Who Keeps Us Happier, Healthier, and Fitter? 🐾
Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 6th, 2016
Happy Saturday, Everyone!
Rico: Thanks for your post. I respect Obama’s decision. If only more men in politics, corps, etc., would take a stance against other countries who don’t respect their women and treat them as equal. Hint: The countries who supply us with our oil – you know who they are. Men would stop doing the sick things they do to their women if enough men said “enough,” and backed it with action.
I’m taking the day off from politics. (And perhaps the weekend…we’ll see.)
I haven’t written about my four-legged furry friends in awhile. Today’s the day.
From Men’s Journal:
The Science Behind How Dogs Make Us Happier, Healthier, and Fitter
The health benefits of owning a pup go far beyond extra exercise. New research shows canines help ward off disease, lower stress levels, and even detect cancer. Here’s a breakdown of how your dog is saving your life.
SPECIAL FEATURE: Why Owning a Dog Adds Years to Your Life
The Eyebrows
Dogs may use facial expressions — raising their eyebrows to make their eyes look bigger — to elicit affection and deepen the bond with their owner.
The Tongue
Researchers discovered a protein in dog saliva that may help human cuts heal twice as fast. So go ahead and let your pup lick your wounds.
ALSO: A Navy SEAL’s 5 Tips to Train Your Dog
The Nose
A dog’s sense of smell is up to 100,000 times more accurate than ours. Canines are being trained to detect the scents of early-onset diseases in humans.
The Eyes
“Imagine looking at your dog and he looks back at you — in about 30 seconds, oxytocin courses through your body,” says psychologist Chris Blazina. This hormone, associated with feelings of trust and bonding, could increase by as much as 300 percent, research suggests.
The Fur
Pet and play with a dog, and your brain soon releases the feel-good endorphins serotonin and prolactin. After 15 minutes, your levels of the stress-hormone cortisol decrease significantly.
The Paws
Service dogs use their paws to dial 911 for a diabetic owner with dangerously low blood sugar or to turn on lights for PTSD sufferers. Dogs also use their paws to comfort us when we’re anxious, similar to giving us a soothing pat on the back.
The Legs
Owning a dog means you’ll walk an average of five hours per week (non-owners log fewer than three). Compared with cat owners, you’ll also be leaner, have a stronger heart, and live longer.
❤️🐾❤️
Readers: My little Lucy girl means the world to me. The love I feel for her and her for me is just as precious as you can imagine. Whenever I’m stressed a few minutes playing with my girl is all I need. Her mischievous looks keeps the oxytocin a flowin’ when our eyes connect, and the excitement she shows me when I walk into the house gives me wonderful dose of endorphins that elevate my mood no matter how I’m feeling.
Does she add to my life? Oh yeah…a steady stream of happiness on a daily basis. I am joyously grateful.
Do you have a little love in your life?

Yes, Michelle, I have a little love in my life, I wish it was bigger but he’s a good man even if his penis is so inadequate.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:09 am
I hate to extend this discussion to today’s blog but I have to say to Ruth.AF#33August 6th, 2016 at 8:25 am
Christ, you wanna try that in English, now, Sparky?
August 6th, 2016 at 9:10 am
That was a quick switch Michelle, I love animals. I have a cat myself, she acts funky sometimes, but I know she loves me.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:12 am
Collins#2, This just in, a republican that complains about immigrants not knowing English doesn’t understand his own language. More at 11.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:15 am
I’m up, it’s Saturday and I feel so good. So I will continue here for a few more minutes.
Collins#2, What Ruth.AF#33August 6th, 2016 at 8:25 am said was pretty easy for a typical adult to understand.
It’s not the other person’s fault that you are stupid, nor do they owe it to you to write down to your level.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:16 am
The Church convicted physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei on the
charge of heresy by insisting that the Earth revolves around the Sun,
rather than, as per Church teaching, that the Earth was the immovable
center of the universe with the Sun revolving around the Earth.
The Church forced Galileo to spend the remainder of his life into the 16th century under house arrest. Hey, Catholic Church, how did that “teaching” work out for you?
August 6th, 2016 at 9:20 am
Warren#6, don’t be so hard on the catholic church. Hey, they apologized for that Galileo cruelty.
And it only took 600 years.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:23 am
James#45 Says:
August 6th, 2016 at 9:01 am
This is why I am hooked on this blog. Any subject can spark incredible discourse!
Brilliant women operate here at the peril of men who dare challenge them with pithy bullshit.
A few days ago it was Zen Lill who held school. Today the beat down Alycedale has administered is just awesome to behold.
——————————–
You think so James, do you. Women have a place in society and the Bible has defined that place.
