What if Clinton was a man and Trump was a woman?
Posted by Michelle Moquin on August 5th, 2016
Good morning!
Readers: I thoroughly enjoyed reading the comments yesterday. What a hoot. This election and the events surrounding it are just like no other. We’ve got the LSOS Trump claiming he saw a “top secret” (Shhhh!!) video of 400 Mil in cash handed to Iran, and the questioning of Melania Trump’s legal U.S. citizenship. (Oohhhh!) How ironic if it turns out she is an illegal immigrant. (Oh, the gods must be quite entertained by all of this.)
The republicans are showing their true colors and are sticking with it.
We’ve got another LSOS Paul Ryan still supporting Trump. After all the negativity Trump has thrown his way about him et al…
It appears that neither insulting the family of a soldier who sacrificed his life serving the U.S. in Iraq, nor proposing a ban on Muslims from âterrorist countriesâ nor attacking the impartiality of a federal judge over his heritage are crossing the line for Ryan. ~ Excerpt from the Huff Po
And then there’s John McCain. Vets crashed his office demanding he dump Trump:
McCain, like nearly all GOP lawmakers, is endorsing Trump for president, despite the GOP nomineeâs comments disparaging women, Muslims, people with disabilities, immigrants and, most recently, the family of a Muslim American war hero who died in Iraq while protecting his troops. Trump isnât returning the favor â and he has even directly targeted the Arizona senator, mocking McCainâs status as a prisoner of war. ~ Excerpt from the Huff Po
Yes, the political environment is pretty interesting to say the least. So much for the republican’s trite sentiments of “country first.” If this is how they act with regards to “country first,” one can only imagine what would happen if they couldn’t care less about country.
Oh…wait…excuse me…we don’t have to imagine because it is in our face. We. See. It. Daily.
If Obama was even a smidgen like Trump and the other white privileged hypocritical LSOS’s…well…it goes without saying what would’ve happened.
Oh, the expression of rampant white privilege. It is quite shocking what one can get away with when one is of a certain color.
OK enough of that…Onto, today’s topic. I want to talk about sexism. Because in my opinion it’s showing up big time in this presidential race.
I’ve been saying how much more Clinton is scrutinized and held under the microscope more than any other man would be in this position. I discovered this write in my local newspaper and found it to be seriously right on, in a not so serious lighthearted way.
From the SF Chron:
Gender matters in the presidential election
If Donald Trump were a woman, her tweets would be seen as catty, gossipy, and more like something out of âMean Girls.â
As a sociology professor who has researched and taught about gender for many years, I know that gender matters. And that gender difference matters. Yet, it is the difference that gender makes in our lives that matters most. Nowhere is this more evident right now than in the current election.
If Hillary Clinton were a man with the political prowess she possesses, he would be seen as not just qualified but more likely overqualified.
If Donald Trump were a woman with his same lack of political experience and qualifications, she would be told to go back to wherever she came from, most likely the kitchen. And, she likely would not have made it this far.
If Clinton were a man, his rational authority, pragmatism, optimism and sober speeches would work in his favor and would be celebrated.
If Trump were a woman, her name-calling would indicate that she is ruled by her out-of-control, post-menopausal body, her tweets would be seen as catty, gossipy, and more like something out of âMean Girls,â and her condescending ways with marginalized others would be seen as exclusionary bitchiness.
If Clinton were a man, having been a senator and secretary of state would be a good thing and a sign of understanding complicated budgets.
If Trump were a woman, her history of bankruptcies would indicate that she is careless with money and that she went shopping one too many times.
If Clinton were a man, his speeches would be seen as strong and exuding confidence.
If Trump were a woman, her speeches would be regarded as shrieking, hysterical rants.
If Clinton were a man, his pantsuits might earn high marks.
If Trump were a woman, sheâd be told that she should hire a better hair colorist. And a speech coach to assist her with controlling her belittling facial expressions and hand gestures.
If Clinton were a man, heâd be regarded as monogamous and lovingly loyal, even in the face of a spouse who had previously cheated. He would be admired for staying with his wife through thick and thin.
If Trump were a woman, sheâd be labeled an immigrant-loving slut for her choices in whom to marry.
If Clinton were a man, weâd be apt to see his spouse as a magnetic public speaker who routinely and magically wins over a room.
And now we have the unique chance to have Clinton, an exceptionally accomplished woman, as our next president. That is, unless we let sexism get in our way.

