I Am The Proud Owner Of Two…
Posted by Michelle Moquin on June 23rd, 2009
Good morning…
Anna: I do hope that one day soon I will make it out there. I would love to meet you and Peter and all of your Chamorro friends. A lot is going on with Guam…from the discovery of the Alien shuttlecraft in the Mariana Islands, to the circulation of your new Guam Quarter. So in light of the latter, this article is dedicated to you Anna, and all of the Chamorros.
Readers: I wanted to share the little Gift that Anna sent me from Guam last week. I am now the proud owner of two Guam Quarters. They just went into circulation this past May 26th, and I am delighted to have them in my little hands – Thank you again Anna for such a thoughtful gesture! Check ‘em out.
Cool huh? The Guamanians, I am sure, are so proud, not to mention all of the people of the Mariana Islands. I’m excited for them that their homeland is featured. Read on…
The Guam Quarter was released into circulation on May 26, 2009. This was the third release of the 2009 DC & US Territories Quarter Program. This program is a follow up to the popular 50 State Quarters Program.
The design features most prominently, an outline of the island of Guam. Two symbols associated with the island are also pictured. At left is a sailing vessel known as the “Flying Proa” for its great speed. At right is a Latte, a stone pillar used in ancient houses. The reverse was designed by David Westwood and sculpted by Jim Licaretz.
The inscriptions read “Guam,” “Guahan I Tanó ManChamorro,” (translated: Guam- Land of the Chamorro), “E Pluribus Unum,” and the date. The second inscription refers to Chamorro, one of the official languages of Guam which holds an important place in Guam’s identity as a link to their ancestors. It’s usage is seeing a renaissance in Guam and the Mariana Islands.
Another proposed design included a depiction of the Flying Proa sailing within the East Hagåtña Bay. A coconut tree appeared to the right and Two Lovers Point was in the background. The residents of Guam made their design selection based on a popular vote.
An official launch ceremony for the Guam Quarter was held on June 4, 2009 at Skinner Plaza in Hagatna, Guam. The ceremony was hosted by US Mint Director Edmund Moy and Guam Governor Felix P Camacho. After the ceremony children were given a free Guam Quarter and adults were allowed to exchange bills for new rolls of coins. Prior to the ceremony, a collectors coin forum was held.
The Guam Quarter Mint is the lowest so far for the US Territories Quarters Program. There were only 42,600,000 coins produced at the Denver Mint and 45,000,000 produced at the Philadelphia Mint. This low mintage might lead many to consider this a key date coin.
Coin Specifications:
- Mintage: 45,000,000 (Philadelphia), 42,600,000 (Denver)
- Designers: William Cousins after John Flanagan (obverse), David Westwood (reverse)
- Composition: 91.67% copper, 8.33% nickel (clad), 90% silver, 10% copper (silver proof)
- Diameter: 24.26 mm
- Weight: 5.67 grams
- Thickness: 1.75 mm
- Edge: Reeded
If you are a collector, no doubt, you would want to purchase a few of your own Guam Quarters and add them to your own collection. I have never been a collector of much and I doubt that I am going to start now, but I do love being introduced to something new. And I love surrounding myself with unique little specialties. And these coins are one of them – I can’t wait to show them around and brag. You bet I will. Ah…it is the little things in life :)
That is all I have time for this morning. Please continue as you do and chat amongst yourselves. I’ll catch ya later.
Gratefully your blog host,
michelle

Michelle, you really are being lazy with today’s post.
There is unrest in Iran with people being clobbered by Security Forces. Iran scrambled your blog on Saturday and was scanning for people with Cell Phones who might leak information about what is really going on in Iran. I suggest removing the Sim Card from these phones so they cannot be detected.
A Spaceship crashed in the Pacific near Saipan. The crew are safe but the Air Force still wants to blow it up. The ship will protect itself and shoot back.
We need to keep our eyes on North Korea. They are testing our resolve to the limits and just might use a Nuclear device to prove they belong to the ‘Big Boys Club’ of the World.
And then there are the never ending ‘Female Equality’ issues your blog is famous for.
It appears you just want a day off. I do not blame you, however the lack of Comments today prove me correct.

