad news,” we’re all used to that. Since bush’s first term, we’re all painfuly aware that the peace and prosperity of the Clinton administration was flushed down the toiled by the republicans, and that Obama’s been cleaning up their mess (and making some of his own) since then…

Social Butterfly#1, I’ve been trying to get in for more than 24 hours in my mind. I just have to say I admire you. I would love to meet someone of your intellectual interest.
You always bring important issues to this blog. I am a true fan.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:01 am
@Riley#54 – Riley? Really? It is just so easy for your new phony conservative, antagonistic and obstructive GOP to blame everything you mentioned on the opposing party 12 years after the DHS.
A hell of a lot more could have been done to prevent those things immediately after 9/11, yet you set all of the blame on a minority segment of the DNC through your so called liberal connection.
Do you honestly believe that the entire RNC represents only Heaven and the entire DNC only Hell? Reality is that at both parties’ core are moderates who must continue the battle against the extremes at both ends.
Neither of those extremes are any less dangerous to our freedom as a whole. Chose your candidates wisely as even the NRA cannot justify everyone owning their own private M-1 tank nor can control groups justify the elimination of guns completely.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:04 am
The only thing that can save our country is us, we must stand united and tell those who are lying to us and abusing their power that we have had enough of their destructive games of dividing America and attempting to destroy us by using our own people against us.
All parties need to not only work together but they need to quit lying, covering up their criminal plays of destroying each other, quit targeting, quit making really bad one sided mistakes that do no nothing to help but work against us and by all means let those with knowledge and experience assist when they are needed like our military commanders.
This administration and the democrats in congress have destroyed many years of hard work, it can be turned around but it will take team work not individual agendas of my way or the highway crap……….FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE NOT FOR THE GOVERNMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT, BRING BACK AMERICA, STAND UNTIED NOT DIVIDED AND IT MUST BE UNDER GOD, ALL GOOD AND DUMP THE GARBAGE WHERE IT BELONGS.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:06 am
Obamacare needs to go. Our government should not be providing healthcare to anyone.Along with welfare too.
When people are faced with starving and dying, they pull themelves up and the ones that don’t. Oh well.
Let the bastards starve. It would be better to give jobs to those that are paid to pick up their starving carcasses and haul them to the morgue.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:07 am
A key point Wayne#59. We The People have to save our Country.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:10 am
Call all the republicans, they want to shut the government down again over the ACA. What true patriots, true Americans they are. Instead of working together with the Democrats, and fixing any problems with the ACA. You know, like the Democrats did with Medicare part D, they would rather shut down our government.
Medicare part D had a terrible sign up and was far more costly than Bush imagined, but the D’s worked with the R’s and fixed the problems.
Vote them all out. I admire Social Butterfly#1, comment about Warren, but she doesn’t have a chance. I certainly hope that Hillary runs and wins, it would be monumental that the republicans would still not work with her.
If she wins we would have a total of 12 years of total republican obstructionism. You have too ask yourself exactly why does the Republican party hate our country? I like you post Wayne#59.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:11 am
Never say never Alan#60…because alot of “These” people you are talking about lived great lives as you and I…only to have something tragic happen which led to devastation!
This happens in life you know. If people work together…doesn’t that mean we help out one another as well? Lighten up!
October 11th, 2014 at 8:14 am
The republicans need to shut down the government the worse thing the republicans did was increase the debt ceiling 17+ trillion in national debt 2+ billion for a useless website.
Since that nigger took office, 13 million more Americans have become dependent on food stamps, with the numbers now hitting a record 47 million — about a third more than when he was sworn in. In 2007, there were 26 million recipients. Spending on the scheme has more than doubled just since 2008.
The explosion of the program, along with other welfare schemes, Obama “the Food Stamp President.” Frankly, we need to start allowing some of those border jumper and niggers starve to death.
If they can’t make it, then fuck’em.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:17 am
The Tea Party is trying, and have been demonized every step of the way for trying to get the government back under the control of the people.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:19 am
The ignorant, low information voter on living on the dole will always vote for the Dems. Hence we need to do whatever it takes to keep the idiots from voting.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:20 am
Barry#65, Tea party is nothing but far right republican who’s only care is for themselves. What did they ever do or say about bringing our good jobs back to the states? Nada we need more middle class working jobs back.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:21 am
Anyone that speaks ill of Tea Party has not taken the time to go and see exactly what they are about. No hidden agendas, just straight forward political stance.
Look up Patrick Henry Tea Party and read, interesting turn of events in the Virginia 7th Congressional district. That is where Eric Cantor (Conservative TeaParty aligned Republican) was unseated in primaries by Dave Brat who is a MORE conservative Tea Party Republican that is an economics professor at the University of Virginia.
Completely new to elected office!
October 11th, 2014 at 8:22 am
Troy#64 is CLUELESS! Those increases in welfare recipients are directly related to the policies of George W. Bush and his #$%$ collaborators known as the GOP! George W. Bus “the liar-in-chief and the REAL food-stamp President” Can’t wait for someone to put a bullet in his empty head!!!
October 11th, 2014 at 8:24 am
@Ron#66: Not that either party is great, but it’s been shown time and time again that states that usually vote for Republicans have a higher percentage of welfare recipients than states that usually vote for Democrats
October 11th, 2014 at 8:26 am
@Wayne#59 – Congratulations! Your comment reads so much in the tone of Ted Cruz that I wonder if it truly wasn’t written by him. You begin with “all” of what’s wrong in our government and it’s partisan divisions to attract everyone’s attention in an objective and truthful tone from the left side of your brain.
Then, in a virtual “blink of an eye” splash your mess all over the current administration and the entire Democratic Party with the right side. You “truly” do NOT care in the least about the evils of dividing of America.
You quite simply only desire a GOP controlled government; not unlike most of the comments added to this thread and many other articles from the Fox News media perspective. “Who is truly lying here?”
October 11th, 2014 at 8:27 am
Troy#64, what do you think kept us out of another great depression? social programs! it sure wasnt trickle down economics
October 11th, 2014 at 8:30 am
This country will never have more great middle class full time jobs with benefits if Obama care continues and our government to dictate how much profit they can make, forces them to pay the highest tax rate in the damn “WORLD”, forces them to pay double what brain dead people are worth that can not read and write and fines them for taking their home office to another country to avoid stupid over the top taxes.
Our government is now acting like dictators and many within are actual criminals of which no one has paid the price just like the crooks of wall street. When we look at Obama care that ended up being a lie from one end to the other, just wait until next year there will be even less on this program and even more getting huge subsidies to pay their insurance paid for by the tax payers not the poor.
Failures like Iraq, Syria, soon to be Iran the most destructive of all, Benghazi, IRS, VA, one sided racists who divide our country by using their power DOJ, CIA, SS, DIA from top to bottom our government, administration and president is a complete flop failure. His best feature is he can play golf while watching others die without regard for their lives…………same as our military fighters who put their lives on the line.
If you truly look at each promise this man made before the election and during the last six years you will see that 99.9% of them are all lies and failures to do what he promised our country. Our country was not built on, our Bill of Rights and Constitution was not designed with big government in mind, actually a large government who dictated what we do, how we do it and who gets it all was specifically stated by all our founders to help destroy no protect the people of this country.
We are now leaning towards a more socialist form of government rather than a democracy………..the democrats would love to take away even more of your freedoms, give them one more chance and they will. So either stand and fight or go down with the ship……in either case this is what could be our last chance……WAKE UP AMERICA, WAKE UP AND DO WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT.