Wonderful article Michelle.

Trump finally admits that he was wrong about the Iran money video. But it is even better when you don’t lie daily, which trump does.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:22 am
He completely made that whole story up (lied) to make himself seem more important? Actually, you could see it on his face, fabricating the story as he went along, enhancing the details to make it seem more realistic, adding additional details with each new version. This was a very troubling problem I faced while teaching…THIRD GRADERS!
August 5th, 2016 at 11:22 am
Donna#2, It’s good to recognize your mistake (well after your campaign said it was a mistake) but it would be too late to call the missiles back.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:24 am
A political commentator this morning suggested Trump was confusing the current situation with the Iran-Contra Scandal from the 1980s. In that one, Iran paid for U.S. weapons with the proceeds going directly to the Contra rebels in Nicaragua.
They were paid by Reagan. You know the big hero of the republican party.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:25 am
Dear Trump Supporters: here is your profoundly unhinged would-be President making crap up (again) and fabricating evidence where there was none. And you want HIM to hold the nuclear codes?
You want HIM to have the authority to launch missiles? And you think HE will keep America safer as he intentionally invents war-mongering “evidence” against other nations, religions, and even against other Americans? Wow….and this is OK with you?
August 5th, 2016 at 11:26 am
Why on Earth did CNN try to make the story here “is this a oivot for the Trump campaign?” Rather that WTF IS TRUMP DOING TALKING SUCH BS ? Not once but twice… How can the campaign possibly spin their way out of this and then CNN tries to help them? It’s unbelievable.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:27 am
Moriah Miller A Hillary supporter was trying to explain the Director of the FBI comments about Hillary’s emails. Each time he tried to make a point…the CNN Talking Head cut him off…more and more.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:28 am
This tweet made me laught out loud. No apology, no “I made a mistake”, no recognition at all that he misstated himself repeatedly, and not even some feeble lie or rationalization to explain or deflect in his usual manner.
No, just the statement that the plane he saw was not the one he said but another one, followed by an exclamation mark!, as if this is the most exciting news ever! I can’t stop chuckling at how stupid yet appropriate it is.
August 5th, 2016 at 11:29 am
Trump admits he was wrong in a tweet. Hard to say if he will also admit it in front of his supporters at a rally…unlikely. But the correcting tweet probably has his campaign cheering that the intervention worked….at least a little.
But I am still shocked,by how this all happened. So Trump, who we already know from his ghostwriter has no attention span, and always warches TV sees a story one day about our returning the $400m to Iran and he remembers seeing a grainy photo of a plane landing with people around and he puts the two stories together and then imagines seeing $$$$ being taken off the plane. Just imagine a mind that put that all together into a fairy tale and then tells it with guaranteed certainty.
Imagine living a life like that! All we can say for sure is that IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN! Amd that alone makes him a threat to America!
August 5th, 2016 at 11:29 am
Trump admiting that he was wrong is actually to his credit. What’s troubling is that it was very clear that he was making the story up as he went along. He claimed to see the money changing hands up close and personal. Was he just pandering to the crowd or is he delusional?
August 5th, 2016 at 1:53 pm
The man is a confabulator, he’s ahead of schedule…it’s what happens when your a LSOS for so long your stories blend/bend together. He’s deconstructing at the seams, the full unravel of his polyester persona ought to get very interesting.
Re: this article … Thanks for this! Fek! I was JUST discussing how he’d be perceived as a ‘mean-spirited gossipy’ woman IF he weren’t a man (and hmmm, we’ve got no evidence of that lol so who really knows) this is sooo right on and what I’ve been illustrating (though not all at one time to my girl) … It’s pathetic bc yep if she were a he it’d be a landslide … And you know how I feel, I’m actually really wondering if this is not a very clever twist to get Hilary the seat and then ask fr a few favors. And all president gramt a few, let’s not bs ourselves. As long as they’re not too crazy I’m down with it, he’d be just DANGEROUS.
Sorry Trump supporters but it looks like your dude is losing his cool…and he can go ahead and make my day and take Clint Eastwood with him. Nothing worst than a bunch of old white haired dudes (colored hair or not) taking ‘offense’ they get like 4 year olds (apologies to well behaved 4 year olds)