I direct this to you Alycedale: People have their choices, Christ himself said anyone can choose to become a eunuch. The question is what motivates you – is it the need to develop your mind and your personality to get closer to God, or just indulging the base urges of the body?
August 6th, 2016 at 9:24 am
Okay PHD Brad, I’ll play. Define “base urges” in the context of a trans person.
Show your work.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:30 am
I would say there is a difference between a very young person being able to transition as opposed to an older person who might just see this as a fad or a cry for attention. When I say ‘base urges’ I am condemning ‘hook up culture’ where sex is seen as an economic transaction that creates babies. Real love transcends the propagation of genes or a quid-quo-pro exchange.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:31 am
I envision a spanking coming. But it’s your butt, Brad,PHD.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:31 am
And what the hell does “hook up culture” have to do with being trans?
The fact that you’d even mentally connect the two says something about you, and let’s just say it’s not flattering
August 6th, 2016 at 9:32 am
Alycedale#12, We can psychoanalyze each other all day, but I’m not your enemy here.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:34 am
I called my friends and told them we could have a serious beat down of other know-it-all man, if he lasts.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:34 am
Brad,PHD#13, Stop avoiding the question.
What the hell does “hook up culture” have to do with being trans?
Show your work.
I’ll decide who my enemy is, thanks, but I don’t need your help determining that.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:36 am
Alycedale Brad, PHD is talking about men ingesting each other’s semen, urine, feces and smegma is less than flattering, too, don’t you think? Yeah, THINK.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:38 am
Brad, PHD#10, Actual evidence shows that there really is little if any difference between an early transitioner and a late one, aside from acceptance and the courage to come out as trans and move forward. I didn’t start transition until I was 36, but I knew I was trans since I was 6-7!
August 6th, 2016 at 9:39 am
Collins#16, what does that have to do with being trans?
August 6th, 2016 at 9:40 am
Christine#17, Yup I’m not trying to shame or judge anyone, because shaming and judging and forcing people into molds isn’t really God’s way. It is good that trans people are finally receiving acceptance, but there is reason to be concerned about such a challenge and a change being made ‘cheap’ (IE people jumping back and forth between genders at a whim). How can anyone be a good parent, teacher, or partner without a firm hold on their gender and identity?
August 6th, 2016 at 9:40 am
Alycedale#18, It has nothing to do with being a trans. That’s his fetish.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:42 am
Brad,PHD#19, You claim “Yup I’m not trying to shame or judge anyone…” but you just spent the last several posts delineating between trans people based on the age of their transition and equating being trans with “hook up culture”, which you still haven’t explained.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:47 am
You sure are trying to make this an antagonistic conversation! Let me try to rephrase my point: The Pope and other Christian leaders should be emphasizing fidelity and devotion as Godly behaviors, rather than policing people’s dress and genitals. However it is also important for an individual to practice self control once they are comfortable with their body – monogamy is a cornerstone of society.
You may not believe that, but you also might not accept the idea of individuals transitioning out of the human condition following the instructions of Ti & Do.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:50 am
Brad, PHD#22, You keep avoiding the fact that you got caught out equating being trans with “hook up culture”, which you still haven’t explained.
Monogamy isn’t relevant to any discussion about being trans because there’s nothing about being trans that speaks to whether they are monogamous or not.
The fact that all you can think about is SEX ACTS, SEX ACTS, SEX ACTS on a subject that has nothing to do with sex acts speaks loads about you.
So again, explain yourself. Why do you equate trans people with polygamy? Why do you equate trans people with “hook-up culture?”
Stop avoiding the question.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:51 am
It is obvious the Pope knows little about transgenderism. We didn’t chose our gender. we used today’s technology to brin gour bodies and souls together as one. No one choses their gender they complete it.And it is no more a sin to be a trans person than it is tto be male or female. We fall inbetween.
August 6th, 2016 at 9:57 am
Alycedale#23, I restated my point as clearly as I could but you seem determined to take offense and see personal attacks where there are none. If you can’t see the connection betwen personal identity, adult relationships and ‘good faith’/fidelity I don’t have anything else to say.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:01 am
Brad,PHD#25, I’m not asking you to restate your point. I’m asking you to explain what sex acts have to do with being trans.
Your answer appears to be: ” If you can’t see the connection betwen personal identity, adult relationships and ‘good faith’/fidelity I don’t have anything else to say.”
So you’re telling me you can’t explain yourself. Thanks!
August 6th, 2016 at 10:02 am
Michael#24, Absolute pseudo-scientific BULLSH*T. You are either X or Y. End of story. PERIOD. Homosexuality is a SPIRITUAL malady, having a spiritual base.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:03 am
Alycedale#26, Sex acts are part of human identity and behavior. Part of that behavior is the choice to be monogamous or promiscuous. If you know a human being who this doesn’t apply to I would like to meet them.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:04 am
Brad,PHD#28, You’re still not explaining that.
