Cultivate Love

Posted by Michelle Moquin on January 14th, 2009

Hello again Carmen:  Happy that you got in to be able to say more. I first have to say how grateful I am that I started my blog a year and a half ago. However it is somewhat bittersweet. I love the fact that I am able to converse with so many people around the world and yet I am exposed to so much more than I would be just watching the news. Don’t get me wrong though, Information is power and the more information, the more knowledge, that I have at my fingertips…the more atrocities that I am exposed to, the more I know I/we have to do more for this planet, especially the women.

Your story is different and yet the outcome is the same. Women are subjected to the brutalities of men on a daily basis. I really was living in a bubble when it came to knowing about my sisters around the world.  Yes, I knew that life for many women was a hard life but I had no idea just how difficult it was and that most of their daily struggles and ‘challenges’ (put very mildly) was due to the simple fact that they were not supported or treated equally by the men that supposedly loved them.

On my way to work yesterday I tuned into NPR and caught Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi in some sort of ‘disgussion’.  My new word because what they were discussing was absolutely disgusting. Pictures were involved but being on the radio I was happy that I did not have to view them. The descriptions were enough for me to want to rip someone’s eyes out. In fact, one young girls did have her eye gauged out. Why? Because she was too pretty. I don’t need to go into more. My point being that…and I will steal Hillary’s words because they were very on point: ‘This isn’t custom. This isn’t culture. This is criminal.’  How true of a statement.  I wish that I could’ve heard the rest of the ‘disgussion’, even though the subject was not pleasant whatsoever, it needs to be talked about and action needs to happen.  Not tomorrow, but today, NOW.

And the more that I hear the stories of so many women and how they would gladly hand over their men to Madaline, it saddens me. Because women are not innately about hate and vengeance; they are about love and care. Their true nature has been buried deep and if their men only knew what they were missing…if they only knew how to cultivate their relationships, love and care for the women in their lives, they would be given the world and treated like kings by their women. And their women would relish in their natural spirit.

The devotion of women cannot be penetrated when she is loved and supported and protected.  I know this because I am this way. I am a one man woman and when I feel protected and loved and cherished, respected, supported and valued….I am his forever. And in return, he gets the best of me; my innate love is limitless. It is not, ‘If you are this way, I will be this way.’ No, it is not conditional.  It is more environmental…when I have a solid foundation, or rich soil, my love and care grows endlessly. Women don’t need the perfect environment. Just like a flower…it will grow naturally, even planted in contaminated soil and surrounded by weeds. But give it a little water, enrich its soil, nurture it…and it will blossom into something so abundant and beautiful, one would be crazy not to care for it forever, for the love and joy one would receive in return. A woman’s love if experienced in full blossom is addictive, intoxicating, and contagious….all in a good way. A woman’s love can change the world if cultivated.

I know I may sound dramatic or maybe it is because I am just such a romantic and I believe so deeply in the power of love. It seems so simple. If only men could see how stupid they are for abusing women physically and trying to keep a woman powerless and dumb…intellectually and emotionally stunted. They are so missing out in their lives.

And as you mentioned Zen Lill ‘Intellectual foreplay’. Yes, that is so desired and required.  Pure animal sex is good but short lived. One wants to be able to have an intellectual conversation before and after. I was watching ‘Brothers and Sisters’ – the television show the other night, and they had a perfect example of ‘intellectual foreplay’. The two involved both got so turned on by their conversation, that had nothing to do with sex, that within minutes, the office door was locked and they were locked in each other’s arms. Loved it! Women want this and I think men do too, but are intimidated by it….afraid that their woman might be smarter than they are…making them look bad. So what? Get over it.  I have more to say but I am already a bit off subject. I look forward to your two.

Anyway, I got a little carried away in the moment Carmen. I did not mean to run in that direction but evidently I felt the need.  I will research South America and since requested by Alita, I will make Mexico a priority.

Bitches Rock:  Love the name! I am sure that if Madaline is reading this she will take your request seriously. As far as becoming a GirlZ…time will tell. LOL at the ‘spading’ line!

Carlos: As I said awhile back…“Man’s deep-rooted instinct to survive, and the means that he has chosen, will be to his demise.”  So be accountable for your actions…it is YOU who is responsible for the outcome of your future.

Oh…just caught your last comment. Haha!! A little frightened are we? Think about all of the women out there who are frightened on a daily basis because of the things their men do to them. See what it is like for one moment in your life. Are you still ready to whip a bitche’s ass or have you a change of mind? Where’s your bark now? A bit of an attitude adjustment when you know that some bitch could whip your ass eh?  No Maddie will not touch you but I do hope this little lesson makes you think. But my guess is, it won’t. Oh…if it was that easy….