Why Am I Always Tired?
I have constant fatigue. I exercise, eat right, and get plenty of rest, yet I am always tired. Because Iâm a vegetarian, my doctor thought my problem might be an iron or vitamin B12 deficiency, but supplementing with those hasnât seemed to help much. What are your thoughts?
One potential cause of constant fatigue might be an iodine deficiency. Without enough iodine, your body might not be making adequate amounts of thyroid hormones. A diet that consists primarily of plants is particularly problematic when it comes to iodine intakeâespecially if your protein source is from soy. While most nutritional charts indicate that many plant foods can be excellent sources of iodine, the soil in which they are grown is actually the determining factor.
Seafood, kelp, and seaweed products are good sources of iodine, and theyâre becoming more popular in this country. Iodized salt can also help, but many people have switched to sea saltâwhich really isnât a good source of iodine.
A recent study found iodine deficiencies in 25 percent of vegetarians and 80 percent of vegansâcompared to nine percent of those people who are on a mixed nutrition diet.
Iâve written extensively on the many ill effects of hypothyroidism, including constant fatigue. One of the primary ways to reverse the situation is the addition of iodine to the diet.
For years Iâve recommended an effective and predictable liquid iodine called Iosol by the company TPCS. Begin with four drops of Iosol (donât use any other form of iodine) in a glass of water daily for two weeks, then cut back to one drop a day once youâve restored your iodine levels back to normal.
To confirm your iodine level, you can ask your doctor to check them or take an at-home iodine deficiency test. But from an economic point of view, itâs far less expensive to just try the iodine supplement to see if you notice an improvement in your condition. You should see a noticeable difference in a few days to two weeks if youâre deficient in iodine.

Health info, great topic. I had half my thyroid removed 2 years ago I’m so fortunate the other half took over production seamlessly but I watch this and other factors closely, wish I knew this way before.
Very common thing. Hope you all give that ^ a read!

Hafa Adai Peter of Guam.
A 95-year-old Catholic priest admitted to sexually abusing boys decades ago on Guam. He said he confessed his sins to other priests on the island at the time but none told him to specifically stop.
Instead, the Rev. Louis Brouillard said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press on Saturday morning that the other priests told him to âdo betterâ along with regular penance, such as saying Hail Mary prayers.
Brouillard served in Guam from the 1940s through the 1970s, teaching at San Vicente and Father Duenas Memorial schools while he was a priest. He said he molested âa couple of boysâ during that time.
However, when pressed on how many boys he might have abused, Brouillard said: âI have no idea. Maybe 20.â
âAt that time, when I was that age, I got the impression that kids liked it, so I went ahead. But now of course, I know itâs wrong and Iâm paying for it,â Brouillard said.
Leo B. Tudela, 73, emotionally testified about what he said was abuse by Brouillard in the mid-1950s during a hearing this week in the Guam Legislature. Tudela urged senators to support legislation that would lift the statute of limitations for lawsuits against those who sexually abused children. Itâs now two years.
Brouillard said he didnât remember Tudela.
Brouillardâs admissions come after three former altar boys and the mother of another filed a $2 million libel and slander lawsuit against former Guam Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron and the archdiocese, saying they were called liars when they raised allegations that Apuron sexually abused boys in the 1970s.
Apuron has denied the abuse and not been charged with any crime. The Vatican appointed Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai as a temporary administrator after the allegations surfaced.
After the allegations against Brouillard were first reported by the Pacific Daily News this week, Hon released a statement: âWith the news that Father Louis Brouillard, a priest who served on Guam confessed to having abused altar boys on Guam in the 1950s, I convey my deepest apologies and that of the entire church to Mr. Leo Tudela and all other persons who were also victimized.â
Hon also directed church investigators to speak with Tudela and others who have raised allegations of sexual abuse.
The Associated Press does not typically name people who say they are victims of sex abuse, but Tudela gave his testimony at a public hearing.
Brouillard said he hasnât been defrocked, and lives in Pine City, Minnesota, on a small pension from the church in Guam. He said he has volunteered with the local Meals on Wheels program for 30 years as atonement.
He said he never sought to silence his victims, and he offers daily prayers to the boys he molested.
âI regret with all my heart that I did anything wrong to them,â he said. âI am praying for the boys and hope that they can forgive me and that God can.â
=================================
Notice the part where he wanted someone to stop him, but the priest just told him to say a few “Hail Marys.”
The butt bandits were in a cabal and they knew they could molest, rape and sexually abuse any of the children they were charged with safe guarding in the name of God. They spelled it Dog, and that’s how they behaved, like depraved Dogs.