states that vote solid red
… have a much higher incarceration rate
… have less access to healthcare, higher rates of preventable disease, and higher rates of problems from smoking, drinking, and eating large quantities of fried foods
… have far lower standard for education, worse performance on standardized tests, higher dropout rates, and lower quality of education in general
… have much higher divorce rates
… tend to get more money from the federal government than they pay into it in taxes
… have higher poverty rates, welfare rates, and teen pregnancy rates
… tend to have lower average income, pc-gdp, and more skewed income disparity
… tend to have much less of a likelihood that someone born in poverty will manage to escape that poverty
… have much higher a chance that someone who isn’t white will be harassed or attacked, or have the ability to file legal charges due to discriminatory action
… have higher rates of gun accidents, particularly involving children… who are also much more likely to be in unsafe conditions
and in exchange, they pay less in taxes. not like it matters after the substandard education increases the crime rate and decreases the odds you’ll be able to escape poverty.

How in the world did Obama get elected? He’s feckless and aimless, and way out of his depth. He’s a domestic and foriegn policy disaster. He said he’d get respect for america in the world and bring the races together.
Have you looked around? what a joke. As far as I can tell, everything he says is a lie. My dad if he was still alive would have called him a flake. I hope we can survive two more years of this guy. I’m deeply worried for America. I wasn’t a huge Bush fan, I thought he spent too much money, but I can tell you I wish he was back.
I don’t often talk to Obama voters, but when I do, I it’s usually thru a little window and I order large fries. Another thing my dad would often say say, is that if your not a democrat when your 20 you don’t have a heart. but if your not a republican when your 40 you don’t have a brain.

