“The Mentorship” Feat – POTUS & Steph

Good morning!

I hope everyone is enjoying celebrating with family and friends during this long holiday weekend!

In light of keeping it light, I loved reading about two of my favorite men getting together for a little fun and a great cause!

Watch Obama Help Steph Curry With His Jump Shot, Destroy Him In Connect Four

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors may have both had a record-breaking season, but that doesn’t mean the NBA superstar isn’t above getting a little help.

In a video released by the White House Saturday, Curry got a little assistance from President Barack Obama on his résumé, a science project and even his jump shot.

But even though he president seems like he’d be a pretty good mentor, he wasn’t above showing off a little bit for Curry. After beating him in a game of Connect Four, he mimicked one of Curry’s signature dance moves — something Obama has previously described as “clowning.”

The video was released to encourage Americans to mentor young people as part of Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper“ initiative, an effort the White House launched in 2014 to prepare youth for college and the workplace.

🇺🇸🏀🇺🇸

Curry: I’ll go dancing with you any time!

Obama: You know how I feel about you.

But seriously ever thought of being a mentor? Do it.

Happy Sunday – Make it a fun day!

  1. Kathy Says:

    Love me some Curry.

  2. Emily Says:

Michelle the way the violence is going in this world I felt safe only at home. I celebrated my 4th out of country yesterday.

  3. Anna/Guam Says:

Thank you Michelle, for your keeping “the power of women acting in unison” constantly before us.

The Girlz of Guam secretly working together to influence the uses of natural treatments between a patient and her doctor helped to get this passed.
    ===========================
Stemming from a recommendation to reject the proposed rules pertaining to medical marijuana, Sen. Tina Muña-Barnes has introduced sweeping amendments to the Joaquin “KC” Concepcion II Compassionate Cannabis Use Act of 2013.

The changes include an expansion to the types of diseases covered by the act, the addition of provisions covering laboratory testing and the establishment of a “Compassionate Cannabis Use Fund.”

Only individuals with “debilitating medical conditions” are eligible for medical marijuana use under Guam law. The original act specified a number of diseases under the definition of debilitating conditions, with the Department of Public Health and Social Services able to approve the addition of other diseases.

The amended act still includes a set number of conditions but removes the DPHSS-approval requirement and replaces it with language allowing coverage of any disease a patient’s practitioner determines can be treated through the use of medicinal marijuana.

“That is a huge victory for us,” said Andrea Pellacani, president of Women Grow Guam, a local group promoting the therapeutic use of marijuana. One of the group’s criticisms of the original act was the limitation on the types of diseases covered under law.

“One of the things we’ve been talking about was empowering patients … to discuss with your doctor, without the bureaucracy in between, the option to seek a more natural treatment for yourself,” Pellacani said.
    ========================
The Girlz of Guam are a group of women from all the social strata of Guam and the Northern Mariana. We keep our club secret so that it can’t be attacked from outside.

We decided to do this because the Catholic Church has so much power on Guam and in the Northern Mariana. It is negative influence because it seeks to keep women from being empowered in so many ways.

Hafa Adai Michelle, We love you.

  4. Health Info Says:

A Better Way to Kill Ticks…Before They Bite
    ————————————-
It’s tick season, so when you come indoors after a day in the great outdoors, you toss your clothes into the washing machine—it’s a good precaution in case any ticks have hitched a ride into your home. All that hot soapy water will kill any ticks, right?

    Maybe not.

Although washing clothes, and then drying them for an hour, has been the official prevention advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it’s not the best approach, according to new research in the journal Ticks and Tick-Borne Diseases by researchers at the CDC, the University of Vermont College of Medicine and the University of Massachusetts.

Ticks, it turns out, love water.

In the study, 94% survived cold-water washes, and 50% survived hot-water washes. Once the clothes were wet, it took 70 minutes to kill the ticks in dryers on low heat, 50 minutes in dryers on high heat.

So while you’re probably OK with the standard wash-then-60-minute-dry advice, there’s a much more efficient approach—just toss the clothes in the dryer on high heat right away. No washing first.

It kills all the ticks—in six minutes. Most are dead in four minutes.

So when your clothes may have ticks on them, dry them on high for six minutes—then wash if they’re dirty.

  5. Health Info Says:

The Health Info advice was taken from:

Source: Study titled “The heat is on: Killing blacklegged ticks in residential washers and dryers to prevent tickborne diseases” by researchers at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Fort Collins, Colorado, University of Vermont College of Medicine, Burlington, University of Massachusetts, Boston, Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Barre, published in Tick and Tick-borne Diseases.

  6. Anonymous Says:

Emily#2 – Yes it is a scary world. Mainly because of those who attempt to force their religious beliefs upon others.

    Christians are just as guilty.

“I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.” – Mahatma Gandhi

  7. Khwaja Says:

I love my country. Today I celebrate its 4th with my family in our country and wish my relatives in their countries peace one day.

  8. Akilina Says:

I am a white russian who immigrated to this country 20 years ago with my parents. They still long for “Mother Russia.”

I don’t America is my home. I am a girl, but I would fight to the death to protect this beautiful country. I know we can do better by our OTWs and we will.

As for the religious fanatics, my quote of the day is this:

“People of faith, who have true faith, do not require the government to reinforce their faith. People of strong faith do not force others to adhere to their beliefs in the name of practicing their own faith.

It is those who are weak, shallow who feel the need to create laws and force their beliefs on others.”

  9. Roberta Says:

When I look at the terror and death caused by people who are trying to force others to accept their religious beliefs, I am so happy to be in America.

    Happy 4th to everyone.

  10. Patriciaa Says:

President Obama is just too wonderful. He will be missed.

Happy 4th to for the first time a POTUS who serves all this great country’s peoples. President Barak Obama.

  11. Lill on Guam Says:

We celebrated our 4th yesterday on Guam. But today I am in San Francisco to do it all over again.

  12. Marilyn Says:

Michelle I used to belong to the End of Line Girls Club. but I quit to become a Girlz 3 months ago. Some of us would like to be Girlz.

How can we do it? We are all college grads with at least 2 years of work experience in our chosen fields. Some of are lawyers, nurses, doctors, actresses, accountants, architects, secretaries, business owners, among other fields.

Half of us want to become Girlz with you, the other half wants to see if the 1st half disappears. I’m a real estate broker, a very successful one, but I would give it all up for a life as a Girlz on a space ship.

What do we do if we want to go. Has anyone ever changed their minds and returned?
