 Good Morning!

Whew – what a night, right?

Congratulations Hillary Clinton for breaking the glass ceiling!

gettyimages-584447158_wide-4735b7e904e9d59de315bce58ec3272d67980040-s900-c85

I’m so proud. I loved last night…I loved the last 4 days. Clinton is so smart, tenacious, committed, compassionate, competent, and completely qualified to be our president. She will not quit on us. I will not quit on her. #GirlBoss

If there is anyone reading this blog (and there were many in yesterday’s blog) that still needs convincing, read this:

Let Me Remind You Fuckers Who I Am

by Hillary Clinton

What the fuck is your problem, America??

I’m Hillary goddamn Clinton. I’m a political prodigy, have been since I was 16. I have an insane network of powerful friends. I’m willing to spend the next eight years catching shit on all sides, all so I can fix this fucking country for you. And all you little bitches need to do is get off your asses one goddamn day in November.

“Oh but what about your eeeemaaaaillls???” Shut the fuck up. Seriously, shut the fuck up and listen for one fucking second.

Here’s all you need to know about me:

  • In 1992, I said I was proud to have followed my career instead of baking cookies.
  • The GOP fucking dragged me for it. They made me bake cookies. They’re scared of me.
  • Every time I have a job, y’all love me. Every time I run for anything, the GOP breaks out the big guns again and fucks me up good. And apparently it fucking works.

Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 10.34.01 PM

But you know what? I don’t fucking care. If I gave two shits about the haters I would’ve dropped the game decades ago.

You know why I keep fighting? Because we all want the same shit. We want economic and racial justice, we want to seriously attack climate change, we want everyone to be able to afford college and health care and housing and food, we want women to be treated like humans, yada yada yada.

And I’m the only person in this goddamn country who knows how to do it.

Because of course I do. Because I’ve been preparing my whole fucking life for this job. So stop making me dab on Ellen and just give me a fucking chance already.

Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 10.36.08 PM

If it seems like I have contempt for the American voter, it’s because I do. Frankly, most of you are fucking stupid. Most of you have no goddamn idea what it takes to run a country. I mean god damn, almost half of you think God created the Earth 10,000 years ago!

What the actual fuck????

Look, this is the big leagues. If you think any problem has a tweetable solution, you’re just wrong. If you think “border wall” or “muslims = bad” is gonna solve our problems, I don’t have time for your shit.

This is literally why we have a representative government. I know you don’t want to read long, boring things. So I do it for you, and I ask a bunch of smart people, and we come up with shit that works. Here’s my solution on energy. Here’s my solution on Wall Street. Here’s my solution on jobs. I have fucking binders full of this shit and you know it. I’m so fucking ready, America.

Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 10.37.22 PM

The GOP just spent their entire convention fantasizing about literally imprisoning me. They are terrified. They know what I can do.

I’ve spent my life clawing my way into a system that’s terrified of change. A system that just wants to let rich white dudes be rich white dudes. And holy shit, you guys, I could not have picked a better opponent for my final boss battle.

So lemme sign off with the same Nancy Scheibner poem I quoted back in 1969 (when I gave the commencement speech at my own fucking graduation, btw).

My entrance into the world of so-called “social problems”

Must be with quiet laughter, or not at all.

The hollow men of anger and bitterness

The bountiful ladies of righteous degradation

All must be left to a bygone age.

And the purpose of history is to provide a receptacle

For all those myths and oddments

Which oddly we have acquired

And from which we would become unburdened

To create a newer world

To translate the future into the past.

We have no need of false revolutions

In a world where categories tend to tyrannize our minds

And hang our wills up on narrow pegs.

It is well at every given moment to seek the limits in our lives.

And once those limits are understood

To understand that limitations no longer exist.

Earth could be fair. And you and I must be free

Not to save the world in a glorious crusade

Not to kill ourselves with a nameless gnawing pain

But to practice with all the skill of our being

The art of making possible.

(Flip flop my ass.)

GIRL♡♀♡POWER

Lol. I’m having so much fun this morning.

This is for you Hillary and all us girlz and guys who are in this fight with you:

I agree with Social Butterfly. I am looking forward to having a female POTUS in my lifetime.