In the face of nature’s wrath
By Mar-Vic Cagurangan 10 hrs ago (0)
In the morning of Aug. 2, 2015, Saipan residents woke up and braced for a typhoon coming their wayâonly to realize later in the day that they were not prepared enough for an unexpected havoc that Soudelor was to bring. The next day, the paradise turned into complete desolation.
It all seemed lost. Hundreds of homes were wrecked to the ground. Power poles were knocked down, leaving the island in darkness for several weeks. Water and food became scarce commodities. The worldâs Samaritans rushed to help.
But Saipan residents, naturally resilient typical of islanders, shortened their grief and resolved to quickly pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. In an island long soaked in fatalism, optimism emerged with a renewed spirit of civic engagement. Volunteers banded together, formed such groups as CARE CNMI and Community Outreach Recovery Efforts, rolled up their sleeves and fought for survival.
Although aid was coming, they knew that in the end they are left to fend for themselves. Sveta Hunterâs documentary film, âSoudelor. Saipan Strong,â summed up the islandâs response to the wrath of nature: It doesnât matter how hard you get hit; what matters is how you get back up.
Soudelorâthe strongest typhoon to ever hit Saipan in three decadesâ left the island with $200 million worth of damage. The Federal Emergency Management Agency poured $100 million in aid.
Some structures have been rebuilt, new power poles have been erected and typhoon debris had been cleared. But one year after Soudelor plowed through the island, Saipan is still trying to recover. While a few have managed to rebuild their homes, 425 families are still living in tents.
On Aug. 2, Saipan woke up at sunrise and gathered on Capitol Hill for the Sou Rise vigil to commemorate the first anniversary of Soudelor. It was pouring that day. But for survivors of the biggest catastrophe in 2015, a little rain was nothing but a reminder of their strength. The grieving period is over; they know itâs time to rebuild. Saipan remembers the day that turned so many lives upside down as a day to celebrate the communityâs survival and resilience.

Trump has endorsed both Ryan and McCain. He praises McCain like he had never disdained him.
None of the media hosts or pundits mention the untruth of that statement all the while making claims that Hilary is lying about her statement to the FBI.

