Asia’s Wildest Cities

Good morning!

I HOPE everyone had a wonderful weekend! If it wasn’t enough fun for you, perhaps this will whet your appetite for more. It certainly did for me. I have been fortunate to have traveled to a few of these places. But I’m not done yet. You?

Form Nothing Familiar:

Cities

Asia’s Wildest Cities

Of the countless things to see and do in Asia, often the biggest draw is that of the unknown. Tourists and travelers alike flock here in search of something far from the norm, and to escape there daily comfort zones. While there is plenty to see and do on the world’s largest continent, the most exciting places are undoubtedly its major metropolitan areas. So it’s time to unleash your crazy side… Here are Asia’s wildest cities!!

Bangkok, Thailand

Why not start this list off with a bang? When you’re talking about Asia’s wildest cities, Bangkok should immediately come to mind. As both the countries capital and its most populated city, Bangkok is the melting pot of everything Thailand. With its bustling streets, strange food, and outrageous transportation options, this is definitely a must see place if you’re heading through Southeast Asia. Yet, if the sights and sounds aren’t enough to entertain you, Bangkok’s nightlife has quite the reputation!

Hong Kong

With your first glimpse of Hong Kong Island it’s easy to tell they mean business, and they certainly know how to showcase it! Aside from being one of the world headquarters of finance, there is plenty to do and see in this illustrious city. However, it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies. As a British territory from the end of the First Opium War all the way until 1997, Hong Kong has had both an interesting and tumultuous history. Nevertheless, with its steady rise economically, there are only good things store for this giant island metropolis.

fodors

Manila, Philippines

As far as cities go, it doesn’t get much wilder than the capital of the Philippines! Established by Spanish Conquistadors in 1571, Manila has gone through sweeping changes in the hundreds of years that followed. So when you’re not exploring the underground tunnels or checking out one of Manila’s beautiful churches, make some time to see some history! Oh wait, did I say churches? Yeah that’s right! One of the most interesting things about this country of 100 Million people, is that it’s predominantly Roman Catholic. On a continent with several different popular religions such as Islam and Buddhism, the Philippines proudly boasts as the only one heavily preaching Christianity.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Now what would a list of Asia’s wildest cities be without Vietnam? The city formerly known as Saigon has truly become a world of its own! In very few cities can you have the type of amazing experiences like in Ho Chi Minh, all on an absurdly low budget. I can still remember walking the muggy streets, floating in between soup and noodle stands, and grabbing a fresh beer to wash it all down. The smells and sounds of Ho Chi Minh are unforgettable, and the activities are even better!

Jakarta, Indonesia

Not only is Jakarta the political, financial, and cultural center of Indonesia, but it’s also one hell of a wild city! With a whopping 10 million people, Jakarta is Southeast Asia’s most populated metropolis. Although this dense area may be filled with unhealthy amounts of pollution and traffic, there is plenty for you to uncover and explore! Differing from Manila, Jakarta has a large Muslim population which makes it unique from most big cities in Asia. From the spices, to the nightlife, to the lively markets, don’t miss out on everything Indonesia’s wildest city has to offer.

jakarta-city

Taipei, Taiwan

Located on the most northern part of Taiwan and 1,300 miles off the coast of Southeastern China, is one of the most sacred cities on earth! So what can you expect on your visit to Taipei? Constant street festivals, unique food, and a certain buzz you wont find anywhere else in the world! Not to mention, you’ll be surrounded by mountains, rivers, the pacific ocean, and witness to one of greatest spectacles of modern architecture, Taipei 101!

??101, ???? (Taipei 101 and skyline, Taipei, Taiwan)

Macau, China

We couldn’t just go with any old city in China now could we? As the gambling capital of the world, the bright lights of Macau can definitely make for some wild days and nights! This incredible port city on the South China Sea is a place for Asia’s elite to let loose and have some fun. Even with the recent economic downturn, Macau’s 33 glorious casinos generate five times more revenue on a yearly basis than Las Vegas! Are you feeling lucky?

mac

Yangon, Myanmar

Ever since Myanmar has been unlocked to the western world, millions of travelers have poured into this special place to see what it’s all about. So what sets Yangon apart from the rest of the wildest cities on this list? Well for starters, they have the Shwedagon Pagoda, the largest and most sacred Buddhist temple in Myanmar. If that isn’t enough to get your juices flowing, the local markets, an amazing selection of vegetarian food, and simple Burmese way of life are all sure to impress. With increasing levels of tourism already underway, now is definitely the time to get to Yangon!