Why do you think trans people are any less monogamous than you or anyone else?
Stop dodging.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:04 am
SMACK!
August 6th, 2016 at 10:05 am
Collins#27, Except for all the people that aren’t either one.
There are at least 6 different viable karyotype configurations you nunce.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:06 am
Alycedale#31, I didn’t say that, you have implied it. I said the Pope should be teaching and practicing love that transcends sex and gender and you decided I was attacking trans people. Everyone should aspire to fidelity and being a good human being, but maybe this is alien to you – it is for many in this individualist nihilist culture.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:07 am
Brad, PHD, PS: I don’t believe in monogamy. Monogamy is shit.
Deal with it.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:07 am
You are entitled to that opinion, but I hope you will consider how stable partnerships are a key part of civilization. This isn’t just an opinion, it is borne out by genetic/archaeological evidence as well as instructions provided by the Kingdom of Heaven.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:15 am
Brad, PHD#34, You have an imaginary friend. That’s precious.
I was married for a few years, you idiot. and unlike most of you, I’ll never get a divorce. I poisoned the cheating son-of-a-bastard. Created him, threw his ashes into the river and cried unconsolablely, if that’s a word. Now I have a cat and it’s a female.
Often I wish I had kept his big dick. It was his only real asset. The taxidermist I proposed the idea to, wouldn’t consider it.
I digress, though, your turn.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:16 am
Was that “Created” a freudian? I meant cremated, of course.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:19 am
My first thought was to say marriage is a good thing and I am happy for you two. Then I read the finish.
From the words of Jesus it falls short of the ideal but we’re all imperfect vessels of Holy Spirit. I may be wrong but you seem to be in a place where in another life you’ll be able to get a little closer. Good luck.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:19 am
Brad,PHD#37, I don’t really care about your messiah-on-a-stick.
He’s a figment of your imagination, like the rest of that iron-age jewish fanfic.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:21 am
Alycedale#38, No the mind of the Next Level was incarnate on Earth quite recently. You may have heard of ‘Heaven’s Gate’.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:23 am
Brad,PHD? #39, You need an idiot. “You may have heard of ‘Heaven’s Gate’.” Yes I have.
I’m assuming they ran out of kool-aid before they got around to you, otherwise you’d be decomposing instead of here babbling nonsense at me and pretending you’re enlightened.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:25 am
If this continues Brad you have to be a masochist. Who else would enjoy the kind of Spanking you’re getting.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:26 am
Alycedale#40, That is your opinion. I think the message they died for is worth listening to. But if it isn’t for you of course it doesn’t ‘make sense’.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:26 am
Brad, PHD, They really should have provided enough Kool-Aid for you as well.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:27 am
Alycedale#43, What kind words. A good read is ‘Conspiracy against the human race’ by Thomas Ligotti.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:29 am
Brad,PHD#44, I’m not interested in your ridiculous suicide cult. And considering there are some of you left, they weren’t even successful at that.
Suicide is failure. Mass suicide is mass failure. The fact that Heaven’s Gate didn’t get all of their cultists means they actually managed to fail at failing. That’s pathetic.
I’d say kill yourself, but if you had the stones you would have done it already.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:31 am
Alycedale#45, There is a Donald Trump in all our minds – he must be Destroyed.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:31 am
Brad, PHD, I’m not interested in your ridiculous orange men, either.
The committee in my head consists entirely of cats. I had everyone else dragged into the street and shot. There is no Trump there.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:32 am
Alycedale#47, You just like to attack people.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:33 am
Brad, PHD, I attack idiots, and this thread has provided no shortage of them – you, for example.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:36 am
Alycedale#49, You’re so superior – you’re somebody, I’m nobody – enjoy it.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:37 am
Brad, PHD#50, It’s cute that you think so, but I don’t care.
PS: It’s hard not to be superior when you insist on setting the bar so low.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:44 am
Alycedale#51, I am done with trying to make sense to you. You implied that I said that I said that trans people are less monogamous than other people.
You also infer that I am a person who wants to see fewer broken hearts and families, not more. For such an enlightened queer person/ally you sure seem quick to make ugly psychological analyses, you wouldn’t appreciate if I did that to you.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:50 am
Okay Brad, PHD#52, we’re done. You started this discussion ranting about monogamy and hookup culture on a thread that had to do with trans people, and you wonder why someone infers that you connect the two?
As for me not appreciating it if you were to make ugly psychological analyses about me, no I wouldn’t like it, but that’s because you are so terrible at it.
August 6th, 2016 at 10:55 am
Alycedale#53, I held my fire until your thread ended with Brad, the wanna be PHD. I agree with you 100%. To say that gender is a choice is a gross misstatement of current biological, medical and sociological understanding of the topic.