Hafa adai Leonard#14.
I can understand your impatience with the catholic church. Rather than concentrate on keep the dicks of priest out of the asses of young catholic boys he is messing with the progress LGBT people are trying to make in their lives.
Here is what the chief rump rustler has said on the matter. âIn Europe, America, Latin America, Africa, and in some countries of Asia, there are genuine forms of ideological colonization taking place. And one of these â I will call it clearly by its name â is [the ideology of] âgender.â Today children â children! â are taught in school that everyone can choose his or her sex,â Francis said. âWhy are they teaching this? Because the books are provided by the persons and institutions that give you money. These forms of ideological colonization are also supported by influential countries. And this [is] terrible!â
=============================
Actually what is “terrible” is his refusal to allow women to be priests and his ignoring the sexual abuse his priest are committing every day on those who trust the religion to be scared.
August 6th, 2016 at 7:28 am
Patricia#20, the elevation of this new pope as someone special represents just another attempt by white men to promote themselves as the father who knows best. The entire time they were pushing this new more kinder wise man upon us, they never brought up the fact that he was still promoting the bullshit that ONLY men could be priests.
Now we see that he is no different than any other man in a powerful position to influence women. http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/08/pope-francis-denounces-transgender-people-annihilation-man/
The piece of dog shit is trying to destroy all the advances that LGBT people have made by making it easy for haters to fall back on some religious excuse like to accept LGBT people is to accept the “annihilation of man.”
Here the chief butt bandit means only men when he uses the term “man.” To this asshole man is made in god’s image not a woman and certainly not a LGBT person. His assertion that LGBT people are trying to annihilate man as an as an image of god is ludicrous considering LGBT people don’t choose to be gay or transgender especially in the face of all the discrimination and threats to their very lives.
Those of you whose first instinct will be to defend your religion, should consider that this pile of vile shit by this pope will encourage and contribute to the misery and deaths of millions of LGBT people all over the world.
Religion as practiced by men has been toxic to the human race.
August 6th, 2016 at 7:36 am
Alycedale#21, I absolutely understand why you would feel that way, hell I’ve felt that way too. I’m trans M-F and I’ve experienced “friction” (putting it mildly) from individuals who misuse religion and like all of us I’m quite aware of the church’s role in phobic indoctrination. They have blood on their hands.
That being said, I agree with Fr. Michael Nicosia in that the religion itself isn’t the problem. The reason I believe it to be true is because I know if it hadn’t been for the constant support, love and encouragement from two people who just happen to be devout Christians, I’m not sure I could have made it to be here today.
They understood that their religion was about love and inclusion, no judgement or preaching. I know that they aren’t the majority but they certainly exist and they read the same books that the pope does… So that tells me it’s not the religion but the way it’s used.
That being said, the pope is douchebag!
August 6th, 2016 at 7:40 am
âthe epoch of sin against God the Creatorâ is such arrogance. The Church’s own teachings affirm that we are partners with God in the on-going work of creation. Our trans sisters and brothers are a sacrament of that reality. God, life and the human person are Mystery, and they are very misguided to think that they have a handle on it all.
August 6th, 2016 at 7:41 am
Crawford#22, The reason I believe it to be true is because I know if it hadn’t been for the constant support, love and encouragement from two people who just happen to be devout Christians
Your fallacy is assuming that Christianity had anything to do with them being supportive.
You’re also ignoring the material harm done to queer people and womyn by perpetuating Abrahamic beliefs regardless of any individual interpretation.
The moral argument against it can be broken down thusly – I’ll take on Christianity in this case but it applies to Judaism and Islam as well. It’s not a complicated argument but follow carefully anyway because I’d rather not repeat it again:
Every major translation of the Bible has passages inciting harm toward queer people and devaluing queer people as dangerous, sexually immoral, unholy and unclean.
No matter what any single person’s interpretation is, those passages exist, and they’ve been used to criminalize, abuse, murder, and kill queer people for 1700 years and that continues today.
It is therefore foreseeable and virtually certain that passing this book on – this religion on leads to people continuing to interpret these passages as license to do material harm to queer people.
This will happen regardless of any one individual’s interpretation of scripture.
Since perpetuating this religion results in foreseeable harm to queer people, it is immoral to do so.
August 6th, 2016 at 7:48 am