Shwedagon-Pagoda-001

Tokyo, Japan

Why not end this with the worlds biggest and craziest city? With a mere 37 million people, Tokyo promises to be not just one of the wildest cities in Asia, but on planet earth! For those who haven’t had the pleasure, picture Times Square in New York taking over an entire city. While the cramped streets might not be for everyone, the lights, the dance clubs, and the spectacle that is Tokyo, makes it an important item on the bucket list!

  2. Hilary in 2016 Says:

    Finally:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stoically weathered a ceaseless storm of slander swirling around her, victim of a Republican witch-hunt aimed solely at derailing her chances of winning the American presidency. But she may finally have some vindication, as this morning, a House of Representatives report from the Select Benghazi Committee was published definitely exonerating Clinton from the absurd charges that she bears the blame for American deaths in the 2011 terrorist attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi by the radical militant group Ansar al-Sharia, and declares that it “is long past time for the Select Committee to conclude its work.”

The report provides conclusive evidence that the Clinton State Department granted the many requests for extra security made by the embassy embodied, debunking the false narrative circulated by right-wing conspiracy theorist radio hosts and most recently by presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, who claims that “Ambassador Stevens and his staff in Libya made hundreds and hundreds of requests for security. They were desperate. They needed help. Hillary Clinton’s State Department refused them all.”

The truth is that House Republicans cut the funding for embassy security by $128 million in fiscal 2011 and $331 million in fiscal year 2012, placing the blame for the attack’s success on their own shoulders. In 2011, a year before the attack, Clinton herself had warned that the embassy budget cuts were “detrimental to America’s national security” – and House Republicans ignored her warnings.

The report goes further and details twenty six unique points slamming their own committee on Benghazi for “squander[ing] millions of dollars in a partisan effort to attack a presidential candidate.” The Committee has been conducting its “business” without a set budget, without a set plan operation, of purposefully withholding information in order to implicate Secretary Clinton, of fabricating false allegations against Secretary Clinton and then cherry-picking evidence with obvious bias in order to make those allegations appear valid, and of using political threats in order to bully other Departments into complicity.

Their final conclusion was that “the Defense Department could not have done anything differently on the night of the attacks that would have saved the lives of the four brave Americans killed in Benghazi, and although the military’s global posture prevented it from responding more quickly that night, improvements were made years ago. ”

Clinton has held her head high despite absurd allegations of everything from her refusing to secure the embassy in Benghazi to ridiculous implications that she was in league with terrorists. The double standard being applied to former Secretary Clinton is simply outrageous – Republicans love to forget, for instance, that their hero Ronald Reagan turned a blind eye to an Iraqi jet firing two missiles into the USS Stark in 1987, which killed 37 US sailors but was swept under the rug in order to not damage relations with Saddam Hussein. That was a true scandal worthy of a lengthy investigation, but modern Republicans know no bounds when it comes to their hypocrisy – and their laserlike focus on derailing the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

  3. Social Butterfly Says:

In a decisive 5-3 decision, the Supreme Court struck down the strict abortion laws in Texas that caused more than half of the state’s abortion clinics to close. Texas had imposed onerous requirements on abortion clinics, requiring that doctors who perform abortions maintain admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and that all abortions be performed in hospital-like surgical centers. The majority (consisting of Justices Kennedy, Breyer, Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Kagan) decided the restrictions create an unconstitutional burden on women seeking to end their pregnancies.

PLEASE consider adding your name to say “Thank You” to these five justices for standing up and striking down the Republican lawmakers who continuously try to attack the reproductive rights/choices of the American women.

I signed and I hope you will be moved to sign and thank them, too:

  4. One more for Hillary in 2016 Says:

I for one would love to see the POTUS appointed to the SCOTUS!!! YES!!!!

