Good morning!
From the Daily Kos:
Tourist stuns crowds at the Lincoln Memorial with incredible rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’
G. Star Swain was visiting the Lincoln Memorial with friends or family and one them turned on his camera and talked her into doing an impromptu version of the “Star Spangled Banner” that is sure to induce goosebumps.
Watch as her beautiful, heartfelt rendition eventually demands the attention of every single person at the memorial. Thanks for sharing, G. Star Swain!

I have been upset since President Obama’s election. The republicans have been so disrespectful of the office of POTUS because a black man sits in the office.
There intense disrespect has brought us to where we are today in politics. I offer this article because it moved me.

Showing respect
By Krista Gaza Jul 2, 2016 (1)
One of the most important lessons I learned as a child, and the one that I want to instill in my son and other kids in my life, is that of showing proper respect. Showing respect to your elders, and to people in authority in your life is a given, and not often necessary to “teach and explain” the whole concept.
It really comes into play for me when someone shows disrespect towards me or my family, or something I care about. Recently, my son overheard a news report about the fighting that took place with police officers getting hurt. This was a teaching moment if I ever had one.
I started by reiterating the report, to make sure he understood what had been said, and what had been confirmed. Then I started asking him questions about what he thought and felt when he heard reports like this. The first thing he said was that he hoped the police officers were all OK.
The second thing he said was that it was scary to hear that so many people were involved in the fight.
He was quiet for a time, and then said that he thought the worst part of the whole situation was that no one showed any respect for each other.
He went on to explain to me that, the neighbors should have been more respectful to each other to begin with, so that the fight would not ever have started. I was so proud of him at that moment.
I know our world is very different now, as compared to when I was young. I know that being a respectful and courteous person is somehow, not “cool” or out of fashion for some of the people roaming our planet.
Our only hope is to teach our children to respect and show tolerance and courtesy towards people everywhere in their lives. Of course, to respect authoritative figures and people like teachers, and law enforcement, but also towards others that are not so obvious.
Kids in the neighborhood, the pizza delivery person, the server taking your order, or the guys who are working hard, driving the truck and picking up your trash – they all deserve your respect.
It takes all kinds of people, from all walks of life to make this world grow and evolve, and hopefully – flourish. The next time you’re in the car and a news report offers you a chance to reiterate the concepts of courtesy, respect and tolerance, please take advantage of the opportunity to relay this message to your kids.
There is no greater feeling as a parent than knowing that you have raised your kids to be the best they can be, and having respectful and courteous children is a fantastic reflection on you as a parent and as a human being.

Anna#3, Lived in a ghetto, in squalor, in poverty, where you are constantly looked at as a “burden” even if you work hard and play by the rules? Which world are you living in? I know. There are two, on Guam.

I love the Warriors, and my country, Happy 4th everybody.

What are you going to do with those crazy islamic maniacs?
A suicide bomber has killed four security officers and injured five others near one of Islam’s holiest sites in the Saudi city of Medina, according to the interior ministry.
I guess the simplest answer is let the cult wipe itself out. But that means a lot of collateral damage to the rest of us.
July 4th, 2016 at 4:09 pm
With the coming of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, you can expect more suicide bombs.

Molly#9, The bastards ruined my 4th plans. After:
A suicide gun and bomb attack targeted Istanbul airport on 28 June, killing 45 people.
Attackers struck a cafe in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, last Friday night. Twenty hostages and two policemen were killed.
A massive truck bomb in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, on Sunday left at least 165 people dead.

I decided to just stay home.

Howie, what does China know?
China eyes hunt for alien life with giant telescope
China on Sunday hoisted the final piece into position on what will be the world’s largest radio telescope, which it will use to explore space and help in the hunt for extraterrestrial life, state media said.
The 500-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST, is the size of 30 football fields and has been hewed out of a mountain in the poor southwestern province of Guizhou.
Scientists will now start debugging and trials of the telescope, Zheng Xiaonian, deputy head of the National Astronomical Observation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which built the telescope, told the official Xinhua news agency.
“The project has the potential to search for more strange objects to better understand the origin of the universe and boost the global hunt for extraterrestrial life,” the report paraphrased Zheng as saying.
The 1.2-billion yuan ($180 million) radio telescope would be a global leader for the next one to two decades, Zheng added.

Just so you know David#13. This story whether true or not was brought to light by the billionaire republican backers who don’t want the donald to be the republican nominee.
They are afraid one that he can’t win when they feel Hilary will be an easy target to beat. The feel that if they steal enough votes and do their usual manipulation of the count, and voter suppression no one will make a big stink because it is plausible that Hilary could lose.
But that scenario will not work with trump as the candidate.
Second a donald trump loss could cost the republicans the Senate. That could mean a SCOTUS willing to strike down the serious gerrymandering that has given the GOP the House.
Without gerrymandering republican candidates for the House will have to get votes from a more diluted pool. The next census is coming so they need to control who gets appointed to SCOTUS. Losing the Senate would be a death knell to that.
So they leaked this story to give them a “reason” to promote a different candidate. The bets are on romney, a governor or a sitting Senator.
The GOP convention will be a huge surprise to many.

Anna#3, what is your opinion on the plebiscite concerning Guam’s relationship with the US? This is one of the article floating around the mainland Chamorros.
HAGATNA, Guam — A new report from Guam’s public auditor says the island received more than $550 million from the federal government in fiscal year 2015.
The Pacific Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/29gHVay ) that the report was released Friday, weeks before officials are set to discuss whether island residents should be able to reconsider Guam’s relationship with the U.S. If put on the November ballot, voters would decide whether the island should seek statehood, free association with the U.S. or exit from the U.S.
Public Auditor Doris Flores Brooks says an independent Guam would have trouble affording all the public services it’s expected to provide without federal assistance.
Victoria Leon Guerrero counters that Guam could provide those services on its own and expand its economy by opening up shipping, tourism and other trade sectors.