Fr. Michael#23, If this is not your first time here, then you know of Howie’s explanation of the Three Gods. I put more faith in them because although they claim to have created all this shit, they don’t claim to give a shit about their creations as a whole.
They gave the Universe life and left it to do what it will as a form of entertainment for them. I makes more sense than earthlings being “partners with God in the on-going work of creation.” Your god doesn’t exist.
August 6th, 2016 at 7:50 am
Alycedale#24, You’re point of view certainly has merit and I agree with you that Abrahamic religious texts are riddled with hate and explicitly advocate violence towards gay/queer/sexual minorities (a group of people in proud to be included with). I for one am not a proponent nor a follower of any of those religions. To put it bluntly, I abhor them and see them more as a weapon.
You don’t need to repeat anything you just said there because I hold the same view, and I think it’s a pretty common one held by many in the community. The only thing I disagree with with you on is telling someone else what is moral and immoral, as far as being a proponent of their religion. It seems like a broad generalization.
And there was no fallacy as you mention regarding the two individuals I spoke of. Now, I can only take their word for it, but they both would talk about being inspired by Jesus and his teachings of love and how it’s what drives and motivates them to be the way they are. I know this because there were times where I would ask them “how is it that you care so much and that you always seem to find time to check on me and come see me?” I was just amazed and deeply touched by how much they proved that they cared.
This is only my experience, I’m not applying this to everyone. And I’m not trying to argue with you, just point out some examples from a person whos dealt with similar issues as you, that religion isn’t always as evil as the pope. That’s all. :)
August 6th, 2016 at 7:52 am
Alycedale#21, You’re an idiot. Gen. 1:27 CLEARLY states that the image of God is male and female, and THAT is why there are only TWO clear genders, and THAT is why Adam and Eve were created. Any bastardization of that absolute Law of Nature is an abomination, PERIOD. The Bible is clear that in the last days, “not enduring sound doctrine, they heap about themselves teachers, having itching ears”. Those that DO such things shall NOT inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Period. You either believe the word of God, or you don’t.
August 6th, 2016 at 8:01 am
Collins#27, Your invisible magic sky daddy is not real and his book of lies which he does not claim to have written, but is an assertion my men only, is not relevant to the discussion.
Nor does it accurately reflect human biology, the science of creation of life in the womb, or the different aberrations of what we are told should be a “normal” baby that are born from a woman.
Notice, I said “born from a woman,” when a man starts to give birth, I’ll be open to him telling we what I should do if I get pregnant.
August 6th, 2016 at 8:17 am
Crawford#26, You argue “…telling someone else what is moral and immoral, as far as being a proponent of their religion. It seems like a broad generalization.”
I don’t think so. There was a very clear calculus in what I wrote. I’ll reiterate it here: If you do something knowing that doing so will inflict harm upon people, and you still do it, absent coercion then that is *wrong*.
You go on to assert, “And there was no fallacy as you mention regarding the two individuals I spoke of. Now, I can only take their word for it, but they both would talk about being inspired by Jesus and his teachings of love and how it’s what drives and motivates them to be the way they are.”
Again I beg to differ because that’s not really how people work. Those two people could and would have found love and inspiration in something else beside the teachings of Jesus. The people who are looking for reasons to justify their hate are going to find that, and people looking for reasons to justify their love for those and things around them are going to find that. The Bible was a handy explanation for the kindness they extended towards you. If there were not Bible, they would have come up with something else to explain to you why they were so kind.
As for your argument that “religion isn’t always as evil as the pope. That’s all. :)”
The term “evil” is pretty meaningless to me, since everyone seems to have a different metric for it. I prefer to look at things in terms of material benefit vs. material harm. It’s far more universal, and it’s what any moral argument I make is going to hinge on.
I am still waiting for someone to show me how their religion has produced more material benefit to society than material harm. Perhaps you can show me how your Bible and the things it preaches has done that.
August 6th, 2016 at 8:21 am
Collins#27, “all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteous.” doesn’t say anything about taking it literally. even the erroneous bits that were shackled by cultural biases can teach and train us if we’re open to the Spirit and are guided by compassion. …by the way, “there are only TWO clear genders” denies the existence of inter-sexed individuals and would imply that God makes mistakes (and people aren’t mistakes, they’re mysteries).