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said she “loves” the idea of appointing Barack Obama to the Supreme Court if she’s elected president.
At a campaign event in Iowa Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton told the crowd the next president may have to appoint up to three Supreme Court justices. When one attendee mentioned Mr. Obama as a contender, she seemed excited by the recommendation.
“Wow, what a great idea. No one has ever suggested that to me, I love that, wow,” Mrs. Clinton said. “He may have a few other things to do, but I tell you, that’s a great idea.
“I mean, he’s brilliant, he can set forth an argument and he was a law professor,” she added. “So he’s got all the credentials, but we would have to get a Democratic Senate to get him confirmed.”

  5. Anonymous Says:

The Supreme Court’s decision invalidating key components of HB2, a Texas law imposing draconian regulations on abortion clinics, gave reproductive rights advocates *almost* everything they could have wanted.* Justice Stephen Breyer’s majority opinion in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt clearly declares that Texas’ TRAP law imposes an unconstitutional “undue burden” on women’s ability to terminate their pregnancies. His opinion, however, is also somewhat dry—in classic Breyer fashion—and treads lightly in criticizing Texas’ assertion that it must regulate abortion clinics out of existence in order to “protect women’s health.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg signed onto Breyer’s decision—but in a separate concurrence, she provided a decidedly blunter assessment of Texas’ anti-abortion argument. “The Texas law called H. B. 2 inevitably will reduce the number of clinics and doctors allowed to provide abortion services,” Ginsburg explained. “Texas argues that H. B. 2’s restrictions are constitutional because they protect the health of women who experience complications from abortions. In truth, ‘complications from an abortion are both rare and rarely dangerous’ ”—as demonstrated in an amicus brief by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

“Many medical procedures, including childbirth, are far more dangerous to patients, yet are not subject to ambulatory surgical-center or hospital admitting-privileges requirements,” Ginsburg continued, including “tonsillectomy, colonoscopy, and in-office dental surgery.” Then the justice spelled out the core of the Whole Woman’s Health holding—and provided a warning to other states eager to repeat Texas’ attempt to cut back on abortion rights in the name of protecting women. (Ginsburg quotes Judge Richard Posner’s abortion opinion from November; I’ve excised the quotes for clarity.)

Given [these] realities, it is beyond rational belief that H. B. 2 could genuinely protect the health of women, and certain that the law would simply make it more difficult for them to obtain abortions. When a State severely limits access to safe and legal procedures, women in desperate circumstances may resort to unlicensed rogue practitioners, faute de mieux, at great risk to their health and safety. So long as this Court adheres to Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pa. v. Casey, Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers laws like H. B. 2 that do little or nothing for health, but rather strew impediments to abortion, cannot survive judicial inspection.

    Proud of my SCOTUS today!

  6. Irene Says:

Jakarta is my favorite. I love the place.

  7. Kevin Says:

@2, All this and it was all written on the wall. If they would have allotted that money towards security, it wouldn’t have happened.

Yet, the dems are too dumb to jump on this and keep it if front of the American people that it was the repubs that screwed the Benghazi embassy.

Get a pair dems. Let the people know about the death they dealt to that embassy and the problems they are dealing to our other embassies.

  8. Jeff Says:

Nice finding #2, for the next one, how about Bush/Cheney sent to Hague for war crimes.

  9. Carlos Says:

The republicans are just a bunch of hypocrites.

  10. Henry Says:

Too bad Zen Lill. Would have loved to have met you

  11. Kim Says:

Jeff#8, Bush & Cheney should be in jail! For the rest of their lives. They lied about everything. There were no WMD’s and Saddam Hussein was not responsible for 911.

  12. Douglas Says:

Jeff#8, let’s just send them to the water hoarding area I mean hell they’re into torture let’s give them a taste of their own medicine.

  13. Mike Says:

Kim#11, you are an idiot, they found WMDs

  14. Bobby Says:

Jeff#8, They are the fathers of ISIS.

  15. Jeff Says:

Mike#13 – They did? Where? Info please.

  16. Lucia Says:

  17. John Says:

Mike#13,why wasnt that info put out anywhere?

  18. Sandra Says:

Mike#13, Bullshtt…are you really just that stupid???

  19. Ruth/AF Says:

Thanks Social Butterfly for the good news. Yes we should thank the five for their common sense judgement. We should also send letter to the remaining misogynists R.A.T.s on the Court.

