Historacial Keepsake Photo
Posted by Michelle Moquin on June 17th, 2009
Good morning.
Sherri Goforth, an executive assistant for Tennessee State Rep. Diane Black (R-Gallatin), sent this to 20 of her pals. The email was headlined “Historical Keepsake Photo.” Really…a ‘racist Obama spook photo’. The e-mail depicts the Presidents of the United States with President Barack Obama as a pair of eyes in a black background. It should be called, “Historacial Keepsake Photo”
The woman, obviously not very bright, sent it to the wrong group of people. Oh Ooh not good. “I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button,” Goforth said. “I’m very sick about it, and it’s one of those things I can’t change or take back.”
Yes, bigotry has a way of baring itself at the most opportune moments – of course not for you Ms. Goforth; it only reveals the racist that you are.
When she was asked about the controversial nature of the photo, she only said that she felt bad that she accidentally sent it to the wrong list of people. And when she was asked again…you know given a second chance to cover up her racist actions, she gave the same answer. Oh Goforth…you need more training to become a true repugnicant. You are obviously not seasoned enough. If you were you’d be lying through your teeth saying that you never meant to send it…you had gotten it from someone else and you meant to delete it ….you know, but somehow it got attached to an e-mail list and you pushed ‘send’ by mistake. And of course Faux ( Just love that – thanks to you know who) News will back ya.
Bottom line is she’s sick about it – why? Not because she sent it, but because it got into the wrong hands, This is in the same vain as when reporters forget that they have their microphones still on and they say something that they didn’t want anyone else to hear. Are they sorry they said it? No, they’re just sorry that the microphone was on and revealed a side of themselves that they didn’t want revealed. Not very smart but in my opinion, in these situations, I love stupidity. I just squeal with delight when people get busted like this. Hey, if it’s out there happening I want to know about it. These are true feelings EXPOSED.
So think about it – This is amazing to me. Here we have the president of the United States and look at the disrespect that he has to deal with on a daily basis. Now how do you think OTW’s feel and the challenges that they face on a daily basis. If a president is going to be treated this way…if the president is hit with racist remarks and behavior on a daily basis and HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, you can bet the average OTW is going to be treated just as bad and most likely a lot worse.
So readers…any comments?
Many things to talk about this morning.
In the forefront of my mind like I am sure for many of you, is the situation in Iran. I woke up early to peruse the Huff and the photos. The people’s commitment to each other and their country was so moving. And the first thing I thought was how the election was stolen from the Democrats in Bush’s last term and who knows how many times before that….and look at how we reacted. These Iranian people are inspiring. They are standing up for what they know is the truth: Ahmadinejad is out, Mousavi is in. (On a side note Zen Lill: I still crack up when I think of your comment yesterday, “I’m-a-dinnah-jacket”….Not sure if anyone else got it but I’m still laughing.) I only hope that he (Mousavi) is well protected so that he can claim what seems to be his rightful place in Iran.
And I love how technology is playing such a huge role. Here they are faced with the media not allowing footage of what is going on, but people are tweeting and youtubing and doing what ever they need to do to be heard.

I only have time for a few responses…
Hi Anna & Peter: Welcome back! – I was wondering where you were. Anna, I hope that you had fun back home.
Rick, Paul & Connie: My pleasure.
Lethis, Shari and Reza: Your are all in my thoughts and I am hoping for CHANGE for your country too.
Thais: Thank you for the additional article that you posted too. There is some good stuff to know in there.
Robert: I don’t get the chance to watch ‘Ed’ as much as I’d like to because of the time he is on but hey you have inspired me to record him – Have only seen his show a few times but I like him too. Who else would have the balls to call Palin a media whore and not feel the need to apologize?
Got to run…peace out.
Gratefully your blog host,