When we have more cases of Ebola will the U.S. be banned from countries like England. The economy will tank. We are not using common sense. We are not prepared for this Ebola and don’t know how easy it spreads but we know how it kills and it is gruesome. We are being politically ignorant and again not caring about the American people first. We are on the front line of the hospitals, airports and airplanes.
Taxis, schools with our children and family members. Teachers have to wipe noses and vomit is known to happen at schools with small children. This is too dangerous. Our government isn’t prepared and or hospitals don’t know what to do with all the linens, body fluids and waste. When I was in the emergency room they were dumping the dirty linens next to me in the curtained room from the patient wetting himself.
I was standing in a small few foot space trying not to touch anything. It is very dirty. Once told not to sit on a gurney because of a patient without good bathing practices and they didn’t know what he may have. Sit in an emergency room with chairs arm to arm next to people coughing sneezing and vomiting sometimes..
October 11th, 2014 at 8:39 am
Mark#75, How did he get elected?? He STOLE it. He had Michelle, and her mind fucking minions suppressing conservative voters. The FBI, ATF, OSHA and the DoJ conspiring with them. This is BEYOND doubt.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:42 am
Mark#75, Funny how those who after 8-years of Bush-Cheney Misery, within only 6-years and despite GOP-dereliction of duty and contempt for our Constitution, have suddenly discovered in a restored economy with millions more at work that they “made a terrible error in electing to the Presidency” not only America’s first non-white person but a “liar”, “non-Christian”, “misfit”, and “weakling” to boot!
Surely, you could do better with your lies, if only the facts didn’t get in the way.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:44 am
I am tired of the right using lies to prevent a woman from being able to decide what she wants to do with her body.
As far as “killing babies” is concerned, first go to any dictionary and see if you can tell the difference between a baby and a fetus, and then come back to talk politely with the adults.
October 11th, 2014 at 8:45 am
So, Wayne#73,,, if America is going to wake up and do what is right, they’re going to vote blue in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020…. and so on and so forth!
October 11th, 2014 at 8:51 am
Wayne#73, wow, how ridiculous you are. You almost had me there… talking about how we need to come together to move past party and try to get more done. sure, I did my instinctive “but the republicans…” thing, but I’m a moderate that hates what the gop has become, so I’m going to lay some blame.
Then you go and do this: “This administration and the democrats in congress have destroyed many years of hard work”
Hard work? What hard work? The massively partisan work of gwb that divided the nation? The work of gingrich to politicize and party-align everything, while attempting to drive the nonconservatives out of the gop?
If you want to know why our nation is nonfunctional, look to the party you are praising. I’m not saying the dems are much better, but the divisions you are crowing about are largely republican creations. Look at gingrich going after clinton’s private life when he couldn’t attack him on policy.
Look at bush claiming he had a mandate. Look at bush’s entire presidency hingeing on the state his brother is governor of. And getting that creep Scalia to give him the presidency.
Look at mcconnell delcaring that the gop must work together to obstruct every move Obama could make. Look at cruz rallying for a government shutdown that cost us billions so he could prove a point, which he never managed to convey.
Look at the outright lies that the gop has spread via fox news to try to undermine the current administration. Look at the blatant disrespect conservatives show our current president, supposedly over party, issues but since their lies and their offenses started before he was even inaugurated.
It’s a bully’s defense: to attack someone, then cry to an adult (the voters) about how the other kid was picking on them.
October 11th, 2014 at 9:01 am
If most whites weren’t voting color, they would be able to answer this honestly when we are discussing the state of this country. I say to them I hear you say that Obama is destroying this country, but please explain how you’re “worse off today than 6 years ago…”
So to you republicans who are so passionately against Obama and what he has done in his 6 years, please be specific.
What is it about your life that’s worse? I’m truly interested to hear what you have to say on the matter…

We are getting a ton of tourist on our small Island. Guam has achieved another fiscal year milestone recording over 1.3 million visitors for the second consecutive year.
Overall arrivals for Fiscal Year 2014 (Oct. 1, 2013 – Sept. 30, 2014) reached 1,341,054 visitors, surpassing FY2013. And with only 3/4 of the calendar year done, we have already welcomed 1,013,031 tourists since January.
Fiscal year 2014 is now ranked as the third top fiscal year in Guam’s tourism history, making it the most arrivals in a year for this century!
“What’s even more amazing is that in spite of the Triple Disaster in March 2011 GVB and their tourism partners were able to stave off what initially was an anticipated large drop in visitor arrivals,” Gov. Calvo stated.
In addition, we had the tragedy in Tumon and North Korea threats last year. And yet, tourism kept growing: “This isn’t an accident. We spread out on marketing and we’ve maintained our local product,” Gov. Calvo said.
“We had all these things happening, and yet, we were able to do more than just maintain our numbers, we built them up,” the governor added.
“Lt. Gov. Ray Tenorio went with the GVB group to represent our island a number of times. I think his presence helped tour agencies and potential tourists in the different markets understand that we are committed not only to their enjoyment of the time they spend on Guam but their safety and well-being as well.”
Hard work paying off
Efforts to strengthen and diversify our tourism markets are also apparent in this latest report. While Japan arrivals were slightly down, arrivals from Korea and China increased by 20% and 89.1%, respectively.
Other markets that also saw growth in September include the U.S. mainland by 59.9%, Hawaii by 37.5%, Australia by 24% and the Philippines by 3.9%
Exercise Valiant Shield contributed to September’s upward trend, with Armed Forces Air Arrivals increasing by 127.3%. Civilian Sea Arrivals also grew by 172%.
“Guam has a compelling story that continues to be shared with the rest of the world,” said GVB General Manager Karl Pangelinan.
“Achieving another record-breaking fiscal year in arrivals is a testament to the hard work of our industry professionals and partners. Because of them, tourism is the most robust and diverse it’s ever been in our history. Un Dangkulo Na Si Yu’os Ma’ase to everyone for all that you do to make our island a better place to live, work and visit.”