  2. Jan Says:

Michelle your stylist side loved the White worn by Hilary. But I think she was recognizing that Geraldine Ferraro, wore it when she became the first woman to become the VP nominee of a major party.

  3. Estelle Says:

Michelle, I think Hilary wore white to because of all the suffragettes who wore white while fighting for a woman’s right to vote.

  4. Marianne Says:

Hilary put “18 million cracks” in the glass ceiling 8 years ago. Now if the 161 million women in this country will get behind her we can show those privileged white males that it is our time.

  5. Roger Says:

Trump is going to kick the bitch’s ass. When he gets through with her she couldn’t get elected to dog catcher. He is going to hit her so hard, the ugly hag won’t know what the hell happened.

  6. Sonja Says:

Roger#5, can’t wait until the debates.

  7. Anonymous Says:

t seems they have a lot ot say about her look or voice but not her qualifications to be president which she has and she has the balls to run for president which in itself is a hurculean task with all you have to put up with the crap tossed at you day aftyer day but she will be a fine president

I think Sanders would have been better ..but thats my opinion I will vote Clinton and…drumpf scares the ever livein shit out of me ..sort of like if McCain won and died while in office and palin was the prez..that kind of scared shitless

  8. Bill O Says:

Her balls are big, that’s for sure! Bigger than anyone else that spoke at the DNC convention! How’s that for a sexist comment? She hasn’t got a chance in the world of being president. Queen, maybe, president no!

  9. John Says:

She may have a “shrill” voice, but at least she isn’t a Whiny Little Bitch like her opponent.

  10. Liz Says:

On KPBS, one commentator mentioned that she should have shown “her softer side.” Why? Do we ask men to show their “softer side” when running for President. How about Donald Trump showing a sane side?

  11. Craig Says:

That’s only ONE reason why people don’t like her. The main reason is she lies all the time, only cares about herself, is a phony, has never done ANYTHING to help our country, and is just a total fake worthless wrinkled up old lady in a pants suit. SHe will say and do ANYTHING to get elected. EVen Bubba hates her. What does that say?

  12. Michelle Says:

Men telling women to smile is telling women to be submissive. They don’t go around telling men to smile. That is why women are so annoyed when random strangers in the street tell them to smile. http://theunboundedspirit.com/smiling-a-submission-signal/

  13. a Tar Heel Says:

    BIG NEWS TODAY!

A federal appeals court has struck down North Carolina’s voter identification law, holding that it was “passed with racially discriminatory intent.” The ruling also invalidated limits the same state law placed in 2013 on early voting, same-day registration, out-of-precinct voting, and preregistration.
    Story Continued Below

The three judges assigned to the case — all Democratic appointees — were unanimous that the Republican-controlled North Carolina legislature violated the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act three years ago by enacting the measure requiring voters to show certain types of photo ID at the polls.

“The record makes clear that the historical origin of the challenged provisions in this statute is not the innocuous back-and-forth of routine partisan struggle that the State suggests and that the district court accepted,” Judge DIana Motz wrote on behalf of Judges James Wynn and Henry Floyd. “Rather, the General Assembly enacted them in the immediate aftermath of unprecedented African American voter participation in a state with a troubled racial history and racially polarized voting. The district court clearly erred in ignoring or dismissing this historical background evidence, all of which supports a finding of discriminatory intent.”

The court’s opinion bluntly described the legislation as a clear effort to suppress the black vote.

“We cannot ignore the record evidence that, because of race, the legislature enacted one of the largest restrictions of the franchise in modern North Carolina history,” Motz added.

    booyah!

  14. Don Says:

The men making sexist comments about women’s physical traits whether than their acumen are losers. The accomplishment occurring at the DNC convention is significant and not the smaller then small minded comments by people with lessor ambition and s comments are a misuse of the 1st Amendement’s true purpose and intention, the freedom to talk freely about the government; rather these morons want to degrade accomplished individuals.

  15. one race Says:

Last night the Democratic party used their forum to stand up for Muslim immigrants by giving a significant amount of time to the story of Humayun Khan, a Muslim-American who died serving in the American armed forces. Then Humayun Khan’s mother and father came out to speak to the DNC.