If you’re going to invoke nature, it behooves you to understand human sex chromosomes, the variety of viable combinations of X and Y in humans, how chromosomes do and don’t determine primary and secondary sex characteristics (phenotypical expression), and the differences and interrelationships between gender assignment, gender role, gender identity, gender expression, and gender performance.
The more you actually know about the topic, the less prone you are to draw bold, binary lines of division..
August 6th, 2016 at 11:03 am
Thank you for that much needed spanking Alycedale. The biggest problem with some disgusting little hypocrites is that they only want to accept science when it suits them.
If they do not want to accept the science for homo and transsexuality then why do these hypocrites use computers? Why do they pollute the world with cars? Why do they watch porn on their pcs? Why do they lead a life filled with modern tech and materialistic lust?
I have no respect for hypocrites! Its like I’ve heard so many fake religious people judging homosexuals yet they are always looking to buy new cars and cellphones and ipads. So it’s ok to judge homosexuals but everyone conveniently forgets about their own disgusting lust.
And what about churches allowing divorces? No one ever talks about divorces anymore despite it being adultery. So yeah let the haters hate, they are a bunch of hypocrites who think they’re perfect.
I actually read that in north Carolina where some of the biggest opposition to the whole issue of transgender bathrooms occurred, that state also has the most users in heterosexual pornography,
LOL! How disgusting.
August 6th, 2016 at 11:04 am
Alycedale. This Latina thinks you are AWESOME!
August 6th, 2016 at 11:06 am
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly promised to penalize and deport “illegal immigrants” living in the United States — but he may very well be married to one.
August 6th, 2016 at 1:46 pm
Dang look at what happens when I’m busy for a few days.
Alycedale, I’m amazed you kept responding to such utter nonsense but good on you bc … this nonsense needs to be addressed.
Brad (no phd unless it’s in underwater basketweaving) I can cite many unbelievable statements but #19 ‘i.e. jumping back and forth between genders at a whim’ what the MoFo-ing hell?! Are you drunk??
#22 Monogamy as a cornerstone to society? That’s such indoctrinated BS…has no historical or biological context or back up in life or this convo,
at best some are serial monogamists,
I do not believe in monogamy, monogamish/poly-love is what really plays out in this world
(with a bunch of you phd’s insisting it’s cornerstone to keep your woman in place while you go do whatever for the most part, you bought into the usual GIGO religious dogma)
That’s not to say that the above notion condones ‘hook up culture’ but there is a huge difference and you toss words around like salad fixings, you’ve got to be kidding….
and still you have not answered Alycedale’s direct question: what the hell does hook up culture have to do with being trans.at.all???
Wow….this blog is the place to be, I agree, James, and Brad Phd<in getting spanked (and apparently liking it ; )
I know why your so confused though, bc your 'book' supplies conflicting info…
Jesus died for our sins – cited in 4 places in the bible
No man can die for the sins of another – cited in 4 other places in the same book…
that's just one statement, I can give you many more, and that's why you and all the men before you who wrote this stuff
feel free to pull your moral high ground shizz here, and nope not having what your serving up bc it stinks to 'high heaven',
go do your science research on the topic and come back informed.
Or … not … but stop using PHD we know you don't have one
It's been a pleasure attending the SpankFest, well done AD.
Luv, Zen Lill
August 6th, 2016 at 1:50 pm
and I have two cutie pupsters here stateside, Ernesto & Harold, Ernie is my soul mate especially after his massages…! <3 these precious animals : )
August 6th, 2016 at 7:37 pm
Looks like Zen Lill wants some of your tender ass, Brad with the PHD. OOOUU, SMACK goes that ass.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:19 am
A bit saucy were we yesterday. I agree with you Zen Lill, Well done Alycedale.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:20 am
Zen Lill I specialize in Massages. Would love to give you one.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:21 am
Thanks for the article about dogs Michelle. I have been trying to convince my father to allow my ailing mother to have one. He read this article and decided to give it a try.
You are a sweetheart.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:30 am
I have three cats and two dogs. They get along very well. The dogs, male and female Rottweilers; the cats a Maine Coon and two strays who knows what they are.
The Maine Coon and the two dogs grew up together. I acquired the two strays three years apart. They were kittens that were abandoned. My Maine Coon brought one of them home and my female Rottweiler brought the other home two years later. She was holding it in her mouth like it was one of her puppies.
They make a great family. They look out for each other and make my wife, three children and me very happy.
Great article.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:44 am
[…] Yes, Alycedale, it was a quick switch, and I’m switching again this morning. :) […]
August 8th, 2016 at 9:07 am
[…] Alycedale: I just read the repartee between you and the supposed doc today. Let me just say…I enjoyed it. […]