Hi Mischa, how cool is that? Now if Anna will send the recipe for Soipan (sp? I should go back and check spelling but I’m being lazy) I’d be as stoked, i don’t collect anything either but I do dig cooking and eating new foods, would be honored to honor the Chamarros by making this ‘signature dish’ and sharing it with some non-Chamarro pals : )
Hi Emma, no worries, I am not that easily offended : )
Hey George, not sure if you read my commentary yesterday (and response to you from here) but today I addressed yo again and I mean it, though I still think meds might be an OK idea, too.
Hi Al dente’ – Al a mode’ – wrote to you also, your comment about Palin made me laugh : )
Today is ‘women and the happy gap’ – I’m thinking of addressing that ‘complacency gap’ soon also, it’s been the underpinnings of a theme humming in the back of my mind for awhile, so thanks to you Howie for throwing it out there, I will keep on truckin’ ; )
Oh btw, don’t know if any of you listened to Obama this AM, wow, I could talk to that man all day, and that’s not a ZL come on. It’s that he’s articulate, intelligent, sensitive/compassionate, witty, yes he’s got it going on. I’m proud to have him respresenting my country. It’d be awesome to meet him and I’ve never said/thought that about any politician/president before.
Peace out, Zen Lill

Grown-up Kids Need Your Love More than Ever
Bernie Siegel, MD
Exceptional Cancer Patients
The love we show our children in their early years has a powerful effect on their behavior, life choices and self-esteem. But parents sometimes forget that older children, including teens and those who have already left home, need just as much love.
With love comes self-esteem, the ability to live with criticism and the avoidance of self-destructive behavior. It can even keep kids healthy. In one Harvard University study, nearly 90% of the participants who did not feel loved as teenagers experienced a serious illness by midlife, while only 25% of those who had felt loved had a serious illness.
Lessons I’ve learned from my experience as a pediatric surgeon, father of five and grandfather of eight…
BE THERE
It’s not enough merely to be present with your children — you need to give them your full energy and attention.
Young children crave parental attention. Grown children are more likely to push their parents away. At the same time, they crave understanding and kindness. It’s crucial for parents to reach out even when they’re faced with apparent rejection.
Ask your kids what’s happening in their lives — do this often. Don’t try to solve their problems for them. You don’t even have to agree with what they’re saying. There were lots of times when I didn’t always approve of things our children were doing. When I didn’t approve, I let them know it. You can love your children and not like what they are doing. Just show them that you take them seriously and that their thoughts and feelings matter.
LET THEM GROW UP
Parents want more than anything to keep their kids safe. It’s tempting to supervise their every move… bail them out of every difficulty… and protect them from the consequences of their own (sometimes immature) decisions. But safety isn’t all there is to life. We should encourage kids to take chances and experience new things. That doesn’t mean we should let children risk their lives, but they can’t grow up until we stop being overprotective and allow them to make their own mistakes.
Example: One of our kids did brilliantly in school. I wanted him to go to college and have an incredible career. One day, he told me he wanted to go to auto mechanic school. It wasn’t what I had imagined at all, but you can’t make your child go to college. So, after serious thought, I said, “Go ahead.”
As it turned out, he later went into law enforcement and ultimately graduated from law school. Today, he restores cars on his own time as a hobby. I learned an important lesson. If your kids have an interest, encourage them to go all the way — even if it isn’t something that you wish they would do. There’s no telling where they’ll wind up eventually.
DEFINE FAILURE
I’ve heard parents say to their kids things like, “You don’t do anything right.” I’ve seen cancer patients who grew up with so much criticism that they were even afraid to draw pictures as part of their therapy. Failure is a word with many different meanings, depending on the way a person experiences it. It can be a disaster or an opportunity — or at the very least, the source of some great stories.
Always tell your children that there’s a huge difference between experiencing a setback and being a failure as a person. They’ll never live fully if they’re always worried that they might fail.
Help your children understand that mistakes are part of growth and that it’s possible to succeed even when things don’t go as planned. It also is important to realize that there’s immense pressure on kids to succeed in terms of money, job status, etc. But what about the more important kinds of success, such as generosity, honesty and happiness? Without these, all the money in the world doesn’t add up to very much. If you are happy, you are successful.
LIGHTEN UP
Why are so many parents so serious all the time? One of the best ways to stay close to your kids — and have fun — is to stay young at heart. Identify with your kids, rather than feeling you have to be “grown up.”
When something goes wrong in your children’s lives, find ways to help them laugh at the situation (without embarrassing them). Share a similar story from your own life. Tell them about your mistakes… how ridiculous you felt… and how it now makes you laugh. At the same time, tell them how you resolved the problem and learned to do better.
Every so often, devote a few days to growing young with your kids. Do something they enjoy. Depending on their ages, it could be going to an amusement park or a concert. Enjoy their young adulthood with them. You can always take a nap when you get home.