Hi Mischa,
During the fury of teh election last November I received an email with a pic of Michelle O and a character form planet of the Apes, from one of C’s friends, yeah, ‘shame on you’ was my response, apparently other people reacted the same way and he sent a mass email with a similar response as above (not really sorry for how offenmsive it was just that he’d sent it to the ‘wrong’ people) hmmm…
I’m glad you like the I’m-a-dinnah-jacket, people who won’t or can’t break down a name from a different culture like it, think it’s funny, I’ve heard his name mispronounced so many times it’s ridiculous. I got good at that in Singapore where I had many Indian pals with unusually long first and last names : )
Robert, cheers to your remark, Ed is a man of the people with huge cajones, he calls it like he sees it and that’s a trait I love. FYI Misch, he’s on my DVR recorder but more often than not I just youtube it, it’s easier…
Caio, Zen Lill
PS Misch, did YOU understand my man ‘buy in’ stories which should’ve been called ‘ZL man re-education seminars #1 & #2′ or ‘ZL male thought conversion tactics – #1 & #2′ or did you think I was on drugs also? Just checking…peace out, BABE ; )

Sorry Michelle it took me a while to compose myself after seeing your blog today. I like Zen Lill have had people say to me that I couldn’t take a joke when they made their overtly racial remarks against Obama or Michelle. I too have been told that he/she was sorry that they sent it to me.
What a world!
I wonder if Al will allow me a chance to get on my soap box on this issue?

Who can say what it means to be black in America? I have many black friends. They never complain to me about the treatment they receive form whites. I have been guilty of complacence. I would have argued that there is no more need for affirmative action. But this article says I am wrong.
If people in my race feel this free to insult the President of the United States of America because he is black, what would stop them from doing anything to the average black person? I am ashamed of those in my race that tolerate this type of behavior.

Most ice cream makers offer low-fat products that have less saturated fat and fewer calories than traditional products — and they can taste just as good as regular ice cream. Here’s what to look for…
Two grams or less of saturated fat per one-half-cup serving, versus 4.5 grams for regular ice cream. Calories will range from 100 to 200 per serving.
Short list of ingredients — preferably with only five or six ingredients — and no artificial flavors or colors.
Experiment with different brands to determine which flavors and textures you like best.

Also consider these alternatives to low-fat ice cream. They deliver lots of flavor with even less saturated fat…
Sherbet, Italian ice and sorbet
Some varieties of frozen yogurt
Nondairy soy- and rice-based frozen desserts, available in natural-foods stores and some supermarkets.
Caution: Toppings such as caramel, fudge, whipped cream and candies add substantial calories and saturated fat.
Of course, large — or frequent — servings of low-fat ice cream also can result in calorie and fat intakes that exceed healthful levels.

This Month, Marianas Media Will Launch A New Television Documentary About Chamorro Identity In The Face Of Guam’s Military Buildup — Exclusively On The CW4 Guam
GUAM – From Marianas Media, the creators of MANHITA: Building Our Future Together and other groundbreaking television documentaries for Guam, comes HINASSO: Remembering Who We Are.
?Eminent Chamorro historian and Guam leader, Robert Underwood, wrote that there is a distinct Chamorro political ideology comprised of three main components: a demand for fairness and equality in treatment, a demand for respect, and a readiness to fight for land.
Sadly, these principles — along with many other Chamorro beliefs, values and experiences – have long been silent in the colonial narratives of Guam’s history. Upholding the view that “what’s good for the Navy is good for the natives,” the people of the island became relegated to being players in a narrative created for them, their own voices conspicuously silent.
Why is there a need to re-examine the retelling of Guam’s history from the perspective of the long-silenced “native voices,” and not just to be players in someone else’s narrative? How did a people that previously had worked towards political freedom suddenly become natives whose “patriotism would put many a US citizen to shame” in such a short time? Why do Chamorros continue to serve in the US military in such high numbers, driven by an undiminished sense of gratitude and patriotic duty? How do perpetuated images and memories of being “liberated” figure into a prevailing consciousness of dependency on the US government and US military? And how does the impending relocation of 8,000 U.S. marines and their families from Okinawa to Guam in the largest military buildup since WWII become another turning point in defining the Guamanians’ relationship with the US military and how it continues to determine Guam’s destiny?
The television premiere of HINASSO will air exclusively on “The CW4 Guam” on July 4, 2009.
