Women’s Day

Good morning!

Although I am calling today’s election day “Women’s Day,” because it is OUR day to make a difference, men need to get out and vote too. The more Dems at the polls the better chance we Dems have at winning, and making these last two years of the Obama administration successful.

At this point there is not much more to say. The voting part is easy. All you have to do now is go vote. And, help those that need help to vote.

June/Jane: You wrote me back in January informing me that you were a very successful female politician. I misread your comment and responded to you as “Jane” when you actually commented as “June.” Then you responded to me again, but this time signing off as “Jane.” :) Most likely you were being polite and not correcting me…and…the name you gave you mentioned was an alias so it probably didn’t matter :)

Well…This song is dedicated to you and all the women politicians that are working on securing women’s rights and equality, and bettering our political system so that women have power and a strong voice. I could not do what you ladies do but I applaud you and respect you so much for putting yourselves out there and being mentors and role models for our girls in the coming generations. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts, commitment and tenacity. And I support you wholeheartedly.

Let’s shake the tree and bring about change!

Waiting your time, dreaming of a better life
Waiting your time, you’re more than just a wife
You don’t want to do what your mother has done
She has done
This is your life, this new life has begun
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Turning the tide, you are on the incoming wave
Turning the tide, you know you are nobody’s slave

Find your sisters and brothers
Who can hear all the truth in what you say
They can support you when you’re on your way
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree

There’s nothing to gain when there’s nothing to be lost
There’s nothing to gain if you stay behind and count the cost
Make the decision that you can be who you can be
You can be
Tasting the fruit come to the Liberty Tree
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Changing your ways, changing those surrounding you
Changing your ways, more than any man can do
Open your heart, show him the anger and pain, so you heal
Maybe he’s looking for his womanly side, let him feel

You had to be so strong
And you do nothing wrong
Nothing wrong at all
We’re gonna to break it down
We have to shake it down
Shake it all around

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree

♥♥♥

Ladies: We don’t need to wait our time anymore and dream of a better life. It’s time to turn the tides in our favor. We are no one’s baby machine and nobody’s slave. There’s nothing to gain if we stay where we’ve been. Let’s make the decision, that we can change, inspire those around us, and be all we can be. Let’s taste the fruit of the Liberty and Equality tree, together. It’s OUR day – Women’s day.

Shakin’ the tree begins at the voting booth!

Howie: Thank you for encouraging my readers again to vote. I was also happy to see your comment in an effort to help Vivv and Adam

Al, Zen Lill: Thanks for your encouraging words to get out the vote too, sans the repub vote of course – they can hang out on the couch all day and think smugly thoughts.

Joan: Thanks. In my opinion, I am just being logical, and looking at the facts. If some women can’t see the war on women that the misogynistic repubs keep presenting to them, there is no HOPE for them, as unfortunately I don’t think anything I can say will matter. I wish it did! Let’s just HOPE that enough women support women at the polls that it won’t matter, and we can pull them along with us to a better place for ALL of us. That is my goal.

Social Butterfly:) Thanks to you too for cheering on to vote! Thanks for the tip on voting. In addition to that I want to add that if you are a vote by mail voter and you decide to vote at your polling place tomorrow instead, you must turn in your ballot AND its envelope to a poll worker. If you cannot turn in both ballot AND envelope, you must vote provisionally.

If you want to know who the California Democratic Party is endorsing for 2014, click here.

GO VOTE!!

Thank you.

Blog me.

Peace out.

Howie, I couldn’t get in yesterday so I’m going to write this on both blogs. I need to know what happened.

I got goose bumps reading your post.

  2. Juliet Says:

Zen Lill, I had the same voting experience. Lots of wasted votes on those parties that just cause you to split the vote.

Now I vote Dem also. I hope you can motivate some of those women who just refuse to vote to get out and vote for their cause.

  3. Anguó Says:

Howie, most of my friends speak fluent english here in China where I work. We assemble parts for Apple.

I use a bit of my spare time every day to check Michelle’s blog for a UFO comment by you. Then I spread the word. You are famous here.

If I come to America, I want to meet you. Where is Florida?

  4. Chizu Says:

Howie, I live in Tokyo but I have been to Guam. When I was there I think I saw a UFO. It is so exciting to know someone who sees them regularly.

I like Bita is she Japanese?

  5. Larissa Says:

Howie, this was a very fine entry by you. I await the next installment. I often check my Russian skies for UFOs. So far no sightings.

If you know when they will fly over mother Russia, please post in advance so I can check. I purchased a big telescope from Germany to keep my eyes on the sky.