I loved when he schooled Trump on the Constitution.

    https://youtu.be/Xzkkk-oJ6bo

  16. Jim Says:

OneRaceSays #15, There is nothing in the constitution that give foreign nationals the right to enter this country.
Try reading your pocket constitution again.

  17. Anthony Says:

Michelle, After reading some of the pathetic liberal comments on your blog, I now know why, other than hard work, I am a person of means. Thank you!

  18. Nina Says:

A Tar Heel#13, One more nail in the coffin of the GOP’s plan to suppress the vote.

  19. Frank Says:

Jim#16, There is nothing in the Constitution that says they can’t. In fact, the 14th Amendment implicitly says they can.

When Trump is done reading Mr. Kahns copy of the US Constitution, I’m sure he’d be willing to lend it to you too…

  20. Kelly Says:

Jim#16, There is nothing in the Constitution that says monkeys will not fly out of your butt.

    Do they?

  21. John Says:

A sad loss for proud parents. It’s upsetting to me (as a former member of the US Army) that the dems sought out this family and exploited them for political reasons. The question I have is, who killed Capt. Khan? Who was Capt Kahn fighting in Iraq? Jews? Christians? Buddhists? Radical Muslim Jihadists? I stand and salute the memory of Capt. Kahn.

  22. Ernie Says:

Frank#19, Leave this country, You don’t belong here if you think we should just open our doors and let any one in! You are just plain nuts! So why don’t we just empty our jails also while we are at it. Can’t be vetted you don’t get in simple!! Thats all he is saying. But you where born an idiot that would shit in a bucket if Hillary told you too! Learn to think for yourself!!

  23. Anton Says:

A Tar Heel#13, The GOP knows that demographic trends are running against them, so their only hope for future victories is through voter suppression techniques like this law embodied. Thank you, 4th District!

  24. Carlos Says:

Republicans have been attempting this form of voter suppression for over 10 years with the full knowledge that voter fraud has been proven to be almost non-existent.

  25. Lewis Says:

To the N. Carolina legislators and Governor.

Let’s just say that G!d Almighty was really not kidding when he said “thou shalt not steal”. Should HE decide that your intent with these voting laws ARE stealing, where does that leave you?

  26. Henry Says:

why is it wrong to ask for a ID to vote? you have to have a ID for everything today, I guess the Dems just want the numbers…….

  27. Frank Says:

John@21, They didn’t have to appear, and seeing as how he was killed by a suicide bomber, who do you think he was fighting?

  28. Duvall Says:

Henry#26, Nothing. It’s was ruled constitutional by SCOTUS in Crawford v. Marion County Election Board.

  29. Carie Says:

voter suppression is an old trick..
    not new..
the methods of red states are new…gerrymander…change voting times..put out bad voter site information..require IDs and use bogus reasons to make it harder..
used to be they just used Jim Crow laws and poll taxes..

  30. Moore Says:

While the GOP is so very, very concerned about election proprieties, when is it going to launch even ONE investigation into the admission by the Trump campaign that Trump solicited foreign government officials for campaign contributions?

    That is a felony.

  31. Lois Says:

The amazing thing is not that the GOP overtly tries to prevent minorities from voting, but that Republican voters have no problem at all with these kinds of tactics.

Understanding who those people are makes it easier to understand why a complete idiot like trump could get the GOP nomination for POTUS. Republicans are merely voting color.

  32. Carmen Says:

A Tar Heel#13, I hope this sets a precedent. I detest laws designed to keep minority citizens from voting. And many of these laws are clearly those kinds of laws.

  33. Ito Says:

It is necessary for the GOP to fear voter participation. It is existential. The only way they can win elections with their current brood of ultra-toxic candidates is to make certain that the voting booth is open to sociopaths only.

  34. Kelly Says:

John#21, I am an Army vet, E5, Honorable because I ANSWERED the draft all that Truymp had nothing but contempt for. I know a lot of other vets. Not one will be voting for the coward and traitor Trump.

  35. Aldofo Says:

Ernie#22, It would be much better for our country if people like you left.