Got to run.

Gratefully your blog host,

The Best Time to Do Everything

    Michael Kaplan

Several years ago, I bought a house in early summer. Later, I found out that was the worst time to buy, when prices were highest and bidding was fierce.

So I began to wonder how much more energy, enjoyment, money and good health I could derive from my life if my timing were more effective. I conducted almost 200 interviews with experts in various fields to determine the best time to do everything.
    HEALTH
Undergo surgery. The best time is midmorning, after the doctor has done one or two procedures. Performing surgery is like any motor task — surgeons need to warm up a bit before they can perform at their peak. Late afternoon is too late — the doctor may be tired.
Fill a pharmacy prescription. Midmonth. Drugstores are busiest at the beginning and end of each month, when welfare and Social Security checks hit people’s mailboxes. Pharmacy-related medication errors are highest then.
Go to an emergency room. Between 8 am and noon on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, when the emergency room is least crowded. Also, waiting times can vary dramatically from ER to ER. If your emergency is not life-threatening, take a few minutes to call area hospitals to see which ER is the least crowded.
Get a mammogram. Late morning or early afternoon during the week after a woman has started menstruating. This is when breasts tend to be the least sensitive.
Cheat on your diet. Within a few hours after exercising. That’s when your body processes carbohydrates and cholesterol most efficiently.
Get pregnant again. No sooner than 18 months after delivering your previous child. Studies indicate a higher instance of premature deliveries among women who don’t wait at least 18 months.
    WAIT IN LINE AT THE…
Department of Motor Vehicles. Between 10 am and noon, after the morning rush, in the middle of the week during the fall or winter.
Bank. Midweek — 30 minutes after the doors open.
Passport agency. Early on a fall morning. Most people travel in the summer and don’t apply for passports after that.
    BUY…
Groceries. Between 9:30 am and 2 pm on Tuesday or Wednesday. Crowds are minimal, the shelves are recently stocked, and most department managers are on duty and can answer questions.
Fresh fish. Tuesday and Friday afternoons are when you’ll have the best and freshest selection because fish purveyors get shipments for the week on Tuesday morning and for the weekend on Friday morning.
Caviar. October and May, when fresh catches of Beluga, Sevruga and Osetra make their way to retailers and caviar has the cleanest, freshest taste.
Jewelry. July and August. Those months have no gift-giving holidays and business is slowest, so you’re more likely to find sales and/or negotiate a good deal.
Shoes. In the afternoon. Wait until you’ve been walking around for a while and your feet have swelled a bit.
Home accessories. May, October and just before Christmas. These are the times when manufacturers typically clear out their inventories.
    EXERCISE
Get a cardiovascular workout. In the morning, before you eat breakfast. Exercise requires a considerable amount of blood flow to the tissues — you don’t want too much blood diverted for digestion. Also, early workouts boost your metabolism for the entire day. Note: Weight training can be done at any time of day with no adverse consequences.
Bowl a perfect game. Early evening, just before the bowling leagues take over the alleys. On the days of league games (check with the bowling alley), lanes are oiled, creating more forgiving surfaces that keep your ball centered.
Play basketball or tennis. Between 4 pm and 6 pm. Hand-eye coordination is highest then because your core body temperature is high, speeding up the conduction of nerve impulses.
    WORK
Ask for a raise. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in the early morning. The idea is to get your boss during a lull in the work schedule so he/she can concentrate exclusively on you.
Work late. Tuesday between 6 pm and 9 pm. People are least productive on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesday is ideal because if you need to spend a second night in the office that week, you can do it on Thursday and have a good night’s rest between the two overtime sessions.
Look for a job. August and December. New hires often are made just before the start of the new fiscal year, which usually begins in September or January.
    MORE
Hire a contractor to renovate your home. January. That’s when business is slowest and contractors are available and most willing to negotiate.
Be photographed. Noon. It takes several hours for morning puffiness from sleeping to subside. If you wait until late afternoon, tiredness begins to show in your eyes and on your face.
Retain information. It depends on your age and your body’s individual circadian rhythms. Earlier is better as you age. For people age 60 and older, the optimal time to learn and remember is 9 am. College students absorb information best between 4 pm and 5 pm.
Catch a flight that leaves on time. In the lag period right after the first big wave of flights in the morning. This varies depending on location, so check with your local airport or airline. Also, late-night departures are more frequently on time because of less congestion on the runways.
Serve jury duty. There are two kinds of people — those who want to get put on trials and those who don’t. If you fall into the latter category, try to postpone serving until the summer or around Christmas or Thanksgiving. Those are slow times for trials because judges and lawyers typically take days off.
If you want to serve, the first week of January is busy due to the slowdown during the Christmas holidays. Early fall is busy as well. Also, Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the year are the busiest days of the week for new trials.