  6. Vivv Says:

Thank you again Howie. Your post was very hepful.

  7. Adika Says:

Howie, Nigeria has many fans of you. This one by you is full of mystery. I hope you will tell us what happens.

  8. Anonymous Says:

For those concerned with the end of the recent battles of Adam and Vivv:

They are both out of danger and I will tell you more when I know more.

I really appreciate your concern. They are real beings of the TA0 and I consider the TA0 as friends.

AH is being taken care of by the Ships’ computer and and Bita. Everything will fall back into place shortly.

This was not plagiarized from anywhere (There is no book Gwain). It really happened . . . I just posted it to MM Blog.

Vivv wrote in to MM Blog today and that is proof that he made it out safely and is OK.

    Vivv, You are always welcome.

  9. Al Says:

Michelle: Thanks for your acknowledgement today and for allowing me to inspire your write the other day, I hope we can again be the good friends that we once were.

It is still early and I am sure that those of you who intend to vote have already decided on who you will support.

Democrats your vote is needed badly, especially you women, get to the polls. Even if you have a headache, take 2 aspirin and go vote. If you have a flat tire, get a friend to drive you or call a cab and go vote. But be sure to get out to the polls and go vote.

  10. Kodiak Says:

Howie, You have many many fans in Moscow. Some of my friends have been debating if they could find you and hack into your communications with aliens.

But I told them that if they could find you, your friend would punish them. They turned red and looked stomach sickl

LOL that was just too much fun.

  11. Anonymous Says:

    Kodiak:

    I would not recommend it.

    HOWIE

  12. Peter on Guam Says:

Guam is positioned to legalize cannabis for medicinal use, 56-44 percent, with all but two of its 58 precincts reporting.

Assuming the measure passes, Guam will add itself to the list of 23 states — plus the District of Columbia — that have medical marijuana programs, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Voters in the District are deciding Tuesday whether to let people 21 and older possess of up to two ounces of marijuana and grow up up to six plants at home.

“The marijuana majority is a truly global phenomenon. People all across the world are ready to move beyond failed prohibition laws, especially when seriously ill patients are criminalized just for following their doctors’ recommendations,” said Tom Angell of the Marijuana Majority advocacy group.
    =====================

    I can’t wait. It’s about time.

  13. OC Says:

I am 63 and live in Canada and I used to think the USA was a great country…a democratic country. Instead, as I watch the voting rights of millions of Americans stripped away on the pretense of stopping voter fraud, I am sick.

I am sick of Republicans’ lies and the people who do not stop to actually investigate on their own the actual number of cases of voter fraud. I am sick of many of those same people who blame the President for the economy and unemployment when he has been able to achieve so much despite the tenacious attacks and lack of cooperation from the Republicans.

I am sick that the GOP and the Tea Party have so little understanding of economic theory and twist facts and results to serve and bolster their only real policy – to gain power in order to take care of their rich, powerful friends who will do their best to ensure the Republicans will be re-elected.

I am sick of Rush Limbaugh and right wing media like him (and certainly some from the left) who seem to think that God (or another divine entity) gave them the right to speak as if they were gods. I am sick of their listeners who believe every word Rush and Fox and others utter without any checking of facts from independent sources.

I am sick of watching prison populations climb for minor infractions, for listening to people complain about a crumbling infrastructure while construction workers sit idle or under utilized.

I am sick of hearing about senior managers and executives and others with incomes in the tens and hundreds of millions of dollars (and billions in some cases) while millions of Americans earn minimum wages and cannot pay for medical premiums. You used to be a great country…now you are sliding backward…and you can’t see it.

And that makes me the most sick…how so many Americans are so uneducated and/or uninformed that they cannot see that so many of you are voting against your own interest when you vote for the GOP/Tea Party.

  14. Dante Says:

In other words. The republican party decided after the 2012 Election was like “F**k it! Let’s just cheat like crazy!”

  15. Kim Says:

I have a bad feeling about this election in that we the people are screwed.

  16. Jane Says:

Dante#14, The worst part is that they don’t even try to hide it anymore.

  17. Ellen Says:

“Texas Voting Restrictions Sow Confusion At The Polls” – Houston Texas is in Harris County. The County Clerk regularly changes my polling location. This election he changed it to a location that is not near any of the housing subdivisions in the precinct. Could the reason be that the new location is not within walking distance of the apartments where moderate and lower income people live?