The Khan’s came here as Muslim immigrants and became/are US Citizens through legal processes. Their son (a US Citizen) joined the US military AND fought for the US.

    Just leave.

  36. Roy Says:

A Tar Heel#13, t will be reversed on appeal. I live in NC and meeting the voter ID requirements is very easy. It’s also easy to figure out where to vote….it’s all published and readily available.

  37. Pedro Says:

It’s clear that republicans are pushing poll taxes because the only way racist, ignorant folks, who are an increasingly smaller minority every year, can hold onto power.

Without gerrymandering and voter suppression the GOP would be a third rate party.

  38. Ellen Says:

If the GOP isn’t racist, why do they try so hard to keep African Americans from voting?

  39. Lilli Says:

    t’s not the voter fraud.

    It’s not the ID.

    It’s the racism.

You cannot legislate obviously racist schemes into existence without the courts smacking you down.

  40. Riley Says:

North Carolina, like other post Jim Crow southern states, hides behind the lie of “voter fraud” to cover up the obvious intent to supress the votes of minoriities. Add this to their hateful transgender bathroom restrictions and you have a disgusting and villianous state that refuses to enter the 21st century.

  41. Marc Says:

f goobers can buy guns without identification, it’s hard to imagine why you’d need stronger identity management for voting.

  42. Marc Says:

Roy#36, If your parents divorce will they still be siblings? There is no proven significant voter fraud ever on record in North Carolina. Why would the courts support putting so many people under a burden to solve a problem that doesn’t exist.

You are living proof that incest can cause brain damage.

  43. Olivia Says:

Roy#36, NC note well that even litigation-happy Texas decided not to waste another charge up SCOTUS Hill. Remember, the Supremes choose the cases they hear, you cannot demand/force your way into the court. As others have pointed out odds are long that should NC try they will simply be rebuffed and the Appeal Court ruling will stand.

  44. Olivia Says:

Roy#36, also note The issue in NC is exactly the same as Texas: the conservative Legislature and Governor KNEW in advance of these laws that they disproportionately affected minority voters. Their own paid research groups told them this, and offered changes to the law that would have avoided this outcome. They purposely CHOSE not to implement those changes. They did not want to void discrimination, they wanted to CAUSE it.

  45. Khurshid Says:

There is only ONE correct side and that is the one that opposes these restrictive laws. Voter fraud is not problem. It is very rare.

What is a problem is voter participation and anything that can be done to improve that – longer voting hours, more polling places, not requiring a photo ID – should be encouraged.

Now, for those of you who disagreed go back and read those comments with this new information and then you can retract your comment.

  46. Bonnie Says:

Khurshid#45, Don’t expect any good results. Republicans love to embarrass themselves.

  47. Hershel Says:

And here I thought the Republicans were worried about voter fraud! Surely someone in Asheboro tried to vote last time when she had not lived in Randolph County long enough? Surely there was at least one case of voter fraud. Who would have thought that the Republicans were acting to suppress black and Latino and young people!

  48. Eldora Says:

Holy Pewp! In-person vote fraud *does*exist! Thing is, it appears to be the exclusive realm of wealthy, white Republicans.

    http://www.alternet.org/story/151298/did_mitt_romn

In March, as you’ll recall, Utah’s former Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. — who is believed likely to jump into the GOP Presidential race soon — was alleged to have committed voter fraud by casting his vote last year via his registration at the governor’s mansion despite having resigned and moved out of the address almost two years prior to become President Obama’s Ambassador to China.

Previously, of course, we’ve reported in great detail on GOP superstar Ann Coulter’s repeated and now well-documented voter fraud. More recently (and more ironically), Charlie White, the newly-elected Republican Sec. of State of Indiana — a state with, until recently, the most draconian, disenfranchising polling-place Photo ID restrictions in the nation — was indicted on seven felony counts, three of them related to voter fraud, after he continued to vote at a residence where he no longer lived (where he also continued to illegally serve on the town council, despite no longer living there).