His most recent book is Love, Magic and Mudpies (Rodale). Based in Connecticut, he retired from general and pediatric surgery in 1989.

I’m with you Zen Lill. I love this man. He is the most exciting President I have ever seen. He is intelligent, witty, and he is just sooooo cool.
My husband said that he is very gifted for a black man. I didn’t answer him. I just silently said you wish you could be as “gifted.”
I am 33. I have been a political animal for just one term. For this man. I told my husband I voted as usual republican. Obama convinced me to not only vote for him but to switch to become a dem. I am a dem now for as long as he wants me.
If ever there were a president that was all that, he is.

Hi Zen Lill, I liked the way you handled ‘Crazy George’. You get your point across without offending him too much.
I also want to tell you that I am becoming jealous of my buddy Al dente’ – Al a mode’. Just Joking. I think he’s great — for a White guy. He aint heavy . . . He’s my Brother.
ciao,

Hi Brittany, I laughed when I read what your hubby said about Obama…’gifted’ and the even funnier ‘for a black man’ oh puh-lease. It reminded me of my mother, ‘you’ve done alright, for a girl’ – I say f**k off to that, Obama is a gifted man, period, and I’ve done alright with my life, period. So listen, if your hubby (who I am sure has other redeeming qualities) ever says, ‘honey, you look good for your age’ stand up and say ‘I look good, period’ (and dooooon’t you forgit it, boy!) ah, I say this part in fun, I’m sure you have your ways of handling your man when he says these things. Silence is one way…
Howie, for white guys, I think you’re both great…Al’s name just lends itself to such good wordplay though : ) and re: our crazy George, well – it’s my understanding that part of changing the self is awareness, and he is sure getting plenty of ‘awareness’ right here, what he chooses to do with that newly found knowledge remains to be seen. I just thought rather than getting offensive and/or into a battle of egos, I’d drop my snappy responses and show some compassion for the man, he is writing here so it’s very possible he knows he needs assistance. You have to ‘start where you are’ in this life…
…just letting you know, George, there’s hope for everyone no matter how far gone they seem to be. Or – I’m dreaming on the edge – once again.