    R.-oberts
    A.-lito
    T.- homas

These RATs are bought and paid for minions of the rich and religious zealots.

  20. Patricia Says:

I love that idea #4. Obama on the Supreme Court would be a rallying point for OTWs all over this country.

  21. Cary Says:

Racist whites just hates the fact that a black man is POTUS. They do everything in their power to denigrate him. In the last 7 years he has given us.

    - 14 million new private sector jobs.
    - 18 million gain access to healthcare
    - unemployment cut in 1/2.

  22. Brady Says:

Hilary suggesting she would appoint that nigger to SCOTUS Kind of reminds me of a scene from a movie about a drug addict that tells a guy that he will suck him for a hit. I know it is vulgar, but that is how much I despise that bitch.

  23. jJessica Says:

The internet is full of blogs with names like “freepeople’s ….,” freerepublic,” “realclearpolitics’ etc. BigBrother names that suggest the opposite of their intentions. All these are livid because Hilary suggested she liked the idea of Obama being a member of SCOTUS.

Why the present bunch of crooks, idiots and incompetent the republican presidents have appointed to SCOTUS have so lowered the bar as to make it possible to put anybody on that court.

Obama would be in good company with the ladies and he would not be bought by the billionaires and special interests.

  24. Anonymous Says:

“Once he leaves office, Barack Obama will still remain a formidable
presence in American public life a man with the potential to exert a
powerful influence on his party, his country and the world.”

“As a former constitutional lawyer and teacher, Obama is more than qualified professionally (for the Supreme Court.)”

  25. Rachel Says:

Obama for SCOTUS. It is actually not a bad idea. I will suggest it to Bernie!

  26. Gerry Says:

    Poll just released – -
Most Americans believe Hillary Clinton will be elected President.

Barack Obama will become one of the greatest Justices to have ever served on the Supreme Court.

  27. Donnie Says:

Hmmm…..I see Billary can’t even keep the facts straight about a man she despises. First, Obama was never a Law Professor, or an Adjuct Professor, or even an Assistant Professor – he was a Senior Lecturer. Oblamer continuously lies & calls himself a “Law Professor” – but he was never hired as a professor & was never given that title. Second, both Oblamer & his spouse have had their law licenses revoked – clearly an issue when working in the field of law.

  28. Tracy Says:

Since Hillary Clinton is going to beat Donald Trump in a landslide ….

President Obama will need to start thinking more seriously about becoming a Supreme Court Justice.

The University of Chicago Law School said he served as a Professor of Comstitutional Law for many years, and President Obama has a clear interest in jurisprudence, which means he is the ideal choice for SCOTUS.

  29. Connie Says:

    Donnie@27,

    The only LIAR?

    It’s you.

The Obamas’ law licenses are inactive.

Inactive means they can practice law again if they renew.

Which they won’t until they’re done with their other jobs.

As in President & First Lady, in case you didn’t ‘t know.

  30. Dwight Says:

Donnie#27, you are one of those racist republicans that spread lies because you have nothing that will stand up to put Obama down.

A court official confirms that no public disciplinary proceeding has ever been brought against either of
them, contrary to a false Internet rumor.

By voluntarily inactivating their licenses, they avoid a requirement to take continuing education classes and pay hundreds of dollars in annual fees. Both could practice law again if they chose to do so.

You creeps need to crawl into a corner and die.

  31. Donnie Says:

Obama called himself a “constitutional law professor” – which was another one of his lies. He was never given the title of professor by the University of Chicago. His title was Senior Lecturer. It’s an insult to true tenured Professors, Assistant Professors & Adjunct Professors (i.e. those who met the qualifications to earn the title) when someone without the qualifications to be a Professor continuously lies about being one.

  32. Larry Says:

Barack Obama would not be the first former president to sit on the Supreme Court, but he would be the best prepared former president.

I can’t imagine a better way for the country to use his talents after he leaves his present office. Of course, a present Justice has to leave the court first (or at least announce a retirement date).

  33. Paris Says:

    Donnie#31, you are a LSOS.

The University of Chicago Law School statement in 2008:

“From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a PROFESSOR in the Law School.”