And now, according to a complaint filed by another GOP Presidential hopeful, it appears that current front-runner Mitt Romney has been playing similarly fast and loose with his own residency and is alleged to have voted, illegally, in last year’s special election for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts despite no longer being a resident of the state…

  49. Grace Says:

Many of my progressive friends, supporters of Jill Stein and Senator Sanders, think I’ve lost my mind supporting Secretary Clinton with my whole heart. No, friends and neighbors, I haven’t. As a young socialist, I learned very very early on that whether you’re a socialist, marxist, democrat or republican, SNCC, or the KKK, there was a simple fact that everyone shared. Even though I read all those books, Das Kapital, and even though I was an exceptional organizer, and even though I had the ability to figure out exactly what people would do, always, no matter where I was, the boys assumed they got to run things and I got to make the coffee. So in my 20s, I got a clue. Virginia Woolf’s Three Guineas and A Room of One’s Own. So I read Susie B. and so on, and I got it. I got it, friends and neighbors. It is totally irrelevant what political party or what political philosophy you have. You still are supposed to make the coffee, and your importance is rated on your fuckability factor. Women, you know I am speaking the truth.

So you know what? I put my mind to this and understood that the only “political” thing that would change any of this would be when women sat at the table, not walking around behind it serving the coffee or doing the real thinking and strategy, as Angela Davis, Elaine Brown, Kathleen Cleaver, and Erica Huggins did, while the boys took the credit.

We were simply invisible, like Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man. Jimmy Carter is a true revolutionary, leaving his life-long faith because of this: “At its most repugnant, the belief that women must be subjugated to the wishes of men excuses slavery, violence, forced prostitution, genital mutilation and national laws that omit rape as a crime. But it also costs many millions of girls and women control over their own bodies and lives, and continues to deny them fair access to education, health, employment and influence within their own communities.”
Every political, religious or economic system in the world was created by and for men to the serious negative consequences to 52% of the population.

John Lennon got it. “Women are the niggers of the world.”

As Virginia Woolf put it, “As a woman I have no country. As a woman I want no country. As a woman, my country is the whole world.”
People are outraged that black slavery existed in this country, which was ended in the 1860s. It is an issue in every political discussion. But people neither seem to know nor care that there are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today, more than at any time in human history. Too many in the United States.

The media is constantly negative about Hillary Clinton, a woman who has spent four decades working to improve the situation of women and children throughout the world. She’s running against a man who raped a 13-year-old girl. I don’t have a lot of space in my mind for anyone who doesn’t see the difference.

So you know what? I’ve got Hillary Clinton’s back. Because she put human trafficking front and center at the Democratic convention. Because she stood in Beijing and said to the Chinese, who murdered their girl children as part of state policy, “Women’s rights are human rights, human rights are women’s rights.” Because she will be the righteous leader of the free world, with a heart, mind, and consciousness that puts women and our needs front and center.

So, you know what? Get your own damn coffee. I’m with her.

  50. Ayita Says:

A Tar Heel#13, I am a native American and a registered voter. I’m glad they struck down that outrageous law, the sole purpose of which was to disenfranchise voters who tend towards the Democrats (minorities, students).

That shows the importance of who wins this election because it affects the Supreme Court. Because Mitch McConnell made the appointment of a replacement for the late Antonin Scalia contingent on the election, essentially it boils down to whether the court will be middle-of-the-road (if Hillary wins) or right-wing (if Trump wins). Democrats, you must come out to vote in November. The future of our country for the next 20 years is at stake.

  51. Joseph Says:

In 1898, 500 armed red shirts, North Carolina’s KKK, stormed Wilmington, N.C.’s city hall–arresting and driving out of town the black and white coalition government. They New York Times made some pooh pooh sounds, but nobody—North or South–was too upset about this violent coup. North Carolina’s governor declined to intervene. Vote fraud—-the kind where black ballots are stolen or prevented–goes way back in North Carolina. This is a decision for fairness and for truth.

  52. Thomas Says:

For all the racist who don’t understand what the problem was with these new laws, here are a few excerpt’s from the decision that most of the article’s i’ve read some out neglected to include.

