Michelle, I read them as you suggested. The psychosis behind white men’s sexual insecurities has gone from acquiring big trucks with big wheels to acquiring guns that can kill faster than the one before.
Killing machines have become acceptable because white boys with self image issues about their tiny peckers feel they need them to be a man.
So the rest of the country has to suffer a death by a gun in our country every 17 minutes.

Social Butterfly#1, so many of my friends and relatives are trying to buy those AR-15s it is scary. When I ask them what’t the rush. Most say the fear the government will outlaw the purchase of them so they are buying one now.
My cousin got a loan to help her husband get his. My father has three, yet he too has gone out and purchased another one and 1,000 rounds of additional ammo for them.

Why can’t the people get some backbone with their sense? Hilary should be leading by 20 to 30 points against trump. I get it that most of my race are voting color and don’t care what donald says, but it is not in their best interest to put a man in the white house that is as dangerous as trump is.

I don’t think if the next massacre occurs in an all white neighborhood anything will change. Withe people love their guns way more than they love their children or family members.
What should happen is that the leaders of the NRA and those Congress men who refuse to take a stand against assault weapons should fine themselves or their family members the victims of ISIS terrorists.
Now that is something I could get behind. ISIS go to their heavily guarded neighborhoods and unleash your AR-15s. Do your damness. I for one wouldn’t turn you in if you came in and took care of business and slipped out back to your country.

My husband and brother-inlaw have been proudly displaying their new A$-15s. My brother-inlaw has a list of the 49 names it killed and their pictures tacked above the gun rack he has his displayed in.
I asked his wife to ask him to take it down because I didn’t want my children seeing that. She said I need to have more respect for my country’s 2nd Amendment and my race.
I asked her why she had to bring politics into it. She said we are in a fight for the survival of the white race in America. We need to come together to ward off this ungodly incursion of the breeds into what God and white men started, these United States of America.
I left her home, and I don’t think I nor my children will ever go back.

Here is Conan O’Brien’s reflection on guns.
It’s hard to believe a show that occasionally features a masturbating bear could have the most poignant response to the deadliest shooting in the U.S. that occurred in Orlando, but that’s what happened Monday night.
In an uncharacteristic plea to his audience, Conan O’Brien called for America to do something about semi-automatic assault rifles.
I have really tried very hard over the years not to bore you with what I think; however, I am a father of two, I like to believe I have a shred of common sense, and I simply do not understand why anybody in this country is allowed to purchase and own a semiautomatic assault rifle.
It makes no sense to me. These are weapons of war, and they have no place in civilian life. I have tried to understand this issue from every side, and it all comes down to this:
Nobody I know or have ever met in my entire life should have access to a weapon that can kill so many people so quickly.
These mass shootings are happening so often now that lamenting them afterwards is becoming a national ritual. I do not know the answer, but I wanted to take just a moment here tonight to agree with the rapidly growing sentiment in America that it’s time to grow up and figure this out.

To help those suffering in Orlando, Conan implored people to donate at the GoFundMe page set up for victims of the shooting.
UPDATE: One of the weapons used by the Orlando shooter was initially reported as an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle. Officials are now reportedly saying that weapon was actually a Sig Sauer MCX. According to The Washington Post, that doesn’t change much.

Matthew#20, it was a night club- meaning alcohol, cramped space, flashing lights, not the best place for everyone to be armed and firing.
If all the “good guys” in that club had been armed, the death toll would have been far worse. I will never follow the logic of “arm everyone and this won’t happen.”
That is the spiel of the NRA because they are being paid by the gun manufacturers to put guns in as many hands as they can.

Matthew#20, there was an armed off-duty police officer at Pulse. He did not prevent the slaughter of 49 people. This argument, made by the bloody NRA and parroted by gun-huggers everywhere, has never been proven to be correct.
We do know without a doubt that when the Brady Bill was in effect there were no mass murders using military style weapons in America.
The CONServatives have sacrificed hundreds of American lives to payback the donations from the bloody NRA. It’s time America returned to the time when AR-15s were not available and they were not being used to slaughtered dozens of Americans.

Matthew#20, there are no gun free zones in America because guns cross freely to places from other places without security checks. The problem is that there are too many guns.