The Law School gets to have the final say on the matter.

    Not you.

  34. Owen Says:

Donnie#31, The University of Chicago Law School said he was a professor.

    It’s in their statement.

They still get the final say no matter how often you lie about it.

  35. Pauline Says:

Obama would make the Supreme Court Great Again. It’s been hijacked by right wingers who’ve forced through their extreme agenda in defiance of most Americans’ values.

  36. Zac Says:

Hillary Clinton is a very smart lady.
Chief Justice Barack Obama would do a much better job than the current Bush appointee. Roberts’ Citizen United decision has been a disaster by allowing elections to be bought by corrupt billionaires (see D Trump.)

  37. Anonymous Says:

jessica#23, I agree. Appointing Obama to SCOTUS would be a great idea if for no other reason than such an event would cause the right wing trolls to explode.

  38. Allison Says:

    Hillary Clinton is right, again…
It is a great idea to consider President Obama for the Highest Court.
    He’s a
    • 12-year Constitutional Law professor at top school U of Chicago
    • Columbia and Harvard Law grad
    • United States Senator representing Illinois
    • distinguished, successful President
    • best selling author
    • Nobel Peace Prize winner

Though it sounds like the President may want to return to teaching for awhile, and pursue charitable interests, the next President Clinton will have 8 years to make the selection after another Justice retires.

  39. Rodney Says:

Hillary a donkey could do a better job than Obongo that got his qualifications in a packet of Kellogg breakfast mix .

  40. Willie Says:

MAKE ME PUKE,,,SOMEONE STOP THIS NIGHTMARE,I WANT TO WAKE UP

  41. Steven Says:

ustice Barack Obama has a great ring to it!

    As does President Hillary Clinton!

  42. Johnny Says:

Ok now we know what there thinking ! Another satanic conspiracy !

If Obama was appointed to the supreme court there would be revolution in the country ! This would be the iceberg that sunk the illuminati for good in America !

  43. Noah Says:

Poor old hillary..i think she meant to say: ” I will appoint Obama to the Supreme Council of the Galactic Federation..errr….huma….my pills….”

  44. Brittany Says:

President Obama has done an excellent job in office.
It’s why he won by a landslide… Twice.

World leaders, and interviewers have been impressed with his knowledge, and grasp of complex issues. Even those at Fox News ( can’t say they have any respect for GOP front runner Trump.) President Clinton will earn high marks for her choice in Court appointee.

  45. Ernest Says:

This is what you call a bribe. She is trying to stay out of prison.

  46. Richard Says:

Barry Soetoro was banned from practicing law in Illinois because of his fraudulent identity. Hopefully that would carry to a nationwide ban.
The fact that “Obama” is actually a citizen of Indonesia and an illegal alien should also ban him for life from being on the Supreme Court.
Then we have the fact “Obama’s” graduate education at Colombia and Harvard both being total fraud as there is evidence he didn’t even attend either school. C- foreign students cannot transfer to Harvard, it is simply impossible, even if they are an African or in “Obama’s” case African-Indonesian.

I would love to see Trump immediately after taking the oath announce his first executive action will be to nullify all executive orders of “Obama” and order that Barry Soetoro be immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest for high treason. After Barry Soetoro is dragged off the podium in chains, Trump during his first speech could inform the treasonous scumbags in congress they have until sundown to leave the country or face prosecution for high treason. About 525 members of congress would be running for the nearest airport. That would be the way to start Trump’s presidency off with a bang. It would make for the greatest inaugural party in the history of all mankind.

This would create a new independence day to go down in the pages of history as the day America began the purging of the most evil, criminal, out of control, fascist government.

  47. Olga Says:

Smart idea. I only wish Barack Obama could run for a 3rd term, but he will become an historic, well respected replacement on the SCOTUS.

  48. Stanley Says:

Obama is a piece of sh it. He has a better chance of becoming a men’s room attendant at a third-rate hotel.

  49. JoAnn Says:

One of the best decisions President HILLARY CLINTON will make is appointing President Obama to the United States Supreme Court. He will bring the Court back to the Center – Left, reflecting the views if the majority of Anericans.