I can work to make myself presentable to a woman like you. Where I’m from the bitches are for f**king and really nothing else. Most of them can’t get past their soaps or churches, or social clubs.
I would like to ask you not to encourage the jew. They will try to f**k our women with overtures to their gentle nature. That’s why we had to cook a few of them. How I long for that smell again.
Howie is a jew. Don’t let his bullshit fool you. He is the big apologist for white men because he hopes we will spare his jew ass when the ovens open up again.
George
WE WON’T. He will be the FIRST to cook. Al keep and eye on that chicken. When the ovens open up again, bring him on down.
Enough of talking about the wannabe white man. I want to appeal to your pride in your race. I am a white man who is proud to be white.l
I am not an apologist for this, I would like to continue my dialogue with you. I have a MBA and I make a six figure salary as a CPA for a major corp.
My ex was a beauty queen who is now living off of $4,000 a month of my alimony. She sends our two kids to a white only religious school.
I support her because she keeps the rug rats away from the mud people the best she can. I left her because she couldn’t give me a son.
A real man deserves a son. God gave men the right to as many bitches as it takes to give him a son. I am 32 years old. I need that son now.
My friends say the niggers, wets, and jews will destroy this country if we don’t get organized. The first step towards taking our country back requires that we educate our sons about white pride. I need a son.
My DNA needs to be passed on. I am looking for a woman who can bring a son into this world who will understand the demands of his race.

George, you are a sick, inbred, insulting, prjudice bastard. My slogan is NEVER AGAIN! and I can show you what a Jew can do these days. We are one of the strongest and able Military Forces in the World, yet Israel is only the size of New Jersy and has only existed since 1948 when the UN declared it a Nation. Israel has been attacked by all 5 or six if its neighboring Countries at the same time and kicked their asses in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1980 and whenever necessary.
We ‘Jews’ can take care of ourselves. The fires may burn, but they will NEVER be ovens!
You should kiss my ass you inbred bigot. You need to be taught a lesson.
I am not interested in your inbred prejudiced Women, so you have nothing to fear but your own ugliness and stupidity.
NEVER AGAIN!

Sorry, Zen Lill, Some people are incapable of moving ahead. They get stuck in some quagmire and stay there because it is comfortable. George is one of these barely Humans, who cannot learn and move ahead with their lives.
I am sorry if I came on too strong. George was asking for it and will get what he deserves from me and anyone else who is sick and tired of his old rhetoric. Empty talk is just that . . . empty.

Madaline said that we must convince the young men that we as a nation must use ALL our strengths. She said even leaders get tired.
If she sees that they will share the rewards of her efforts to free them from the tyranny of our theocracy. She also said that we as women should always be against any theocracy.
She said that theocracies are vehicles used by men to enslave women without having to answer to any outside objections to their discrimination.
After she left many of us stayed to discuss what she had said about a lot of things. We later talked to the men. We told them that we would not support a change of men in power only to have to be forced by religion to be one third of a man legally.
Some of the men said that they would bring us up to one half a man, if we would agree to help. Most of the men laughed at that suggestion.
To my surprise they were for equality. Some actually said that religion was wrong to insist that women were not equal to men.
Madaline is so right when she says that women the world over should reject religion as a determination of who should be the head of their household. That opinion should be theirs and theirs alone.
I can understand Madaline’s position. Why should she help men who are only concerned about their plight. We, men and women are in this tyranny together. We are risking equally to overthrow it. We should share equally in the victory.
June 24th, 2009 at 5:09 am
Madaline was right about the fact that this situation needs all of us women and men to work together. We desperately need a leader. The problem is that the men won’t accept a woman and the women won’t accept a man that will not promise that women will be treated as equals if we overthrow this evil regime.
Madaline has galvanized the women. History will show that more women are out every day that men. At night it is the women’s voices that ring more often and the loudest. The women are ready to take up arms. We want our freedom more that we want to live the way we do.
The men do not yet feel that death is preferable to the lifestyle they presently have. Madaline said that they would feel that way. She says they are not treated as slaves so they have much less to lose.
She said that if they will promise to share equally the benefits of victory she will give them one. She asked us to decide if they can be trusted because she will have very little patience with treachery.
I can not honestly say that I trust those that promise us equality. I feel closer to those that claim that they would love to give us equality, but that would make them infidels, They claim any suggestion of equality for women would put them against the teachings of Islam and Allah.
Madaline was right when she said that religion was an invention of man to give him rights that he could not claim by reason. I believe in Allah but to me She/He is there for moral issues not affairs of state.