Rene#20, Mathew#20, is not thinking. Look at what his scenario would require.
First, he seems either not to know or opted to omit the fact that there WAS an armed off-duty officer on the premises who engaged the shooter.
But for his gaggle of armed civilians actually helping the situation to make any sense (it doesn’t), these citizens would first have to be at the same level of training and coordination, the sound with have to be cut and the lights immediately turned on.
They would also have to be similarly equipped as the shooter since he had the equipment to get off multiple shots to the limited number they would have with a carry gun.
And…..they would all have to be sober as a judge and then have to (in unision mind you), have the situational awareness to immediately discern who was the assailant(s) and not shoot another potential victim by mistake.
Yeah, that sounds a real ideal situation you’ve got going there Matthew, or Guy#30, or Jim#31.

They are not a hunting or sporting gun. They are designed and meant to KILL. They are weapons of war.
The line has to be drawn somewhere and the line should be on semi-automatic assault rifles which is WHY THEY WERE BANNED in the first place until the NRA and their paid for politicians decided to LIFT the ban.
They also voted against keeping suspected terrorists on the “no fly list” from being prohibited from buying weapons! This is insane!

When the 2nd amendment was drafted, the citizenry could bear whatever arms they wished, cannons, muskets, whatever the government had those they ruled over could have.
Where are we now? Law abiding citizens are afraid to exercise their rights when quite often they could’ve minimized the effects of a treagedy like this. When open carriers thwart crimes, it is never reported.

The reason we don’t know about it is it rarely if ever actually happened. I see you keep avoiding it, but let me remind you that there was an open carrier at the club. He was the armed security guard. He was also a trained off duty police officer.
The armed security traded shots with the terrorist in Orlando. You fail to mention that, there was a “friendly” gun there. But it didn’t prevent the guy with the bigger more powerful gun from carrying out what he intended to do.
It is shameful of you to keep making these kinds of silly arguments. If only the well equity militia was at hand …. They were, they’re called the police.

Good luck Michelle with getting sensible gun legislation passed. If 26 people being hauled out of an elementary school didn’t move the needle, do you really think a bunch of gay guys and a few straight people being scooped up in hefty bags will make a difference?
The only people who care about this( some are cheering it) are the ones reading these articles, Michelle. About 500 people in a nation of 300 million. The only places with flags lowered are government buildings and that is because the president told them to do so.
If people can’t be bothered to lower their flags for a few days, it is doubtful this makes a beans worth of difference to them.

No one but me seems to be talking about proactively attacking the root cause – hate. Almost every gun owner in the country owns their guns because of fear of being unprotected from these haters. Everybody accuses haters on the other side; no one is trying to reduce the hate-filled rhetoric. Obama’s speech is just another example, deflecting blame from the administration which had multiple opportunities to do something about this before it happened and onto gun owners who had nothing to do with it. All this to further the agenda that the people must have no way to remove a dictatorial administration, no matter how oppressive. Kinda makes you wonder what he really has in mind.

I agree with you Mike, TM#43. There actually is a rationale for allowing civilian ownership of assualt weapons. I don’t agree with it and neither do most other Americans.
Unfortunately it resonates with a small but vocal minority that is cynically supported by the NRA acting as a surrogate for firearms manufacturers who reap tremendous profits from military style gun sales. It rests on the belief that the Second Amendment protects the rights of citizens to defend themselves from a tyrannical government.
If that argument was ever valid — and it might have had some credence in the immediate post colonial period when muskets could be used to fend off other muskets — it is now both foolish and dangerous.

Ps I have shot all types of handguns and automatics also, there’s no question in mind that it isn’t needed under any circumstances … It actually freaked me out how fast the bursts fire. No Need!! No question. End of story. Yes you can kill with regular handguns but there’s just no comparing.

Zen lill, Banning guns will not change a person psychologically who wants to inflict harm on others. They will come up with new ways to do damage. Answer me this, will you then make nails, pressure cookers and fertilizer illegal so bombs cannot be made like the ones used in Boston? The people who need to “grow up” are the people who think taking away someone’s rights as an American will solve anything. Guns exist, they kill people when there are used with that intention. If you wish to solve the problem try to understand the people who commit these heinous acts so you can prevent this from happening in the future.

Velshi continued, “ISIS is going to have a lot of complexity around this too,” because the extremist group is anti-gay and it is being reported that Mateen was a “closeted-gay” man.
“It does us a disservice – and some of the time it comes from the media – it does us a disservice to rush into what we think this is,” he said.
“This is probably multi-faceted and we won’t solve it if we decide to label it just one thing.”