  50. Gene Says:

Are you fucking insane. If this leftist piece of stool ever was appointed to the Supreme Court. (Which by the way would never happen.) You can dang well guarantee he would try to eliminate every piece of the constitution he could since you know “it’s just an old Piece of paper written by racist honkies.” God it’s truly a scary thing that your probably allowed to vote. Center left! Jesus you’re a moron.

  51. Ellen Says:

Stanley#48, Ah….a right wing male in need of a bigger penis.

  52. Kelly Says:

Gene#50, would you like some soothers. It hasn’t even happened and you’re throwing yourself on the floor.

  53. Stanley Says:

Hillary needs to get laid. Or at least fingered.

  54. Gus Says:

Obama should be arrested at the same time they arrest Hillary

  55. Harry Says:

Stanley#53, if you are volunteering you should use your finger. Actually it’s not likely a woman would notice the difference if you used that tiny pecker of yours.

  56. Robin Says:

President Barack Obama will go down in history as the man who saved the US economy after George Bush’s Great RecessionS, and protected Americans after Bush let Al Qaeda strike in the US with the worst terrorist attack in American History.

He will make an excellent, and fair Justice for the next several decades. Well done, Hillary!

  57. Beverly Says:

Gus#54, Only after GW, Cheney and others are arrested, sent to The Hague and tried as war criminals. When can you make that happen.

  58. Sarah Says:

Anon#5, Sane men and women all over America are proud of SCOTUS today.

  59. Mario Says:

    Life begins at birth.

  60. Wilma Says:

I’m starting to realize that Christians are a danger to society.

  61. Ira Says:

Most mass shooters are white guys, so I guess we should be profiling all white guys. Just sayin’.

  62. Bobby Says:

As the SCOTUS ruling stated, unduly onerous, and non-clinical regulation of abortion providers will not survive judicial review.

  63. Aaron Says:

A person who thinks he is so wise that he has no need for God is deluding himself and is the opposite of wise.

  64. Lucy Says:

Aaron#63, Not everyone believes in your God.

  65. Donald Says:

Orlando, perfect example of Obama’s failed policies.

  66. Lia Says:

Aaron#63, Oh okay, well if you SAY so then it must be true.

  67. Stacy Says:

Donald#65, Actually it’s a more accurate representation of right-wing homophobia manifesting in a confused and rejected individual with unabridged access to high powered firearms.

  68. Brian Says:

Why aren’t so-called “conservatives” pleased with this decision by the Supreme Court? It reduces unnecessary and burdensome government restrictions on the freedom of American citizens, which is exactly what conservatives are always prescribing.

  69. Andy Says:

Brian#68, So laws against murder, theft, kidnapping, extortion, assault, vandalism, etc. should be overturned right? So we can all have the freedom to do what we want. Are you an agent of hell? What a dolt.

  70. Brian Says:

Andy, Not really — all of your examples are illegal acts, whereas it is the law of the land that abortion is a legal service.

So I was just pointing out that conservatives are big fans of less government interference in the legal commercial lives of citizens, until that conflicts with their religious beliefs — in that case, they want more government interference.

  71. Randy Says:

Brian#70, Yeah, so Democrats made it legal to kill babies. What’s your point? Being against killing babies isn’t a “religious belief”.

  72. Beverly Says:

Randy#71, First of all Justice Kennedy is a conservative and ruled in favor of striking down the law. Stop complaining about the Democrats. A lot of Republicans are pro choice.

  73. Brian Says:

Randy#71, I’m not sure myself how the decision was made that abortion is legal — that was a long time ago, so I’m just not sure if it was one party or the other.

The main thing that I recall is the Roe v. wade Supreme Court decision, not the passage of a law by one party or the other.

Not being a member or a fan of either party, it’s not an issue with me.

  74. Waldo Says:

Brian, Even the Extreme Court has stated they “think” they made a mistake!!! The mistake has killed thousands upon thousands of Babies. It is apparent you have no conscience, no morals, but rather a blind vision of life and must certainly be a liberal. Rather a disgusting outline of your Brian of the North

  75. Suzanne Says:

    Randy#71,

These women are not killing babies, unless extreme medical circumstances emerge.

They are removing fertilized eggs, invisible to the naked eye, 80% of the time.