Alycedale#29, Yeah, now we get at the REAL you, don’t we? Atheist trash. The existence of a Universal Prime Force is established science, Sparky, going back to Max Planck. Here’s yer soundbite, from the 1918 Nobel Prize winner in Physics:
âAs a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science to the study of matter, I can tell you as the result of my research about atoms, this muchâthere is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together–We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.â -Max Planck
Add to that the Higgs boson, dark matter, and Antony Flew accepting the FACT of a UPF, you’re in bad company: Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Mao, etc.

“Pope Francis denounces transgender people as âannihilation of manâ”
We are not the “annihilation” of man, Francis. We are the evolution of man. We are mankind’s next step forward.
In short, we’re the fvcking X-Men. :P

What is wild to me is that the white, western binary gender system was the one that was colonized around the world and replaced indigenous systems of gender that allowed for choice and had way more than two options.

Alycedale#21, I think the worst part is that this is STILL the most progressive pope we’ve ever had >.> Like… holy shit.

Alycedale#29, Yes, it’s clear to you that you think it’s immoral, that’s it. It’s clear to me it’s an over generalization to assume that everyone who advocates for religion believes they are advocating for something that will harm others.
I don’t care if you believe that, it’s fine by me. Now if we’re talking about murder, theft or assault then yes, it’s immoral to do it. But the exchange of religious ideals, to me, isn’t immoral unless those specific expressed ideals lead to harm. It isn’t immoral if those expressed ideals drive someone to do good.
I think your view on this would be better received if you made a point to say that it’s your opinion and not fact.
Also, you make another generalization about how “people really work.” I’m sure one can make a few assumptions about general human behavior but it doesn’t apply to everyone and it doesn’t work here. I know these people very well and I see how their lives and what they do with them stem from their beliefs.
Id encourage you to do your best in trying not to believe you have everything and everyone figured out. You’ll learn a lot more if you do and youll grow by challenging ideas you’ve thought were solid.
“Evil”… Yes it’s just a word. It has a definition and it means different things to different people. Just like every other fucking adjective… Ok, I’ll use you’re razor and get out of here because I see no material benefit in keeping this discussion up. ;)

Collins#31, quantum physics doesn’t even prove taoism true, Sparky, and that would be the closest thing to the universal force you are tying to claim as god.

Collins, Your logical fallacies are, in order:
Appeal to Authority, followed by Guilt By Association.

Fan of that “I can’t take criticism Howie without going to my God “C”, for revenge” – Yes I have been here from the beginning and I know all the players.
You, Fan of Howie, are the destruction of the species, and Sodom and Gomorrah. Do not be so terribly confused.

Lara#36, lol, you’re not wrong.

Crawford#35, so we want to play in the philosophical world of “Razor” do we. Okay let’s play.
1. You argue: “…I’m sure one can make a few assumptions about general human behavior but it doesn’t apply to everyone and it doesn’t work here.”
———————-
Your logical fallacy is one of presumption – specifically post hoc ergo propter hoc.
You assume that they are good because of their religion but you have not demonstrated causality.
======================
2. You argue: “hat everyone who advocates for religion believes they are advocating for something that will harm others.”
—————————
Whether they believe it or not is not what is at issue.
Again, the test for this being a moral wrong is that it is foreseeable that it will cause harm to others, and if you’re an adult, and in control of your mental faculties, and you don’t see it then you need an education. “Foreseeable” is an important word in any moral argument that includes it.
=======================
3. You argue: “…I think your view on this would be better received if you made a point to say that it’s your opinion and not fact.”
—————————-
I don’t care how it is received. I’m not here to win friends. I have better friends IRL. The takeaway here is you can either argue against my position or you can’t. If you can argue against it, fine – but you haven’t done that here. If you can’t, then go pound sand.
I never said anything about fact. I made a moral argument, and if you want to debunk that moral argument you’ll have to show your work.
Do you not understand informal logic?
===========================
4. You argue: “…Just like every other fucking adjective.”
—————————–
Not really, because believe it or not, words mean things, but when your words have a bunch of religious baggage around them like “evil” does, well that’s one instance where the meaning gets pretty messy.

Collins#38, Nice to have this discussion with an old regular who if my memory serves me correctly hasn’t participated in our discussions, at least, with that moniker. I too, have been here since the beginning. But on to the subject matter at hand, which was your idiotic comment.
There was no Sodom and Gomorrah.
We are not the destruction of the species. Unfortunately, you’re still here.

Collins#38, I am awed by your ability to understand a metaphor.

Alycedale#40, Oh, ok. Well alrighty then, good talking to ya.

[…] Rico: Thanks for your post. I respect Obama’s decision. If only more men in politics, corps, etc., would take a stance against other countries who don’t respect their women and treat them as equal. Hint: The countries who supply us with our oil – you know who they are. Men would stop doing the sick things they do to their women if enough men said “enough,” and backed it with action. […]

This is why I am hooked on this blog. Any subject can spark incredible discourse!
Brilliant women operate here at the peril of men who dare challenge them with pithy bullshit.
A few days ago it was Zen Lill who held school. Today the beat down Alycedale has administered is just awesome to behold.