  18. Mike Says:

Funny how people have no issues getting to the food stamp office the SEC 8 office the welfare office, but when it comes time to vote, they can’t find the place all of a sudden lost their photo ID that they needed to get food stamps, and now it’s the GOP’s fault.

Wake Up America and smell the bull$h!t.

  19. Marc Says:

Sachs is just another lying politician. I live just down the street from her on the water and the only consequences related to climate change, which is the natural geological condition on earth, is that we have not had a hurricane for the longest period in recorded history. where are the more and more violent storms? answer, it is a swindle.

  20. David Says:

Mike#18, We have seen it, we have smelled it. It is all coming from the mouths of Republicans. Perhaps we should set up voting locations at the grocery stores where the people use their “food stamps”.

Or do you prefer (as I think you do) that those poor folks and Section 8 renters not vote at all? Oh, that’s right Mike is a right wing old white guy scared of the future that is imminent.

  21. Zen Lill Says:

#2 Juliet, yes the only point I proved as a registered independent was how well I could split the vote…truly wish it wasn’t a 2 party system but whatever … This country seems to take great pleasure in divisiveness of every variety.
Look forward to hearing the outcomes tonight!

Glad everything worked out well for Vivv. You’re the man. Howie

Linda’s friend, are you going to respond? If so…let me know here, I’ve checked but I don’t have time to check that email everyday unless I’m expecting specific emails.
    Thanks for understanding.

    Luv, Zen Lill

  22. Al Says:

OC #13: I too am sick of all those things you mentioned, plus a couple dozen more. There is a huge difference between what I used to think and what I now think about the United States, the land that I call home.

Kim #15: You are not alone.

  23. Social Butterfly Says:

Al #22 I too feel differently about my country and what I see it’s now become. It’s hard to have hope for society at times.

    —-

Shelley Moore Capito a republican female took West Virginia. First republican in 55 years. On the one hand we need more women being elected but on the other hand we don’t need more republican thinking. Now she’s in I can only hope she’ll have ability to rope in the extremists in her party to come to the middle:

Portraying herself as a staunch opponent of the president, Capito portrayer herself as a moderate Republican in highly-polarized Washington.

She received close to three out of 10 Democratic votes and almost seven of 10 independent votes, according to preliminary results of an exit poll of 960 voters conducted for The Associated Press and television networks.

Michelle told me earlier that McConnell had also won.

Like I said to Al above its hard to have hope at times. The solution may be to jump in the game and run.

  24. Florida voter Says:

I am going to bed. I might as well have not voted. Every person and amendment I voted for lost.

  25. Zen Lill Says:

I’m very disappointed in those that did not vote, there were a few long threads about: voting doesn’t matter, the 1% and multi national corporate entities/oligarchies make the decisions anyway (I remember saying something to that affect here long ago and Anonz laid out the case that it did matter), others felt that the 2 parties are too Fd up too deal with at all (& you still must deal with them to a degree unless you live off the grid completely) and a few other excuses were offered up. I agree in theory with all of it…between voter suppression, Gerrymandering and (oh please) computerized tallying (can you say back me the candidate I want) – it IS all a sham but it’s currently a system we cannot escape.

    -ZL

  26. Zen Lill Says:

That’s ‘hack me’* and the threads were on Facebook

  27. John Says:

Now bitches we will end your killing babies. We will end this tide of gay shit and we will get rid of niggercare.

  28. Peter on Guam Says:

Medical marijuana stands to win in the US territory of Guam with 56 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results reported by Guam Pacific Daily News. The decision makes Guam the first US territory to approve medical marijuana.

Medical marijuana always appeared to have majority support in Guam. A previous survey conducted by Ron McNinch from the University of Guam found 62 percent of Guam voters favored the measure.

But since Guam is a US territory and not a state, the measure originally ran through some legal hurdles before the Supreme Court of Guam ruled in favor of the initiative and the local election board agreed to put it on the ballot. Unlike a typical ballot initiative, it was not taken to the election board through petitioning; instead, the Guam legislature unilaterally put it on the ballot.

Three states, the District of Columbia, and several cities are also voting on marijuana policy during the 2014 midterm elections.

  29. HOWIE Says:

I really believed that Democrats had a chance this election however I was wrong. They have this all planned out and now control the House and the Senate and they are Governors of most States in the Union.

Things look bleak for our futures . . . especially Women, OTWs and those receiving government assistance. I wonder how long Social Security will now last. I think of the millions who depend on assistance and when that will peter out completely.

I used to think the U.S. was the best country to live in. Now I hate those in power and fear for my future.

The Republicans will probably put all Americans below the poverty level in prison.