They are removing zygotes and embryos the most of the rest of the time. Rarely is an actual fetus involved.

In any event, once a fetus is sustainable medically without the forced use of the body of another citizen, the state has a legitimate interest in the fetus’ removal to medical care.

  76. Suzanne Says:

Waldo#74, It did not cause abortions.

Abortions would have taken place anyway, as they always have; there are ancient Egyptian writings outlining how to perform one.

Roe v. Wade just reduced the number of dead women resulting from abortion.

A lot of those women have other children at home – poverty is the #1 reason women seek abortion – who are left motherless when a woman dies of a botched private abortion.

  77. Gus Says:

In Brian’s case I would have supported his abortion.

  78. Jesse Says:

    Gus#77, and I still do.

  79. Brian Says:

Jesse#78, That was unkind, and makes me sad.

  80. Alycedale Says:

Republicans don’t seem to understand the whole concept of “Rights.” Look up UNALIENABLE. The state of a thing or right which cannot be sold.

Or you can just click this link. http://unalienable.com/unalien.htm

No legislature passes a law to give you a right. You have the right even when a legislature tries to take it away.

It is the business of courts to preserve pre-existing rights. Most republicans just don’t seem to understand the whole concept of “rights.”

  81. Eddie Says:

Brian#79, Don’t worry about it Brian. They have opted out of being part of any meaningful discussion.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Stress Relief

Progressive muscle relaxation can be a very effective stress relief technique once you’ve mastered it. It involves tensing individual muscle groups and then relaxing them to create awareness of tension and relaxation.

It progresses through all the major muscle groups, from head to toe, and eventually leads to total muscle relaxation.

Regular practice of progressive muscle relaxation can help you get more in tune with your mind and body so that you can immediately begin to counteract the first signs of stress.

Relax your body, and you can relax your mind! In combination with other stress relief techniques such as deep breathing, meditation and mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation can help life the weight of the world off your shoulders!

    Preparing for Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Loosen your clothing, take off your shoes, and get comfortable.

If you can lie down and feel comfortable doing that go ahead and lie down. If you must sit up, find a comfortable position to sit in.

Take a few minutes to relax, breathing in and out in slow, deep breaths.

It takes discipline but give yourself the latitude to eliminate all other thoughts and concerns for this time you have allotted to relax yourself.

Once you are fully concentrated on the feelings of your body and the present, you are ready to begin!

How To Perform Progressive Muscle Relaxation

When you’re ready to start, shift your attention to your right foot. Think about how your foot feels, allow your mind to wander through the feelings in your foot and focus on those feelings.

Slowly tense the muscles in your right foot, squeezing as tightly as you can. Hold for a count of 10.

Relax your right foot. Focus on the tension flowing away, imagine all that stress evaporating! Concentrate on how relaxed your foot feels as it becomes limp and loose.

Stay in this relaxed state for a moment, breathing deeply and slowly. Enjoy the feeling!

When you’re ready, shift your attention to your left foot. Follow the same sequence of muscle tension and release.

Move slowly up through your body, contracting and relaxing the muscle groups as you go.

If some muscles stubbornly remain tense, tighten and relax that specific muscle three or four times.

It may take some practice at first, but try not to tense muscles other than those intended.

Tips on the Various Muscle Groups

Forehead—Push your eyebrows to your hairline to work the forehead. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your forehead.

Eyes—Close your eyes as tightly as you can for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness around your eye sockets.

Nose—Wiggle it back and forth, up and down. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your nose.

Lips, cheeks, and jaw—Draw the centers of your mouth back and grimace for five seconds. Push your lips into a pout. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your face.

Hands—Extend your arms in front of you. Clench your fists tightly for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your hands.

Forearms—Extend your arms out against an invisible wall and push forward with your hands for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your forearms.

Upper arms—Bend your elbows. Tense your biceps for five seconds. Relax. Feel the tension leave your upper arms.

Shoulders—Shrug your shoulders up to your ears for five seconds. Circle your shoulders down into a relaxed position. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your shoulders.

Back—Arch your back off the floor for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your back.

Stomach—Tighten your stomach muscles for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your stomach.

Hips and buttocks—Tighten your hip and buttock muscles for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your hips and buttocks.