Oh, and Zen Lill#56, I agree with you 100%. “There is no comparing.” People that do this aren’t born messed up. So anyone can snap. You can’t generalize who will do these things.
Keep the tools for doing this out of people’s hands. Just like bomb materials are hard to get so should weapons of mass destruction.

I’ve spoken with a number of people in my area of the South who are great fans of AR and AK type rifles. Many of them have never shot anything else. As such, they see these kinds of rifles as “nifty” pop-guns and really cannot appreciate their inherent lethality.
As a Marine veteran, we were trained to use the selective fire version of the AR family (M16A1) and were encouraged to use it in semi-automatic mode to conserve ammunition in a combat situation.
Anyone who says the semi-automatic (civilian) version of the AR is not a military weapon is delusional. It can deliver a higher rate of fire than any of the battle rifles used by the US in WWII. It should NOT be in the hands of civilians.
Likewise for high-capacity semi-automatic pistols like the Glock which can take a 30 round magazine. Frankly, this kind of firearm is even worse than the AR due to its size and ease of concealment.

First things first get the CORRECT Info, the weapon used was a SIG SAUER MCX, Designed for the SPECIAL FORCES, and a 9mm Block. Had to. Be some reloading time to throw a bottle, glass anything so maybe he could have been rushed. Can’t stand or lay there for three hours.Pray for the injured painful and costly.

The gun nuts will always come up with some reason why they should be allowed to own those killing machines. a And who cares what name the manufacturers use to disguise the fact they are killing machines.
According to the logic of the gun nuts why stop at machine guns, maybe we all should be allowed to walk around with bazookas, granades, rocket launchers, and tanks (tanks are cool by the way).
The rich people can get a F-16 fighter jet, or maybe some mini A-bombs, cause you never know when you will have to protect your family.

Getting the republicans out of office will lead to getting money out of elections, get gerrymandering out of elections when a liberal Supreme Court says it’s unconstitutional, get civics classes back into schools so they are educated on how to be citizens and not compete Trump baffoons who fall for his crap.

The problem with Americans (besides the whole me, me, me narcism crap) is we don’t respect the gun as tool for survival, as a weapon of last resort.
A lot of Americans worship the gun. This goes far beyond weekly trips to the shooting range. If the only tool you have is a hammer then every problem becomes a nail.
Frankly, most Americans, especially conservatives, are far too immature to be allowed to own weapons.
These shootings are proliferating and getting worse each and every time. It’s just a matter of time before someone we know, someone we love is gunned down by some god crazy whack job from (insert religion here).
So save your prayers, because that’s a big part of the problem here. God doesn’t give a rat’s ass. Praying isn’t doing a damn thing, you’re praying for your own beneift not for anyone elses.
This problem is not going to solve itself. Time to grow up, America. No civilian needs to own an assault rifle. And the NRA can go f^%k itself with a loaded shotgun.

Plenty on the left care. They want better economic standing for the poor via better education and living wages. While not a perfect fix it would certainly help a lot. Conservatives are also against these solutions.
Other countries have figured out the gun violence issues we just refuse to adapt them. Sounds like we want to pay lip service without lifting a finger.

When you read the comments of the gun nuts most of them imply how tough they are, i.e -”you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands,” they’er the ones who are going to protect their families from foreign invaders, and my all time favorite they need those powerful guns to protect the people from the tyranny of government.
The truth is most are a bunch of sniveling cowards, who probably did everything they could to get out of military service. The others are delusional idiots who think the sophistication of the US military can be overcome with a few automatic rifles and hand guns. Again not that any of these cowards would stand in front of incoming rounds.
Most are like the mass killers who use these weapons to murder others, they are only brave as long as they are the only ones doing the firing.
Logic won’t work with a person whose motivation to have the guns is disguised by lying quips that imply bravery, and manliness. Just do as Ruth/AF, Michelle suggests and others here have suggested, get the republicans out of office.
Get out and vote for Hilary so she can appoint a SCOTUS that will remove money as a vote, and limit campaign input of it. Then SCOTUS can tackle the disgusting gerrymandering the republicans use to stack the House and give them Senators who couldn’t win an honest election otherwise.
Let the people really choose their representatives and the republicans will be out as a party. That one third of the country will be regulated to a place racists, religious fanatics, and idiots should be which is out of places and offices where they would be in charge of anything important.
