100 Is The New 60?
Posted by Michelle Moquin on June 18th, 2016
Happy Saturday!
We all want to live a long life, right? Would you want to live till 100 years of more? I bet most of us would say yes with the caveat being something like, “only if we can hold onto our independence and live a full active life.”
Well according to this article, they believe they have a chance to make 100 years old the new 60… for you, your family, friends and colleagues.
Sound good?
Here’s the write from the 📰 Huff Po:
Extending Your Healthy Lifespan
At Human Longevity Inc. (HLI), our goal is to extend the healthy human lifespan and to revolutionize healthcare.
You’ve often heard me speak about how converging exponential technologies have the potential to disrupt industries. This is a blog providing a detailed overview of the road map for reinventing medicine and extending your “healthy, high-performance” lifespan.
I also want to invite you to join me and Brad Perkins, MD, HLI’s Chief Medical Officer, for a webinar discussing the transformation of healthcare.
I believe we have a chance to make 100 years old the new 60… for you, your family, friends and colleagues.
Info on the webinar is here.
What is HLI?
Two years ago, J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., Bob Hariri, M.D., Ph.D, and I came together with the vision of reinventing healthcare.
Today, healthcare is reactive and retrospective. Today’s system is really more like “sick care” than anything else.
If you are between the ages of 50 and 74, your mortality rates are 30 percent for a man and 20 percent for women.
HLI’s goal is to make healthcare proactive, preventative, and personalized – predicting what disease you are likely to develop, and helping you prevent it in the first place.
HLI capabilities are only possible now because of a number of converging exponential technologies:rapid, accurate whole genome sequencing (which has plummeted in cost five times faster than Moore’s Law);Machine Learning; massive data transmission and storage; and new imaging technologies (or capabilities).
Introducing the Health Nucleus
The Health Nucleus is HLI’s clinical research program based at the company’s headquarters in La Jolla, CA.
It’s where we collect 150 gigabytes of data about you during an 8-hour day gathered through a series of tests and measurements designed to deliver the most complete picture of your health.
At HLI’s Heath Nucleus, we’ll collect the following info about you:
- Whole Genome Sequencing: We sequence all 3.2 billion letters in your genome, and we repeat it 30 times to minimize error rate (~113 gigabytes of data). HLI then puts together an integrated report, processed by our machine learning team in combination with our expert team of clinical geneticists, genetic counselors and scientists.
- Microbiome: We next sequence the trillions of bacteria that live in your body, called your microbiome. Your microbiome plays a vital role in your immune system and how you digest and absorb foods and medicines.
- Metabalome: We next measure the small chemical end products of the biochemical reactions (about 960+ different molecules) that give a direct functional readout of your physiological state.
- Full-body MRI: Next, we take a high-resolution full-body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan, able to detect cancer at its early stages. The comprehensive imaging also includes quantitative neurological segmentation to assess evidence of neurodegenerative conditions.
- DEXA: a non-invasive imaging test that measures bone density, muscle mass and percentage of body fat. DXA allows us to assess bone loss (osteoporosis), fracture risk, and provide additional insights into body composition.
- Gait & Balance Testing: We quantitatively measure your gait and balance as a means to evaluate your physical and neurocognitive function.
- 4D Echocardiogram: We leverage both 3D and 4D echo imaging to gain insights into your heart structure and function — valves, heart muscle and blood flow.
- Echocardiogram & Arrhythmia Monitoring: As part of your Health Nucleus ‘intake’ we’ll collected electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements over a number of days, looking to measure the health and function of you heart, looking for a variety of inherited arrhythmia disorders.
- Sleep Apnea Testing: The Health Nucleus will provide an ‘at-home’ sleep monitoring system. Sleep apnea, a very underdiagnosed condition, is associated with obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and an increased risk of stroke.
And more… believe it or not, the list is growing every day as we continue to add new tests and technologies.
What We’ve Learned So Far
After collecting ~150 gigabytes of data about you, we upload that data to our machine learning platform.
The goal of analyzing your health data is two-fold:
1. To analyze and report on your current state of health
2. To make predictions on your future health condition, and ultimately give you a “longevity road map.”
So far, the results have been spectacular…
From our first 200 Health Nucleus clients, we’ve discovered 30 percent have actionable discoveries with immediate clinical impact, or that identify a need for closer ongoing clinical surveillance. The Health Nucleus partners with your physician to develop a personalized health plan.
I have personally received several “thank you for saving my life” messages.
While HLI’s Health Nucleus is not for everyone, and our capacity is limited, if you are interested in participating, the benefits are numerous