Thighs—Tighten your thigh muscles by pressing your legs together as tightly as you can for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your thighs.

NOTE: Before practicing progressive muscle relaxation, consult with your doctor if you have a history of muscle spasms, back problems, or other serious injuries that may be aggravated by tensing muscles.

  83. Julia Says:

The Supreme Court just struck down a law that would have decimated Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose.

Make no mistake, this is a major, major victory for reproductive choice.

But now that anti-choice forces have lost in court, they’re going to try even harder to win at the ballot box.

Get out and vote. Put in the candidates that will act to preserve a woman’s right to make her own choice.

  84. Thomas Says:

You damn right we are going to go to the polls. We are going to stop this baby killing one way or another.

  85. Move On member Says:

House Democrats—led by civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis—were unwilling to engage in business as usual until the House voted on gun violence prevention measures, including a bill to mandate universal background checks on all gun sales, which the vast majority of Americans support.

But House Speaker Paul Ryan and the GOP leadership flat out refused to debate or vote on any gun violence prevention legislation. Calling Democrats’ bold action to save American lives a “stunt,” Rep. Ryan formally adjourned the House.1

Yet, as they brought their protest to an end and headed home for recess, House Democrats vowed to return to Washington, D.C. and resume the fight. We have to make sure they know we have their backs—and that we’re pushing them to go even further.

As Democrats have said, now is the time for real action on gun violence. And we say: Now is also the time for an assault weapons ban to keep the kinds of weapons used in the mass killings in Orlando, San Bernardino, Aurora, and Sandy Hook off of our streets.

  86. Chris Says:

Republicans have NO IDEA how to stop their toxic nominee from wrecking their Senate majority. So they’re enlisting the ever-popular George W. Bush to back up their candidates! Talk about desperate!

    - And Mitch McConnell is totally lost. On Sunday, he wouldn’t even call Trump qualified to be president — but he’s still voting for him!

  87. Karen Says:

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of products made in China. That is another reason we need to get to the polls and vote the bought and paid for bastards out.

How many times do you and I have to experience this ARRIVED BROKEN. I GUESS THE CHINESE DONT HAVE A WORD IN THEIR LANGUAGE FOR QUALITY. RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX ONE OF THE PLASTIC PIECES HAD A MSSIVE CRACK IN IT.

or have to read it when we check Customer Reviews concerning a product from China before we decide to vote out the party responsible for allowing corporations to profit from outsourcing American jobs?

  88. Kenneth Says:

I wonder where Howie has gone. I guess he got tired of this earth and left with one of his many alien friends.

  89. Zen Lill Says:

Henry, I thought you were in So Ca? Anyway, hope you had fun in SF I’m chillin’ here in a bungalow by the beach in the South Bay.

Irene, I’ve got to get to Jakarta! I’ve heard great things about it.

I’m beginning to wonder if trump and the clintons are in bed with each other, she’s in for Potus that seems fairly clear at this point, his own fellow gop members aren’t for him being elected at all and he could call in some favors with hil/bill in office…just sayin’ it’s not that much of a stretch that hil will get this, esp since trump keeps flapping his jaws…oozing patheticness and vitriol few truly want from their ‘leader of the free world’ …

I’m pro-mind my own business, wtf should a woman require any input from any man to handle her life and body, it’s between her, her doctor and her man (if he’s included in the process at all, most men are for abortion in theory, I’ve yet to see a man fight for the rights to be mr mom to an unborn child) so until men have vaginas (thus becoming women) they should stay out of the conversation. Period.

    Off the soapbox…luv, Zen Lill

  90. Nelson Says:

Zen Lill, I have to agree with you on this one. Until a man has a vagina, he should stay out of it.

  91. Stuart Says:

Wow!, Zen Lill, I never thought of that. Trump being in bed with the Clintons. Wouldn’t that be a Hoot!

  92. Henry Says:

Zen Lill I’m back in Santa Barbara. How long will you be in or around the South Bay area?

  93. Zen Lill Says:

Stuart, power players know how to play…and look at how rabid repubs and dems are with each other in conversation (even on a blog), if they keep everyone focused on that arguing they get to make it look orchestrated by you, how clever really…