“Although the new provisions target African Americans with almost surgical precision, they constitute inapt remedies for the problems assertedly justifying them and, in fact, impose cures for problems that did not exist”

“after nearly 50 years under supervision, the state was finally free to change voting laws without federal oversight. The legislature promptly “requested data on the use, by race, of a number of voting practices.” And “upon receipt of the race data, the General Assembly enacted legislation that restricted voting and registration in five different ways, all of which target black voters”

  53. Cortez Says:

Michelle, what have you writhed? White hoods are exploding all over the place.

  54. Suzy Says:

Love your words Grace. May you unite all women.

  55. Cielo Says:

Roy#36, What possible good will appealing to the US Supreme Court do? If they agree to hear the case at all, the best the NC Republicans could hope for is a tie, which would let the Appeals court decision stand. If they are counting on Trump being elected to appoint who knows what kind of judicial manic to SCOTUS, they will also be in for a disappointment.

  56. Sarah Says:

What the Republicans have tried to do is disenfranchise voters who tend towards Democrats, minorities and students. That was the only purpose of it.

Study after study has shown that there is very little voter fraud (less than 10 cases nationally every election). The voter registration databases have modernized and updated. It’s impossible for a voter to vote in different jurisdictions within the same state and virtually impossible to vote in two different states. The right-wing just makes up this nonsense in order to try to justify why they want to disenfranchise people.

So, every time some political shill screams out that voter IDs are needed to protect the voting system, we’re going to point out that their sole purpose to limit the number of minorities and students who can vote.

  57. Jack Says:

Republicans try to wrest control from the majority. It’s unconstitutional, for sure, but I wonder if they wouldn’t consider something more… punctuated… to keep the tolerant party from winning the election.

Keep an eye on the pubs. They cheat.

  58. Lauren Says:

Watch Putin-Trump try to cyberhack the voting machines in November.

  59. Lauren Says:

I have resided in Nawth Cackalacky for 24 years and have read of only ONE case of attempted voter fraud in our state during that time period.

This was a bald attempt at intimidating persons of color so they would not vote. Hopefully, those who were to be the victims of the Republicon campaign will remember who tried to do what to whom come November.

The GOP made a huge mistake in not confirming Judge Gardner, a well-known centrist. Pres. Obama taught Constitutional Law full-time for 12 years and probably could recite the name and qualifications of every judge worthy of consideration.

But Hillary is a far different animal and especially because of the platform shift to the left to accommodate Sanders supporters, would be much more likely to nominate more liberal judges. If you look at Hillary as a two-term President, she will be able to fill the current opening.

Probably next would be Justice Ginsberg for age or health. There is currently speculation that Justice Thomas will not remain long without his patron. Thomas has never been a part of the club and doesn’t seem to be able to function without “guidance.”

And just the demographics alone indicate than in an 8-year span she would likely have to replace 1 or 2 other Justices for age or health reasons. Like I say, the GOP screwed itself.

  62. Jack Says:

Anonymous@60, I’m white and I don’t see why blacks or the other OTWs can’t accept that we white are the founders of this country. We made this country, and we as such are entitled to a few privileges.

    Get over it.

  63. Eric Says:

For those of you arguing that we should wait until their is a problem before states enact voter fraud laws. Let me remind you that’s what happened when we got 9-11, we waited until something happened.

  64. Tina Says:

Eric#63, No … we got 9-11 because Bush, Cheney, and that administration ignored the warnings given to them by the out going Democratic administration that there was a danger that terrorist would attempt to hijack jumbo passenger jets and crash them into buildings while they planned a war with Iraq.

One can hardly be more specific than that. If the Reps had given that warning to the Dems and the same happened, given what they did after Benghazi, we would still be having Hearings.

  65. Javier Says:

Yes, Anon#60, Whites know what is happening, but as with white juries refusing to find racist thugs with badges guilty of their murders, most of white America refuses to demand equality for OTWS, and especially blacks.

  66. Ken Says:

The most amazing thing that happened this year, which put America back on track as a democracy, wasn’t Hillary being nominated, although that was amazing, but rather the death of one man.

A man who single handedly perverted, corrupted and poisoned all aspects of life for all Americans for decades.