So Howie you do have a pair. GOOD!
It is nice to see that you can stand up for your race and against racism. I also noticed that you can be nasty to those who deserve a good tongue lashing, too.
Good for you.
Now you see how us women feel when we have to take that kind of shit from men. I’m sure you know that not all whites are like George just as women know that not all men are like those that deprive women of equality.
But it is not always easy to hold your anger when confronted by bigots, racists, and misogynist every day of your life.

Meds ! George, Meds!!!
I was thinking about your comment last night, and realize where it all stems from. You have a deep seated inferiority complex. You are sexually aroused by the good looks, lifestyle, and power of Obama and feel guilty about that since he is OTW…oh, and you are feeling guilty of having those homosexual feelings… You feel that you should be recognized for your intelligence, and are not, for reasons this blog understands… You are feeling left behind due to your vision of the world is not being administered. You see an OTW in the White House and feel less than, due to them being in this position of power and you are simply a CPA worker bee. You feel lost due to the fact that your faithless…I mean faithful party has failed you. Deep down, you know that Obama, if he wanted, could create a boy, but doesn’t seem to feel the need as he has two wonderful children and seeing their love makes you feel guilty that you don’t feel that with your children, since they are not boys. You see his love with his wife, and you feel guilty due to your feelings to your ex-wife “beauty queen” for not giving you a boy…You get out of the shower and see your difference and know you can do nothing about that!
I understand, George. I get it now. Face it, your life is fucked. Your ex saw the light, perhaps your girls hate you regardless of the gifts and money you throw at them, and you try hard to paint a picture that you can come to grips with, but it doesn’t work… You are jealous of Howie getting any since you don’t anymore. You brought up your money issues to the blog…or wait, perhaps, you wanted all of the Jews that read the blog to know that you make money and are a CPA because Bushes failed policies that have created the global mayhem that everyone now needs to clean up is making your job loss a possibility and you may want a job and you know how Jews are with money…in case you needed to get a new job you were throwing you line out fishing…
I get it!
Meds, George, Meds!
June 24th, 2009 at 6:37 am
Come guys you are being a little hard on George. He is merely quoting the bible and making natural assumptions.
The bible says God is the light. That would make the devil is the dark. Follow me now. That would mean that the light children are form God and the dark ones are from the devil.
Hence, niggers and jews are from the devil. There is no getting around it if you are a servant of God. I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
We are the descendants of hebrews that migrated to America 600 years before Christ. They were turned into white men and women by God. They hate jews too, now.
We Mormons have been forced to accept niggers and mud people into our congregation. We have been forced to give up our openly polygamy life style.
But we have not given up our women. God gave man the right to subject the bitches to our will. God gave us the right to subject the niggers and mud people to our will.
We are white people. God’s people. Those of you who can’t get behind that are the devil’s own.
June 24th, 2009 at 6:46 am
And people from Israel and the middle east are white? Descendants are white? Perhaps you need a social and geography lesson, cause last I looked people from that area of the world don’t look white to me. And, according to the bible, this is where it all started for you “christians”. Those who are taught to love thy neighbor, etc.
I love the statement that you “are forced to give up our openly polygamy life style”. Openly is that key word…priceless. Oh, wait, I found some glasses that I can translate that statement with while I was out hiking in Utah last week…
June 24th, 2009 at 7:19 am
I too came from the darkness into the light. I am also a member of the Mormon faith. I am the secret third wife of a member of the Church.
I also believe that God’s will on the position of women should be obeyed. We as women should obey our men. If that means we should be a good second, third, fourth, etc wife, then so be it.
God has a plan for women who obey their men. We were put here to be the mothers of their children. Mothers, that means we have no right to abort any child of a man.
Women should know that no abortions mean just that. Rape, incest, not perfect babies, or the possibility of death from birth is an excuse for an abortion.
We are women and as such we have a duty to God to bear children.
Penny
June 24th, 2009 at 7:23 am
there are NO, excuses to get an abortion.