I invite you to take a look at the future of healthcare and how you might be able to significantly impact your life expectancy.
There has never been a more exciting time to be alive (and stay alive).

Readers: Lots of comments in the last few days over the outrage of this horrific rape. In my opinion so many comments were so right on. I get so sick of men who commit a disgusting act and then want to get a pity party going because their sick act has ruined their lives. The parents are no different. Thanks for posting the write /SB. Reading the statements of his mother: “…the guilty verdict “destroyed” her family and that her son is a “shattered and broken shell of the person he used to be” and “utterly terrified and traumatized,” got the pity party going.
Umm…shouldn’t those be the words of the VICTIM?! Wasn’t her family destroyed? Wasn’t she the shattered and broken shell of the person she used to be? Wasn’t she the victim who was utterly terrified and traumatized?
He, the rapist brought it upon himself by the actions he decided to take against her. She is the only victim in this case. Jeez…how narcissistic can you be?
What’s on your mind today? Blog me.

Hi Mischa, interesting article, the full body MRI has been around for a few years and by itself is capable of early detection but this package takes it all to a whole new level, that’s exciting…although hopefully there’s a solution for all the implications a larger population of 75-100+ year olds presents.
Think you nailed it with that last question: Jees, how narcissistic can you get?
Answer: Very.
Seems to be a pervasive tendency in US especially but is everywhere really, as a side note, it’s another good reason to stay away from men with mother issues, they are commonly classic narcissists (many of them the covert variety which is the most dangerous) you’ll end up in a state of cognitive dissonance you didn’t even know you were in until you snap out of it (narcs are extremely good at manipulating your reality, it’s what they specialize in) …
***we’ll talk about women with daddy issues another day, that’s doesn’t usually create narc behavior, usually it creates insecurity and manifests approval seeking behavior…amongst other presenting symptoms.
Sounds like there’s many things we have to ‘watch out for’ in life but really it’s just being aware of your own core beliefs and values. And taking care of your health, luv that math 100 is the new 60!
Off to the US today, looking forward to a beach date!
Luv, Zen Lill

Michelle, sometimes when I try to get in this site just says “You’ve already said that.” and it doesn’t allow me in.
I keep trying today because I do want to say how much I agree with your comment about men and their “pity party.”
If they don’t want to have to suffer for what they do to women, then don’t do it.

Michelle, I moved from Pakistan to America to get away from the violence men and my family(the women have been brained washed to accept “honor killings” they help.) were trying to inflict upon me.
When I read what is happening in America by men, it really scares me.

They can be worst Michelle, My cousin(JX) has a high ranking cop for a brother. He used his office and some of his fellow cop friends to harass and threaten the woman JX raped.
She was drunk at a party and he stripped her took pictures of her and him inserting various objects into her anus and vagina. Then he sodomized and raped her.
She was 19. He was 18. The victim was forced to leave town. You would be surprised how many “good” families supported him because he belongs to a family of cops.