Who’s vindictive, evil-minded and contemptuous vision has led us down this path to Hell, from which we now emerge victorious and free of his venom and still able to climb from the abyss and into the light of day.

Burn in Hell, Justice Scalia, for history will revere you always, and not kindly.
Long Live America, Long Liver Her People, Long Live Democracy!”

  67. Irene Says:

Ken#66, Wow, I liked your post. It did point out at least one thing the Republicans have done to help America?

They fed Scalia all that rich food so he would die sooner.

  68. Chiya Says:

Republicans are greatly outnumbered in this country. They must use dirty tricks to be viable as a major party, or totally change. They’re not big on change. And, it turns out they have no interest in democracy. And their interest in rule of law is limited to using it as a tool against political opponents.

  69. Melba Says:

Zen Lill I haven’t seen your post on Hilary. Who was your favorite speaker? And what was you take away from the whole DNC experience?

  70. Larry Says:

Senator Cory Booker gave an interview today on Joe Madison’s radio show “The Black Eagle.” When asked about Donald Trump’s treasonous statements calling on Russian hackers to find Hillary Clinton’s “deleted emails” and release them to the public, Booker said he was already in conversations about the implications of Trump’s statements.

“‘Trying to incite a foreign power to take an illegal action against someone who is your political adversary, to me, that clearly disqualifies him to be president of the United States […] This alone should be outrageous enough to see what this person is capable of, what would he be like if he was sitting in the most powerful position on the planet earth? What would his reaction be to inciting violence, to inciting a conflict, to inciting illegal action from the presidency? This is very disturbing.’”

Business has usual on the hill:

BREAKING: President Obama has signed the DARK Act into law. True mandatory GMO labeling has become a thing of the past. The law preempts Vermont’s mandatory GMO labeling law as well as laws which were passed in Connecticut, Maine and Alaska. It also preempts seed labeling laws which had been passed by several states. It is full of loopholes and exemptions that would exempt newer genetic engineering technologies such as Synthetic Biology, CRISPR/cas9, gene editing and gene cassettes.
How ironic is it that our first African American president has passed what is probably the most discriminatory piece of legislation in recent times. The law, which will not take effect for 2 years, will allow companies to use QR codes which require smart phones and data plans in order to access information spun by corporations, on corporate websites. The law discriminates against low income Americans, minorities, busy parents, the elderly, handicapped and rural Americans with no cell phone service. It’s a sad day in the U.S.A. Democracy is no more thanks to The Monsanto President. All we asked for was labels and they wouldn’t do it. We will make them pay at the ballot box and punish these corporate interests with our wallets.

  72. Anonymous Says:

Anon #71, I would like to think that Hillary could turn it around. I know its a slim chance seeing she almost appointed a Monsanto crony to be her VP. But, if elected, maybe she can buck some of the line towing she may have had to do to succeed in her career. I can only hope if elected, she will make good on some of her past mistakes and start to fight for what the people want. We need to give her a chance to.

  73. Mike,TM Says:

Anonymous#71, There are usually two sides to every view of a situation. You happened to have take the pessimistic point of view on this bill. Before Obama signed this bill into law there was NO bill requiring the labeling of genetically modified ingredients.

Understand that Obama had to do what he could to make it a law that food carry the label that the consumer is purchasing a product that has GMOs in it. If those of you who are now crying that Obama didn’t do enough by signing this Bill, then I will remind you that if you lame, complaining hypocrites had gone to the polls and kept the republicans from taking over the Congress, Obama wouldn’t have had to compromise to get a bill through requiring food contain a label stating it has GMOs in it.

“President Barack Obama on July 29, 2016, has signed into law a bill that will require labeling of genetically modified ingredients for the first time. The legislation will require most food packages to carry a text label, a symbol or an electronic code readable by smartphone that indicates whether the food contains genetically modified ingredients, or GMOs. (AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes, File)”

While you are whining about what Obama didn’t do give him credit for being the first POTUS to force Monsanto to have to put a label on the package stating it has GMOs in it. If you as a consumer are against GMOs, then don’t purchase that product.