  2. Zen Lill Says:

Mischa, this could not be more on point if you’d tried, see why I say the things I do about you? I tried to explain this to a few people, which is why I slid into evasive answer mode. When asked what went ‘wrong’ w/C (by people ballsy enough to ask, now I just say ‘not going into it’) If you can’t figure out what I mean by a flower just needs some water and some sun, not much really…then FRO, I have no time to explain further, its simple and outlined above. May I lift a line or two?? This may need to go on my blog as well…along w/women avoiding attacks entry, waiting till next week when I’m in Nashville doing that fashion show/training thang, to answer your email q, selling season begins Jan 31 for me, let you know how it works, busy dialing for $’s and that’s going well, so I’m taking a break now obviously :

Now who do we write to or where shall we organize a protest re: treatment of our global sisters?? I’m ready, willing and able, would love to share in a ‘Mischa’s biagges (bitches in Italian) rock DC’ and DEMAND better conditions for women. See, this is where me being a hot head sometimes works very well. And I think that we all get caught up in our own lives, there will always be an excuse to not do, say anything and just let these massive injustices roll on by for other women (wtf – is it an ‘after all it isn’t me?’ especially us Western women, easy to just keep on keeping on…) and so my busy working commander, blog your thoughts on that and I assure you I will be by your side on the issue, I’m disgusted.

Carlos, your words… ‘I will whip a bitch’s ass who thinks she can touch my balls without my permission.’ all I said was with Maddie on the loose and with her ready to rid the world of all men under 10 yrs old (with a few exceptions) you may want to watch your back. Enough said there.

Tune into one last day of myths/truths and then I moving on with other topics…

    Luv, Zen Lill

  3. Alita Says:

    Michelle
Thank you for answering my request. I have been waiting to hear from you. If I can be of any help please email me or address me on your blog. I live in San Cristobal de las Casas. It has been very violent here because of the drug, racial, and governmental wars that spring up from time to time. I speak 3 languages because of my travels to Belize and Guatemala. I have a job that requires me to work with french and english speaking officials.

I am not using my real name for fear or reprisals. This is a very dangerous place to live if the people in power don’t like you. Everybody is into smuggling one thing or another. The three governments are so corrupt that the citizens have no place to look for justice. We just pay whoever is in charge to live in relative peace.

    Alita

  4. Troy Says:

    Anonz

I just read your reply to your lady yesterday. Was that really Bin laden? Do you think he will attack Obama’s watch. President Bush did not have an attack on his watch so he can hold Obama’s feet to the fire if something happens on his because he relaxed the safeguards that President Bush has in place.

I read a little of your lady’s blog also. it was my first time there. She’s pretty deep. How did you meet her? And does she have a sister?

    Troy

  5. Zen Lill Says:

Troy, thanks for alerting me to an Anonz comment, we were writing at about the same time and I was releasing my own blog at the same time, I’m a serious multi-tasker : ) so I didn’t catch it on yesterday’s post. Thanks for the ‘deep’ compliment. I’ll let Anonz respond to your other q’s about the lady since you addressed him.

Sweet pea, you can write or post an already existing poem for me anytime. I’m glad you liked the intergalactic prose. I LOVE this word – inteslextive – introspectively using sexual connotations to provoke intellectual dialogue on understanding the intentions of the meanings of “I said, she said” between the sexes. I’ll have to figure out a way to use it, or maybe I’ll just stick with doing it…?

I’m as curious as Troy about the Bin Laden q so whenever you want to share info, please do tell…

Back to fixing my printer, is there such a thing as Zen swearing?! Maybe I’ll just fire it out the window : )

    Luv, Zen Lill

  6. dnsr! Says:

Thanks so much for posting that beautiful Peter Gabriel cover the other day. The lyrics are so right on and relevant even to your topic du jour, eh? I enjoyed it so much i’m making it a part of my repetoire – i suppose you guys will actually hear my version someday. Flowers, water, i love to cultivate the secret garden in all ways under the sun. Bnmv! and i will be checking in on the situation in Sri Lanka before the next full moon and will report back to you with our findings, and hopefully, we’ll see you tomorrow night in sultry SF!

Let it pass, let it go, let it leave
from the deepest place i grieve

  7. Lorri Says:

    Michelle,
My cousin says he took a picture of the ufo that smashed into the vanes. I am trying to get him to write in to your blog. I keep keying this message in, hope it makes it this time.