I live in Hyderabad. It is a place no woman can bear if she has half a brain. We are but sex slaves of men. This thing islam we call a religion is just something men have invented to control the minds of weak men and give their women population as sex slaves for accepting islam as a religion.
We women with brains know that islam is a lie. But when you are born into a cult that makes it legal to kill you if you critique it or try to leave it. It just gets bigger as the population grows and worse because of the number of prisoners it has in it.
Soon the world will regret having not taken the threat of this cult seriously. Meanwhile more than a hundred million women are terrorized EVERY day by those who use it to keep women sexual slaves.
June 19th, 2016 at 7:26 am
Just because men say it is a religion doesn’t mean it is for women. It usually means it is something men can use to justify their forcing women to do what they want them to do.
June 19th, 2016 at 7:35 am
Michelle, I want so bad to be a Girlz. I am 22 about to be force to marry my cousin. I grew up playing with this creep when we were children.
I will kill myself before I accept this arrangement. I am college educated. He is a religious fanatic like the rest of his ill educated misogynistic pack of dogs.
He is (surprise) against educating women. The young people here mostly the women want a more democratic representation without a deep religious influence.
But that won’t happen as long as men control our society. It is not in their sexual interest to allow women to decide who they want to select as their life long mates and sexual partners.
We are bartered off as any company asset. If I could come back as a Girlz, I would kill off this entire population of men over 26. After that age they either believe in the cult or understand the power it gives them over women and accept it for that reason.

Javeria#5, what you are experiencing is horrible. It is not as bad in America, but we women have a long ways to go before we can toss off the yolk of religion used to control our behavior and bodies.
June 19th, 2016 at 8:14 am
I feel for my sisters in countries with oppressive religions like islam, and Hinduism. We in America have an opportunity to remove religion as a chief influence upon our secular government.
However, white women(I am one) can’t seem to cast off that oppressive vehicle men have used to control us and our bodies.
I cannot put my finger on the reason, except to say white women have a deep tradition of depending on their white male for support and guidance.
June 19th, 2016 at 8:38 am
This country is full of examples of white men using religion to discriminate against anything they dislike. Take the recent “Missouri County Defies President’s Order To Fly Flag At Half-Staff
http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2016/06/14/3788497/cole-county-missouri-flag-orlando-shooting/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=tptop3&utm_term=4&utm_content=13&elqTrackId=dbe97f3dc2494461b7dc02de084e5c7b&elq=00648b7c13094dd5baef55f729670ad6&elqaid=30458&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=5820
——————————–
incident in which a bunch of sick bastards decided that the death of LGBT people didn’t rise to the level that would require lowering of the flag.
This country is in dire need of white women to find a fucking brain. Only then will be able to end the rein of white men who use religion to oppress the rest of us politically.

Zen Lill if you are truly looking for a “beach date.” then, tell someone interested, like me where in US you will be returning to.
June 19th, 2016 at 9:24 am
I am so tired of men saying they need their AR-15s so they can defend us (the little women) from the tyranny of the federal government.
I just want to take this opportunity to tell those idiots that their puny AR-15 isn’t going to stop their local police department much less the most powerful army on the planet.
June 19th, 2016 at 9:32 am
Yeah, Zen Lill if your really wanted a beach date, you’d mention which beach you were going to be near.
Be nice don’t tease your adoring fans.

[…] Julie: I can’t tell you how many times I say that exact thing. Men especially get perturbed because I’m referring to them. Obviously they aren’t that upset about me/us calling them out because it certainly isn’t stopping them from doing the sick things they do. […]

“they([sic-men] aren’t that upset about me/us calling them out because it certainly isn’t stopping them from doing the sick things they do.”
Michelle you couldn’t been more succinct or on point. All the men I know personally, read their comments, or listen to their tirades about “feminists, bitches, men-haters,” etc., are complaining about men being called out on their sick behavior towards women.
It is like the term “reverse discrimination.” Hello, the term implies that discrimination is/was acceptable so there shouldn’t be any remedies for it. I tell the racists who employ the slick two words that I prefer “remedying discrimination.”
Then I smile an ask if they are against remedying discrimination in the past with acts that seek to level the unequal playing field which gives advantage to the race that practiced it with the force of law?
Most of the ignorant inbred bastards just walk away looking dumbfounded.
I see the same bullshit coming from men who attempt to employ a defense against the declaration of their cruelty towards women by a woman with an offensive attack upon her character or politics.
I say to men, if you don’t like me being blunt about what you do to women, STOP doing it asshole.