The Agriculture Department has two years to write the rules, which will pre-empt a Vermont law that kicked in earlier this month. If you people want more, then get out and take back control of the body which writes Legislation. As Obama said don’t boo or in this case bitch after the fact, VOTE.

Thank you Michelle for this article. “Herstory” is so right. His/story has been most of what we hear in this world. And in America that boils down to hiswhitemalestory.

The blogs are full of clever poking fun at the fact that white men in America control what we as americans view as truthful history. It only proves how their racist ignorant white supremacy minds work.

An yeah on occasion some of the clever fun poking or outright denial comes from a white woman or OTW. That only proves the world has its share of sell-outs, Uncle Toms and House Niggers.

Oh, and it one more person says we are over reacting or a vagina shouldn’t be a reason to vote for a POTUS. I’ll just say for now, it is our right to complain about an unfair, oppressive system, a system that historically favors white males. It is not only our right to complain about “Symbolic Annihilation” (Google it), it is our duty as caring human beings to prevent it.

  76. Helena 1 Says:

Correctomondo Alycedale#71, White male opinions on anything concerning the White woman or OTW experience living in white male privileged America is definitely worth less than a white woman or OTW’s. The history of those experiences resonate on a higher level than they ever could with a white american male, despite his best intentions.

Ergo the perspective of a white woman or OTW is significantly more important than a white american male’s could ever be.

  77. Ben Says:

When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law. I was right there in the room. This was the moment I realized that I was a part of something much bigger than myself — I was a part of a movement that was changing the lives of millions of my fellow Americans for the better, and pushing for a better, more hopeful future.

It was an almost surreal experience. I knew right then and there that President Obama had inspired more than just hope and change, he had inspired people to get involved in their communities so they could determine the kind of country we would have. This movement and the idea that individuals have the power to change their communities — to change the world — through dialogue and grassroots organizing, still inspires me today.

I know I’m not alone on this — that’s why OFA is putting together a little grassroots gesture for President Obama’s birthday.

Add your name to OFA’s birthday card for the President and then share a message about how he or this movement has inspired you.

Birthday cards are a simple way of saying thanks to someone who matters to you. So, take this opportunity to say thank you to a leader — an organizer — who is fighting every day, year-in and year-out, for the kind of change you and I care so much about.

For the naysayers who say Hillary Clinton is just following the goals that Obama put forth, someone should be pointing out that more than one poll has shown a majority would be happy if Obama could serve a third term.

Having Hillary continue his goals (plus her own) is not a bad thing. It shows a desire to continue the progress we have made. The difference this time is that after the election in November, there is a real chance she won’t have to fight alone to accomplish the goals.

  82. Zen Lill Says:

69 Melba, sorry been off taking care of life business, popped in here and there are just too many comments to make in response …
mostly to arrogant man made assertions about the superiority of the choice they’re currently stuck with…so I stopped,
took screenshots of a few I wanted to speak to … my phone is charging so that’ll happen later…

I tried to watch Trump’s speech 3x’s just to get a handle on some of Hilary’s commentary …
but cannot get past 30 minutes of his political talking, cannot listen to him too long,
in my mind, he shouldn’t have gotten past his stump speech year ago and he hasn’t gotten much better,
though he is definitely a master at branding himself.

I didn’t catch the whole DNC line up, only Hilary, though most if it was putting DT in his place,
it was necessary. My favorite line about him knowing more than generals (someone mentioned it here) ‘No you don’t’ …
that’s how knee deep in poop the R party is right now,
must be a proud moment (not).

I’m not mad in love with Hilary but I do believe she’s the best candidate with the background to get things done
IF the Dems come back out at mid-terms otherwise we’ve got another issue, the same same as Obama had to deal with….
hope we all plan to get out there and do that, and of course, I want a woman as commander in chief,
that’s a herstpric moment and one that to me, is long overdue.

We know that with her as POTUS the representation of women will finally get some air time
and that’s long overdue as well.

Obamacare could use some tweaking, I’m now paying for insurance what most pay for a lease in a good neighborhood…
it’ll get fixed I’m sure…(or I’ll be going for full expat status) …

…and that’s the short of the long story that is this US election year.

    Luv, Zen Lill
